Itunes skips on airport express after upgrade

I have been using Itunes wirelessly with airport express for years, not a single issue. Then I upgraded to Itunes 9.0.2 and at the same time I installed ther latest security update (I think 2009 006). Both updates were installed simultaneously.
But from that moment on I lost the ability to use Itunes through Airport Express. It just skips every three or four seconds, stops, restarts, it's like going back to a vynil record with a deep scratch.
Works fine with internal loudpseakers and with the jack out. It's just airport express wirelessly that doesn't work.
Airport express firmware is 6.3, It is only connected to my hifi system. That is its only function. It is set as "join an existing network" and the existing network is fine. Airport utility reads it as functioning normally, and the light is green.
What can the change be? Should I go back to Itunes 9.0.0?
Thanks for your help
antonio

Hi,
Ive had an Airport Express since i bought my copy of Leopard, it worked brilliantly for ages, but then skipping started. Yes im on the 6.3 firmware and yes im using Snow Leopard with iTunes 9.0.2. But ive been having this problem for ages. Loads of people are recommending getting a copy of AirFoil (which pays for itself to be able to listen to Last.fm) and even turning off IPv6 but now, after a couple of days using it.. back to normal.. skipping every couple of minutes for about 10 seconds..
I cant help but think that theres a finite life for these AE devices, im sure Apple know about it (ive already put bug reports in via the normal channels) but its quite a bit of £ to spend on another one just to get the same result..
Its a brillant product, but i think after very sparse use for a couple of years doesnt really mean you need to buy a new one.

  • Can't use Airport Express after upgrading to Leopard

I use Airport Express for wireless printing and AirTunes via powered speakers/hifi. It was working very reliably until I upgraded to Leopard. Now, I am unable to use Airport Express. I get the blinking orange light, but when I scan with Airport Utility, Airport Express is not detected. Manual setup is grayed out, so I can't set it up at all. I am using Airport Utility Version 5.2.2 (522.3), and there does not seem to be any updates or patches to apply at the moment. I have tried on my iMac G5 and MacBook, with the same result on both computers.
I am also reading that many others are having problems with Airport Express after upgrading to Leopard, perhaps not with my specific hardware configuration, but this is very disappointing.
I am open to suggestions to try a few things to get it working, so any help is appreciated.

From the Mail menu, select "Preferences". Hit the Accounts tab. Select the Account. Under Account Information, reapply the user name and password.
Check with the provider if the account needs authentication. This is in the Advanced tab. Usually just a repeat of user name and password.

  • Airport Extreme 802.11n + iTunes 7.1 +Airport Express = Disaster!

Airport Extreme has the network with iTunes broadcasting to Airport Express stations round the house and as much internet as I can handle. Then we get the 7.1 iTunes download.
I can still broadcast the music but the load on the network with 7.1 is crazy... if I try a bit of browsing with Safari I can wait up to a minute for a page refresh. Turn off iTunes and the page refresh reverts to blink and you miss it...
So I'm now happily in the position where I can't listen to music AND browse the internet... errrm Apple... are you listening???
I use a MacPro 4gb RAM, with upgraded wireless to 802.11n, to broadcast iTunes. Network was set up on Airport Extreme. Airport Express plugs all clients on the network.
Airport Extreme / Mac Pro / Airport Express   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

errrm Apple is not here. Other users are though. Are you asking for help? There might be other users here in the user-to-user technical help discussions who can help you with your problem.

  • I have bought an airport express after being assured that I will be able to print from my IPad. I have installed airport utility on my Hp laptop and it is configured correctly but the printer I have is showing neither on laptop nor on IPad. Can u tell how

I bought an airport express after being assured that I will be able to AirPrint from my IPad. I have set up airport utility on my Hp laptop and configured it properly with the express. But still I'm not able to detect the printer attached to the USB port of airport express, neither on my laptop nor on my IPad. Can someone tell me if and how it can be done?

Who assured you that an AirPort Express would allow you to use AirPrint from an iPad. They were incorrect.
AirPrint from iPads and other iOS devices is only supported on a select few wireless network printers that expressly advertise that feature. An AirPort Express will not add that feature to a printer that does not support AirPrint. Also, for printers that do support AirPrint a wireless access point is not required since the printer needs to support wireless networks connections internally.
The HP laptop should however be able to print to the printer connected to the AirPort Express. Try also installing the Bonjour Print Services for Windows. It will make printer discovery a lot easier when using Bonjour enable devices like an AirPort Express.

Refer this article to reset Winsock to it's default.  Your PCTools may have inserted LSP.

After reset and restarting windows, you may get a prompt to remap LSP, click no.

  • Trouble with iTune and multiple airport express

    Hi,
I have a wifi network at home, a PC with windows XP and iTunes, and two airport express stations in other rooms.
I can't figure out why iTunes sometimes sees the "other speakers" (ie airport express stations), sometimes don't, and sometimes sees only one of the two.
The leds are always green on the remote stations, and they are seen in the airport administrator.
Closing iTunes and running it again usually helps (but not always)
Is that something anyone already experienced ?
    Thx for help.
    Nico

It has been working fine for two days nows, and this morning : no express stations on iTunes...
And they are neither seen in the Aiport Admin utility .

Sounds like your iPhone was previously hacked/jailbroken. If true, try using google.

  • Can no longer connect to Airport Express with upgrade to iTunes 10.1

Since I upgraded to iTunes 10.1 I can no longer connect to my Airport Express (unknown error-15000). Another computer on my betwork running an older version of iTunes still works on the Airport Express.
Any ideas? I have tried to uninstall and reinstall airport express with no success.

Rather than disabling the firewall, try making sure you've got exceptions in it for BonJour. Although the following document is about a different error message, the instructions in there are worth trying. (At step 7, make sure there's an exception for BonJour as well.)

  • ITunes sending at least -20db to airport express after security update

Hi all, did anyone notice anything strange after this week's security update?
My airport express is conected to a receiver and the volume was ok, 65w per channel and a pair of decent JBL speakers.
Now i need to set up my receiver to 0 db (maximum volume) to get an audible sound. I think that if there was something wrong with my receiver i should be getting no sound at all or at least some weird sound. Can anyone help me with this one?
Everytime i turn on iTunes i get a big pop sound through the receiver/speakers, and this was not happening before.
Well, i guess this is either a bug or my receiver is broken...
    Thanks in advance, Leo.
Does Apple have anything to say?

I already checked the receiver with a different sound source and it's all working fine.
I guess it is either a bug or a hardware issue on airport express.
Please help me. I can't live with wires anymore...
    Thanks.

  • Airport Error after upgrading iTunes

Sheesh, this is why I hate to upgrade versions of my software when they are working perfectly. I'm on Tiger 10.4.11 and I have an Airport Express connected to my stereo to stream iTunes. I've had no problems until last night when I did the stupid thing an I upgraded to iTunes 8. Now when I try to connect to my Base Station via Airport Express, I get an error that states "An Error occurred while connecting to the remote speaker "Base Station 05f205". An unknown error occurred (-3256). The Base Station 05f205 has worked flawlessly until now. Is Apple falling into the IBM Syndrome where upgrades ruin everything?

I answered my own question. The iTunes Help menu led me to an Apple link to download updated firmware for my Airport Express, so it appears to work again. One would think that the Airport Express would open a window telling you that there is updated software available, like many other programs do on the Mac.

  • Can't configure Airport Express after firmware upgrade 6.2.

I have an Airport Extreme (V5.6) and I recently upgraded my Aiport Express to firmware 6.2. I was using the Express to extend my range and attach to my stereo for iTunes. I went out of town and took the Airport Express with me to use in my hotel rooms. Everything was fine. When I returned and I re-attached the Airport Express to the system at home, it said there was a firmware upgrade, so I went ahead and did the upgrade. Since that time, iTunes has not been able to recognize the Express. It tries, but cannot find it. I then tried to reconfigure the Aiport Express but i get an error message "An error occurred while attempting to communicate with the AirPort Express. (-8)". Does anybody have a solution. I'm afraid to update the Base Station firmware for fear that I might run into the same problem. I'm running an aluminum Powerbook G4(1.25 ghz).

    Hi,
I don't really know the solution, but the Airport Express firmware is now at 6.3. Maybe you should use this latest one to see what's happen...

  • Not seeing Airport Express after Leopard Upgrade

Just upgraded by macbook to leopard, and now it's not seeing my airport express base station. the card is working fine (sees and connects to other networks) and the base station itself is connected to the internet (iphone can access it). when i turn airport off then on, system preferences will show my network as connected briefly before disconnecting, and after that i can't connect to my network again. airport utility does not see the base station.

Perform a Factory Default Reset on the Express as follows:
    Power off the Express
    Wait a minute
Hold in the reset button first, and keep holding for an additional 10 seconds while you plug the Express back in to power
Release the reset button after the hold period
Allow a full minute for the Express to restart to a slow, blinking amber light
    On the iMac running Leopard.....
Make sure that you have the wireless turned on at the top of the screen so your Mac is connected to the network
Open Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities > AirPort Utility
When the Express appears in the window, click Continue
Enter a name for the Express and a device password, then click Continue
Select the option to Join your current network, then click Continue
Select the option for the Express to wirelessly join your network and click Continue
Click on the arrow in the drop down box and then select the name of your wireless network, or type in the name of your wireless network
    Wireless Security = WPA/WPA2 Personal
Enter your wireless network password and verify, then click Continue
    Click Update, then click Continue
Close AirPort Utility and wait a minute for the Express to restart. If your settings are correct, you will see a green light.
The Express is now set up

  • Can't communicate with Airport Express after WIN upgrade?

I upgraded to Windows7-64 from XP and my itunes will not communicate with my airport express. I get a green light on the unit and on AP Utility. Back on iTunes, on the multiple speaker drop down list, the name of my APEx device is displayed with a checkmark but there is a lock symbol over an exclamation mark in a triangle.. Please help.

Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the sleep and home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons.
This works for some users. Not sure why.
Go to Settings>General>Date and Time> Set Automatically>Off. Set the date ahead by about a year. Then see if you can connect to the store.
