Iweb seems a bit limited

i like the idea of iweb and how it works, but...
how do you edit html code?
how do you add custom javascripts to pages?
how do you add folders and files to the site tree (if possible at all) for downloads for example?
how do you change the template so you can customise the entire look and feel of the page, eg. background image, menu layout, etc?

There is .js file associated with every page you made in iWeb, that's where you add your javascript code.

nope, iWeb makes flat site structure. You are on your own if you want tree structure.

Ipod Seems a Bit Slow (Laggy?)

I have filled up my 60gb ipod a little over half of it with just music. It seems a bit slow now trying to explore through menus... is this normal? If not, how can I go about fixing or improving it? It's getting a bit tedious now because it's hard to distinguish what you are doing at times. Thanks.

Thats normal, the new 1.2 firmware slowed thing as down a tad with all its new features. I don't mind much, cause the new freaure were much needed (Like gapless playback). Unfortunaly there is no way to to make things run a little snappier. Or at least not anyway I have found.

Hi there, have just tried purchasing an album in iTunes but the price tab is greyed out. This is like it for non explicit songs, yet the explicit songs and albums I can purchase fine. Seems a bit back to front to me, any ideas?

IWeb Video Frame Size Limitation?

I can't seem to be able to place a movie into iWeb that is any larger than 640x360. It seems that when I try to drag something larger than this into the program, then part of the video gets cut off. Is this a limitation of iWeb '08? Is there any way around this? Does anyone know if this gets fixed in iWeb '09?

The default page width in iWeb is only 700 px wide for some reason.
I use a "standard" page width of 980 px because this will fit most screens without the viewer having to scroll horizontally and also translates well to the iPhone.
If you increase the page width to a bit wider than the size of the width you want the movie, then it will stretch.
This is done in the Page inspector Layout menu.
It also helps if you "Show Layout" from the view menu or do Shift - Command - L.
This will show you the edges of your page.

I seem to be limited to 4MB/s... Did I annoy someb...

I've been having problems with my broadband connection/speed over the past few weeks. On the 27th I put in a call and reported a fault. The guy I spoke to said "my issue would be resolved within 4 days" and it wasn't... So I called again last night. Now, maybe I should have waited 4 WORKING days but since the help line is open 24/7 I assumed that BT would be working 24/7 to fix this. Silly of me? Maybe. But an honest mistake on my part!! I use the Internet 24/7 so I notice the second I have a problem and I don't like to be messed around any more than the next man. Anyway, I called up last night and was told there was no fault... The guy told me to replace the filters as a faulty filter could cause my broadband to drop out and slow down. I only replaced them a couple of months ago and I don't have spares so he said he would send some out, free of charge, and I would have them within 2 working days. I highly doubt that the filter is the problem but anyway, I continued to test my line and when I went to sleep at around 11pm my speed was around 3.5MB/s. I just woke up (3am) and have been testing for an hour...normaly at this time I'm achieving speeds in excess of 6MB/s but I've not been able to get anything over 4MB/s and I'm getting very consistent results of around 3.9MB/s... I'm no expert but it does seem like I have been limited to 4MB/s. Here is a screen shot of my speed test results presented in a graph:

you can see a very suspicious looking flat line there which is very unusual and only seems to have started since I put in the call last night. You can also see my speed dropping out to less than 1MB/s so you know I'm really not making this issue up!!! I pay the full price for the full package with unlimited downloads etc and I use the Internet A LOT. I suffer with mental health issues and I'm at home all the time on the Internet so having my service disrupted like this has had a BIG effect on me and maybe I am become obsessed?.. But I know there is a problem!!! I cant play online games because I keep getting disconnected. This is a problem that has only existed for the last few weeks..i never had a problem before and I've been gaming at this address for over 2 years. I UNDERSTAND THAT MY SPEED WILL DROP DURING PEAK TIMES!!!!!!!!!!!!! But that has never stopped me from gaming before and on the 27th when I put in the first call I couldn't even stream a 240p youtube video... It was that bad.
I have ordered new filters form Amazon (don't wanna wait 2 days) so I can confirm that isn't the problem when I call them back but I just don't see what else I can do about this and having my speed limited seems extremely unfair! I wasn't rude at all in anyway. I just asked him what was going on. Maybe I am being totally paranoid??? But this is really driving me insane!! I just want to get back to some kind of normality and i have a nasty feeling that BT wont do anything to help. i cant "live with it" i would rather cancel my contract than live with this.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated!!

it maybe worth adding that although my connection normally does slow down in the evenings, its not every day that it tends to cut out and drop down to silly speeds (less than 500KB/s). I had no problems on Friday or Saturday night and was recording speeds of over 4MB/s even at peak times. It was Sunday afternoon that the problem seemed to start again, dropping to less than 1MB/s and I was getting a 250ms Ping with a -166% packet loss. This really makes no sense to me... How can it lose more packets than it started with? Or am I reading the results wrong? Anyway, it wasn't as bad as the 27th but still unusable really. And your right I am very close to the exchange. I could probably throw a stone at it while standing in my garden.

This drop in speed is understandable at this time and today my Ping is great at 55ms. Was around 3pm yesterday that I first got disconnected from my gaming session. And I did a speed test which recorded a bandwidth of around 2MB/s with a Ping around 100-150ms. I'll test again at 7pm and post the results.

So there seems to be no problem at all this evening. Ping is great. Speed is fine. Not really any issues today... You could easily believe that there is no issue at all... And that's exactly why it makes no sense to me. 1 day its fine and the next mi getting cut off, speeds drop way below what they should be and my ping is all over the place. Am I to accept this as normal service now? I'm really not happy about it. There have been times that the speed has dropped way below "the acceptable range of speeds" and so I'm finding it hard to believe there isn't a problem... Only thing left to do now is get the new filters and wait to see if they resolve the issue.

Ping Flood??
I did receive threats just recently that I would be hacked... Could this possibly be the issue?
Had problems from around 8pm -10:30pm. Speed was ranging wildly from 0.7MB/s to 4.0MB/s during this time and the ping was also all over the place. Take a look at this:

Speed and ping seemed to very quickly return to normal (55ms 5-6MB/s) around 10:30pm
and had no problems up until 2:20am when I lost Internet connection again. Seemed exactly the same as earlier in that I couldn't load a webpage but the broadband light on my home hub was glowing blue.that only lasted for a few minutes and now everything is fine again.

Is there some place where I can submit a ticket ? Seems like FF limits DOM elements' width and height to 10,000,000px since it transforms this number into scientific notation. e.g. 10,000,000px becomes 1e+7px which obviously can't be interpreted. Cheers

I've reproduced this issue from FF 3.6.13 on windows XP and mac osx 10.6.8.
On FF 3.6.13 the number of pixels limit seems lower with exactly 8,388,607.

The 12" PB internals are a bit more complex, for PB's. If you don't want to replace the hard drive yourself or pay someone to install it, you could always get an external firewire hard drive, and use it to boot from and for general usage. Would have to be firewire, since the PB won't book from a USB device. 64-bit system incorrectly recognized as 32-bit, limits RAM usage in Illustrator 17.1

Hi Everyone,
This is my first post, I usually dig my answers up on the forums without needing to post anything. My problem is simple:
My system is 64-bit, but Illustrator CC (17.1) sees the system at 32-bit and limits me to 4gb RAM. This issue is similar to one reported here http://forums.adobe.com/message/5420321 but I am using the 64-bit application, so the quick fix there didn't work for me.
Here is my system info:
Dell Precision T7600
Intel Xeon CPU - E5-2620 @ 2.00 GHz (2 Processors, 6 Cores each)
16 GB RAM
64-bit Windows 7 Professional SP1
Here is what Adobe Illustrator CC 17.1 reports as my system info:
OS: Windows
Version: 6.1
System Architecture: x86
Built-In Memory: 16341 MB
Application Folder:
C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Illustrator CC (64 Bit)\Support Files\
Even though the reported built in memory is 16 GB, I have hit memory errors at 4GB of usage several times. Needless to say this is very frustrating when working on complex files. Does anyone have similar problems or know a workaround?

Volume Rocker, seems a bit depressed-in at the top

I was looking at my volume rocker and noticed it seems like it was more depressed in than that button portion of the rocker and the bottom portion makes a bit more of louder click where the top barely does and sometimes not at all.
curious if this is significant to have checked out.
i have only had two cases with this iPad. Apple supplied case and the Incase folio (which the incase offered ample room for the volume rocker so i dont think it was stuck on the incase).

yeah, I just wasnt sure if overtime it lose traction on adjusting the volume.
I'm not going to waste their time if its a non-issue just wasnt sure if it seemed like something like a depressed button would have a negative effect overtime.

Folders seem to be limited to just one page

I tried to move an app (call it #1) into a folder and it wouldn't move. When I checked the folder had a full page of apps in it. I removed one of them (call it #2) and then was able to move #1 into the folder.
This seems like a fairly serious design flaw as it is going to force users to create multiple folders for similar apps ie. once you have 16 games in a "Games" folder you have to create a new "Games_2" folder.
Am I missing something?

You are not. Folders are currently limited to one page.

Anybody else notice that the camera seems a bit more stable?

Maybe I am just being hopeful but I have snapped 2000+ pics with my iphone and now it seems to be a bit more stable on images....

I have been unable to publish my website due to this message "iweb quit unexpectedly - the problem may have been caused by FTP plug-in" - Iweb seems to register all pages, then crashes before publishing.Tried quite few thread trouble shoots, no luck.Help?

Have just started using iweb and have small site of about 5 pages, plus blog. I have yet been able to publish, each time I try iweb crashes and receive following note -
The application iweb quite unexpectedly. The problem may have been caused by the FTPKit Plug-in.
I have tried a few troubleshooting methods recomended on other threads, ie. deleting caches, copying domain and reboots... but no luck.
Any help very much appreciated.

Reinstall iWeb from the source you got it from originallhy. Or, if you're running iWeb 3 download and apply or reapply the iWeb 3.0.4 updater. It included that plugin.

Allright, this seems a bit silly.

Hi, I'm currently in the process of getting Java to run on my computer. However(like everyone), Java seems to have trouble finding the .jar files I'm trying to import.
Those .jar files ARE in the jblahblah\lib\bin\ext\ directory. The environment variable PATH specifies that same directory. I even went through the trouble of putting the .jar files in the same folder as the program and putting THAT in the path. It still can't find it.

They both give me the same error when I tried them:
package BreezySwing.jar not found
package TerminalIO.jar not found
Why can't Java find these files? I know about the 'package' keyword, but I'm not sure if it pertains to this problem or not, and if it did, I don't know how to use it.

Aperture 3.3 after recent upgrade doesn't show icons in colour and I noticed the adjustments panel seems a bit different from the previous update.

I updated about a week ago an now all the icons are no longer in colour (ie, project, smart album etc) Really liked to see them in colour because it helped me sort more easily. Also, I seem to be missed my quick adjustments panel like auto adjust. I checked the aperture preferences but could not find anyway to correct.
Any suggestions?

Thanks Frank. Once I posted, I was able to find all the other discussions regarding this. I don't have time to manually change what Apple should have put into preferences. Will manage with it the way it is and send a request to Apple for future updates.

Dying Light still seems a bit buggy

Virals sometimes they just stand on a spot then walk away if you hit sometimes they scream 500db at you but don't do much except fast breathing whilst just standing there. When the little devils vomit is this a bug as well? I did ask on the Dying Light Forums & Techland Forums unfortunately no replies. Any tips hints of the above willl put my mind at ease.

If you believe it is acting a bit unusual try a reset. No data loss. Hold the home/lock buttons until the phone powers down, powers back on and you see an apple logo. Once you see the apple logo release the buttons. Allow the phone to complete booting up and use it as you normally would and see if you continue to notice any anomalies.

IWeb/.mac sites - commercial limitations or restrictions

I am wondering what the restrictions are here ?
I am setting up a book/software review site related primarily to Apple and graphic design and was wondering if I am allowed to have any links to Amazon.com on my .Mac site ?

As you've noticed, there are several users that have their businesses set up and they haven't been taken down. One thing that this statement could mean is that if you're planning the release of a new product and the day before your release, .Mac goes down for maintenance, there's nothing you can do but wait until your website comes back (since they've defined it as being of non-business use).
