IWork '09 No More Save As?

Since installing Lion OS, in Pages & Numbers (iWork '09) there is no "Save As" option anymore?  I can work around this, but it wastes lots of time = wastes $$ in my business.  "Save a Version" isn't the answer, "Save as Template" isn't the answer >> does anybody know the answer?

Try this.

    Or am I blind?

Apparently it's one of the 'advances' in human interface studf.
Autosave is the default in Lion, hence the absence of a Save function after the initial doc creation and naming.
Apparenty some of the "old" Save As function's abilities are made available through the Export or Duplicate function in Lion.
    And then there's "versions"....
Personally, I like Save As, especially in a graphics app.

  • IWork & Safari: Can't save files: Don't have permission.

    Hello
I have a the problem that I can't save any iWork (Pages, Numbers, Keynote) or Safari document on my harddisk. This includes existing documents and new created one. After the save dialog I get the following error-message:
"The document “Untitled” could not be saved as “Untitled”. You don’t have permission.
To view or change permissions, select the item in the Finder and choose File > Get Info."
I even doesn't want to autosave documents anymore:
(But I can#t change the permissions on files, that haven't been created)
"The document “Untitled” could not be autosaved. You don’t have permission.
To view or change permissions, select the item in the Finder and choose File > Get Info. You can also duplicate the document or discard your changes to close it."
Other applications work fine, including Apple and none-Apple apps (I've worked with After Effects and Final Cut Pro X at the same time)
I checked the permissions on existing files: they are correct
I restarted my mac, logging out&in (with and without the "reopen after login"-checkbox).
I repaired the Disk Permissions in Disk Utilitly.
I removed iWork and reinstalled it (including updates).
    Nothing worked.
    I'm working on:
    Mac OS X 10.7.5
    MBP 15 2010 2.4 GHz i5 with 8GB memory

I had the exact same problem. Try logging out and then back in again. That fixed it for me.

  • IWork Pages crash on save

Hi, my Macbook Pro freezes whenever I try to save my pages document.
Or to be precise, it sort of manages to save it.. . but everything goes at glacier speed and I can't do anything for about half an hour or so.
However, if I "save as" a .doc file then it's ok.
Can someone help me? It's really annoying and I've lost quite a few documents.
    thanks..

    Dear Peter,
Thank you for your warm welcome.
+All Pages documents behave this way?+
Yes, as far as I know. New ones, old ones, old imported .doc files.
+Have you used a particular template? Have you tried creating a Pages document from a blank template, using standard fonts like Times, Arial, Helvetica, Lucida Sans…?+
Yes, I do use a particular template (one with a date field) but as per your suggestion, started testing different templates. It seems to be the same.
+Have you upgraded iWork '09 to the latest version? How did you upgrade to OSX 10.62? Did you use Software Update or the downloadable larger Combo updater? There is a problem with the Hoefler Text font in both earlier versions of 10.6 and the Software Update upgrade.+
I bought this laptop in October last year, and just installed iWorks. So I think it came with 10.6.2
if not, it must have been upgraded in a software upgrade.
As far as I know, iWork is up to date.
Any other suggestions? many thanks for your help so far...

  • No more  "Save Report"

    Good Morning All,
I am confusing “Save Report” in Actions Menu of Interactive report.
Save Report - Used to save the report settings for future use.
According the definition, I don’t want to include and I unchecked it. But I still see it.
When I click the “Save Report”, the following message appears:
“The current report settings will be used as the default for all users.”
How can I rid of the “Save Report” ?
    Thanks in advance,
    EB NY

    Hi,
I couldn't find the solution but then I read the previous post. What he said is correct but only occurs when either your application's Build Status is set to: Run Application Only
    or
You set Status to Available instead Available with Edit Links. By doing this instead of the previous you're still able to edit your application.
I'd suggest doing the latter but only so you can see that it does actually work as you intend. Then reset it to Available with Edit Links so that it is easier for you to update. Then once your application is finalised you set it to Run App Only and the effects will be visible to the users.
Both Status and Build Status can be found in your application defintion.

  • More Save as.... and Email... problems

We have been trying to figure out how to disable the "save a copy" and "email" functions when we publish our e-books. People keep talking on this forum about vouchers--I have no idea what that is and I don't think it applies to us. What's the magic option you check when packaging the e-book so that these functions are turned off?
If you can save a copy and email it out, what's the point of using this book reader?

I'm not sure I understand. Let me explain the situation and maybe you can help.
We are a digital children's library that publishes books for kids free on the web. Some of the publishers who have contributed books have asked that they be encrypted in Adobe. This is so that any print, save, or copy function would be eliminated. Since there are thousands of users from all over the world using our library, each one of them would have a different Passport ID. We don't want to restrict the number of people who can view our books. Since some of them might be viewing them from public machines (but using different Passport IDs), I suppose perhaps even using the "Limit book to one device per user" function wouldn't work for us. We wouldn't want to restrict the number of people per machine who could view a book.
I believe you're saying that it is completely impossible to disable the "save" and "email" functions. This is making us (and probably our contributors) very uncomfortable.
I apologize for the low-techiness of this email. I'm just a grad student in library school and really don't understand a lot of the tech stuff.
    Thanks,
    Laura

  • Can i use iWork's on more than 1 mac

I plan on Buying another mac computer can i use my already loaded i-work software on the second mac?

It depends on where it was purchased. If purchased on a DVD I believe that the license states that it can only be used on 1 computer (unless it was purchased as a family kit), if purchased on the App Store, it can be used on all your computers that are attached to your Apple ID.

  • IWork default save to MS Office

Is it possible to set up iWork 09 to default save to Word, Powerpoint and Excel? The save as function involves extra steps I don't want to mess with.

When you save through the menu there is a check box to save as MS PPT.

  • Hi I need a series number for iWork's.

    Hi
I need a series number for iworks I try to save and print things out but it says i must have this number and it says it will be send by e-mail.

iWork is a set of chargable softwares. If you have run out of the trail period, you should purchase a serial number. A good news is that you can now purchase it in the APP Store for Mac. It's much more convenient.
But before you do that, remember to delete the trail version on you computer first.
    Good luck!

  • When the new iWork version be available?

I have all my software up today with the exeption of iWork, mine is iWork '08. Have any sence buy '09 to access all the "new features" (iCloud, full screen mode, etc.) anyone knows if Apple plans to introduce something new (due the fact that the software is more than 4 years old) this year? I do not want to buy and old sodtware on a Office suite...

    Hi owlsdaughter,
    This makes me very nervous....
Do you mean the death of iWorks '08?
    Solution: buy iWorks '09.
Do you mean the death of iWorks '09?
Solution: Save backups of your business documents as plain text. They will survive the death of iWorks '09 and will be compatible with any new version. Also will be compatible with Word and Excel on a Mac or Windows. You will lose the formatting, but the data will survive.
Exporting to RTF or PDF will preserve the formatting if that is important.

  • Keynote (and other iWork apps) not saving properly!

    Hi all
I have had some strange problems over the last few weeks where I get messages telling me that iWork (usually Numbers) cannot save the files as 'something else' is using the file.  So I click 'save anyway' and I get strange files in folders, ie folder and file name is the original name plus some gooblygook.
I have got round this by deleting the 'extras' and carrying on.  But now I am preparing a major presentation in Keynote and suddenly it is not saving graphics some of the time!
For example I was working on a slide - and suddenly got a message that 'some problems occured' -
    Couldn’t save image. - image.png (Slides: 12, 13, 17, 18; Skipped slide count: 1)
    Couldn’t save image. - image.png (Slides: 12, 13, 17, 18; Skipped slide count: 1)
I have been working with this presentation for some time and have never encountered any problems - passing between my laptop and my iPad to review and modify (mainly viewing on the iPad and editing on the MacBook).
Any ideas what is happening?  I have a major presentation to give in just over a week and I don't want to use PowerPoint!
    Thanks
    Ian

I've been having some success NOT using any files that have previous images or audio in them, starting from a base template and then adding audio and video and photos that are already on my hard drive, not previous Keynote files. Today I needed five slides that were part of another deck and, you guessed it, they were corrupted (or missing) when I reopened the file, only the thumbnails remaining.
I closed the original Keynote file, placed a zip extension, then control- clicked to see the contents. The images were missing from the package. I then replaced the extension with .key and reopened in Keynote. The audio file had been there but not the images or the drawing, which I then searched for.
Yes, delete the weird file backups and make a backup of the original in the finder. Then lock it! (You're using Mountain Lion?)
I have a huge presentation tomorrow. I have five backups, including on a thumb drive.
    How much longer Apple?

  • Adobe Reader X save location issue

Hi All, i would like to seek expert helps on Adobe Reader save location issues. After we upgrade from Adobe Reader 9 to Adobe Reader X.
There are changes on how save location works in Adobe Reader X
If save PDF via Internet Explorer – the save location will according to last save location, HOWEVER
If save PDF via Adobe Reader X – the save location will set according to location the file is being open
Let me show you what i mean over the pictures
I open a reader_X_help.pdf using Adobe Reader X and then save the file using Ctrl+Shift+S at: C:\Users\xxxx\Documents\My last location save
    refer my last save location.jpg
Now i want to save another new file back to C:\Users\xxxx\Documents\My last location save, I open the file Adobe file2.pdf located at desktop and when i do Ctrl+Shift+S, the location point to my desktop and not C:\Users\xxxx\Documents\My last location save
refer my last save location change to desktop.jpg
I have tested this features in Adobe Reader 9 and it's different whereby it's will point according to my last location save.
There is no issue with computer as i have 3 machine running different enviroment, Windows XP SP3, Windows 7 Enterprise, and all using same version of Adobe Reader X version 10.0.1.
    So my questions & concern:
Is there any way to change the save location features same as Adobe Reader 9?
If YES, how to do it? By Computer Changes or Adobe Reader X packages modification using Adobe Customization tools?
If NO, Where can i find this source of documentation stated about this new changes so i can publish this information in HP website as new design changes to avoid complaint or negative feedback.
Looking forward for expert reply as soon.
Thank you very much and Have a great day.
    Best Regards

    Solved it!
    1-go to "edit", select Preferences.
2-select from the left pane: Security (enhanced)
3-click on "add folder path" button just below the big white box
4-pick a folder of your choice and click "ok". (your selected folder path will appear in that white box above the "add folder path" button in step 3)
5-if you want to add additional folders, just repeat steps 3 & 4
6-once you are done, click "ok" on the preferences screen and click "ok" again to accept the changes.
Yes, it seems illogical, but it worked.
I tested by closing the Reader (X), then surfed the web and did what Neher5 was explaining he/she wanted to do just after opening a pdf from a website and lo-and-behold,  it worked!. No more "save to temp folder" issues.
    Hope this helps.

  • IWork or Office for Mac which should i get for my mac pro for study and business. Partner has windows., iWork or Office for Mac which should i get for my mac pro for study and business. Partner has windows.

What operating System this things straight out of the box... Your talking to a tech tard

On your menu bar at the top of your screeen, click on the apple, then click about this mac. What does it say for version under Mac OS X?
I've been using the iWork Pages program more recently after upgrading to Lion 10.7, since my Office 2004 will no longer run under Lion (it does run under my Snow Leopard partition, if needed, though). I haven't found any limitations or issues, however I'm also a light user. You might scan the iWork discussions at https://discussions.apple.com/community/iwork to see what people have to say there.

  • Save As PDF saves a blank pdf file

    Hi,
The save as pdf function used to save the the main part of a web page.
After the current update now the files created still have several pages, but they are all blank. No text visible.
Is this a bug or is something wrong with my setup?
This is on a Droid X with 2.3.3 (Gingerbread), FireFox 27.0
I love this function. I hope it can be fixed.
I wish this function was in the Desktop Browser too.

    Hi,
I've tried it on a couple of sites, both didn't work.
I've tried opening the pdf with qPDF Viewer, and Kindle, and on my desktop with Foxit Phantom.
Perhaps I didn't make this clear. I'm using the Menu/More/Save as PDF browser function. The browser is creating the PDF, it's not downloading the PDF from the website.
I've reverted back to the 23.0 version and it's all good again.
So even if the PDF is being created via a cloud service the problem is in the FireFox app.
If you want I can setup or find a test case for you.
    Update.
I got a few samples for you.
Apparently it sometimes works and sometimes doesn't. This is with version 27.0. Version 23 always worked.
I supplied a screen-shot of https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/home and the resultant pdf; Products.pdf. Notice that is omits all styles.
Also, WordPress.com - Get a Free Blog Here.pdf is the home page of wordpress.com. Notice it's blank.
Also, The Mystic Sage Musings.pdf is missing styling. url: http://mystic-sage.com/blog/; also missing the heading picture, but it has the text.
However, the site I was originally having problems with; http://isiopolis.com/about/; comes out correct now. The pdf is: About Isiopolis _ Isiopolis.pdf
I tried to upload a zip files with the samples, but it won't let me.
You can get the zip file from here: http://gwsystemsdns.net/files/Samples.zip

  • Cannot save to SMB shares in Pages

This issue is actually occurring ONLY in the iWork applications, Pages, Keynote and Numbers.
User recently upgraded to Mavericks 10.9.1.  Has two SMB shares to smb://servername called "Public" and "Company Name".
The two locations are available in Finder as typical network shares in the left-hand pane.  You can navigate the Shares, open files, etc. without any issues.
However, if I create a new file in Pages and type some text into the new file and attempt to save it to "Public" or "Company Name", I'm presented with the following error:
"Untitled" couldn't be moved because you don't have permission to access "Public".  To view or change permissions, select the item in the Finder and choose File > Get Info.
When I do this, I see the information as "You have custom permissions" which typically indicates an NTFS or ACL related permissions that OSX can't quite read.
This same issue occurs whether i'm in Pages, Keynote or Numbers.
    Troubleshooting:
    1.  Checked and verified permissions were correct on Windows 2003 server hosting the SMB shares;
    2.  Created new file in TextEdit and attempted to save it to "Public" and "Company Name".  File save was successful.
    3.  Created new user on machine and logged in and performed steps above with Pages, Keynote and Numbers.  Ran into the exact same error.
    4.  Disconnected the shares and reconnected to the server using domain administrator account.  Same issues occur regardless ONLY in the iWorks applications.  Permissions are fine for navigating location, opening files and saving in any application outside of iWorks.
For now, I have the user performing the following steps:
    1. Create new document in Pages, Keynote or Numbers.  Edit the document.  Save it to the local drive in Documents\Need to Save
    2. Within Finder, user goes to Documents\Need to Save and drags the files that need to be on the network to the appropriate location, "Public" or "Company Name".
I'm almost thinking I need to remove and reinstall the iWork suite applications.  However, I don't want to perform that step without checking here.
Any thoughts or ideas are appreciated.  Thank you!

    Peter,
In working with the client, we did find that we could create new documents in the various iWork '09 applications and save them to the SMB shares without any issues.  However, since 5.0 Pages, for now, is installed, all applications have been created in 5.0.1, which is the current version on the App Store, and therefore, cannot be opened in Pages '09.  When we open Pages '09, we're prompted to upgrade to Pages 5.0.  Therefore, we look to still have the issue in saving to SMB shares through the iWorks applications regardless.  Especially since the client cannot access any of the current documents in iWorks '09 applications as they were created in the newer application.
Any assistance on this would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you!
    Jeff
