Java and Word Docs

Few weeks ago I posted a question about: Word document and Java. Is there anyway that a Java application can access a Word Document.
I need to create a template in word and then fill the document a run time.
Thank you for your help.

The problem is, even if you can discover the format used by the current version of word you can pretty much guarantee your code won't work with the next version.
RTF is probably a better bet because the definition is public domain, and stable.

    -My new HP Officejet Pro 8610 printed a newly scanned pdf document as an all black picture. I then printed a saved word documtent from my iMac which included a small picture. The document print was acceptable, but the picture was solid black. There were no error messages. These were, my initial tests, to check this new printer.

    Hey there @TM-10
    Welcome to the Community
    I read through your post about your new Officejet 8610 scanning a document to your computer and printing out all black. I have a couple ideas for you to try.
    Try the steps in this guide: Unexpected Scan Output Using HP Scan Application for HP Multifunction Printers When Using OS X v10.9...
    Press the Power button to turn on the product.
    With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
    Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    Wait at least 15 seconds.
    Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
    Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
    If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.
    Ensure the printer is plugged in directly to the wall outlet, avoiding power bars and surge protectors. This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help.
    Good luck

  • Viewing/Syncing PDF and Word Docs?

    I read before I bought my iPhone that it would have support for PDF and Word Docs. How do I view and store these docs? Since I can sync music and movie files, can I sync documents too?

    So I can store and view a 700MB movie, but not and 8kb text file? Are you kidding? I've tried emailing myself a PDF, but I can only view it in Mail's tiny vertical window. So far I have been unable to open ANY PDF on the Web. I get an error "Safari can not download this type of file."
    There is no way to sync/view a PDF like I sync/view Photos? Why include PDF support then implement it in the narrowest way imaginable? This phone just became useless in any type of business environment. It is unbelievable that on an 8 gig Phone I can't even store a PDF, Word, or TXT file. Looks like this phone is a $600 toy, not a device for a serious user.

    Dear Portal Gurus,
    Using KM API, I am trying to download, documents from KM in my Web Dynpro Application. But .pdf files and word docs with screenshots are not getting retrieved from KM. Hi,
    Which web browser are you using to view the PDF? Safari 5.1.8
    When you open the PDF in Adobe Reader add-in you will either see a floating toolbar
    http://forums.adobe.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/2-5224223-317859/430-90/floating +toolbar.JPG
    or a normal toolbar
    http://forums.adobe.com/servlet/JiveServlet/downloadImage/2-5224223-317860/450-11/normalto olbar.JPG
    both the toolbars have save button, use the button to save the file locally. I do not see these toolbars. I do, however see this
    and it works! Thanks
    Hope this will help you.
    Thanks

  • Adobe Reader tries to open all files even Excel and Word docs.

    When I try to open files that are sent to me, the Adobe Reader tries to open them all instead of an Excel file getting opened automatically by Excel and a .doc being opened by Word.
    The message I get by the Reader says it cannot open it, of course. (I have Windows Vista on my HP computer if that is the problem.) Someone told me to take the default off of the Reader so the files open and download in the proper software program, but I am unable to find such a "default" option in the Reader program properties.
    I never had this problem with any previous Windows version, so not sure if it is my computer, or the Reader. How can I fix this so when I download or open a file, it automatically opens in the right software?

    This means that the file associations of the various Office programs have been muddled up somehow. Try an Office repair install; that should correct the file associations.

  • Insert a spreadsheet and word docs into a PDF with hyperlinks

    I have a spreadsheet index with hyperlinks to 455 single page word docs. I want to make a single pdf by inserting the spreadsheet followed by the word docs.
    Is there a way of having the hyperlinks recognize the inserted word docs pages inside the pdf via the original hyperlinks, or do I need to remove the hyperlinks before inserting the spreadsheet and then do bookmarks for all 455 pages? Or some other method?

    James,
    I doubt that will work. But it should be easy enough to find out. If you
    print to pdf from ID, I guarantee is will not work. If you export from
    ID, I doubt it will work, but ask in the ID forum, since the creation
    does not depend upon Acrobat.

  • Changing default application for Pages and Word docs?

    I wasn't sure if this was the right place to ask this...
    I just got a new computer, running Tiger. I own older copies of Word (which I hate) and iWork (which I love). When I copied my data to my new computer, all my documents defaulted to opening in the new versions of those programs. Furthermore, it won't let me change the program that opens those type of documents.
    I open the information on a document, tell it to open in Pages 1.0, and that works fine. But if I try to tell it to "Change All", it just reverts to Pages 2.0. The exact same thing happens when I try to tell Word docs to open in my old version of Word, or with Keynote. I can open my files just fine within the program, but it's getting really, really irritating not to be able to open documents by double clicking.
    Any advice? I can't afford to buy the new programs, even if I wanted them (which I don't, in the case of Word).

  • PFD's and word docs sending as zipped, how to stop this?

    When I email docs to that were created in pages and then exported and saved as PDF's or word docs, the recipient gets them zipped and can't open them.  I have 'windows friendly docs' enabled.  Can anybody explain this please?

    Please send yourself a test message with a PDF file attached. Is the attachment converted to a ZIP file?

  • IWeb and word doc

    If I make a word doc on my Mac and load it to the website, I can log on and print it ok from any computer (PC & Mac). But if I create the word doc on a pc, copy it to the mac, upload to website, it prints ok from a mac, but from a pc it prints reversed, ie black page, white print. Any ideas?

    Have you considered converting it to a PDF file and posting that. Would that print properly on the dark side?
    Do you Twango?

  • Entourage and Word Doc Attachments

    I've recently started using Entourage (Office 2004 version) in place of Mail. Occasionally I get a Word doc attachment that I can't open. I get a message stating it is either in use or is not a properly formatted doc. I can switch over to Mail and open the same doc with no problem at all. Any idea what the issue might be? It's not a show stopper, just a minor annoyance. Somewhat like not getting the free upgrade to Office 2008 because I forgot to send in the original boxtop (the original receipt wasn't good enough for Microsoft). Sorry, my anti-Microsoft bias is showing. Any help is appreciated.

    Since Office is not an Apple product, you should consider posting your question on MIcrosoft's own forums for their Office:Mac products, as they would be geared more toward your issue than an Apple forum:

  • Binary Data to PDF and Word Doc

    All,
    We have requirement to open a PDF or DOC in a new window from a BAPI output structure. The field returned from the BAPI is a binary field. Following is the code that is implemented for this scenario.
    for(int i=0;i<wdcontext.nodeOutput().nodePtx_Drao().size();i++)
    IWDCachedWebResource resource = WDwebResource.getWebResource(wdcontext.nodeOutput().nodePtx_Drao().getPtx_DraoElementAt(i).getOrblk(), WdWebResourcetype.PDF);
    IWDWindow win = wdComponentAPI.getWindowManager().createNonModalExternalWindow(resource.getUrl(WDFileDownloadBehaviour.OPEN_PLACE.ordinal()), "test");
    win.open();
    The problem we are facing here is when we try to open the PDF it throws an error saying "File does not begin with '%PDF-'". If we try to open a word document by changing the resource type some junk values are coming.
    Has anyone come across this type of development issues?
    Appreciate all your replies and new inputs in this regard.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Nagarajan.

    Hi,
    I also tried with the same using the below code. Even I am getting the same error.
    byte[] test=new byte[9];test[0]=2;
    IWDCachedWebResource resource = WDWebResource.getWebResource(test,WDWebResourceType.PDF);
    When i tried the same code with other file type its working file.
    IWDCachedWebResource resource = WDWebResource.getWebResource(test,WDWebResourceType.DOC);
    From where are you getting this actual byte array? from R/3?. In internet if you search about this error we are getting the results like "The PDF file has a .mme extension rather than a .pdf extension".
    Note: This is not the problem with Window or LinkToURL ui elments.
    Posting this to give you an idea.
    Regards,
    Charan

  • HT4910 Can I backup my Powerpoint and Word docs on iCloud

    I want to be able to access my Powerpoint docs via iCloud, is it possible?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
    Yes you can do that.
    You can add word, excel and PowerPoint documents to iCloud via the appropriate iWork application (ie, pages for word, numbers for excel etc) when you do this, they can be opened by iWork apps on mobile device or by iWork or MS Office on a computer.
    In addition to this, you can add most types of documents to iCloud through text edit and preview.

  • Saving versions of excel and word docs to CD

    I can't believe what I have just learned. Recently converted to Mac from PC. In Windows you can save version after version, in the same session, or in successive sessions, open them (Read Only), make changes, do a Save As, all of these things, right back to the same CD.
    I just came from the Genius Bar at the Mac store, who confirmed for me that only one file can be written to a CD. The CD, when viewed in Finder, moves from being listed under Places, to becoming listed as a Device, above, once the first (and only) file has been burned to it. After that first burn, try and drag another document onto the icon for the CD under devices. and thence another burn...NO GO. I just can't believe this. One file per CD?
    The guy at Mac downloaded Liquid CD from the Internet for me (shareware). I can't figure it out.
    Is there a better software out there? Can't believe I even should need it. Isn't word processing, and saving versions on one disk, the most basic of functions for a notebook computer?
    Thanks
    Randy

    This should help you out... it sounds like you are finalizing your CD (which prevents writing to it again). This is actually the default. You need to make the disk appendable in order to be able to write to it more than once. This is for OS X 10.4, but the procedure is the same for 10.5:
