IWeb 08 Navbar

Hiya
I have a website built using iweb 08 and a forum using the phpBB3 software. I am trying to create a bespoke look for my phpBB forum and wanted to put the iWeb navbar at the top of the page. I have exported the first page as a html file but wanted to know if anyone can help me identify which part of the code I need to copy across to the phpBB files.
Thanks
M

M:
The navbar is java based and the code is located in the Site/Scripts/Widgets/Navbar folder in a file named, surprisingly enough, navbar.js. How you would apply or place that is beyond me. But Cyclosaurus, who's the most knowledgeable java script person here, may be able to describe how to apply that.
A low tech method would be to build a text based navbar like in this demo page.

  • IWeb Navbar widget

    Hi All
    My nav bar works fine on my mac but when previewed with IE i get a warnings about running scripts and blocked content, even if i allow blocked content i end up with no navigation menu. Is there a iweb fix or is it just microsoft again?

    This is primarily to do with Internet Explorer.
    Your solution is to hide the page template navigation bars and build your own text based nav bar and this will not happen. Open the Inspector in iWeb and go to Page and then click on hide nav bar and show page in nav bar and then go about creating your own nav bar using text boxes or shapes etc. Once finished - don't forget to hyperlink to your pages too, you can place it anywhere on your page, top, bottom, sides etc.

  • How do you change the color of the navigation bar text  in iWeb?

    I have created buttons to set in the nav bar but the type color needs to be white to show up against the button background.
    How can I change the nav bar text colors?
    Thanks

  • IWeb Page Width Frustrations - Can't get it to scale appropriately

    So, I've been googling and trying to figure out the answer to this question for a few hours here, and can't seem to figure it quite out.
    I'm using the Freestyle theme, and I want to make the page layout a bit wider, so I set the page width to 980 px. After doing this, I can expand / scale to fill everything except the header graphic. I can't seem to figure out a way to select it to expand it.
    Has anyone had this problem? How do I go about getting the header to fit my page? Many points to the answerer of this problem.
    Picture of the problem -
    http://imgur.com/sGt2b.jpg

    Because that theme and most of the others except for Black, White, Modern Frame and Formal (except for the Blog layout) use non scalable graphic elements as part of their layout design you won't be able to widen the page automatically. You might try placing a shape of the color you want under the navbar and over the existing object.
    For maximum control over a site's design use one of the four themes I mentioned above and add your own layout graphics. To make the navbar font colors, regular, rollover and visited, something other than what the theme provides you can follow the instructions in this tutorial: #24 - How to Change the Basic, Rollover and Visited Color of an iWeb Navbar.

  • How can i edit / customize the font in the navigation bar in iweb?r

    how can I edit / customize font size and color in the navigation bar on an iweb created page?

    This tutorial may help: #24 - How to Change the Basic, Rollover and Visited Color of an iWeb Navbar.  It only applies to the various colors.
    Wyodor has posted code to be put in an HTML snippet that will increase the font size.
    <script language="JavaScript" type="text/javascript">
    <!--
    navDiv = parent.document.getElementById("widget0-navbar-list");
    navDiv.setAttribute("style", "font-size: 1.1em;");
    // -->
    </script>
    Increase the size by increments of .1 until you get the size you want.  You'll need to publish the site before you'll see the change.
    If you only have a couple of pages in your site you can create your own text based navbar.  That will give you complete  control over font, size, color, spacing, etc. However, be sure to use only  Web Safe Fonts or the navbar will not look like you want it on those computers that do not have the font you used installed. This demo page is an example: Text Based Navbar.  With more than a couplke of pages updating such a navbar can become a real pain.  However, it is much more search engine friendly.

  • IWeb & Link Color

    My default link color appears as red. This applies to any "page links" that show at the top of the page, as well as internal links like links that I put in my blog entries.
    Is there a way to change the default link color? It seems like it is a very basic necessity to a website to have link colors that actually correspond to the website.
    Thanks!

    So there is a way to access the source code of what I build in iWeb? Not that it is fun to have to change things manually, but if that is a solution then I'll take it.
    iweb navbar css is rendered by javascript widget and the code is in the page source.
    you can change it if you like, but it isn't practical because you have to post edit every time you publish your site.
    I did run a forum search before posting this, but oddly enough what I found I could only view the original post and no replies - so it didn't do me too much good.
    the link in my previous post was to lay out all the possible method, you pick your poison and acquire the needed knowledge, except for method #4.
    Sad that Apple would leave out something as basic as changing some generic website preferences like link color. That makes me a bit wary about actually using iWeb for large-scale projects :-\
    give them feedback: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iweb.html
    that said, navbar is the simplest of iweb widgets; just about everything in it can be changed with ajax and javascript, see this thread:

  • Iweb Problems alot! :(

    So whats going on,
    so i redo my site, and trying to do it, and it seeems all ok inside inside iweb and after done hours or work and publish the site and now i will go look at the site, and there so small bugs.. like if i made a menu, where i have
    someting called
    Home About Photos mac etc etc
    now the home have a gray colder and the one in i web is purple and the sarir is showing gray and i have shadow on some of the objects and when i use firefox there are gone. and now reseting iweb
    and mac, and now i load up the safari and there is more shadow light under the to first objects and its a pain any others have this kida problems?
    can we get a fix.. i dont wanna pay for someting not working.. thanks

    The navbar is woking as it should for me. As far as the underline is concerned are you using the default navbar or did you create a new text based one? If it's the default iWeb navbar you can't change the formatting. For me all of the links are underlined.
    If you create your own Text Based Navbar you can control the font, size, color and rollover features.
    It looks like you are using your own navbar because of that graphic at the far right, correct? Is each link a separate text box or are all the links in one text box? Remember, to be able to set the underline on or off or set the rollover colors you must select the text itself as the link and not the text box.

  • IWeb template copyright

    So I am making a widget that is really more a of module or addition (Ie it requires several pages in its own right) that customers will be able to buy. As it is now, I have that widget embedded in an iWeb template, and this is how I would like to sell it. The majority of users will just take the widget's html/javascript code and put it into their own pages so no copyright issues there, but some of the less adept may just want to upload my widget, pages and all, and use them in their entirety.
    What do you think?
    I went through all of the pages that I would like to pass on - I have trimmed out a lot of the apple javascript as it really is not cross-browser capable and is fairly bloated. The code of the pages I would like to pass on mention nothing of copyright except for navbar.js which says:
    "// iWeb - navbar.js // Copyright (c) 2007 Apple Inc. All rights reserved."
    A few of the other ones just say:
    "// Created by iWeb 2.0.4 local-build-20100911"
    So maybe I can't use navbar.js, but I am fine with the other ones? What does all rights reserved mean here? Really appreciate the help. Not a lawyer and have no desire to be accosted by one. Thanks again. The answer may be in the license agreement, but I really don;t feel qualified to interpret that.

  • How can I fix a nav bar that wraps to a second line?

    I have a single line of text on the navigation bar while I'm working in iweb but when published it wraps to a second line. I tried extending the page width which seemed to help on my home page but the other pages still have 2 lines.

    some theme has large fo font size and/or wide padding for navbar items.
    iweb navbar is rendered by javascript widget, so you can use javascript to change them:

  • Domain and Browser Issues

    My wife recently developed a website for her art gallery using iWeb. We upload the website using the mobileme client - which uploaded the website with no problems. A couple of days later we purchased a domain: www.intensebluegallery.com and would like to use that exclusively for the site.
    Strangely, we can get to her website www.intensebluegallery through the Safari browser - but we're unable to get to the website using Internet Explorer.
    Is there something we need to fix? Can anyone help? Thanks a million!

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
    but we're unable to get to the website using Internet Explorer.
    What do you get when you try to load your site in IE? Does it just lock up?
    IE is notoriously bad when it comes to adhering to web standards for code, etc. and iWeb sticks to them very closely. One of the issues with IE and iWeb sites is the navbar. It is javascript based. One of the suggestions to make iWeb more compatible with IE is to hide the iWeb navbar and create your own Text Based Navbar. However, it can be a pain to update every page if you add a page to the site.
    One of our more experienced users here, Roddy, uses Web Site Maestro to optimize his files before uploading to the server. It can reduce a page's size by nearly 40 percent in some cases which is a big help with IE. IE will freeze if a page has a lot of images on it. I've started using it with some of my sites on MobileMe and it will optimize the files and upload only those that have been changed or added.
    Look for some of Roddy's posts about Web Site Maestro or about Internet Explorer to get more info on the subject.

  • Changing link navigation bar font and color

    Is it possible to change the font and color on the links for each page on iWeb?

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Yes, with the code and a HTML snippet that's described in this tutorial: #24 - How to Change the Basic, Rollover and Visited Color of an iWeb Navbar.
    However, if you want to create a site that is more search engine friendly I suggest you create a text based navbar as described in this demo page: Text Based Navbar. If you don't have a lot of pages in your site it's not too difficult.

  • Layouts

    I've created a new layout and assigned it as the default layout for the page and placed the portlets on it. I then synched my changed. The portlets do not appear where I placed them. The layout is a two row table with the first row split into two columns. One portlet is in the left column and 3 portlets are in the right. These three do not appear in the order I placed them. The 2nd row is one column spanning the 2 columns from above. The portlet I placed in here sometimes appears in the second column of the first row.
    Do you know what causes this to happen?
    Thank you.

    All of the themes except for Black, White, Modern Frame and Formal (except for the blog page) use graphic files as part of the design which cannot be resized so the width of the page is fixed.
    If you want to customize a theme by adding additional graphics you can. But you won't be able to change the default graphics as far as size or removing them is concerned.
    For maximum customization user one of those 4 themes mentioned above and add your own design elements. If you need to change the font color for the navbar that can be done by following this tutorial: #24 - How to Change the Basic, Rollover and Visited Color of an iWeb Navbar.

  • Can I add a custom .html page as a separate page within my site?

    I'm creating a website for my local baseball association using iWeb 1.1.2.
    I'm given several .xls files for schedules, rosters, etc. and I can save them as an .htm/hmtl page.
    But within iWeb, it doesn't look like I can import them as a separate page within my site.
    Is this possible? I suppose my only option is to create an external link to the pages correct?
    Will iWeb '11 allow me to do this?
    Thanks!

    Yes, you can in one of two ways:
    1 - put the custom page on your server and embed it into one of your iWeb pages using an HTML snippet and iFrame code as done in this demo page: Embed a Site Within an iWeb Page.
    2 - put the custom page on your server and in iWeb create a totally blank page, name it for the custom page and add the following redirect code in an HTML snippet:
    <script type="text/javascript">
    parent.window.location = "URL TO THE CUSTOM PAGE"; </script>
    Thanks to Cyclosaurus for this code
    When the visitor clicks on the page in your iWeb navbar they will immediately be redirected to the custom page.  You'll need to add a link on the custom page to send them back to your iWeb site.
    If you modify/update the custom page it will be automatically updated in your iWeb site without having to open iWeb.
    UPDATE:  3 - or add an HTML snippet to on of your pages and put the HTML code from the custom page into it.  That will display the custom page on your iWeb page.
