Java 1.5 with jsp

I'm using Netbeans 5 RC2 and can't get enhanced for loops to work in jsp pages. I get the error
"for-each loops are not supported in -source 1.4 (try -source 1.5 to enable for-each loops)"
Source level is set to 1.5 in project properties. Any ideas?

I know
yum install tomcat6
yum install tomcat6-webapps
yum install tomcat6-admin-webappson linux system is easy and works
I guess you are using linux as you said */webapp/...../*

  • Java compiler options with JSP

              Is there any way to specify compiler options to use with the JSP compiler through weblogic.properties? I'd like to get the JSPs compiled with the -g option. Thanks.

              How about add
              J=-g
              to "weblogic.httpd.initArgs.*.jsp"?

    i'm new to jsp. i want to create an html form that accepts username and a value from four radio buttons and display back the entered name and checked radio button's value using java bean.
    i use the <jsp:setProperty id="" property="*"> method. i don't know how to access the radio buttons value from the html.
    also when i use an additional field other than username the jsp page is showing error.

  • Iterator behaving abnormally with jsp, while correctly with java

    So I have a class that generates a ListIterator for me, which I should process with jsp. However, the iterator behaves illogically.
    In both java & jsp method i.hasPrevious() returns true, in java i.previous() returns previous element, and jsp terminates with NoSuchElementException.
    I just doublechecked, the content of the iterator is in both cases exactly the same.
    I am using Weblogic 6.1.
    Any help,
    anywhere,
    jussi
    // We have a ListIterator
    ListIterator i = lService.listIterator(0);
    while( i.hasNext() && b) {
       System.out.println( ((Map)i.next()).get("name") );
       // Some other things hereprocessing here...
    } // And here we are, at the end of the iteration...
    // Then we output
    System.out.println( ((Map)i.previous()).get("name") );
    System.out.println( ((Map)i.previous()).get("name") );
    System.out.println( "More? = " + i.hasPrevious() );
    System.out.println( ((Map)i.previous()).get("name") );And the output is:
    Kytttapaus1bPyynt
    Osakkaat
    Osakas
    Osakas
    Osakkaat
    More? = true
    Kytttapaus1bPyynt
    That's cool...
    But the same with jsp:
    <%
    ListIterator i = lService.listIterator(0);
    while( i.hasNext() && b)
      %><%= ((Map)i.next()).get("name") %><%
    %> <%= ((Map)i.previous()).get("name") %><%
    %> <%= ((Map)i.previous()).get("name") %><%
    %> More? = <%= i.hasPrevious() %> <%
    %>And the output is:
    Kytttapaus1bPyynt Osakkaat Osakas Osakas Osakkaat More? = true
    Great!
    Then I add one magic line:
    <%
    %> <%= ((Map)i.previous()).get("name") %><%
    %> <%= ((Map)i.previous()).get("name") %><%
    %> More? = <%= i.hasPrevious() %> <%
    %> <%= ((Map)i.previous()).get("name") %><%
    %>Servlet failed with Exception java.util.NoSuchElementException
    and with
    %> <%= i.previous() %><%
    it is, of course the same...
    This one is giving me headache...

    Now I should say "Damn me!", cause I solved the puzzle. I just had problems understanding the jsp-notation...
    Am a bit newbie with jsp. And a bit with java.

  • How to generate html-code using csv input with JSP or JAVA???

    Hello,
    I want to read out a .csv-file and generate html-code dynmically with JSP in an EP6 Application. The problem is, that the csv-file can’t be located or openend.
    BTW if every knows a good tutorial or weblog for this, please post the link.
    It’s located in a par-archive under:
    />dist>files
    I tried various methods, in the doContent mehtod or with JSP. Everytime same result.
    Here part of the code I tried in the doContent():
    public class CSV extends AbstractPortalComponent
        public void doContent(IPortalComponentRequest request, IPortalComponentResponse response)
            String strWRoot = request.getWebResourcePath();
            String contentCSV="", line="";
            String linesep = System.getProperty("line.separator");
            File fileLoadCSV = new File(strWRoot+"/files/ma_infosysteme.csv");
            boolean exCSV = fileLoadCSV.exists();
            boolean reCSV = fileLoadCSV.canRead();
            int a=0;
            if(exCSV&&reCSV){
                response.write("ok");
                try {
                  BufferedReader inputCSV = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(fileLoadCSV));
                  while((line=inputCSV.readLine())!=null){
                    contentCSV=contentCSVlinelinesep;
                    a++;
                  inputCSV.close();
                catch(IOException ioex){
                    System.out.println("Fehler");
            else {
                response.write("not ok");
            response.write("<br>Wroot: "+strWRoot);
            response.write("<br>File: "+fileLoadCSV);
            response.write("<br>exists: "+exCSV);
            response.write("<br>read: "+reCSV);
            response.write("<br>Input: "+contentCSV);
    The Output is:
    not ok
    Wroot: /irj/portalapps/DHTML
    File: \irj\portalapps\DHTML\files\ma_infosysteme.csv
    exists: false
    read: false
    Input:
    So thanks to everyone who can give me a good hint.
    Bye.

    Without really looking too much into this it looks like the problem is with the way in which you are trying to open the file. I believe that when creating a File object you need to use a physical path. By using the getWebResourcePath() method you are retrieving the URL to this file and not the physical path name. There is another method (can't remember the exact name) called getPublicResourcePath() (or something similar) which will return the physical path to this file, i.e. c:\usr\sap\.....etc. If you try it this way it may well work
    I hope this helps

  • Need help with JSP - Session Bean scenario

    I have massive problems with a simple JSP <--> Statefull Session Bean scenario with Server Platform Edition 8.2 (build b06-fcs)
    What I do is generating a Collection in session bean returning it to JSP

  • Passing struts-tag value to java / javascript variable in JSP

    Hello all,
    Im trying to pass the value got from the struts-tag to the java variable in the Jsp. However Im not able to get the o/p. Can u guys help me on this pls...
    <logic:notEmpty name="TreeBean" property="list">
        <logic:iterate id="Type" name="TreeBean" property="list" indexId="i">
         <br/><bean:write name="Type" />
        </logic:iterate>
    </logic:notEmpty>Here the list can be populated in the jsp page. However i want the values into jsp list. Im not able to populate the same..
    <% List jspList = null;
    %> I want the values into the jspList variable for further processing. Can u guz pls help me on this....

    Which do you want it in?
    A java variable for use in <% scriptlet code %> or a javascript variable for use on the client end?
    scriptlet:
    <jsp:useBean id="TreeBean" type="java.util.List" class="java.util.ArrayList" scope="?????" />
    Having scriptlet code on the page is considered bad coding style.
    What is it you are trying to accomplish by making the value accessible?
    What are you trying to do in java / javascript that can't be done with JSP tags?

    Is ti at all possible that you have another jar / zip file with the same class file in it, seemingly away from the Server classpath ? In which case this could happen even though logically it shouldn't !!!

  • Using java.io.* in JSPs

    What are the minimum requirements (Oracle user access permissions, Solaris file system permissions, etc.) for reading files through java.io in a JSP in Oracle 8.1.6? My code can read a local file when deployed as a standalone app on NT (using thin driver), but fails when deployed as a JSP and tries to read a file local to the Oracle server. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

    Use the Java Developer's Guide for more info on privileges/roles to be granted.
    javasyspriv is a role that gets created when Oracle 8i is installed with java. You should be able to grant it like any other role :
    grant javasyspriv to <<user>>;

  • How can I create a Login-page with jsp???

    Hello,
    I have to create a page with JSP code on the Netweaver Developer Studio.
    But I do not know how I do it.
    Can anyone tell me what to write in the portalapp.xml?
    An example would be very helpful.
    Thank you
    Greetings

    As you can see in the example:
    The portalapp.xml file (deployment descriptor) provides configuration information for your application, and defines the components and services in your application. For each component and service, you specify the implementing Java class and configuration information.
    For more information on the format of the portalapp.xml, see Deployment Descriptor (portalapp.xml).
    <application>
        <application-config>
            <property name="SharingReference" value="com.sap.portal.navigation.service, com.sap.portal.navigation.api_mimeservice, com.sap.portal.navigation.helperservice"/>
            <property name="Vendor" value="MY_COMPANY"/>
            <property name="SecurityArea" value="PERMISSION"/>
        </application-config>
        <components>
            <component name="SimpleNavigationExample">
                <component-config>
                    <property name="ClassName" value="MY_CLASS"/>
                    <property name="SecurityZone" value="no_safety"/>
                </component-config>
                <component-profile/>
            </component>
        </components>
        <services/>
    </application>
    You can only update in this example, your class name and other details:
    <property name="Vendor" value="sap.com"/>
    <property name="SecurityArea" value="MyCompany"/>
    <property name="ClassName" value="LOGINCLASS"/>
    <property name="SecurityZone" value="no_safety"/>
    Modify this portalapp.xml file as follows:
           1.      NAVIGATION SERVICE, so you must add references to the following portal applications that define these services:
            com.sap.portal.navigation.service
            com.sap.portal.navigation.api_mimeservice
            com.sap.portal.navigation.helperservice
           2.      In the <application-config> section, create the following properties that help to define the security zone for all components and services in this application:
    ○     Vendor: String identifying the company or organization that provided the application, for example, sap.com.
    ○     SecurityArea: String identifying the security area for the application, for example, NetWeaver.portal.
           3.      In the <component-config> section for the mySiteMap component, create the property SecurityZone to define the specific security zone for the component.
    For Permission, check this document:
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04s/helpdata/en/44/489e2df5ee4e35e10000000a1553f6/frameset.htm

  • Use of Threads with JSP's

    Can you use threads in a web application that uses JSP's plus Servlets and Beans ?
    We have a JRUN 3.1 application using JSPs, Servlets and Beans. Shortly after we went live it became apparent that any 2 users using the same object experienced problems as one object was overwriting another. In a panic the problem was solved by whacking SYNCHRONISED on all objects.
    Now we want to write another application, are there strategies for using Threads with JSPs?
    Would this be part of the webserver configuration or would the application be coded in a certain way ?
    Please can you give me a simplistic answer or point me to some documentation that gives a simple overview.
    Thanks Steve

    Hi,
    You can use thread with jsp, i am sending u a example
    package thread;
    import java.io.Serializable;
    public class TaskBean implements Runnable, Serializable {
    private int counter;
    private int sum;

    started = false;
    running = false;
    sleep = 100;
    protected void work() {
    try {
    Thread.sleep(sleep);
    counter++;
    sum += counter;
    } catch (InterruptedException e) {
    setRunning(false);
    public synchronized int getPercent() {
    return counter;
    public synchronized boolean isStarted() {
    return started;
    public synchronized boolean isCompleted() {

    Thanks dudes.

    Please excuse me for appearing dim but my JSP skills are rather weak.
    I dynamically create rows in a table from an Iterator. If the mainTopic is news then I need a third column to appear with radio buttons. I have all this done. When a radio button is selected and the UPLOAD button is selected I need to know which of the values in the table was selected.
    When I ran the test below the selected value was null. Can you help me?
    Thanks.
