Java 2 JRE 1.3.1 Install - Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM warning:

I have downloaded and successfully installed the J2RE 1.3.1 on our SUN Box. However when I execute java -version, I get the following error reported:
===================================================================
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM warning: Cannot recognize SPARC version (0x9). Default to V9
Illegal Instruction
===================================================================
My current configuration is as follows:
- I have mounted a drive on our SUN Solaris 2.7 box to another SUN Solaris 2.6 box that has more space. This is where the JRE is actually installed.
- I have remodified the /usr/java soft link to be linked to the drive above:
java -> ../opt/j2re1_3_1_03
- I have the following environment variables defined:
CLASSPATH=.:/usr/java/lib/rt.jar
JAVA_HOME=/usr/java
PATH=/usr/java/bin: (etc, etc...)
What else am I missing? I have attempted to install the j2sdk as well but get the same error. So it must be something basic that is not there. I apologize if this has been addressed before, however, I have searched here and Google to no avail.
Thanks for your help in advance!

The Installation Notes show the following System Requirements:
=======================================================
System Requirements
The JavaTM 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition, v. 1.3.1 is intended for use on Solaris 2.6, Solaris 7, and Solaris 8 operating environments.
=======================================================
So, I'm thinking that the OS is ok.
Another side note:
I have installed all the Required patches as found on the following web page: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.3/install-solaris-patches.html#2.7
Keep those ideas comin'!!!!

  • Java is blocked. Don't know why. Error: Application Blocked Java Plug-In 10.51.2.13 using JRE version 1.7.0_51-b13 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM

    I keep receiving this message when trying to use http://www.exodus-chats.org/DolTerias . it uses a java based chat system, and won't allow me to open the application. I've tried checking through my options menus, but I've found no reason as to why this can be blocked. The only thing I've come up with is my plug ins, but it doesn't allow me to change anything to allow the app to be used.

    Details: Java Plug-In 10.51.2.13 using JRE version 1.7.0_51-b13 Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM

    Starting in Java 7 Update 51, sites that would normally be blocked based on your Java Security settings can be added to an Exceptions list, via the Java Control Panel. • Java Real-Time System HotSpot(TM) Client VM warning: unable to lock pages i

    Error:
    Java Real-Time System HotSpot(TM) Client VM warning: unable to lock pages into memory
    I'm getting this error, although I have assigned all the needed privilegs to root and I am logged in as root. I have done everything described in the guidelines to get the privilegs, but still this warning occurs.
    But my application still works completely with no appreciable differences.
    So my question is: Does this warning affect the performance of my application?? Or can I live with this warning?
    Gordon

    Determinism is an important issue in my application. That's why page locking should be active in my application. When I'm determining the ScopedMemory size via VM like:
    ... -XX:ScopedSize=500000000 ...Then page locking works with a size of 500 mb very well. But when I try to set the ScopedSize value to 1 gb, then the exception (unable to lock page...) is thrown. So it seems as if I had all the required rights, but the huge size is not supported.
    The System has about 6 gb of DDR2Ram and minimum 5 gb are free during starting the VM. So are there any other parameters except ScopedSize that I can change, to allow the VM to lock memory with a size of about 1 gb? Or where is the problem with locking such big sizes?
    Thanks,
    Gordon

  • Log File on Desktop From Java HotSpot

    A colleague's PC has a log file on the desktop, created 28th October. Its title: 'hs_err_pid3268.log'
    Initially we were both concerned since Kaspersky had detected some viruses on his machine on it's nightly scan, however, looking at the log file I'm not sure whether to be worried or not! - It looks legitimate, if a bit odd...
    If somebody more knowledgeable could tell me firstly if it's anything sinister and secondly (if not) what may have cause it and whether it's an issue I should investigate on this machine.
    Thanks in advance, below is the contents of the text file. (As you can see I'm brand new to these forums, apologies if this is not the correct section for these kind of questions).

It is a crash file from the Sun/Oracle VM.
    It either got on the desktop because a user manually moved it there or because something is probably misconfigured (at least to me) in the environment.
    If you are creating java applications (programming in the java language) then you would need to figure out why the app crashed.
    If you are using java applications then you need to tell the vendor that it crashed. And you would not do that here.

  • Java Hotspot VM crashing while printing

    Hi,
    my problem is that when i am trying to PRINT a specific set of sheets through my java application, the JVM is crashing along with clossing all the Internet Explorer windows used by the applicatioin.this behaviour is not consistent, it means sometimes it is working fine (without clossing any IE window), and sometimes not.but i am able to get the prinout everytime.
    system configuration- intel Xeon, 3.2 GHz, 3.50 GB RAM, Windows XP ProfessionalVersion 2002, SP2.
    i am also providing generated log file-
    please help me regarding this...

    At very first moment, I haven't used jdk from arch repo,
    so i was downloaded it from java.sun.com.
    and haven't any problem  jdk1.5.0 or 1.6  with Eclipse, though i didn't tried Azureus.
    PS: so my jdk-1.6.0 is under home directory.

  • Java HotSpot Crashes while printing

    Hi,
    I have been having this problem since a long time and I am unable to find a proper solution nor explanation to this behaviour. The JVM seems to crash whenever I try to print through my java application. The crashing is not predictable. Sometimes it crashes right after I submit the first printJob, sometimes after around 5 printJobs, and sometimes it doesn't crash at all. However, it is occuring very often and I would really appreciate some help on this subject.
    I am using a Pentium IV 2.80GHz with 1 GB of Ram. I have WindowsXP with Service Pack 2 installed.
    The printing is done through the Java Print API (java.awt.print). I have attached the log file generated when the JVM crashes. No exceptions are thrown.
    Thank you.

    OK I am in the Java 2D group at sun and first lets say this is the wrong forum
    to discuss this. Don't post here any more on this. Start a new thread
    in Developer Forums -> Desktop -> Java2D and reference this thread (if you like).
    Second, its by no means clear every one is seeing the same problem.
    Crashes when printing might be due to fonts, if using them, but they might
    also be printer driver issues or one of several bugs we've identified in the
    printing implementation. Many of these are fixed in the latest JDK's (eg
    1.5 update 10 [out soon]) and JDK 6 [also out soon]).
    Use the latest JDK and the latest printer driver for testing.
    Next font crashes can happen on any platform but the ones referenced
    on Intellij IDEA are for Linux fonts called Aakar and Rekar.
    Those are known JDK crashers (bad fonts) and its fixed in JDK 1.5 u10 and JDK6
    6376296 : Aakar and Rekha fonts crash JDK.
    One of those fonts also advertises "" as a name (what's up with that?) , so
    Font font = new Font ("", Font.PLAIN, 12);would hit that. But assuming all of you are on windows these linux fonts are
    not your problem. Other fonts may be but not these.
    The fix for 6376296 is actually quite generic and might fix other font crashes
    so its well worth upgrading. There's at least one font/printing fix there too.
    Its out soon. Please try it. Once you have, if you still see problems, start
    a new thread in the other forum.

    Hi
    Seems like a variant http://bugs.sun.com/bugdatabase/view_bug.do?bug_id=4946945
    How is this reproduced? Just by playing games on pogo? how abt 1.5.0_02?

  • How to install certificate in im client

    i can't find the procedure for installing a certificate in the client - i did the server part:
    http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/819-4412/6n6ikpsut?a=view
    but now i can't find how to do the client part - i'm just using the standard im client obtained from:
    https://localhost/im
    which does a jnlp activation.

    ok - woo hoo - tls encryption kicked in - so i found a parameter that i had not set that was mentioned in the reference section, but overlooked (by me?) in the procedure: iim_server.certnickname - i had wondered how it knew which cert to pull, so i had named the cert the same name as the host to compensate - and there was, after all, only one cert in the file. anyway that plus using the sun mozilla browser on the same host as the im server caused the lock to turn on in the im frame. unfortunately - when i used a mac to try and have a conversation - the mac lock did not turn on - the java version on the mac is:
    java version "1.5.0_07"
    Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.5.0_07-164)
    Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.5.0_07-87, mixed mode, sharing)
    the version on the sun is: 1.5.0_09-b-3. i'll open a forum question about whether a mac is supported and then i'll try im with tls on a pc, then i'll use snoop to make sure the conversation is encrypted. i used the mac in all my testing yesterday - so i t could be that the sun mozilla browser may have been working all along - who knows?

  • After installing Final cut server client on OSX 10.6.8 error: Apple QuickTime or the QuickTime Java component is not installed.

    After installing Final cut server client on OSX 10.6.8 error: Apple QuickTime or the QuickTime Java component is not installed.
    I know this error on windows machines but cannot get a solution for OSX.

    I have fixed this by installing the latest combo update

  • How to install a java based irc client into a hand...

    I've tried to install a java-based irc-client, but all I get is a webpage thanking for downloading. Something is updated for a while, but no application nor any new files seem to have been stored into the handheld nor mem-card.
    Is there a way to installa programs straight from the web other than Ovi-service. I dod not find any links nor feature to browse outside the OVI-store selection. Ovi however loaded with the installer in my phone, XpressMusic 5310.
    B.Sc Information tech
    Phones I have or used to have: ancient Ericsson, Nokia: 6510, 2610, 5310 XpressMusic

    Hey you can create java client using Eclispe or WSAD or far that matter any other IDE. crate a project save the WSDLs in a package. Right click on WSDL goto webservice option. From there you can generate client.
    cheers,
    sapan
    Is it still open ?
    cheers,

  • JRE 1.4.2_04 install and un-install issues

    I was having problems running a Java app and I decided to un-install and re-install my JRE. I am running Windows XP Pro SP1 and IE6 SP1 as well. I went to "Add remove programs" and I noticed I had both of the following:
    Java 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition 1.4.2_03
    Java 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition 1.4.2_04
    I uninstalled revision 3 ok, but unistalling revision 4 gives me this error:
    "Failed to extract file 'Dll_ini' from binary table"
    I get the same exact error trying to re-install Java 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition 1.4.2_04
    I'm stuck here... can anyone lend a hand?

    So... 14 hours later...
    I found a mirror site that had JRE 1.4.2_03 and I downloaded and installed it and I was able to run the apps, but I still could not un-install revision _04
    I did these 5 things and was able to get JRE 1.4.2_04 installed. Actaully, once the Sun license acceptance page came up on install I canceled it because the errors Iwas getting previously happened prior to the License page, so I knew it work. I un-installed revision _03 and then installed revision _04 with the hopes of squelching further errors.
    1. Check and make sure msiexec.exe is not in memory. If it is, and no setup is running at the time, end that task and restart the system. Alternatively, try START, RUN, type "msiexec /unregister", OK and then START, RUN, type "msiexec /regserver", OK
    2. Clean out the Temp directory. C:\Documents and Settings\<USER NAME HERE>\Local Settings\Temp
    3. Delete the C:\Program Files\Common Files\InstallShield\Driver folder and then rerun the setup.
    4. The other potential cause is a missing Stdole.tlb, stdole32.tlb, or stdole2.tlb file. These are core Windows files and should exist on your machine.
    5. I ran SFC.EXE, I did have core WinXP Pro files missing. See MS Knowledge Base article Q310747 http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;310747
    Some of the InstallShield info came from here http://support.installshield.com/kb/view.asp?pcode=ALL&articleid=Q105416&source=support_central&product=wind
