Java 2  vs 1.5.0 (build 1.5.0_07-b03)  against Jinitiator 1.3.1.25

Some Question about Jinitiator against Java 2
1) I have with succesfull use Java 2 vs 1.5.0 insted of Jinitiator 1.3.1.25. There are some difference ?? It is better use Jinitiator ?? (on some pc Jinitiator crash instead Java 2 do not Crash !!! )
2) If it is not Installed Java 2 from application server start a download page taht install from SUN website the Java 2 version 1.4.2 automaticaly. I ask, it is possibile to change on applicatiuon server the versione of download Java 2 from sun WebSite to the last release and in particulary the release 1.5.0, or i must installa manualy this version previous ??
3) Java 2 1.5.0 works with WebUtil, or i Must in this case Jinitiator ??
Thank's Again for Reply !

Yes it is.
Eric is right.
Sun Sun Java Plug-In is better than JInitiator, and you can use either 1.4.2.x or the most recent versions 5.0 well known as 1.5.x.
If you want to download the last version (1.5) from Java.sun automatically instead of 1.4.2.x, just add the lines Eric show in the first link he worte at his blog site and thats it.
And another think, I already read at the oracle form forum, but I did not find any official information from Oracle Corp., is that Oracle JInititator 1.3.x will be the last version they develope at Oracle. It means that wouldn't be a Oracle JInitiator 1.4.x.
If you want to be prepared (in case these information is right) use the 1.4.2.x Sun Java Plug-In or later instead of JInitiator.
And don't worry about it. It will works just fine.

  • Java Update does not install latest build

    Kind of an odd bug I suppose: Java Update only installs up to build 6, even though build 7 is listed on the site. It's possible that the latest build hasn't been placed on the update servers yet, though personally I think there's a problem with Java update itself. It doesn't seem to need to sequentially install the builds either (though, what developer does that anymore?) as after updating to build 6, Java Update stated that it was the latest version.

        A month is too long to have failed updates, ellencav. I know you mentioned you have a Samsung Galaxy 3. Can you clarify if you have the Note 3 or galaxy S 3? Was a warranty replacement offered through Verizon tech support? This way, as long as you met the terms of the warranty, a replacement would be shipped to you and the defective device would be shipped back.

  • Java.util.zip.ZipException error when building

    Good Day All,
    I am a newbie and this is my first JWS deployment. I have an app that I am writing in Netbeans 6.1 that I want to deploy via JWS. The app accesses five different JAR libraries and that is where my troubles started. I thought that I needed to figure a way to configure Netbeans so the libraries would be deployed with my app JAR so it would run correctly using JWS.
    I was trying to get things working and now my problem is that when I build I am getting the following error:
    init:
    deps-jar:
    compile:
    Copy libraries to C:\Java\DataMed\dist\lib.
    To run this application from the command line without Ant, try:
    java -jar "C:\Java\DataMed\dist\DataMed.jar"
    jnlp:
    jnlp-init-generate-master:
    C:\Java\DataMed\nbproject\jnlp-impl.xml:61:  The following error occurred while executing this line:
    C:Java\DataMed\nbproject\jnlp-impl.xml:386:  java.util.zip.ZipException:  error in opening zip file
    BUILD FAILED (total time: 0seconds)Scrolling to line 386 in the jnlp-impl.xml file it says:
    componentsprop="jnlp.components">I futzed with my options so much I can't seem to figure out how to get everything reset so I can get a clean build ! As a newbie to Netbeans I sometimes have difficulty figuring out where all the different things are hidden ... I **think** it all went bad when I was working on the Properties > Libraries > Compile > Compile-time Libraries but I can't remember.
    So I have two questions really:
    1) How can I resolve the ZipException error? I suspect it is one of the JAR libraries but how can I tell ?
    2) How do I get JWS to find my five libraries ? I now suspect that I am supposed to upload the five libraries to the webserver and then in my JNLP it will have links to the libraries in the <resources> part of the code. Is that correct ?
    Edited by: DBirdManAR on Aug 10, 2008 7:22 AM
    Rather than spend to much time figuring this out, I just used my revert modifications through my SVN to go back to a previous version that builds correctly.

    Hi,
    I have the same problem but I cannot solve it.
    Help much appreciated.

    Hello Maksim,
    thank you for your proposal. I already did this, the development component that gets generated is of type Java.
    It seems that it looses the java connector nature. When I deploy the composite application with the ear development component the resource adapter gets not build and not deployed at all.
    Are thee additional steps that I have to do ?

  • Properties files in a Java package not included in DC build

    We are developing a Portal Standalone DC and i have a JspDynPage component within it. and i need to do internationalization in  it. so as part of that i want to keep multiple resource bundles(properties) so that i could manage my properties files easily, For example
    MSS.properties
    MSS_es.properties
    ESS.properties
    LSO.properties
    since portal by default has no way to do this bcos it allows only one resourcebundle to specify in portalapp.xml file, i have kept the resource bundles in java package like
    com.companyname.portal.resources.
    when i export from NWDS with selection of "i want to add non java resources into jar " option from windows->preferences->enterprise portal ->application development studio, it exports all the properties files as part of the par and everything works. but when i do the DC build it ignores all my properties files and it is not working. any suggestions on how to resolve this??? does SAP provide any other way of handling multiple properties files inside a PAR?????

    We are using NWDS 2004 SP19.  and yes i have defined three default SCs as dependencies. I tested with 2004s NWDS and it seems work fine. I am able to resovle this issue by moving my properties files into another java DC and create public part in java DC and use those public parts in Portal application DC.
    So The problem of not including the properties files into Jar seems to be issue only in Portal Application DC not in Java DC. thanks everyone for the quick responses..

  • Java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: while starting Integration Builder!

    Hello experts,
    I was working on IR absolutely fine. The connection went off and I tried to log in to IB again. It gave me locking error when I was trying to edit any object. So the BASIS guy stopped the XI server and tried to make it up again.
    After that when I am trying to open Integration builder, its giving me the following error:
    "Application error occurred during request processing.
      Details:   java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: com.sap.aii.ibrep.server.transport.impl.service.InternalRepTransportServiceImpl (initialization failure)
    Exception id: [000D604D0DA7005D00000019001FC08E0004424566F0368A]"
    Neither me nor my BASIS guy are having any idea why this error is comming all of a sudden when everything was working absolutely fine.
    Can anyone please help me in resolving this issue as this is very critical?
    Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Yash

    Hi Matias,
    We tried all possible ways like restarting the workstation and the server. Infact only after we stoped the server and tried to put it up, this problem started coming. It was working fine perviously. We are trying all possible ways to reslove it but till now no major success. It is really hampering my development schedule.
    I will ask my BASIS guy to check the management console. Even I tried to see what was the error in the XI administrator login and i found that many of the services (under Admistration - Application) are either in status "Stopped" or "Implicit_Stopped" and when we try to start them, they dont get started!! One of the application among them is also tcslmslmapp! How can that be started?
    Will thsi problem impact on all the developments i have done till now?
    Also the detail error trace which i get when starting IB is:

  • Java EE5 Tutorial -  'ant create-tables' BUILD FAILED

    Hi,
    Appologies, this is quite a begineers question, hopefully it's an easy one to answer. I've searched for the last few hours regarding this issue,
    trying things and searched the forums here at sun with no similar issue. As you can see below, I cannot create the tables for the bookstore1 application using 'ant'.
    I am getting a FileNotFoundException however the delete.sql and tutorial.sql files are at this location C:\javaee\javaeetutorial5\examples\common\sql\javadb\
    I have also made sure that the files have read and write access. I know their could be some permissions issues using vista if I installed at C:/ProgramFiles, so everything is in C:/
    Another thing I have tried is using the ant command directly even though the PATH is in my enviroment variables, just incase another version was conflicting, as I read about people having such issues.
    "C:\Sun\AppServer\lib\ant\bin\ant create-tables" => This gave the same error as below. Im not sure what other information may help you help me here, so just ask.
    Annoying thing is, this example worked fine when I set up the environment on my work laptop (which I have no access to now) earlier, I didn't have this issue.
    Thanks for your help.
    /Paul.

  • RDP and JAVA (SLOW ON TYPING AND SCREEN BUILD)-CTRL-ALT-END-ESC speeds up

    Any news what's the problem in a 2003 environment?
    Only after using the CTRL-ALT-END-ESC combination things are speeding up.
    We've got following installed on the server:
    JNLP Runtime Setiings
    1.3.1_19
    1.5.0_06
    Both enabled and 1.5.0_06 is enabled as system.
    Tried different combination and this seems to be the fastest, but still not good enough,if you launch it locally on theserver, it goes very fast,so it has someting to do with RDP,
    Any help?
    Greetings,
    Dre

    What's the problem with what? 'It' being what? and RDP having what to do with it?
    Just curious ... call me old-fashioned.

  • Where is autodownload link for JRE Version Build 1.5.0_09-b03?

    http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/technotes/guides/deployment/deployment-guide/autodl-files.html
    I realize I can put the link in object tag so that user can actually go and download the require JRE from the website. But I am not too sure where is the auto download for the version I need. =(

    I knew the link for 1.5.0_09 autodownload already. But I still have no idea what is the classid for it??

  • How to Force Internet Explorer specific Java Runtime Environment?

    Problem: UConn uses a tool called Blackboard. Blackboard requires Version 1.5.0 (build 1.5.0_07-b03)
    but I develop so NETBeans IDE needs/wants JDK6 ( likes JDK 6 Update 16 )
    Tried managing add-ons in IE, Tried Firefox too.
    What I want is to have IE forced to the JDK5 runtime and let my other applications (NetBeans, Oracle, OracleSQLDeveloper, Firefox and MYSQL use the JDK6). I know NEtBeans will allow to specify which JDK but it seems that IE still sees both and screws up.
    Things I tried but didnt work: managing add-ons and I saw items like this Force Internet Explorer to use a specific Java Runtime Environment install?
    from: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/71254/force-internet-explorer-to-use-a-specific-java-runtime-environment-install
    First, disable the currently installed version of Java. To do this, go to Control Panel > Java > Advanced > Default Java for Browsers and uncheck Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    Next, enable the version of Java you want to use instead. To do this, go to (for example) C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_15\bin (where jre1.5.0_15 is the version of Java you want to use), and run javacpl.exe. Go to Advanced > Default Java for Browsers and check Microsoft Internet Explorer.
    To get your old version of Java back you need to reverse these steps.
    Note that in older versions of Java, Default Java for Browsers is called <APPLET> Tag Support (but the effect is the same).
    The good thing about this method is that it doesn't affect other browsers, and doesn't affect the default system JRE.
    Any ideas?

    Simple then - bad idea.
    If your minimal target is 1.5 then you develop in 1.5. If you insist on using 1.6 for functional reasons then you will need to maintain two development environments on your box 1.5 and 1.6. You explicitly build support for 1.6 and detection for that into the code and test it using 1.6. And test using 1.5 as well.
    Note you must test both 1.5 and 1.6. Full functional tests.
    Obviously limiting yourself to 1.5 would require less effort (cost.)

  • New server and/or CA certificate for connection from custom authentication

    We are running Access Manager version 72005Q4 in the Sun ONE Web Server 6.1SP5 B06/23/2005 container with java build 1.5.0_07-b03. I run a custom authentication module which checks sessions against our university single sign on system which is CAS (from Yale/Jasig). The checks are essentially https calls. All this has been working well for us for the last couple of years.
    I would like to migrate the certificate used on the university CAS system from a Verisign certificate to a wildcard certificate issued by the IPS CA in spain -- these are in most browsers but are not in the standard batch of cacerts CA's -- and are free for .edu domains.
    My other java based authentication plugins (Blackboard, custom apps etc) have worked fine once I import the certificate into the cacerts for the java container, but I'm missing something (obvious probably) about importing this certificate so that my amserver custom authentication module can connect to the CAS server once the CAS server is using the new certificate.
    Could anyone provide guidance on where I need to import this server certificate (or preferably the IPS CA) in order to allow the custom authentication module to work properly? I assume this same problem has been solved by people wishing to connect from the amserver to services with self signed certificates. For some reason I'm finding the debugging unexpectedly difficult, I'll outline some of those details below.
    Relevant things I've tried so far:
    Import both the server cert and the IPS CA into the cacerts of the java container identified in the web server server.xml /usr/jdk/entsys-j2se.
    Import the IPS CA into the web server cert8 style db via the web admin server.
    The debugging has surprised me a bit, as I'm not getting an error that is explicitly SSL related error. It almost seems like the URLConnection object ends up using a HttpURLConnection rather than an HttpsURLConnection and never gives me a cert error, rather a connection refused since there is no non SSL service running on CAS. The same code pointed to the server running the verisign cert works as expected.

    The relevent bit of code from the SecureURL.retrieve looks as follows:
    URL u = new URL(url);
    if (!u.getProtocol().equals("https"))
    throw new IOException("only 'https' URLs are valid for this method");
    URLConnection uc = u.openConnection();
    uc.setRequestProperty("Connection", "close");
    r = new BufferedReader(new InputStreamReader(uc.getInputStream()));
    String line;
    StringBuffer buf = new StringBuffer();
    while ((line = r.readLine()) != null)
    buf.append(line + "\n");
    return buf.toString();
    } finally { ...
    The fact that this same code in other authentication modules running outside the amserver (in other web containers as well, tomcat and resin for example) running java 1.5 works fine with the new CA, as well as with self signed certs that I've imported into the appropriate cacerts file leads me to believe that I'm either importing the certificate into the wrong store, or that there is some additional step needed for the amserver in the Sun Web container.
    Thank you very much for any insights and help,
    Ethan

    I thought since this has had a fair number of views I would give an update.
    I have been able to confirm that the custom authentication module is using the cert8 db defined in the AMConfig property com.iplanet.am.admin.cli.certdb.dir as documented. I do seem to have a problem using the certificate to make outgoing connections, even though the certificate verifies correctly for use as a server certificate. This is likely a question for a different forum, but just to show what I'm looking at:
    root@jbc1 providers#/usr/sfw/bin/certutil -V -n "FSU Wildcard Certificate" -d /opt/SUNWwbsvr/alias -P https-jbc1.ucs.fsu.edu-jbc1- -u V
    certutil: certificate is valid
    root@jbc1 providers#/usr/sfw/bin/certutil -V -n "FSU Wildcard Certificate" -d /opt/SUNWwbsvr/alias -P https-jbc1.ucs.fsu.edu-jbc1- -u C
    certutil: certificate is invalid: Certificate type not approved for application.
    root@jbc1 providers#/usr/sfw/bin/certutil -M -n "FSU Wildcard Certificate" -d /opt/SUNWwbsvr/alias -P https-jbc1.ucs.fsu.edu-jbc1- -t uP,uP,uP
    root@jbc1 providers#/usr/sfw/bin/certutil -V -l -n "FSU Wildcard Certificate" -d /opt/SUNWwbsvr/alias -P https-jbc1.ucs.fsu.edu-jbc1- -u C
    FSU Wildcard Certificate : Certificate type not approved for application.
    So it could be that I don't understand how to use the certutiil to get the permissions I want, or it could be that using the same certificate for both server and client functions is not supported -- though you can see why this would be a common case with wildcard certificates.
    BTW for those interested, it did seem to be the case that when the certificate failure occurred that the attempt was then made by the URLConnection to bind to port 80 in cleartext even though the URL was clearly https. I'm sure this was just an attempt to help out misformed URL, but it seemed that the URLConnection implementation in the amserver would swapped traffic over cleartext if that port had been open on the server I was making the https connection to; that seems dangerous to me, I would not have wanted it to quietly work that way exposing sensitive information to the network.
    This was why I was getting back a connection refused instead of a certificate exception. The URLConnection implementation used by the amserver is defined by java.protocol.handler.pkgs=com.iplanet.services.comm argument passwd to the JVM, and I imagine this is done because the amserver pre-dates the inclusion of the sun.net.www.protocol handlers, but I don't know, there maybe reasons why the amserver wants it own handler. I only noticed that this is what was going on when I as casting the httpsURLConnection objects to other types trying to diagnose the certificate problem. I would be interested in hearing if anyone knows if there is a reason not to use sun.net.www.protocol with the amserver.
    After switching to the sun.net.www.protocol handler I was able to get my certificate errors rather than the "Connection Refused" which is what lead me to the above questions about certutil.

  • Field selection problem in Oracle Forms

    I am using an application created in Oracle 6i Forms (patch 11).
    Mouse navigation in the forms do not work properly.
    Since a field is selected and some string is typed then first character is always ignored hence it is necessary to press a key like before typing required string.
    I'm using Java VM 1.4.1 on client-side,
    The same application works well when I'm using Oracle JInitiator.
    does anybody know how to work around the problem ?
    thanks

    Hi, again and thanks for the patience. I am using the oracle plugin all the time and it works. But I need to use the application on different computer where the oracle JInitiator could not be installed. There I am trying to use the Sun Java Plugin Version 1.4.2_06 (build 1.4.2_06-b03) which shall be compatible. Since last time I asked again the provider and I found that the application is pure Oracle Forms 9i application which doesn't need Java when it is run on the computer where the application is instaled. The Java plugin is then used to show the forms and to provide the comunication between clients and application server. Probably it is clear to you however I am not a developer but poor user only. I have also tried to play with the application to find how it works (or doesn't works). It seems that the problem is exactly with mouse navigation. When tab or enter is used then it works fine. But when a form field is selected by mouse then a character is typed and i can see it. But when I continue with the writing the first character is overwrite. Sometimes when there is a list of records row by row and I try to get to next row using the mouse the application tells me that some bloody key is not valid but using the key down I can easily go ti next row. To tell the truth I don't like mouses at all so it is no problem to me but other users do not know how Tab works :-)
