  • ISE Failed to Create Network Device Error

I am trying to add new network device to a new out of the box ISE 3315 appliance under the Administration > Network Resources section.  I was able to do this the other day but now when I try I get an error that says "Failed to create network device.  System Error!
Any ideas?  I tried a reboot, and Iam pretty certain I was able to do this a few days ago.  Its a lab device so only I have touch it.  Only other thing I can think to add is that I am running on an eval license until my regular licenses arrive.  From what I see I have 81 days left on my base and advance package eval licenses.

Is there a certain amount of AAA client for that eval license?
    Thanks,
    Scott Fella

  • Server 2012 R2 - The system failed to register host (A or AAAA) resource records (RRs) for network adapter

We seem to be having an issue recently after introducing new Windows Server 2012 R2 servers where they fail to register DNS correctly. The Windows Firewall is off and the servers are on the same VLAN with no firewalls between them.
When I do an ipconfig /registerdns or wait 24 hours for the system to try we get the following error:
The system failed to register host (A or AAAA) resource records (RRs) for network adapter
    with settings:
               Adapter Name : {4A0ECF05-193F-4BEA-AA46-BEC593BA752B}
               Host Name : SRV-DATA
               Primary Domain Suffix : internal.local
               DNS server list :
    192.168.0.50, 192.168.0.42
Sent update to server : <?>
               IP Address(es) :
                 192.168.0.99
The reason the system could not register these RRs was because the DNS server contacted refused the update request. The reasons for this might be (a) you are not allowed to update the specified DNS domain name, or (b) because the DNS server authoritative
for this name does not support the DNS dynamic update protocol.
To register the DNS host (A or AAAA) resource records using the specific DNS domain name and IP addresses for this adapter, contact your DNS server or network systems administrator.
On our DNS server we have set for the internal.local zone Secure Updates only so that looks good because it is Active Directory that should be handling this authentication to update the record I assume. Just to mention that when also doing an ipconfig /regsiterdns
the update fails within a few seconds.

This issue is only affecting Windows Server 2012 R2 clients and testing with Windows Server 2008 R2 clients works no issues. So is this a mis-configuration or a bug with Windows 2012 R2? I have checked all DNS settings on client / server which all look good
to me so reaching out now to see if anyone has any ideas?
    Environment:
    - Windows Server 2012 R2 Domain Controllers (Forest/Domain Levels 2012 R2)

The PDC is the SOA for the zone
I dont have a packet capture from the DC, only the client.

  • Carrier cannot register my device on the network

    Hi,
I am new on the forum and was wondering if anyone could assist because my carrier cannot.
I had a BB 8900 Curve which i replaced yesterday with a Bold 9000 and now cannot register the device on the carrier network. Calls etc are fine, just BIS will not. My previous 8900 worked fine? I have been on the phone with the carrier the entire day and they have not been able to resolve it. All i did was change the device in the BIS website and now it is broken.
    Any ideas?

Hi and Welcome to the Forums!
The BIS account is controlled by the carrier. The BIS account is assigned to one PIN and only one PIN. The carrier must resolve shifting the BIS account from the old BB PIN to the new one.
In the meantime, try these steps:
    1) Register HRT
Homescreen > Options > Advanced Options > Host Routing Table > BBKey (it does not matter which line is current) > Register Now
    2) Resend Service Books
KB02830 Send the service books for the BlackBerry Internet Service
    3) Batt Pull Reboot
Anytime random strange behavior or sluggishness creeps in, the first thing to do is a battery pop reboot. With power ON, remove the back cover and pull out the battery. Wait about a minute then replace the battery and cover. Power up and wait patiently through the long reboot -- ~5 minutes. See if things have returned to good operation. Like all computing devices, BB's suffer from memory leaks and such...with a hard reboot being the best cure.
Hopefully that will get things going again for you!

There you go.  What's calling that?  That should resolve to /usr/bin/sbin.
What does `ls -l /sbin/dhclient-script` return?  Did you complete the recent filesystem upgrade without errors.
    [elias@ubercool ~]$ ls -l /sbin/dhclient-script
    -rwxr-xr-x 1 root root 12295 May 31 15:48 /sbin/dhclient-script
And yes i've successfully updated the filesystem with out any errors, oddly enough this script is sticking to the guns and satying in /sbin/ (thought all scripts and what not moved to /usr/{sbin, bin} but i guess not?)

Sorry about that, i knew there was a limit but there's so much rules to keep track of so i used "common sense" and i thought my image was at least not tremendously hughe.. but i guess that depends on what sort of connection and PC you got.

  • A connection to the deployment share could not be made - Networking device did not have a driver installed

I have a couple of HP 8200 desktops that I think might have bad nics. When I PXE boot them and start my LiteTouch, I get a Wizard error that says
A connection to the deployment share (\\mydpshare\share) could not be made. The following networking device did not have a driver installed
    PCI\VEN_8086&DEV_1502&SUBSYS_1496103C&REV_04
I have that driver in MDT and it works on other HP 8200s. Looking into the Wpeinit.log, it looks like the driver loads but maybe the nic is bad:
    Installing device root\kdnic X:\WINDOWS\INF\kdnic.inf succeeded
    Installing device pci\ven_8086&dev_1502  X:\WINDOWS\INF\net1ic64.inf succeeded
    Spent 16903ms installing network drivers
    QueryAdapterStatus:  no adapters found
Spent 0ms confirming network initialization; status 0x80004005
    WaitForNetworkToInitialize failed; ignoring error
    Has anyone seen this before?

    Hi,
According to your description, it should be Intel NIC driver problem. I have checked HP official website, there is new NIC driver released, please access to the link below to download the NIC driver for test:

  • DNS failing to register

    Background
all Server 2012 VMs...1 domain controller, multiple member servers.  I have only one member server that is having DNS issues.  The problem was first discovered while trying to gpupdate /force, which failed stating there's a lack of network connectivity
with the domain controller, event ID 1129.  I looked in the event logs further and there were event ID 8020 "the system failed to register host (A AAA) resource records for network adapter with settings....", there were also events where the
time service could not sync with the DC.
From there I dropped the server from the domain, and then rejoined it without issue.  It still was having the same errors.  I looked in the DNS Manager on the DC, and the record with that IP address had the wrong host name.  I deleted it,
and attempted to have the server register the record.  I followed ipconfig /flushdns, and ipconfig /registerdns. Still having the same issues.
It is part of the domain, trust relationships seem fine.  Any thoughts?  I can't find anything anywhere on that event ID.

Seems like too few info to decide what is your problem. My very first guess is that there is error in VM settings. Make sure that VMs has disabled time synchronization with host. Secon problem may stem from possible port blocking (try without fw) and third
problem in VM may be caused by wrongly setting IP DNS in NIC parameters.
Also start with dcdiag to find the health of AD. Do not remember to delete DNS cache whenever you do any chnages is DNS settings.

  • How to import network devices on ISE 1.2

    Hi, experts,
I'm trying to import network devices on ISE 1.2.0.899
so I downloaded the template and opened with notepad and wrote all the nessesarry information.
and I tried to upload to ISE, and it just said import failed. no reason..
does anyone know how to do it ?

    Hi jiyoung
This import failed error might occur due to following reasons so please make sure that :
You are not running two import jobs of the same resource type at the same time. For example, you cannot concurrently run two import jobs to import network devices from two different import files.
More over please make sure that while configuring the network devices you are performing job from a super admin or network device admin group.

  • OpenConnect VPN client suddenly failing -- Failed to open tun device

This started recently on my laptop, when trying to connect to my company's Cisco VPN it simply fails and doesn't provide much information:
    Jun 28 08:01:25 winter openconnect[17279]: POST https://vpn.company.net/

Jun 28 08:01:54 winter openconnect[17279]: Failed to open tun device: No such device
I've made sure that the kernel is configured to load the tun device:
    [root@localhost log]# zgrep CONFIG_TUN /proc/config.gz
    CONFIG_TUN=m
    [root@localhost log]#
And beyond this, I cannot seem to find any more information on what's going on. I know that the client is actually connecting, because we use a 2-step auth service that pushes requests to my phone, and I receive the request to authorize the login. It simply cannot start the tunnel. I've checked if the tun module is actually loaded, and it is not:
    [root@localhost log]# lsmod | grep -i tun
    [root@localhost log]#
But as I understand it, this shouldn't matter, correct? The module should get loaded as needed by userspace applcations? I *believe* this started after I had setup an OpenVPN connection to connect to a client's VPN, but I made sure to uninstall OpenVPN (as it's not required by openconnect) and the issue still continues. OpenConnect works totally fine and connects to my company's VPN without a problem, on my desktop running Arch.
If anyone can shine some light on this I would greatly appreciate it! Thanks!
EDIT: I found a solution, though maybe someone can shine some light on why this works (and what broke in the first place). I basically insmoded the actual .ko file of the tun module:
    [root@localhost net]# find /lib/modules/ -iname 'tun.ko.gz'
    /lib/modules/3.15.1-1-ARCH/kernel/drivers/net/tun.ko.gz
    [root@localhost net]# insmod /lib/modules/3.15.1-1-ARCH/kernel/drivers/net/tun.ko.gz
    [root@localhost net]# lsmod | grep tun
    tun 20931 0
    [root@localhost net]#
After doing this I can connect to the VPN without issue.

Did you upgrade to a newer kernel recently without a reboot afterwards? See https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=163377 for a (perhaps) related problem and solution.

How do I get rid of "Your connection failed because the communication device is unavailable." ?  Pops up 4 or 5 times every time I log on to my MBP.

    Hi there
Do you happen to use a USB modem or something like that? This could be the cause.
You could try creating a new network location to see if that fixes it (if not you can just reverse it)
    1. Go to  Menu -> System Preferences
    2. Then go to Network on the 3rd row
    3. Make sure the padlock is unlocked (bottom left) with your admin password
    4. Choose 'Automatic' next to 'Location' at the top.
    5. Choose 'Edit Locations'
    6. Then click the + button, and create a new one called home/test/somethingorother
    7. Click Done -> Save and wait a few seconds
    8. You may have to reconnect to your Wi Fi network etc.
If you have a USB modem, the above steps will most likely remove its config from the Network preferences. As I said, its reversable (just change location back to automatic)
    Have fun

    Hi,
    I'm getting mad! :(
I'm not able to register my e6500 (bought used) to get the software updates.
I digged in the forum, but w/o any result.

I've really no clue what the application means by "The Asset information is invalid".
I think it may be due to the fact that cpu #20 is not correctly detected:

  • AP's fail to register in a WLC

    Hello
We are having problems with one of the two controllers of a WISM. APs fail to register in the first controller, but they register fine in the second one.
Our network is comprised of 3 WiSM (6 Controllers) running version 6.0.196.0 and 100  LAP1140's
    WISM 1
    Controller 1 (Works OK) -
    Manager Interface       -  VLAN 70 - IP Address  10.200.100.21 /28
    AP Manager Interface -  VLAN 71  - IP Address 10.200.100.34 /29
    Controller 2 (Works OK) -
    Manager Interface       -  VLAN 70 - IP Address  10.200.100.22 /28
    AP Manager Interface -  VLAN 72  - IP Address 10.200.100.42 /29
    WISM 2
Controller 3 (DOES NOT WORK) -
    Manager Interface       -  VLAN 70 - IP Address  10.200.100.23 /28
    AP Manager Interface -  VLAN 73  - IP Address 10.200.100.50 /29
    Controller 4 (Works OK) -
    Manager Interface       -  VLAN 70 - IP Address  10.200.100.24 /28
    AP Manager Interface -  VLAN 74  - IP Address 10.200.100.58 /29
    WISM 3
    Controller 5 (Works OK) -
    Manager Interface       -  VLAN 70 - IP Address  10.200.100.25 /28
    AP Manager Interface -  VLAN 75  - IP Address 10.200.100.66 /29
    Controller 6 (Works OK) -
    Manager Interface       -  VLAN 70 - IP Address  10.200.100.26 /28
    AP Manager Interface -  VLAN 76  - IP Address 10.200.100.74 /29
APs register correctly in 5 controllers but fail to register to Controller 3
There isn't  any Firewalls between APs and Controllers and the six controllers are in the same Mobility Group. We use DHCP option 43.
Debugging commands in WLC 3 shows the following output:
    *Dec 10 15:08:23.016: 58:bc:27:bf:03:80 Join Priority Processing status = 0, Incoming Ap's Priority 1, MaxLrads = 150, joined Aps =0

    *Dec 10 15:08:23.017: 58:bc:27:bf:03:80 State machine handler: Failed to process  msg type = 1 state = 0 from 192.168.28.64:10256

I replaced one AP by a PC. It received correctly one IP Address by DHCP and I could ping to Controller 3 (Manager Interface  10.200.100.23 and AP Manager Interface 10.200.100.50)
    ¿Any idea?
    Thanks

    Hello,
leolaohoo, Scott, thank you for your answer.
We put all AP Manager IP addresses and Management IP addresses on the same subnet and all the controller works ok now.
    Thank you for your help.

  • Multiple Network Device Groups when importing to ISE using template

I have a question about importing a group of network devices into ISE using the template provided. The template only has a single column for Network Device Groups - is there a way to import devices and include more than one NDG? For instance, the NDG's we use are "Device Type" and "Location". I'd like to include both when doing my import and I've tried multiple ways to seperate the two strings within the column (comma's colons, semi-colons, spaces, pipes, tabs, etc), but i always get an error message that "NDG group does not exist". I also tried adding a new column into the template, but that just plain failed to import.
If there is any way to do this, I would appreciate any advice on how - I have to add about 40 devices per week to our ISE deployment and I'd rather not have to go in and add any parameters manually if it can be helped. Thanks very much!
    Ross
BTW, we are running ISE ver 1.1.2 in case it is relevant.

Yes, you can do it. You have to use the pipe "|" to separate the groups. But please notice you must create the network device groups in advance.
For example, I have the following groups in my csv file to import a lot of network devices
    Device Type#All Device Types#SWITCHES#375O-X|Location#All Locations#PERU#LIMA
But as a pre-requisite I have to create the network device groups.
If you have lots of network device groups, you can mass import them instead of creating them one by one.
    Please rate if it helps
