J2EE Does Not Start During JAVA Add-In Installation

I'm installing Java Add-In onto ERP 2004 (Windows 2000, Oracle 9.2, Java 2 SDK 1.4.2_08).
The J2EE does not start during the installation. It gives up after some time. java -version shows the correct path.
dev_jcontrol shows the following:

In that case, do u have multiple versions of JDKs installed ?
Maybe some earlier version is installed too ! In that case there is a program that comes along with the JDK to choose the version of the JDK that needs to be loaded into memory.
We faced this problem when we were doing our stints with JAVA Add-In wherein the system required the newest version of java where as some tool which was installed on the system required the older version.
So we used the java program to select the version to be loaded whenever the operating system tried loading the jdk.

But once the Java install completes the applet does not start automatically. The same code used to work nicely with Java 1.4. The applet used to automatically start and run once the JRE install completed. But with JRE 1.5 it does not start. If I do a refresh on the browser it again prompts for java installation. If open new browser window and go to the URL the applet starts. Please let me know how to get the applet to start automatically after JRE 1.5 installation.

We figured out the problem. the CLASSID was not the right one. Once we changed it...its working fine.

Application does not start during the engine restart.

Hello all,
after deploying a custom developed application to the engine the application works fine. However, when the J2EE is restarted the application page is not available with the following message:
Application error occurred during request processing. Details:Error
[javax.servlet.ServletException: Spo object was not created during the
startup], with root cause [com.appname.exception.SevereException:
Spo object was not created during the startup].
Exception id: [0013729689A200590000009D00000D90000446937D1802B7]
The application is shown running from visual administrator.
The application page is again available when we restart the application
manually from visual admin.
SO everytime we restart the engine we need to restart the application
too in order to get back the application page back.
There are many errors in the SPO log like the following:
ERROR [SAPEngine_Application_Thread[impl:3]_25] - Failed to set up connection pool: com.sap.engine.services.jndi.persistent.exceptions.NameNotFoundException: Path to object does not exist at java:comp, the whole lookup name is java:comp/env/jdbc/qaht6114.
Can anyone please advice us on what could be the problem here?

Has any of you used the startup mode setting? I tried using it and set it to always but the application still won't start. Is there anything I'm missing?

CSSD does not start during root.sh execution

I am using oracle10gR2 on solaris 9 sparc.
when i start root.sh script it stops at following point.

Can not install a Java add-in installation

Hello,
I have installed a ABAP NW 7.0 EHP1 system with BI_CONT 704. But our BW people asked if I could install a J2ee add-in installation onto the ABAP system.
I u201Cthe old daysu201D I just started sapinst on the installation master, and then choose Java Addin installation, but this option is not available any more.
I tried this on the installation master: SAP Netweaver 7.0 Including Enhancement Package 1 Support Release 1 -> SAP Application Server JAVA -> MS SQL Server -> Central System
But when sapinst gets to the step where it asks me for the SAP instance u201CSAP System IDu201D, then I enter the running ABAP system, but after that I get the error u201CSAP system BW3 is an ABAP or ABAP+Java system. Cannot convert this to a Java standalone system. u201D
This confuses me, since I am not trying to convert anything, I am just trying to install a J2ee addin installation.
Anyone who can help?

Hi,
Yes, as you discovered by yourself, the java add-in installation option was removed by SAP.
The java add-in was recommended a few years ago but due to all the problems it created it is now unsupported by recent installation sources.
From my personal experience, I agree that java add-in brings more problemas than advantages but if you really want to install one you will have to use older installation sources.

J2EE server does not start during installation

Hi,
I am installing WebAS JAVA 640 (NW04 SR1) on a Windows 2003/MSSQL server. I am using JAVA SDK 1.4.2_9. The installation stops at step 24/25 whereby the installer waits for the J2EE engine to start. After making 3 attempts to start the J2EE server, the installation process just hangs and I have to Cancel the installation.
BTW, I am specifying a heap size of 1024 MB and using the "Database Only" option as UME data store during installation.
Having checked the trace and log files, it seems the UME service fails to start, throws an exception and the message "the start of a core service failed, Web AS will not start".
According to the information available <a href="http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw2004s/helpdata/en/20/361941edd5ef23e10000000a155106/content.htm">here</a>, I have checked the settings and it seems that option 2, <b>"User or group data is missing"</b> is causing the problem since database content of UME is missing. I have tried selecting entries from table UME_STRINGS but this table is empty.
Now, the same link says that I should login to UME web application as SAP* but the problem is that without the J2EE engine starting up, I cannot login and create missing users/groups.
Any ideas???

Thanks to all who replied. I have actually tried all options suggested like waiting for retries until the box appears, trying to manually start the server, and reducing heap size. None worked for me. For your information, I have a 2.4 GHz machine with 4GB RAM so I think heap size should not be an issue. I checked SAP Note regarding heap size issues in Win 2003 but that does not seem to apply in my case since my system does not behave abnormally with JVM settings.

J2EE does not start anymore : shell service error

Our J2EE 640 SP16 doesn't come up anymore.
Into the std.dispatcher.out we see this :
"Service security started. (5 ms).
service shell ================= ERROR =================
Cannot start service telnet; it has hard reference to service shell which is not started.
Service jmx started. (765 ms).
Timed out services:
Service p4 > service p4 start method invoked.
Service tc.monitoring.logviewer > hard reference to service p4.
Service adminadapter > hard reference to service
The all the futher services are not started.
Into teh std.server.out we see al lot of services in timeout.
At the end both the Dispatcher o the serve doesn come up.
What's the reason ?

Rdisp/mssserv is not set in Java add in installation

I am in the process of trying to install the Java add-in to the already upgraded WAS ABAP server. After specifying the location of the profile directory, I continue to get an error message that reads, "Profile parameter rdisp/msserv_internal in not set for instance DVEBMGS00/DV1 on host xxx. I have ready note 821875 and the [parameter exist exactly like the note suggests and I have restarted the system numerous times and this error continues to exist. Has anyone else dealt with this issue before? I could use some assistance right about now. Thanks in advance.

Satellite A300-15A does not start up after Alcohol program installation

I bought Satellite A300-15A yesterday and after completing the Vista installation process, I tried to install "Alcohol" but my notebook shutdown and now I'm not able to start notebook.
It is not starting in any mode.
I forget to make recovery discs. I think Alcohol is not compatible with Vista. Error which i receive is below.

Sounds like a familiar problem to me, as I had the same one with the Daemon tools. After installing those tools I couldn't start my Windows XP any more. I guess it somehow mixed up some drivers or registry entries, but not sure about that.
Ok, you can try to deinstall the tool by first starting Vista in safe mode (press F8 before Windows boot up).
You should be then able to enter Vista without problem.

Dispatcher does not start during Refresh

We are currently able to restore & recover the Production backup on Quality System. We have tried to restart the database & application to continue with Post-refresh activities. I have the below output for memlimits -l

Maximum mapped file size (mmap)......: 7420 MB
    this value is probably limited by swap space
Maximum protectable size (mprotect)..: 7420 MB
    em/initial_size_MB > 7420 MB will not work
Maximum address space per process....: 15768 MB
Total available swap space...........: 10572 MB
    main memory size x 3 recommended , minimum 1 GB
Based on the input, we have tried changing the Extended memory settings for the server ( em/initial_size_MB = 7000 , ztta/roll_extension = 2147483648) This time the SAP application started, but did not last for long. The Dispatcher died soon with the below error:

Macbook does not start up from any Windows Installation Disc

Hi:
I just bought one brand new MacBook Pro in March and I decided to install Windows two days ago. I created a 32 GB partition using Boot Camp (I had no problem at this point). However, when I restarted the computer (after I inserted an original Windows XP SP2 disc) it got freezed, and a black screen with a blinking cursor on the upper-left corner appeared. I repeated the operation many times with my XP SP2 and another Vista SP1 CDs, always with the same result. After that, I tried to install both systems on 2007 iMac and I had no trouble.
Could you help me with this?

Hey guys,
I just recently ran into the same problem while trying to install Windows XP SP2 on my MBP. I tried a number of suggested solutions including:
1. Re-partitioning the HDD
2. Repairing the partitions using Disk Utility (requires OS X DVD boot for primary partition)
3. Copying my Windows to a new CD
4. Hitting the Option key during boot and selecting the Windows CD
None of the above worked. Here is how I finally got my Mac to boot from the Windows CD (this might not work for most or any of you - some of these problems are very case specific):
1. Start the Windows installation from the Boot Camp Assistant in OS X
2. When the computer restarts hold the Option key until you get the boot menu
3. You should see the original OS X option as well as the Windows CD
4. At this point pop out the Windows CD by hitting the eject key
5. Once the CD is out its icon disappears in the boot menu
6. Reinsert the CD and wait for it to spin up
7. Once the Windows CD icon re-appears as a choice select it and hit enter
However random this sequence of events might seem it actually worked for me. I hope it does for you too. Good luck!

Windows Web Server W2k8R2sp1 Problem
Eventlog service does not start
- Cause: Java Web Start does not start
-- Cause: Had a virus in "C:\Program Files (x86)\Java\jre1.6.0_03\bin\javaws.exe"
(AVG removed file. Re-installed java in: S:\Java\re1.8.0_31
In registry: file-paths seem to be okay (regedit find: javaws, Java Web Start)
Can't find a solution on-line.
What to do?
It is a dedicated production server managed by remote desktop (Leaseweb.com, ip: [37.48.64.130])
Any help will be highly appreciated.

The point is the event-viewer is not working. Because the eventlog-process is not running/starting. Because JavaWS-process isn't starting

ASMCA GUI does not start

asmca gui does not start with the fresh 11gr2 installation on AIX 6.1. The ASM instance is up. I don't see any error messages in the asm alert logs. The display is set correctly and xclock works.
Where else to check? I need to create the new disk group before i can create the database.
