  • Looking for J2ME audio or video player

    Hello all,
    I am looking for an audio or video Java player which can be used on Foundation of J2ME platform. It is better an open source Java player (but not a must requirement). I am wondering where can I find related sources?
    regards,
    George

  • Bitmap font on J2ME/MIDP devices

    Hi!
    I want to develop an application that can display my own langue on a mobile phone. I have known that there is a posibility to use a bitmap font(new_font.png) but I dont know how we can do with that.
    Does anyone know where can I find some documentation related to that? Or if you have some sample code that can solve my problem, that would be great.
    There is not yet unicode for my langue so it would be hard for me to do it this project.
    Best regards,

    I found an API on the web but don't remember which one - it is not free, though - but it uses the low-level API of MIDP to create those buttons and boxes.

  • Playback Video (format 3GPP) on j2me midp 2.0

    Hi all,
    By now all recent mobile phone should playback many video type included le format 3GP.
    But I can't playback any Video from J2me midp 2.0 API.
    Are there someone here who know a solution independent of device to playback video on j2me midp platform ?
    Thank you,
    Tien
    (www.tranthuong.com)

    Something like this:
    private void playFile( String filename ) {
      try
        InputStream is = getClass().getResourceAsStream(filename);
        m_player = Manager.createPlayer(is, "video/3gpp");
        m_player.prefetch();
        m_player.start();
      catch (Exception ex)
        System.out.println(ex.toString());
    } Also in MIDP 2 check VolumeControl
    If your mobile support JSR-135:
    try {
         Player p = Manager.createPlayer("http://abc.mpg");
         p.realize();
         VideoControl vc;
         if ((vc = (VideoControl)p.getControl("VideoControl")) != null)
             add((Component)vc.initDisplayMode(vc.USE_GUI_PRIMITIVE, null));
         p.start();
    } catch (MediaException pe) {
    } catch (IOException ioe) {
    }In this case you also can
    InputStream is = getClass().getResourceAsStream(filename);
    Player p = Manager.createPlayer(is, "video/3gpp");

    You can easily compare any Nokia devices using the web sites, here is a comparison of the N8 from the Nokia UK site:
    http://www.nokia.co.uk/gb-en/products/compare/?action=productcompareaction&site=64060&products=23301...
    And similar from Nokia Developer:

    Some information may be incomplete at present, since some device details were kept secret until the final moment of the launch so the pages have been prepared withoug all of the data.
    Nokia Maps is available for Windows Phone at launch.

  • How can i make RealPlayer the default video player?

    I use safari 3.0.4
    When it accesses sites containing video, it plays it in Flash (eg YouTube)
    How do I get safari to use realplayer instead? (Even my Firefox 2.0 uses flash) (I have RP 10)
    I am teaching a course in media literacy and show some of the uploaded old tv commercials to my students. i want to show next year's class some of the same commercials, so i want to save the ones I find this year while they're available.
    At school, I work on a pc, and it plays video back in RealPlayer which gives me a 'download' option, so i can save these commercials.
    But when i find good clips at home, on my mac, all I can do is note the urls, then do it all again at school to get to them to download. it would be much easier if i could download them as I find them, then take them to school on my portable drive.
    any solution?
    Thank you
    Elizabeth

    RealPlayer v. 11.0.0 (may still be in beta) now includes that Downloader - a very useful item!
    It is a free download but they will ask for money in July. Must be why they call it RealPlayer Plus!
    You can get it here:
    http://uk.real.com/player/mac/
    I have had it for a couple of weeks and have had no problems.
    As for making RealPlayer the default video player, IMO that is not a good idea. There is a lot of stuff out there that RealPlayer would not be able to handle.
    These are the downloads and the settings you need in order to view/hear pretty much everything that the net can throw at you: The setup described below has proved repeatedly successful on both PPC and Intel macs, but nothing in life carries a guarantee!
    It is known to work in the great majority of cases with Safari 3.0.4, QT 7.3 or 7.4 and OS 10.4.11. (If you are running Leopard, ensure that all plug-ins have been updated for OS 10.5.2, but please see my footnote).
    Assuming you already run Tiger versions OS 10.4.9 or above (this has not yet been verified with Leopard) and have Quicktime 7.2 or above, and are using Safari 2 or 3, download and install (or re-install even if you already had them) the latest versions, suitable for your flavor of Mac, of:
    RealPlayer 10 for Mac from http://forms.real.com/real/player/blackjack.html?platform2=Mac%20OS%20X&product= RealPlayer%2010&proc=g3&lang=&show_list=0&src=macjack
    The new RealPlayer Plus (v.11) is still in beta and therefore free, but works well on Tiger. It includes a download function, and you can get that here:
    http://uk.real.com/player/mac/
    Flip4Mac WMV Player from http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/wmcomponents.mspx (Windows Media Player for the Mac is no longer supported, even by Microsoft)
    Perian from http://perian.org/
    You should read this support page http://perian.org/#support in case you need to delete older codecs.
    Adobe FlashPlayer should first be uninstalled using the appropriate uninstaller available here: http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14157&sliceId=2 and then the latest version obtained from here: http://www.adobe.com/shockwave/download/download.cgi?P1ProdVersion=ShockwaveFlash and installed.
    (You can check here: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash/about/ to see which version you should install for your Mac and OS, but please see my footnote if you are running Leopard.)
    In earlier versions than QT 7.1.3 in Quicktime Preferences, under advanced, UNcheck Enable Flash, and under Mime settings/Miscellananeous only check Quicktime HTML (QHTM).
    You should also ensure, if you are running Tiger 10.4.11 or Leopard, that you have downloaded and installed the correct version for your Mac of Security Update 2007-009.1.1, which also deals with the Quicktime/Flash issues you may have experienced, such as the '?'. What happened was that both Quicktime as well as Adobe FlashPlayer tried to play the Flash video at the same time. This no longer happens. (N.B. Security Update 2007-009 1.1 requires both a restart and a permission repair.)
    If you get problems with viewing video on a website try moving this file to your Desktop:
    Hard drive/Library/Internet Plug-Ins/QuickTime Plugin.webplugin
    and then restarting Safari. If all now works, you can trash that file.
    In Macintosh HD/Library/Quicktime/ delete any files relating to DivX (Perian already has them). However it should be noted that Perian is not an internet plugin and will not play DivX files imbedded on a website. For that you will need the DivX Player browser plugin available from http://www.divx.com/divx/mac/
    Now go to Safari Preferences/Security, and tick the boxes under Web Content (all 4 of them) to enable Java.
    Lastly open Audio Midi Setup (which you will find in the Utilities Folder of your Applications Folder) and click on Audio Devices. Make sure that both Audio Input and Audio Output, under Format, are set to 44100 Hz, and that you have selected 'Built in Audio'.
    Important: Now repair permissions and restart.
    You should also consider having the free VLC Player from http://www.videolan.org/ in your armory, as this plays almost anything that DVD Player might not.
    FOOTNOTE
    If you are running Leopard:
    Some users have mentioned that the latest Flash Player (v.9.0.115.0) conflicts with Leopard, and that they have needed to revert to v. 9.0.47. This can be downloaded from here:
    http://kb.adobe.com/selfservice/viewContent.do?externalId=tn_14266&sliceId=1

  • Video player for N79

    Hi All,
    I am having N79, in this only .flv, .wmv, .3gp and .mp4 video files can be played.
    I cannot play .avi, mpg and .dat files using it.
    Can anyone suggest me a good video player I can download for N79 and where I can do that for free ;-)  ?
    Thanks
    Suren

    I am planned to research on the video player for Motorola L7. I am a Dot Net Developer.and have some knowledge in J2ME. Can u help me how the mobile applications can be created for Motorlola L7? Or what r the peculiarities of Moto L7 to take care while creating mobile applications?

  • Want to select which video player to use. FF22 mobile has no "options" in the tools

    only get default video. Neither settings nor tools in ff has an option to change this. app manager says ff is using the default. I have Dice video player, MX video player, and android stock video player but I'm constrained to using ff's default.
    I'm using a Samsung galaxy note 10.1 with 4.1.2 jelly bean and ff 22.
    i don't care for flash but just FYI the site you provide for Adobe to download an older version of flash does not work for this mobile device.
    thanks for any help you can offer.

    You can download and save the video by long tapping on the playing video to open it in a 3rd party player.
    We are not going to embed 3rd party video players inside Firefox. That would be plugin behavior (like Flash) the web is moving away from that sort of behavior.

  • J2ME, MIDP,CLDC, ...

    Hi all,
    i'm new to this "micro Java tech" and i would like to have clear some general concepts ;-)
    right now i've got an application written in "waba" for running it in a Palm device, i just needed waba VM, waba classes and some applications for creating the prc files.
    Now i would like to "translate" and walk into the sun philosophy...
    i've been reading around and i've found KVM what is quite clear, and then J2ME, MIDP and CLDC... do i need all this for writting my java application and running it in a Palm device?
    Which is the minimal set for doing it?
    Which API is the correct one for what i want CLDC API or Java2ME API?
    my messy brains would thank any help....
    thanks,
    Laura.

    hi, if you want to develop and run your apps on Palm devices, I think what you need are J2ME Wireless ToolKit and MIDP for Palm from Sun Microsystems. These tools can help you.

  • Want to install video player

    hi
    i hav n76
    iwant to install video player tha support diffrent formats nd flashplayer also.
    plz tell the link
    thanks

    Just keep in mind that N76 is not the best device for Video Playback and as such some high quality videos may not work.
    There's no Flash player that will handle YouTube videos as such.
    You can try
    m.youtube.com
    on your device but since N76 doesn't have WiFi you can rack up a big bill on the network data! so be warned if you don't have all you can eat data rates.
    tinitube.net also should work.
    640K Should be enough for everybody

  • J2ME/MIDP GUI development issues

    Hello,
    I'm newbie to J2ME/MIDP development .
    And I'm curoius about main GUI issues when developing games for mobile phones.
    Such as different screen sizes, sprites, etc.
    How ppl target for different screen sizes and resolution?
    Links for usefull reading is appriciated very much.
    Thank you.
    Alexei.

    There are two configuration
    1.CDC
    2.CLDC
    and Following profiles for the developers to choose from while developing the application for a wireless deveice
    for CLDC-
    1.MIDP
    2.PDAP
    for CDC-
    1.Foundation Profile
    2.Personal basis Profile
    3.Personal Profile
    Apart from these profiles (JAVA APIs) development can be done in
    1.c/c++
    2.net
    Now my questions or rather the issues that i always face or rather i always get confused over it
    1.How to know that a particular device supports which Configuration
    Check the device Specifications, Nokia supports maybe java, while motorola supports may be .NET
    2.After the configuration is known, which profile is to be used.
    Depends on what you want to develop, once you know that then you will read the profile spec. and then go for development, let say if you wanted to develop a simple game, it can be done in MIDP only, while if you need advanced multimedia, u need implementation of MMAPI also, on the other hand if you want to develop diary of contact managment software you will yous PIM.You should know the wanter in pool before taking of your clothes and going for a swim.
    3.For developing the application in c++, do different device category give different set of APIs for development.,plz explain.
    Most of the C++ api's are devices specific(after all that is when java wins)
    4.What about the development platform for PALM and POCKET PC devices.what profiles from the above listing do they use .
    they use the CDC configuration, and Personal Profile
    5.can development on POCKET PC be done only on compact .net framework???
    No, Commercial JVM are available, infact a free one is also available, search this forum you will find out.
    Hope this help

  • E2500 - Not connecting to the video player.

    Got it home and tried to connect it to my streaming video player in the next room and it would not connect at all. I took it back and bought a different brand and it connected immediately and stayed connected for 6 hours of streaming video with zero drop outs. It stays connected and my streaming video player does not have to search for the router each time I want to use it.
    What's great about it: nothing
    What's not so great: poor connection
    This product has...
    Unreliable connection
    Dual band
    Short range
    slow connection
    About me...
    Heavy media streamer
    Technology guru
    No, I would not recommend this to a friend.
    I use it in...:Small home

    There might be some settings required in the router so that it gets the proper solution. If you are facing the concern of getting lag, dropped connections then you can try the following steps:
    A] With the help of Cisco Connect Software (if at all you have installed the router with the help of this software)
    1] Open the software and go to the option which says "Router Settings"
    2] Then click on the option which says "Advanced Settings" which will take you to the router's configuration page.
    3] Then go to the Wireless tab, keep network mode as mixed,
    For Channel Settings of 2.4 GHz you can make Channel Width to 20 MHz only and Channel to 6, 9, 11..
    For Channel Settings of 5 GHz you can make Channel Width to 20 MHz only and Channel to 40 or 161...
    B] If you haven't installed Cisco Connect then you can log on to the router's user interface using it's default IP address in the browser which is 192.168.1.1 and type in 'admin' as the password leaving the username field blank. This will take you to the router's web interface and then follow steps as mentioned above to make the changes.
    Secondly avoid using any other wireless devices like cordless phones, microwave oven etc nearer to the router. Update the drivers for the wireless card of the wireless computer. Then check the wireless connection status.
