I seem to be limited to 4MB/s... Did I annoy someb...

I've been having problems with my broadband connection/speed over the past few weeks. On the 27th I put in a call and reported a fault. The guy I spoke to said "my issue would be resolved within 4 days" and it wasn't... So I called again last night. Now, maybe I should have waited 4 WORKING days but since the help line is open 24/7 I assumed that BT would be working 24/7 to fix this. Silly of me? Maybe. But an honest mistake on my part!! I use the Internet 24/7 so I notice the second I have a problem and I don't like to be messed around any more than the next man. Anyway, I called up last night and was told there was no fault... The guy told me to replace the filters as a faulty filter could cause my broadband to drop out and slow down. I only replaced them a couple of months ago and I don't have spares so he said he would send some out, free of charge, and I would have them within 2 working days.  I highly doubt that the filter is the problem but anyway, I continued to test my line and when I went to sleep at around 11pm my speed was around 3.5MB/s. I just woke up (3am) and have been testing for an hour...normaly at this time I'm achieving speeds in excess of 6MB/s but I've not been able to get anything over 4MB/s and I'm getting very consistent results of around 3.9MB/s...  I'm no expert but it does seem like I have been limited to 4MB/s. you can see a very suspicious looking flat line there which is very unusual and only seems to have started since I put in the call last night. You can also see my speed dropping out to less than 1MB/s so you know I'm really not making this issue up!!! I pay the full price for the full package with unlimited downloads etc and I use the Internet A LOT. I suffer with mental health issues and I'm at home all the time on the Internet so having my service disrupted like this has had a BIG effect on me and maybe I am become obsessed?.. But I know there is a problem!!! I cant play online games because I keep getting disconnected. This is a problem that has only existed for the last few weeks..i never had a problem before and I've been gaming at this address for over 2 years. I UNDERSTAND THAT MY SPEED WILL DROP DURING PEAK TIMES!!!!!!!!!!!!! But that has never stopped me from gaming before and on the 27th when I put in the first call I couldn't even stream a 240p youtube video... It was that bad.
I have ordered new filters form Amazon (don't wanna wait 2 days) so I can confirm that isn't the problem when I call them back but I just don't see what else I can do about this and having my speed limited seems extremely unfair! I wasn't rude at all in anyway. I just asked him what was going on. Maybe I am being totally paranoid??? But this is really driving me insane!! I just want to get back to some kind of normality and i have a nasty feeling that BT wont do anything to help. i cant "live with it" i would rather cancel my contract than live with this.
Any advise would be greatly appreciated!!

Oh I see that would explain my problems this afternoon then.
it maybe worth adding that although my connection normally does slow down in the evenings, its not every day that it tends to cut out and drop down to silly speeds (less than 500KB/s). I had no problems on Friday or Saturday night and was recording speeds of over 4MB/s even at peak times. It was Sunday afternoon that the problem seemed to start again, dropping to less than 1MB/s and I was getting a 250ms Ping with a -166% packet loss. This really makes no sense to me... How can it lose more packets than it started with? Or am I reading the results wrong? Anyway, it wasn't as bad as the 27th but still unusable really.  And your right I am very close to the exchange. I could probably throw a stone at it while standing in my garden.

This drop in speed is understandable at this time and today my Ping is great at 55ms. Was around 3pm yesterday that I first got disconnected from my gaming session. And I did a speed test which recorded a bandwidth of around 2MB/s with a Ping around 100-150ms. I'll test again at 7pm and post the results.

So there seems to be no problem at all this evening. Ping is great. Speed is fine. Not really any issues today... You could easily believe that there is no issue at all... And that's exactly why it makes no sense to me. 1 day its fine and the next mi getting cut off, speeds drop way below what they should be and my ping is all over the place. Am I to accept this as normal service now? I'm really not happy about it. There have been times that the speed has dropped way below "the acceptable range of speeds" and so I'm finding it hard to believe there isn't a problem... Only thing left to do now is get the new filters and wait to see if they resolve the issue.

Ping Flood??
I did receive threats just recently that I would be hacked... Could this possibly be the issue?
Had problems from around 8pm -10:30pm. Speed was ranging wildly from 0.7MB/s to 4.0MB/s during this time and the ping was also all over the place. Take a look at this:

Speed and ping seemed to very quickly return to normal (55ms 5-6MB/s) around 10:30pm
 and had no problems up until 2:20am when I lost Internet connection again. Seemed exactly the same as earlier in that I couldn't load a webpage but the broadband light on my home hub was glowing blue.that only lasted for a few minutes and now everything is fine again.

    Firstly, try a hard reset. Hold the sleep/wake and home buttons together until the Apple logo appears.
    If this doesn't work, try restoring your device. Put it in recovery mode if iTunes doesn't recognise it, and restore it from there. I have linked to instructions below.

  • Folders seem to be limited to just one page

    I tried to move an app (call it #1) into a folder and it wouldn't move.  When I checked the folder had a full page of apps in it.  I removed one of them (call it #2) and then was able to move #1 into the folder.
    This seems like a fairly serious design flaw as it is going to force users to create multiple folders for similar apps ie. once you have 16 games in a "Games" folder you have to create a new "Games_2" folder.
    Am I missing something?

    You are not.  Folders are currently limited to one page.

    I've reproduced this issue from FF 3.6.13 on windows XP and mac osx 10.6.8.
    On FF 3.6.13 the number of pixels limit seems lower with exactly 8,388,607.

    The 12" PB internals are a bit more complex, for PB's. If you don't want to replace the hard drive yourself or pay someone to install it, you could always get an external firewire hard drive, and use it to boot from and for general usage. Would have to be firewire, since the PB won't book from a USB device.     Since you really did not say what you meant by "glitching" it could be a network or server problem. have you contacted the developer/went to their support site?

    There is .js file associated with every page you made in iWeb, that's where you add your javascript code.

    nope, iWeb makes flat site structure. You are on your own if you want tree structure.

    I have just done a custom run on my Ipod touch 2nd Gen of 12k.  When I finished the run is appearing in my run history on my iPod touch, however it is not appearing in my itunes 'Nike+' tab, or on the Nike + website.  I can't seem to get this run to sync and it is really annoying because I'll be loosing 12k.  Can anyone help or has experienced this before?  I know there are solutions to add runs to iPod nano's and older iPods using the 'Enable disk' and iPod_control function however from what I'm aware you cannot do this on an iPod touch.  Can anyone please help?

    You should really read the manual.

    They would only be where you put them.  What program did you use to import them?  Pics/vids taken with ipod are not part of the sync process at all.  You should be importing them just as you would with any digital camera.
    If you did not import them, then they are not on your computer.

    If you have not already reverted the look and feel to be like iTunes 10 then
    View > Show Sidebar
    View > Show Statusbar
    click on the black arrow in the search box and untick Search Entire Library
    Now you should be able to drag and drop onto your phone or use the sync pages

  • Images seem to lock in place while I did not fix the image on layout

    When finished updating our website www.spatia.nl, several objects seem to be locked in place on layout, while the checkbox for fixing the object is not checked.
    Even pages which haven't been update seem to have this similar problem with floating and locked objects.

    Could you please do a File>Preview page/site in Browser and check if it behaves the same there or is it working fine?
    Also try File>Export as HTML and check if it works fine with exported files or not.
    In case it is not working fine in preview as well and the "Pin" option is not checked for the content, please send your file to [email protected]
    If your file is greater than 20mb you can use something like Adobe SendNow or SendThisFile.
    Please do not forget to mention link to this forum in your e-mail so that we can identify the file.

    I was able to find these instructions, however they referr to 2009-2011 27" iMacs. I think it's the same, if it's not then contact Apple directly for instructions. If either of the machines is less than 90 days old or covered by AppleCare then call AppleCare tomorrow for help, they should be able to easily answer this for you. You will find the number in your manual or you can use the AppleCare Contact Info link.
    Your iMac should automatically recognize the presence of a digital video signal at the Mini DisplayPort and enter Target Display Mode.
    If your iMac does not automatically enter Target Display Mode, press command + F2 to manually enter Target Display Mode.

    You might want to download something called an undelete utility. These can find files and recover them even after they appear to have been lost. There are some undelete utility programs that are free. Look at tucows.com
    Also, it appears that you have POSSIBLY overwritten the actual files, which you moved manually, with I don't know what, which you moved in PSE's folder location view.
    Next, in the future ... NEVER (that's: don't even think about it) move your photos in Windows. NEVER. NEVER. Not ever. Not once. This always (that's ALWAYS, as in 100% of the time) causes problems and usually makes things difficult to fix.
    Lastly ... make regular backups! I must say this in the forums about seventy bazillion times a month. Make regular backups! Regular depends on how often you take photographs and edit them. Since my photographic activity usually happens on the weekends, I make backups every Sunday night. You may need a different schedule, depending on your activity level. MAKE REGULAR BACKUPS!

    I have just upgraded to Iphone 4S.  Very nice and as expected from Apple.
    One of the applications I am keen on is Siri, however when I tried to hold the home button, instead of getting Siri, like I thought I was, I got the old voice control screen.
    I know that Siri is in Beta, but does that mean it is not on Iphone 4S yet?

    I had same problem.
    go into settings and under General is an option for Siri, i had to turn it on.

    Backups of an iPhone made using iTunes are stored in a format that is only meant for use in a restore and are not meant to be accessed directly. There are other methods of transferring things like photos and contacts to your computer such as iOS: Import personal photos and videos from iOS devices to your computer, iCloud: My Photo Stream FAQ, and https://www.apple.com/icloud/
    If you absolutely must directly access an iTunes backup there is 3rd party extraction software available such as http://www.wideanglesoftware.com/ibackupextractor/
