• XML Publisher to Excel Report : Date format problem

Hi,
I am trying to create an Excel report with XML Publisher. I have an issue with the Date Fomatting.
In the XML template, I have set the "Date" column in date format. But the excel output report "Date" column returns as "General text" (string) and it is sorted as text, not as date.
Can anyone please help me out?
Thanks!!!

Hi,
Did this post solve your problem? I have the same issue that I need to solve.
I have an xsl-fo template with dates in it.
The dates are in english.
My excel is setup to use danish.
When I export to excel it knows the month jan, feb, mar, apr, ... which are the same in danish and english.
But months where it differs like may (danish maj) the cell is a general text instead of date.
Is there anyway you can set/transform the date in the xsl-fo template so it does not care about the language in excel?
Thank you in advance.

• Report painter formatting problem

Hi
I was working on a report in GR32 and seems screwed up.Now the report's decimal is not coming up.When I goto formating and select the decimal option , decimal comes up but spacing between columns get affected.Can anybody tells me how to fix the formating issue of columns. I mean adding decimal,comma and space between columns ?
Thanks
Satya

i am explainig for report painter reports ( similar way must be there for report writer)
go to grr2
you will see on top of the columns 'format group : 0' written.
when you go to formatting -> columns you will seee a format group on the top and below you will see the width , decimal places etc.
say you want to have column a very wide and column B needs to be filled with only one or 2 numbers then on top of column A you can the format group to 0. Then click on formatting-> columns and make the widht eg 20.
for column B on top of the column change the format group to 1. Then go to formatting -> columns then select the format group as 1 and then make the width to 2.
This way you can have different widths, decimals etc for differenet columns
Assign points if helfpfull,

• Reports layout/format problem when called from forms

hi,
using forms and reports builder 10g OS winxp
i have created web and paper layout report with pre-defined template gray (rdf). when i run the web layout there is no problem.
when i call this report from form using
web.show_document('http://machine:8889/reports/rwservlet?report=mail_report.rdf&destype=cache&desformat=HTML&userid=abc/xyz@dbname&para1='||:parameter1, '_blank');
the layout (cell bgcolors of the table) does not appear.
pl guide what am i missing out.
thanks

Hi,
that has nothing to do with forms. Your call inside web.show_document is a servlet-call. With this you get the paper layout of a report. If you want to get the web-layout, you have to call the report with a jsp-call. In your case that might look like http://machine:8889/reports/mail_report.jsp?userid=.....
If you store your report as jsp-file, you can use it for paper & web-layout, as rdf only paper-layout is possible.

• Foreign Font formatting problem

I'm using Pages 1.0
When I use a foreign font in my document many of the punctuation keys on the keyboard are used for letters in this language, and it appears that Pages recognizes them still as punctuation and does automatic formatting accordingly. For example, the hyphen key and semicolon key are letters in the language I'm using but Pages keeps putting line breaks and hypens there, thus messing up my document with automatic formatting. I know how to turn off the hypens, but is there a way to turn off all automatic formatting?
Thanks for any help.

However, I
don't quite understand the difference between
keyboard layouts and various language fonts. When I
activate the mongolian keyboard layout, no matter
which font I choose, it basically looks the same.
How do you get Mongolian fonts to work with the
mongolian keyboard layout.
Any Mongolian fonts you have from the past that are coded to replace Latin and thus work with the US layout will not work with the keyboard you downloaded, which works only with Unicode fonts (the basis for OS X operations in general). So if you want different fonts than Lucida Grande, you will need to download some of those mentioned, or if you have Office2004 installed I think these should work: Arial, Monaco, Times, and Times New Roman. You can tell which fonts on your system have the right characters by using Character Palette (Edit > Special Characters) and checking the font variation pane for 04af and 04e9. A better list of fonts is at:

• Problem while incrementing a variable in Jasper Reports

Hi
I am using Jasper Reports for designing reports. These reports will be used by my Java application.
But there is problem while I am trying to increment a variable depending on some condition.
Requirement: I have to display information about all the residents in a hospital in a single report. Resident information will be fetched from the XML file. When a resident ID is found in the XML, then the variable(resno) shoud be incremented. I have set the initial value to 1.
Problem: Only for the first resident, resno is showing as 1. For all the remaining residents, its showing as 0 (zero).The variable 'resno' is not incrementing for each resident.
Even the ResidentID is not null. All the ResidentID's exists in the XML file.
Please find the code below.
<variable name="resno" class="java.lang.Integer" incrementType="Group" incrementGroup="residentbrk" calculation="Count">
<initialValueExpression>new Integer(1)</initialValueExpression>
</variable>
<group name="residentbrk" isStartNewPage="true">
<groupExpression>$F{ResidentID}</groupExpression>
<groupHeader>
<band height="16">
<textField hyperlinkType="None">
<reportElement positionType="Float" x="0" y="-1" width="96" height="17"/>
<textElement>

</textElement>
<textFieldExpression class="java.lang.String">$R{residentno}</textFieldExpression>
</textField>

<textFieldExpression class="java.lang.Integer">$V{resno}</textFieldExpression>
</textField>
</band>
</groupHeader>
</group>
Could you please provide a solution for this.

Not clear at all. May be like this
declare
v_temp varchar2(100);
v_final number;
begin
--loop
v_temp:='sun';
v_temp:=translate(lower(v_temp), '1abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz', '1');
dbms_output.put_line('Temp:'||v_temp);
v_temp := v_temp || 'Mon5.1';
v_temp:=translate(lower(v_temp), '1abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz', '1');
dbms_output.put_line('Temp:'||v_temp);
v_temp:= v_temp || 'Tue';
v_temp:=translate(lower(v_temp), '1abcdefghijklmnopqrstuvwxyz', '1');
dbms_output.put_line('Temp:'||v_temp);
v_final:=to_number(v_temp);
dbms_output.put_line('v_final'||v_final);

Alright there is a dedicated ImageServlet(provided in jasper reporting framework) which is used to Link Static image content along with your HTML report content.
and here is how you have to do it is ??
is by setting few parameters for JRExporter Object and making use of image servlet provided under jasper libraries.
ImageServlet configurations in web.xml:
<servlet>
<servlet-name>ImageServlet</servlet-name>
<servlet-class>
net.sf.jasperreports.j2ee.servlets.ImageServlet
</servlet-class>
</servlet>
<servlet-mapping>
<servlet-name>ImageServlet</servlet-name>
<url-pattern>/imageServlet</url-pattern>
</servlet-mapping>Html Exporter code..
JRExporter exporter = null;
JasperPrint jasperPrint = null;
Connection conn = null;
String sourceFile = ReportService.getReportSourceFile(request);
Map map = ReportService.getParameterMap(sourceFile,request);
String contentType = ReportService.getContentType(sourceFile,request);
if(contentType.startsWith("text/html")){
PrintWriter printWriter = response.getWriter();
try{
/* Fetching Connection from a Connection Pool VIA a service*/
conn = DbUtils.getConnection();
/* Creating a JasperPrint Object*/
jasperPrint = JasperFillManager.fillReport(sourceFile,map,conn);
exporter = new JRHtmlExporter();
request.getSession().setAttribute(ImageServlet.DEFAULT_JASPER_PRINT_SESSION_ATTRIBUTE, jasperPrint);
/* printWriter here is a reference for  response.getWriter() */
exporter.setParameter(JRExporterParameter.JASPER_PRINT, jasperPrint);
exporter.setParameter(JRExporterParameter.OUTPUT_WRITER,printWriter);
// gonna set url pattern given for Image servlet with a reponse parameter <url-pattern>/imageServlet</url-pattern>
exporter.setParameter(JRHtmlExporterParameter.IMAGES_URI,"imageServlet?image=");
response.setContentType(contentType);
/* Would write the HTML content to ServletStream Provided */
exporter.exportReport();
}catch(Exception exp){
exp.printStackTrace();
}finally{
try{
if(conn != null && !conn.isClosed())
conn.close();
}catch(Exception ep){
ep.printStackTrace();
}finally{
conn = null;
sourceFile = null;
map = null;
}For any other issues with report format and others try to go through my post.However, you might have to edit your customized settings in terms of image rendering problems or to some customized implementations.

Hi ,
One 'simple' way is by using the DBMS_SCHEDULER db package and the procedure CREATE_JOB(....) using as job_type the value 'EXECUTABLE'...
Read for further info in 'PL/SQL Packages and Types Reference'.
If you have access to OEM ... you can configure this there using wizard.....
Other way is to use the External Procedure call capabiblity of Oracle DB Server...:

• PDF Format Oracle Reports font issue

My process is generating the batch oracle Reports.
Their key map is:
Key1: %* server=server1 userid=xxxs/xxx@xxxx report=D:\sample.rdf destype=file desformat=PDF
My process is calling IAS server to generate report. IAS ser is generating and saving the report in the specified location.Reports are running on the server locally and DESTYPE=FILE. So the Oracle Reports output is saved on the server itself. Whenever i open the report on my machine/server i have font issue. Some of the reports has very tiny font. It seems the reports generated by using oracle reports which is Arial Unicode font type is causing the problem. If any reports other then Arial Unicode font like Arial Westrn, those reports are fine. We have 1000s of reports. So we don't want to change each report font type. For me it seems the issue is with the font on the server. Is there anyway to ask App server use Arial Westrn if Arial Unicode not found. How to make these configuration changes in the server. Any suggestions please.

Maybe this helps or at least points you in some direction ...
Have a look at font aliasing when configuring Application Server : http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B14099_19/bi.1012/b14048/pbr_font.htm#i1006140
If your Application Server is located on Windows I would suggest to install the fonts there.
In Unix, this a more complex task.

• PDF Format Oracle Reports font size is not consistent.

My process is generating the batch oracle Reports.
Their key map is:
Key1: %* server=server1 userid=xxxs/xxx@xxxx report=D:\sample.rdf destype=file desformat=PDF
My process is calling IAS server to generate report. IAS server is generating and saving the report in the specified location. The problem is sometimes the report font size is very tiny (especially headers & footers), it is happening for few reports. What could be the reason is there anyway to make sure that always the generated reports font size is good.

it is happening for few reportsSo is the problem that the same reports-module sometimes has the right font and sometimes not, or is there one report which has always the wrong font?
