ITunes Store is slow

Recently in the past month or two, the iTunes store has been really slow. The "Accessing iTunes Store" loading prompt pops up frequently. It does this while just typing in the search bar as well, so that it takes quite a long time to search anything as it will stop you every two letters or so. I removed the application and reinstalled it but no luck. Any clue why it is doing this? I have friends with the same problem.

Sure is slow for me. Downloading angry birds @ 13mb on a 25Mb/s connection and it says 25 minutes to complete.

why is downloading movies from the itunes store so slow?

    Hi there
Many users seem to be experiencing this issue around the world (see thread  https://discussions.apple.com/message/16981332#16981332) - my iTunes dowload last night showed 7 hours ETA for a 45 minute tv show.  this morning I rebooted it and tried again, it is now taking 2 hours.  An improvement in theory but still terrible.  I don't know if it is internet connection but everything else I do on the internet seems to be running at normal pace.....
Not much help sorry but at least you can see you are not alone
    Cheers

  • Why is the iTunes Store so slow for me?

I have fast cable internet but when I surf the iTunes store it's like I'm on dial-up or something. Especially with previewing songs and loading pages etc. It's been this way for quite some time, I'm using iTunes version 10. Thanks.

you know very well it has nothing to do with itunes or the modem/router.  apple servers are very very slow and its an absolute disgrace.
you can download from third party servers at twice the speeds (at your own risk)
Apple is the second largest company in the world and they treat customners in this way

  • ITunes Store much slower in iTunes 9

I'm finding that the iTunes Store is very much slower loading then it is in iTunes 8. I'm using an iMac G5 2 GHz, Mac OS 10.4.11, with iTunes 9 , and a G4 iMac 800MHz, Mac OS 10.4.11, with iTunes 8.2.1

I use Safari as my Default Browser. I have my content stored on 1Tb ext drive - very few problems with iTunes and ATV since I added my ext drive to my startup menu causing it to open before iTunes but.....
Just bought Angels & Demons on my laptop and have been presented with an estimated download time of 55hrs!!!
I did resolve an LP download issue yesterday by pointing iTunes to my laptop for storage - download had taken over 24hrs but was complete in under an hour when the content was stored on laptop as opposed to ext HDD.
I know that any new release of iTunes causes an increase in interest on a global scale but I don't think that the problem is weight of traffic as suggested elsewhere....
Edit / Update - Over 1hr to download 24mb of the movie file - any news from Apple as to why this is happening?

  • Initial search on ITunes store very slow

We're using ITunes 7.6 on a Windows Vista PC. Users without parental controls can access the store with no issues. Kids accounts, though, can access Itunes and the store, but the initial search is very slow - 10 minutes on a 6 MB DSL connection. When these searches finally complete, access is then at expected speeds - a few seconds per request. I have not had any successful tips from tech support yet. We have uninstalled and reinstalled Itunes and Quicktime.

tspatt,We didn't have luck with adding http://ax.phobos.apple.com.edgesuite.net/ to the allowed web addresses in Vista's Parental Controls.  We already had apple.com allowed. We still have the same problem with the iTunes store taking several minutes to load.Call me a cynic, but, I think Apple really isn't motivated to find a solution.  I think they like seeing MS product users experience pain.  On the flip side, we already know that MS likes all of it's competitors to fail.If you have Windows XP or Vista and want Parental Controls, the only solution seems to be to use a different music provider instead of iTunes.

  • Downloading from iTunes Store very slow

I am using iTunes 11.1.3 and download to my external hard drive on my MacBook Pro version OS X 10.9. I haven't had a problem with download speeds until now. Downloading a 22.5mb TV show is taking up to 3hrs. My internet (wireless) is running fine elsewhere in my home. I can watch apple tv via itunes store purchases just fine streaming as well as Netfix. Suggestions?

    Hey there Kimber.c,
It sounds like your Wi-Fi connection is very slow on this computer. I would try the steps in this section of the article named:
Wi-Fi: How to troubleshoot Wi-Fi connectivity
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4628?viewlocale=en_US
Symptom: The Wi-Fi network seems slow
Streaming movies may skip or pause.
iTunes or other downloads may take an unusually long time to complete.
    Webpages may not load quickly.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling

  • Why is iTunes Store so slow?

Over the past week or so, my iTunes store has been so slow it actually never loads.  The libraries work fine.  My internet connection is fine.  I've uninstalled iTunes and reinstalled it (Version 10.4.1.10).  The iTunes diagnostics test indicated everything was fine.  I read in the forums that a couple years ago people had the same problem and it was an update on a virus program that caused the problems.  I use McAffee Virus Scan Plus.  This was not the offending brand from a couple years ago.  Has anybody else had similar issues recently or have a solution?   Thanks

I have the same problem and when I run diagnostics it says unable to connect to a secure server.  If you go into the Help menu and click diagnostics, then uncheck all but the top option and run it; then click next after it runs ... you will get a diagnostics detail that can be copied to your clipboard and posted.  This is what people need to help you.

  • ITunes Store is slow when returning sorting and display 50+ songs

    Hello
I frequently have problems whith iTunes Store searche results. For example today, I searched for Pitbull songs, and clicked on "display all" to get the list like display. Then I sorted the  200+ songs by clicking on popularity. Sorting was surprisingly slow. Using the scrollbar was also very slow, sometimes scrolling down continuously just after one click on the scrollbar, and more often laging.
My laptop has a Dual Core 2 processor @ 2.4GHz, 4Go of RAM, and a high quality WIFI signal, with win 7 64 bits. In addition no other software with high CPU usage were running  in background.
Does any one have noticed the same problem  ? Any advice to fix this.
    Thanks
    GaBo

I'm observing the same problem. iTunes is nearly frozen, especially podcasts make the system extremely slow, no downloads possible at all. Opening an album song list is also painfully slow. All this prevents me from buying from the store. Apple should be interested in this. Please note that I'm not using iTunes match!

  • ITunes store very slow on search bar

Is there a problem with the search facility in the iTunes store? It is extremely slow (takes ages). Actually going into the home page and clicking hyperlinks/fast links to albums etc. is normal and fast. However when I search for a song or artist it either takes ages or just doesn't happen and it's becoming extremely frustrating. I have only noticed this today. My iTunes version is 7.0.2.16
    Thanks in advance

I believe this is a problem itunes is having and needs to sort out. it's happening to a lot of people, myself included. It just can't seem to search for anything thatis even the slightest bit "uncommon" or just for individual song or album titles without names. it's very frustrating, but i have seen in other discussion boards of people with the same problem that it is probably an apple issue.

  • ITunes Store ridiculously slow

I have a £25 iTunes voucher, and so I tried to buy a song today on iTunes. BIG MISTAKE, it's currently been downloading for 5-10 minutes, and is at '448kb - 3 hours remaining'.
This is ridiculous - I have a fine connection - Spotify would just play the track, Amazon would download it in 3 minutes. I can't see how I'm going to be able to spend any of my store credit if it's like this. Sort it out Apple. This is a joke.

There's tons of people in Australia also experiencing majorly slow downloads from the iTunes store, which is completely abnormal.
This problem has troubled me since November 3, and so far it's been getting worse. I used to be able to download at over 2 Megabytes/sec from the store, now downloads are crawling at anything from 30 to 200 k/sec

  • Itunes store impossibly slow

I don't know what is going on ...but since upgrade of itunes 7.2 and this new DRM free stuff in the iTunes Store I find the downloads of my purchases too slow, it is unacceptable.
Also so many error messages. Prior to all the changes I had No problems.
What is going on , time for a little bug fix ???
Is any one else having these hiccups?
iBook G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   I also own a Video iPod and a beautiful little RED nano

People all over the world are all trying to upgrade their tracks today. I'd guess the servers are a bit overloaded.

  • ITunes Store extremely slow...

There are moments (often) when the iTunes Store is just extremely slow. I'll buy a movie and it will tell me it'll be ready in 3 hours. How am I supposed to watch anything on my iPad or Apple TV?

The widgets weren't working either, clean installs seem to fix everything, even if they take several hours.

  • Slow at initial loading of some Pages - and iTunes Store is slow as well...

    Hi all,
Since some days, I noticed that Safari loads some of the pages very slowly, such as Ebay, Appleinsider, and also Apple.com. Once you are on a page, the navigation inside is mostly quite normal - also the download speed is within it's usual range. But inital loading of a lot of sites takes almost a minute's time. Also iTunes Store loads very very slowly. I freshly installed 10.4.8 recently to (successfully) fix another problem I had with my AirportExpress, so I frankly would not know what setting might be affected here. Did anyone experience the same issues? Thanks a lot.

    Hi Dave,
Network type problems have been reported with 10.4.8. The usual remedy has been either to "repair permissions" using Disk Utility in your Utility folder, or to reapply the 10.4.8 combined update, applying permissions after the install/restart.
One other remedy for Network type problems that has seemed to help others:
Go to your System Preferences>Network panel: make sure in the Show drop down menu in Network Configuration, your primary cable protocol, in your case "airport" is first on the list (you can drag it there). Other protocols you don't use ought to be unchecked. Then in the Show menu, select "airport". In the airport panel remove any wi-fi locations you don't use (if you travel and use wi-fi, there's a tendency to accumulate these things). Lastly, in the TCP panel>DNS servers, enter 4.2.2.2, which is a Verizon number available to the public. Select "apply".
One last thing, make sure your Airport version is up-to-date - 6.3. You can check this via Software Update in System Preferences.

  • Itunes Store is Slow on A regular Vista Account, but not a Administrator.

Something is seriously wrong with my iTunes. When I go to the Itunes Store on my REGULAR Vista Account, it just says Accessing iTunes store for a couple minutes, I see the page, than it will save Accessing iTunes store again and again.... But when i go on my mom's ADMINISTRATOR Vista account, her iTunes store is uber fast. Less than a second and the page is viewed. Its not my RAM or my Internet Speed, I know its good. Someone help plz?

    Thanks King_Penguin,
Unfortunately it wouldn't allow me to since I have a balance on my account and still have season passes to finish.  I was able to change it though by going to a link with a US song on it and when I clicked on the song it told me I was in the wrong store and would have to change and I hit o.k. and it changed it back to the US store so all is good now.
    Thank you again.
    Scott
