Java (1.6.0_24) with Firefox 4 on MacOSX fails to get component LocationOnScreen

On MacOSX, with Java 1.6.0_24 (or _22), with Firefox 4, the method getLocationOnScreen() fails to get the right coordinate of an applet.
The returned value changes each time the mouse leaves/enters inside the applet.
This can be tested by deploying an applet with the given code (cf below)
and move the mouse outside/inside the applet.
Its not working with Firefox 4.0.
Java Plug-in 1.6.0_24
Using JRE version 1.6.0_24-b07-334-10M3326 Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM
(the 32bit mode is never activated even if it's checked in the application "get info" panel)
It's working fine with Firefox 3.6.15.
Java Plug-in 1.6.0_24
Using JRE version 1.6.0_24-b07-334-10M3326 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM
import javax.swing.JApplet;
public class MyApplet extends JApplet
@Override public void start()
Thread t = new Thread()
public void run()
while (true)
System.out.println("Loc : " + MyApplet.this.getLocationOnScreen());
try
sleep(500);
catch (InterruptedException e)
e.printStackTrace();
t.start();
}

May it be downloading once without port specification and once with it?
What about 304? Could it be asking for http://localhost:80/xxx and being redirected to http://localhost/xxx (or viceversa)?
JWS identifies files based on exact URL so the one file without port spec is definitively different from the one without.I removed port 80 from applet tag's @jnlp_href, and now I only have one copy in the cache viewer, so thanks for the suggestion!
When I had 2 copies in the cache viewer, they both had identical jnlp files .. neither jnlp specified the port
Also, my jnlp on the server uses @codebase="$$codebase". I see now that the servlet never appends a port number if it is http port 80.
Anyway, now Web Start makes the following requests:
"GET /docx4all/application/applet2.jnlp HTTP/1.1" 200 3725
"GET /docx4all/application/docx4all.jar HTTP/1.1" 200 245142
"GET /docx4all/application/applet2.jnlp HTTP/1.1" 304 -
"GET /docx4all/application/docx4all.jar HTTP/1.1" 304 -
which is much better.
Now it just remains to work out how much of:
<offline-allowed/>
<shortcut online="false">
<desktop/>
<menu submenu="docx4all"/>
</shortcut>
<update check="background" policy="prompt-update" />
I can put back into my jnlp and still have @download="lazy" worked properly
cheers

    When uploading photos on Zenfolio, Java was working fine with Firefox 3.6. But when I upgraded it to Firefox 4.0, Java stopped working properly. When I try to upload photos, the Java text opens up with all the programming codes. With Firefox 4.0, I am not able to upload photos into Zenfolio.

    I was playing pogo and it came up to update Java. Did it and now can't play most of the games like canasta. Says java won't work with firefox.....it did before. try for 4 days not and no luck

    Java is working properly. Still not loading games

  • Java is not working with Firefox (but is working with Safari)

    My computer is showing that Java is not enabled via Firefox. When I try to go into Tools/Add-ons, I see that there is no Java plug-in on that list (though I previously had no problem with Java). When I run software update on my Mac, it tells me my software is all up to date. Not sure what else to do. Java is working in Safari, so the problem is clearly with Firefox. I've tried disabling all my plug-ins, and clearing my cache. Nothing has helped.

    Apple has removed support for the Java Plugin2 with the latest Java Update 10 for OS X 10.5 Java version, so the Java plugin is no longer available for Firefox versions and other browsers like Google Chrome that require the Java Plugin2.
    There will be fix for this in Firefox 6 or in Firefox 5.0.1 if that version will be released, so that Firefox will find the plugin again.
    I don't know if all Java applets will still be working on OS X 10.5 with this fix (Apple recommends updating to OS X 10.6).

  • When accessing eBay with Firefox and launching a search, I get less results/hits with Firefox then when using Internet Explorer, why? Try it, you'll see.

    For example access eBay with Firefox and launch a search on the word Frankenstein: you'll get something like 23,671 results (if you search in ''All categories''). Then quit the Firefox browser and load Microsoft Internet Explorer instead; access eBay again and repeat the very same search: this time you'll get 25,383 results. These are reral figures that I tried at 19:21 on March 20, 2014. Why does a search on eBay through Firefox report less hits than the very same search through Internet Explorer? Using Firefox rather than Microsoft Internet Explorer automatically means missing hits/results/items on eBay: that doesn't make sense but it does happen. Why is it so? Thank you, somebody, for shedding light on this problem.

    Try this steps and try to load the same once again!!!
    Hello,
    Many site issues can be caused by corrupt cookies or cache. In order to try to fix these problems, the first step is to clear both cookies and the cache.
    Note: ''This will temporarily log you out of all sites you're logged in to.''
    To clear cache and cookies do the following:
    #Go to Firefox > History > Clear recent history or (if no Firefox button is shown) go to Tools > Clear recent history.
    #Under "Time range to clear", select "Everything".
    #Now, click the arrow next to Details to toggle the Details list active.
    #From the details list, check ''Cache'' and ''Cookies'' and uncheck everything else.
    #Now click the ''Clear now'' button.
    Further information can be found in the [[Clear your cache, history and other personal information in Firefox]] article.
    Did this fix your problems? Please report back to us!
    Thank you.

  • In iGoogle with firefox 4 I am unable to get the tabs to change down the left hand side or get any response to selections made to items like calender or weather this does not happen in Explorer 9.

    After loading FireFox 4 all worked OK for a while. Now when trying to change the tabs on left hand side (Home etc) or change selections on the apps (Weather or Calender) nothing happens. I am running iGoogle with FireFox 4 but this does not happen when trying the same thing with Explorer 9.

    Having the same problem, but not only can't change tabs, but cannot open links on the page. I thought that by reducing my iGoogle page to one tab, and putting what content I could into app tabs that would solve most of the problems. It did some. For a while I was able to bypass this with the iGoogle Tab Remover add-on but it stopped working last night and I've not been able to get it working since.

  • I cannot access my Yahoo mail with Firefox 6.0.2. I get "Bad Request"

    I can access my email with Safari. I am unable to access it with Firefox 6.0.2. I have tried several times. I've reloaded Firefox twice to no avail.

    Sorry, I had missed that you are on a Mac.
    Clear the cache and the cookies from sites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
    * Firefox > Preferences > Advanced > Network > Offline Storage (Cache): "Clear Now"
    "Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
    * Firefox > Preferences > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
    If clearing the cookies doesn't help then it is possible that the file <i>cookies.sqlite</i> that stores the cookies is corrupted.
    Rename (or delete) <b>cookies.sqlite</b> (cookies.sqlite.old) and delete <b>cookies.sqlite-journal</b> and <b>cookies.txt</b>, if they exist, in the Firefox Profile Folder in case the file cookies.sqlite got corrupted.

  • Java Applets not working with Firefox 5 properly

    Java Applets work sometime. But after sometime the Java icon at the bottom (near date & time) disappears. After this no matter what I do it does not work. Java Applets are used in this case to draw charts. The same charts come out properly in Internet Explorer. But I prefer using Firefox for its speed. What is the reason for this problem ?

    -> Tap ALT key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar
    -> go to Help Menu -> select "Restart with Add-ons Disabled"
    Firefox will close then it will open up with just basic Firefox. Now do this:
    -> Update ALL your Firefox Plug-ins https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/
    -> go to View Menu -> Toolbars -> unselect All Unwanted toolbars
    -> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Content -> place Checkmarks on:
    1) Block Pop-up windows 2) Load images automatically 3) Enable JavaScript
    -> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Privacy -> History section -> ''Firefox will: '''select "Remember History"'''''
    -> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Security -> place Checkmarks on:
    1) Warn me when sites try to install add-ons 2) Block reported attack sites 3) Block reported web forgeries 4) Remember Passwords for sites
    -> Click OK on Options window
    -> click the Favicon (small drop down menu icon) on Firefox SearchBar (its position is on the Right side of the Address Bar) -> click "Manage Search Engines" -> select all Unwanted Search Engines and click Remove -> click OK
    -> go to Tools Menu -> Add-ons -> Extensions section -> REMOVE All Unwanted/Suspicious Extensions (Add-ons) -> Restart Firefox
    You can enable your Known & Trustworthy Add-ons later. Check and tell if its working.

  • Is there other software like Java that is compatible with firefox 9.01?

    I use QuickBooks Online for my work as a bookkeeper. From the Pay One Vendor/Bill Payment screen I type in a vendor name then hit tab. Normally after hitting tab, all of the vendor's open invoices will automatically load onto the screen. But on Tuesday, Firefox automatically updated. I hit tab and nothing happens. I updated my plugins but Java said that its not compatible with the new version of Firefox. What do I do? Or is it something else that needs to be fixed? Please help. Thanks!

    Thanks! The procedure worked great for me (using iTunes 10), however there was one caveat. I also had to edit “AppleMobileDeviceSupport64.msi” with Orca and change the entry in “LaunchCondition” from
    VersionNT64>=600
    to
    VersionNT64>=501
    in order for the Device Manager driver update procedure to work, and iTunes to recognize my iPhone4. Prior to doing this, only “digital still camera” was displayed in the “imaging” entry in Device Manger. Once I did the above, “Apple Mobile Device USB Driver” was listed, and the procedure worked as written.

  • Where can I find Java Plugin that works with Firefox 31.1 on Mac OS 10.68

    I applied just release 'Java for mac OS X 10.6 Update 9'. I am running Firefox 13.1. I did not need a Java Plug-in before but Apple has changed that. Now I need to get a Java Plug-in for Firefox 13.1. I searched and looked at lots of URL, including official Java site and can not find a Java Plug-in for Firefox 13.1. Is there one and where is it?

    Hello,
    please update Java using the Software update feature of Mac OS X:
    Go to [Apple menu] > Software Update and check for available updates.

  • Which version of Java Plugin is compatible with Firefox 9.0.1 and Ubuntu 9.04?

    This happened when i I tried installing JRE.
    I have updated firefox from version 3 to version 9.0.1

    Hi,
    If you have the IcedTea plugin, then Java will be automatically updated by the OS updates or you can manually try to update via the Software Center / Update Manager. Though not sure if Ubuntu 9.04 is still supported.

  • Localhost not working with firefox 7. How do I get it to work with wampserver

    used to be able to access localhost via wampserver but firefox 7 just shows a blank page??? I looked at control panel->internet properties but local host is set as exception. Running XP Pro OS.
    Chrome 14 works fine with localhost but not firefox 7. I have tried the suggestions I found about:config change a few settings but nothing worked (fixup filter, browser filter). Firefox is showing correct url - not adding a www prefix - but still getting blank page???

    I have done the edits with /usr/sbin/lpadmin -o command and they show up in the Printers.conf file. I made sure cupsd was not running at the time. However the macbook keeps right on sending out print jobs.
    Your statements don't seem to go together.  To the best of my knowledge `lpadmin` will not run as a command unless cupsd is running.  You can either use `lpadmin` or stop cupsd and then manually edit the Printers.conf file.  I would recommend using `lpadmin`.
    I am not sure what you put in for "command".  I presume you specified the page limit.  Did you also specify the job quota period?
    I had no problem settin a page quoto as a test.  I set a page quoto of two pages each hour.  My command was:
    lpadmin -p EPSON_Workforce_1100 -o job-quota-period=3600 -o job-page-limit=2
    I then restarted cupsd to make in case the lpadmin command did not cause it to restart:
    sudo launchctl unload /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.cups.cupsd.plist
    sudo launchctl load /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/org.cups.cupsd.plist
    I was able to print two pages.  The third page gave me an error while printing message.

    firefox 26 doesn't work with comcast email. won't keep me signed in; won't show whole inbox in either full or lite; won't allow me to get to preferences; drop downs only work with arrows. I could just keep going.
    Earlier this week they worked fine.

    Be sure to delete the login.comcast.net cookie, it is not near the other comcast and xfinity cookies.
