Jar file referring to classes in another jar file

I want to deploy my application as a WAR file. Let's say deploying it as an EAR is not an option. I have utility1.jar in WEB-INF/lib that needs classes in other utility2.jar (which is also in WEB-INF/lib) at runtime. Do I need to classpath entry in utility1.jar manifest pointing to utility2.jar? Your help is appreciated.

When a *".war"* is loaded by the server as that application_name* , it unloads the .jar files into "classes" directory with accordence the structure of the folders/package-hierarchy implicitly.

  • ANT: Include classes from another jar

    Hi all.
    Can I add classes from another jar to be added into my jar-file?
    Other words, may I write something like this:
    <target name="jar" depends="compile">
    <jar destfile="deploy/my.jar"
    basedir="${compile.dir}"
    includes="another.jar" >
    </jar>
    </target>
    in my build.xml?
    Thanx a lot for Your tips.
    Regards, Volodymyr Shram.

    I've found some resolve:
    <target name="jar" depends="compile">
    <unjar src="another.jar" dest="another_dir"/>
    <jar jarfile="deploy/my.jar">
    <fileset dir="${compile.outdir}" includes="**" />
    <fileset dir="another_dir" includes="**" />
    </jar>
    </target>
    But is it only way? Can I add classes from another.jar to my.jar without extracting?
    Regards, Volodymyr Shram.

  • Loading classes from another jar file

    I've set up my jnpl file so that it references a core jar file (contains main() function). The jnlp also references another jar file (app.jar) which contains class files that I load and instantiate dynamically (using ClassLoader). The core.jar file contains a manifest that includes a reference to app.jar.
    The app works fine when I use "java -jar core.jar" from the command line.
    However, when I wrap the jars using jnlp, I always get a null pointer exception because it cannot find any class that is in the app.jar file. I've tried different strategies, such as trying to load a class file that sits on the server (in a jar file and not in a jar file), but that also fails if I use jnlp (However, it works if I use "java -jar core.jar")
    Any ideas what is going on?

    This is the "OckCore.jar" manifest before signing:

  • Using classes from another jar?

    Hello,
    Could anybody show me an example for how to put a shared library of classes in one jar file, and put an applet in another jar while the applet can use classes in the first jar file? Is this even possible at all???
    Thanks!

    norsez, did you had a look at the Java Tutorial:
    Using the APPLET Tag
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/applet/appletsonly/html.html
    It says: 'You specify JAR files using the ARCHIVE attribute of the <APPLET> tag. You can specify multiple archive files by separating them with commas [...]'. I assume all listed JAR files are in the classpath then and you should have access to their classes.
    Let us know if it works!

  • Multiple HTML-files in one stack / link another HTML-file in a stack

    Hi,
    I want to integrate a webapp (html/js) into a stack of a dps-folio. All the HTML works fine ... all no problem, but at clicking the first link on the initial HTML-document the next (local) HTML-File is opened in a slider with a "ready"/"Fertig"-bar at the top. But I want, that all html files are seamlessly loaded in the same view.
    At this point i found: http://help.adobe.com/en_US/digitalpubsuite/using/WS67cb9e293e2f1f60-8ad81e812b10bfd837-80 00.html and i made the file "NativeOverlays.config" and moved it to the described location. After that, the behaviour was correct in the desktop-preview-app of the DPS, but it still fails on the iPad-Adobe-Viewer.
    How can i link between HTML-files without any interuption or sliding?
    Thank you!

    Hi Tim,
    Thanks for replying. I have looked for "PDFBookBinder class" in xml publisher user guide for ver 5.6.2. I didn't get any reference of this text. Can you please guide me to a tutorial/link where i can get more information about this class.
    Also, i originally thought of similar to your second logic, as my design basis. Oracle process generates the xml file in output directory which i can get. What i didn't get is how do i "pick them up and merge" using publisher. Also, is there way to do this merging process using pl/sql ? Can you please give little more information on your second approach.
    My original plan of action is that i will create a report set in which i will call oracle seeded report for all 7 payrolls in a sequential manner. Then using the child requests of the report set i will get to 7 xml files generated by seeded oracle process. Then the piece i am not sure of , i will use those 7 files to generate a single xml file having payroll name as tree top for each output. Once single xml is ready, i can easily design a template and register the process to generate output as Excel.This process will not require me to actually change any data or do any calculation. It will only reformatting the feilds we see and abiity to see all 7 payroll at one time rather then entering these numbers manually into an excel to do analysis.
    Please provide your feedback, if you think above plan is not feasible or need corrections.
    Best Regards,
    Ankur

  • Using XML for Live Data- How do you get the XML file to pull data from another xls file?

    Post Author: joseph_atkinson
    CA Forum: Xcelsius and Live Office
    I was wondering you can help me.
    I am currently receiving an *.xls reports on a daily basis (same report, same format, different data). I have put this report into Crystal Xcelcius Designer 4.5 Professional version and created the dashboard I want.
    I am aware of the xml mapping functionality where I can map from the *.swf straight to a database. However, is it possible to map to an xls file that will change on a daily basis? (obviously I can you the refresh button in Designer, but I need to automate this process).
    Your help really would be appreciated.

  • Accessing classes in external jar files

    I have a jar file called main. I want it to be able to acces the classes in another jar file say test.jar how do i do this.
    Thank you

    ok, if i have this right...
    you have 2 directories that hold 2 .jars, right?
    plugins/ -------- build/plugins .jar
    systemModuals/ ------- DiaryUI and Loader .jar
    Your main JAR is diary?
    Diary.jar
    you want Diary to run with the jars inside plugins and systemmoduals?
    you set the "class-path:" tag like this....
    write this manifest file. save it as Manifest.txt and put it in your home dir.
    Main-Class: YourMainClass
    Class-Path: Diary.jar plugins/this.jar systemmoduals/diaryui.jar
    <make sure to hit enter, go to the next line>
    command line to your parent directory.
    jar cmf Manifest.txt Diary.jar build/main/*.class
    you should be set to go.
    use
    jar xf META-INF/MANIFEST.MF
    to read the present manifest that netbeans has created
    if necessary

  • Weird classpath issue in EAR.Some classes can access jars that others cant!

    Hi,
    I'm experiencing a very frustrating problem that's proving to be a bit of a show stopper for me. I would really appreciate some help...
    I have an EAR deployed successfully on Sun Appserver 8 which passes the tests from the sun EAR verifier tool. The ear contains a jar file that I built which has a stateless session bean, home, remote interfaces and rmi stubs, deployment descriptors, as well as some utility classes. The EAR also contains some third-party jars such as Hibernate, Log4-j, apache-commons etc etc. The jar I built has in it's manifest file, the classpath information to reference the other jars in the ear.
    The problem I am having is that one of the classes in a third-party jar (hibernate3.jar) cannot see a class in another of the third party jars (log4j-1.2.8.jar) and as a result is throwing a NoClassDefFoundError for org/apache/log4j/Layout while trying to initialise - the two jars are at the root of the EAR.
    Furthermore, my utility classes can access and use Log4j classes without any problem and logging command from those classes is output successfully to the server console. However, my session bean, which is packaged in the same jar as the utility classes, fails to log anything even though it uses exactly the same logger and log configuration as the utility classses.
    I have tried adding classpath information to the manifest of the EAR so that the third-party jars can pick it up but this makes no difference. Also, according to the EAR verifier tool, you are not allowed to put any classpath information in the EAR manifest.
    I have also tried deploying this in weblogic but am experiencing the same problem.
    If anyone can offer any advice or solutions I would greatly appreciate it.
    :)

    what´s type error have you?
    perhaps external libraries (located in classpath) invoke opsCommon.jar and config-3.0.jar classes. then, classnotfound is normal.
    and... why separate external libraries (opsCommon.jar and config-3.0.jar inside ear, and other in classpath)?

    Error Message : ClassCastExcption : jartest1 cannot be cast to ThingPresumably we can only hope that that is a transciption error. It always helps to use copy and past actual errors and code rather than manually typing them.
    test.jar contains jartest.class and Thing.classWrong.
    The interface class and plugable class must not be in the same jar.
    A plugable interface requires two components
    - Interface (generic sense)
    - Functional components.
    The Interface must be independant (own jar) so that it is available to the framework (user of plugin) and to the functional components. And the plugable component must not be on the java class path.
    This also means that we know for certain that the plugable component is also on the system class path. That is a bad idea as well.
    Given that it is pretty pointless to even speculate as to why this error is showing up. Create the correct jar layout. Test using the command line. Then test using servlets. Insure that the plugable jar is NOT on the java classpath for both tests.

  • Classes in added jar on classpath not found

    Hi there,
    The javafx compiler seems to have trouble finding classes from a jar that was added to the lib directory of a javafx project. I experience this trouble when working with the Netbeans 6.5.1 IDE and javafx version 1.2.
    When trying to import a single class in a javafx file from a manually added jar, a compiler error occurs stating that the class cannot be found. Package names, however, do get recognized when importing classes, and therefore star import are possible. The actual classes from a package that was imported by means of a star import, don't get recognized.
    Does anyone have an idea what causes this problem and how to resolve it?
    Kind regards and thanks in advance,
    Rienk

    Can I refer classes in embedded jar's? I thought that did not work. It wasn't working so I tried putting the same jars into the same directory as the main class.
    Let me try again with less information.
    My jar with the main class is: testpojo.jar
    The class path inside the manifest is
    Class-Path: swing-layout-1.0.03.jar AbsoluteLayout.jar
    The directory with the external jar is:
    Directory of C:\DOCUME~1\MDARR\WORKSP~1\TESTPO~1\TARGET
    9/11/2008 10:44 PM <DIR> .
    9/11/2008 10:44 PM <DIR> ..
    9/11/2008 10:44 PM 2,850 AbsoluteLayout.jar
    9/11/2008 10:44 PM 118,103 swing-layout-1.0.3.jar
    9/11/2008 10:56 PM 51,660 testpojo.jar
    Unless I've missed something the the swing-layout-1.0.3.jar jar file is in the same relative directory as testpojo.jar.
    When I execute the main class should be able to reference classes in that file.
    But it gets,
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: org/jdesktop/layout/GroupLayout$Group
    What's happening? It's a little confusing because the same jar is also stored inside testpojo.jar. I read that Java can't load from embedded jar's so I tried putting them in the same directory as testpojo.jar and setting the class path inside the manifest.
    And yes, I understand about the main class name. That was just me goofing around trying to label things. At this I'm a rookie.

    Any help is definitely appreciated.You just still haven't provided the jar in the classpath, or you're not using the right class name. Is the class really named thinlet.Thinlet? Or are you thinking "import thinlet.*" means to import all classes in a jar named thinlet.jar? Because the latter is not true. You need to import classes, not jar file names.

        </jar>
      </target>
    </project>

    nevermind I got that fixed now:
    had to get the build.xml code for the <target name="jar" depends="compile">so that it looks more like:
      <target name="jar" depends="compile">
        <jar jarfile="${jar.dir}/FTPGetter.jar">
          <zipfileset dir="classes" prefix="" />
          <zipfileset src="include/ftpClient.jar" />
          <zipfileset dir="${include.dir}" includes="info.xml" />
          <manifest>
            <attribute name="Main-Class" value="com.abc.ftpgetter.FTPGetter" />
          </manifest>
        </jar>
      </target>Keyword would need to be zipfileset.
