Itunes ringtones sync delete all my music from iphone4

I've read all the other post and the same thing happened to me in June, but I have never had a problem until then.  It deleted all the ringtones as well.  Now it deletes any ringtones that I put on the my phone it deletes.

I know, it's a pain in the butt.  You have to do your downloading manually if you want ringtones and it will delete everything.    But it's all there, you go to each section...apps, book, audiobooks, music, etc.  and check your preferences.  Those will stay checked in the future.  However every time you add a ringtone, you have to resync everything so depending on how many much stuff you have, it takes a bit longer than when you are just syncing one more thing.   I don't understand why the ringtones won't sync automatically.   Maybe they just want to make it inconvenient to make your own free ringtones.

  • I deleted a song from iTunes and it deleted all the music from the artist?

I was deleting a duplicate song from an album of an artist that I have a lot of music from and somehow iTunes deleted all the music from that artist. It's not supposed to do that especially when you're only deleting one song. Has anyone had this happen? It wasn't music that I bought from the iTunes store it was off cds.

    Hello Rabzzy,
I would be concerned too if I was charged for the same song twice.  I recommend using the steps in the following article to report this issue:

If you're talking about on the iPad and you got it there by syncing, simply de-sync it to remove it all.

  • How can I delete all the music from my iPhone and reinstall it?

I am trying to delete all the music from my iPhone 5 and reinstall it.  The names of some of the albums and the artists did not import correctly from my CDs.  I went back into iTunes and made corrections, synced my phone and no changes were made to the music on my phone.  And two of the albums (I only have albums, not individual songs) are duplicated on the phone, though they are not in my iTunes library.
I have gone into iTunes, selected the device at the top right corner, selected all the music that showed up in the window - gone to the Edit menu, selected "all" and then "delete."  The list of tracks disappears from the device list.  I then synced the phone again, and the albums are still on the phone.  What am I missing, please?  I've even shut the phone down and restarted it, synced it again, but nothing changes.
    Help, please?

Follow the instructions here or here; the first set of instructions may require a power source other than a computer's USB port, so you should have one of these before proceeding. Your iPod is a fourth generation model.

Slightly less radical would be to uncheck the "Sync Music" button on the Music tab or choose new songs to sync to it

When you synced with iTunes It would have tried to replace the music on the iPhone with what is on the computer. which is what happens when you sync with iTunes.
If the songs are purchased you can re-downloaded them Pretty easily. You mentioned that you still see the songs and that you could not play them. Do they have a Cloud symbol next to them? If so this means that you can download them but that they are not on the device.

How can I delete all the music from my iPhone?

I finally went to Apple Care tech support (the best!) for help.
Plug your phone into the computer.
    I-Tunes should open.
Toward the top left of the page, click on the small I-Phone icon.
    Select Music in the sidebar.
In the right window, your music should appear.
De-select what you don't want, then click Sync.
    Voila.
    I am running Yosemite 10.1.1

  • Help: iTunes wants to delete all my music and videos off of my iPhone!

I usually keep the option to manually manage music and videos on my iPhone. I only use 1 pc to transfer music and movies to and from my iPhone. Recently for some reason when I launched iTunes, an error message kept poping up repeatedly saying "The iTunes Library file cannot be saved." I fixed the error message by adjusting the user access privileges to my music folder.
Now my music library is completely empty in iTunes, but that shouldn't be a problem because I manually manage my music and videos. However, when I checked the iPhone page in iTunes, the checkbox for manually manage music and videos is unchecked.
So I went to go check the check box so that I can continue to add some more music and videos to my iPhone, however a message box pops up saying:
"The iPhone "my iPhone" is synced with another iTunes library. Do you want to erase this iPhone and sync with this iTunes library?"
I have about 12 gigs worth of music and videos which I have carefully hand picked over a period of about 3 months and now iTunes wants to delete all of it because it thinks I want to "sync with another library". I only hope someone can understand how frustrating this is for me. All I want to do is continue to be able to add music and videos to my iPhone without having to erase months worth of work putting the current music I have on there. Can anyone help me?

Thanks for your reply. I don't keep all of my music in the iTunes' designated music folder. I don't like the way iTunes reorganizes my songs and I keep all my music in my own self organized music folders as I don't use iTunes as my primary media application. Not to mention allot of my files come from all different corners of my computer's hard drive. It would literally take months to go through over 20 gigs of media files to pick out the songs I have in my iPhone library to rebuild an iTunes library. Like i said, I don't even use iTunes other than to transfer files to my iPhone. I thought the purpose of manually managing the files was so you don't have to sync it with the iTunes library but now it won't give my that option without requiring me to delete everything on my phone I worked so hard on.
What I don't understand is logically or technically why iTunes HAS to delete all the content off of my iphone. Who's decision in the Apple's software engineering department was to require the one's iPhone to be erased if someone loses their iTunes library? Its frustrating because it makes no sense and I feel as if the software is punishing me for reasons I don't understand by threatening to delete all my content off my phone. Is there absolutely no way to transfer my music to my iPhone without deleting everything currently on and completely rebuilding my music library from scratch?

  • Deleted all my music from my ipod. how do i recover it?

I wanted to load all my music from my ipod on to my computer and I think I deleted it from my ipod. its gone.... nowhere to be found.

You should manage all your music in your iTunes library and sync some or all of it to your iPod - you should also maintain a backup of your library to safeguard against computer/hard disc issues or other failures.  An iPod is not designed or suitable as a data storage device.  There are methods to retrieve media from an iPod (some of which require the use of third party tools), but if your music is neither on your computer nor on your iPod then it is gone.  The exceptions to this are prior iTunes Store purchases, which you may be able to download again, or having an existing iTunes Match subscription which would allow you to retrieve your library content from Apple's cloud services.  Obviously any other music that you own can be re-imported from the original source, including your CDs and - in most cases - previous digital purchases from Amazon, Google Play, etc.

  • I synced my iPhone with iTunes, and it deleted all my music on my computer and my iPhone except for what I'd purchased using the iPhone. The rest of my music is still on my iPad, so how do I get it from my iPad to the computer, and back on my phone?

The rest of my music is still on my iPad, so how do I get it from my iPad to the computer, and back on my phone? All my music is sitting there safely on my iPad, but whenever I try to sync it with my computer the only option I get is to wipe the iPad and replace it with the files on the computer---which is only a fraction of what I had originally. How do I fix this?? It even deleted my playlists, and I now only have some 200 songs left out of what used to be over 1000!

It can not do that all by itself.
When you plugged it in, iTunes said 'Oh goody! You got a new phone! Would you like to make it just like your old phone?'...
    You explicitly said 'Yes'.
    You can't undo that.
No backup of the current state of the new phone was made. It was wiped and the last backup of your old phone was restored to it.
Anything you had on the new phone is gone.
