J2EE Add-in Installation
At installation time Add-in J2EE Instance for WAS 630/640 on AIX 5.2, oracle
We have next problem:
After installation step "SAP J2EE Engine Server Core" on
step "Start SAP J2EE Engine" installation breaking by next errors:
1) FSL-04001 Unable to fork process. Not enough space
in sapinst.log file and next message
2) command => Can't open shared memory administration (rc=3)
in jcmon.log file
Can you help to resolve this problem
Thanks all
Hi,
In AIX, you need to ensure that there is enough number of shared memory segments and paging space.
Login as root and check your configured space, using the command:
lsps -a
and to change use the command: chps
Please read the documentation carefully first:

We tried twice clean installation, after removing j2ee dir, SCS and

I have also confirmed the passwords in ABAP system/000 for SAPJSF, DDIC, J2EE_ADMIN, J2EE_GUEST.
We are getting the same error in both tries.
Kindly advice us to resolve the problem.
Thanks and Regards,
SrinivasAnanda,
you saved my day! I've been banging my head against the wall with this same problem during a J2EE add-in installation for SRM 4.0 on Windows, in preparation of an LAC 2.0 installation. I had tried deleting the schema first, but that didn't work. After I removed the sys\global\security folder as well, it worked perfectly.
Thank you. -
Can not install a Java add-in installation
Hello,
I have installed a ABAP NW 7.0 EHP1 system with BI_CONT 704. But our BW people asked if I could install a J2ee add-in installation onto the ABAP system.
I u201Cthe old daysu201D I just started sapinst on the installation master, and then choose Java Addin installation, but this option is not available any more.
I tried this on the installation master: SAP Netweaver 7.0 Including Enhancement Package 1 Support Release 1 -> SAP Application Server JAVA -> MS SQL Server -> Central System
But when sapinst gets to the step where it asks me for the SAP instance u201CSAP System IDu201D, then I enter the running ABAP system, but after that I get the error u201CSAP system BW3 is an ABAP or ABAP+Java system. Cannot convert this to a Java standalone system. u201D
This confuses me, since I am not trying to convert anything, I am just trying to install a J2ee addin installation.
Anyone who can help?
Thanks in advance.

Edited by: Kenneth Nielsen on Jan 27, 2010 8:33 AMHi,
Yes, as you discovered by yourself, the java add-in installation option was removed by SAP.
The java add-in was recommended a few years ago but due to all the problems it created it is now unsupported by recent installation sources.
From my personal experience, I agree that java add-in brings more problemas than advantages but if you really want to install one you will have to use older installation sources.

Installation WAS ABAP UC + WAS J2EE Add In..and XI
Hello everybody,
Could anyone help me with this issue ??
I am going to install WAS ABAP and WAS J2EE Add in and after that do the XI installation.
I am reading the installation guides and I have some doubts about "Hardware and SOft Requirements Section".
I am going to do a Central System Installation (WAS ABAP + WAS JAVA Add in)
I have read the two installation guides: WAS ABAP and WAS J2EE.
Somewhere I read that I have to add requeriments. For example, if I am going to install CI and DB on the same server, then I have to add RAM for CI and RAM for DB.
The question is:
In the installation guide for WAS ABAP, Database Requeriment Disk is 14 GB (Unicode)
And in the installation guide for WAS JAVA, Database Req. Disk is 14 Gb (Unicode)
Have I to add 14 + 14 ?? Or 14 Gb is OK for the database with the two schemas ??
Same is for Paging File ?? I am 64 bit server.
It is a Development System
Many, many thanks !!We have a ABAP/J2EE 6.20 system running with only 8GB ram total on the system and we do get some swapping but for a development I would say we see great performance.
XI I can'T say though... -
Separating ABAP and J2EE stack after an Add-in installation
Hi All,
While I need to migrate an Add-in installation (ABAP + J2EE) to a new machine, there is also a requirement to separate these stacks into two separate instances. Can you please suggest the approach for this? Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.
Regards.Hi Vincent,
if you want to have a two stack system you better install it that way, meaning two different installation for both.
Unfortunately then you might have some trouble with security after this I cannot foresee.

BI 7.0 Java Add-on installation hangs
Hi Guru's
While doing upgrade of BW 3.5 (Netweaver 2004) to BI 7.0 (Netweaver 2004s) during Java Add-on installation at "Database Instance Java Add-in" phase the installation hang on "Import Java dump" phase.
I have tried to kill and restart the installation 2-3 times and restarting the complete installation once again it stops at the same phase. Kindly let me know what can be the reason because we have not face this issue in DEV and QA environment. It is my production server.
The environment is HP-UX IA64 with oracle 10g.
Thanks in advance.Hi Rajesh,
What stage is the installation hanging at ?
Please provide any error info from sapinst_dev.log
Check if java engine is installed and is up and running or not.. You could check the j2ee work directory under which you find j2ee stack related traces.
e.g. check std_server0 to see if the server is up or not
Please send more details

J2ee Adapter engine installation error
Hi All,
I am installing XI with NW07. I had an ERP2005 server here with ABAP only. I installed Java Add In to it with usage type PI.
Now I tried to install J2ee adapter engine. It showed if i want to run a new installation or continue the old one.
I tried to install installation of J2ee adapter engine from a new directory.
It is stuck in between. I choose it as a MCOD to existing DB.
I can see a new instance for this in MMC and it is up and running.
But the old java instance is not running. None of the Proceses of Old Java instance (dispatcher, server0 and SDM) are not running. Did I do something wrong?

I ran the prerequisite checks before starting the installation.
It shows everything ok except it told me to have a environmental variable as CPIC_MAX_CONV with the value 200 at least. And I did that.
All the other checks were ok.
All are on SAME OS and same machine.
I have J2EE Adapter Engine installation guide, but there is nothing for this in that
In Instance properties file for the old instance it is showing the instance ID which it is not able to find.
In the configtool of both the instances, the instance ID is same under cluster_data and this is of the newer instance
How did the instance ID and data got replaced in the configtool of old instance. I mean the new instance has its new directory or folder.
What Could be the problem?
Did I do anything wrong here?
Kindly helpHi,

Java Add-In installation for Abap
Hello Friends,
I have installed NW2004s Abap stack for use BW features.
Now, I need to install Java Add-In (including EP and BI Java to use BEX and Integrated Planning) in this same installation.
In SAPINST (Additional Software Lifecycle -> Java Add-in for Abap), have 3 steps to install J2EE Add-in:
1 - Install SCS
2 - Install database Instance
3 - Install Central Instance
Is this correct? I really necessary to execute these steps? (for example, I have NW2004s database Abap running. Why I need to install database instance again?)
Anybody can help me in this procedure?
Thanks,
CarlosHi Everyone.
My scenario is similar with one important difference.
I upgraded from BW 3.5 to BI 7.0. However we never had a java stack on BW before and i did not install one during the upgrade. now the guys want a java stack.
I read the message about putting in a BI Java add in to existing ABAP system. however our hardware for the Abap system is not very good. is it then possible to put the Java add in on another machine ?
What steps are required. Specifically do i run sapinst on the new hardware and what options do i specify.
I have worked in Basis for a long time but am new to this Java stuff, so as much details as possible would help.

Can't start SAP after Java add-in installation
Hi,
We have migrated our BW 3.1C system to BI 7.0 (Win2003, Oracle 10.2, non-unicode). Everything was OK with the Abap system upgrade. We have made the first step, SCS instance installation and now the SAP BI 7.0 abap system doesn't startup.
The workprocess fail to connect to Oracle and don't startup:

Add-In Installation with another client than 001
We installed a BI 70 Abap system and then we installed the the Java ADD-in using another client than 001 (ie 100).
What we have to do to switch the UME to the client 100 client ?
We read note 917950 but is not more clear what we should do.Hi
I still got the problem.
Here is some more details
1. "Central Instance Java Add-in" installation.
2. The step is "ABAP UME" (Enter the J2EE engine user passwords). System ask user to enter password of administrator user, password of communication user, and password for SDM.
I enter a password like james123, it does not go to next screen. then I try to input other passwords, it does not go to next screen either. Does password cause the problem? What's the rule of password? And what's the return code 2 in below log file?
Here is the information which I can find out in file sapinst_dev.log.

SAP Secure Store error at Java add-in installation
During the Java add-in installation, at phase "Install Java Engine", I get the error "A key/value pair with this key already exists in the store".
How can I fix it?
[ECC6]Sorry for not making clear.
To uninstall java stack:
1. Drop the J2EE DB schema (the db schema for this one SAP SID). Be very
careful not to drop the DB schema for another existing system or the
ABAP system since it will destroy your data.
2. Remove DIR_GLOBAL/security/data
3. Remove DIR_INSTANCE/SDM
4. Remove DIR_INSTANCE/j2ee
5. Revert CI instance profile to their original state (backup copies
should exist in the profile directory)
6. Deinstall SCS using SAPinst
7. Restart ABAP
This should remove the java stack without affecting the ABAP system.
Then the correct order for installation will be:
1. Install Central Services Instance (SCS) Java Add-In
2. Install Database Instance Java Add-In
3. Install Central Instance Java Add-In

StefanHi Stefan,
This is one solution that i came across in an alternate thread,
"Not sure if this will help but..
All of my issues resolved around the Java engine (HEAP) not being able to reserve enough memory. Also, I found some of the default parameters in the config tool to be slightly incorrect.
So, I patched to the Java version C:\j2sdk1.4.2_08..I assume you have edited the profile parameter to include
jstartup/vm/home = <your jdsk> location
During the java install, failed at the IGS step (due to IGS running on the Abap stack), had to kill this process with
qprocess sapservice<SID> (look for the IGS processes)
sapntkill -INT pid pid pid (yes, I'm running Windows)
Then, the failure at the Java startup time. Numerous error messages like cj2-20057, or server0 would not start etc. I tried numerous attempts, eventually identifing that the Java parameters were not correct.
So...
Run the configtool.bat

Well, no other pre-reqs than normal - you'll need to get the guide for WAS640 J2EE only.
This is fairly stratght forward actually. I assume you have a production client set-up on this ECC box - like a client 100, 500, whatever,
Make sure your hardware can handle this - you'll need 1.5GB min of RAM (not SWAP) to enable a J2EE instance.
Other than that, grab your installation master CD, the J2EE compoents CDs, and start SAPINST. Select the option for a J2EE add-on instance.
That's it. It's quite simple really.

Failed on Java CI add-in installation with Java Admin Account Create
I've installed an ABAP stack and it works smoothly. Java Central Instance Service(add-in) and Java Database Instance(add-in) are both installed successfully. When I install Java Central Instance(Add-in), I get an error when system asks me to input passwords of Java admin accounts. I use same password for all sap account, eg. james123, but in this step, I input same password, the screen does not change to the next.
I paste error info below for reference.

JamesHi
I still got the problem.
Here is some more details
1. "Central Instance Java Add-in" installation.
2. The step is "ABAP UME" (Enter the J2EE engine user passwords). System ask user to enter password of administrator user, password of communication user, and password for SDM.
I enter a password like james123, it does not go to next screen. then I try to input other passwords, it does not go to next screen either. Does password cause the problem? What's the rule of password? And what's the return code 2 in below log file?
Here is the information which I can find out in file sapinst_dev.log.
