JNI/Java vs Word (.Doc)

How can I run MS Word from JNI? <br>
Or How can I use some library for working with MS Word? Libraries that eplane in another threads doesn't work. It show me error that no object is created or cocreate object error.<br>
If somebody know how to get MS Word Documents without MS Word - Pure 100% Java Solution? - Prefere this solution. <br>

Tell me links or examples, I will check it.

Check out the POI project at jakarta.apache.org:

Specifically, the HDF (Horrible Document Format) APIs.
IBM also has a docfile API available that mimics java.io.File and also a doc file stream similar to java.io.RandomAccessFile.

  • Java and Word Docs

    Few weeks ago I posted a question about: Word document and Java. Is there anyway that a Java application can access a Word Document.
    I need to create a template in word and then fill the document a run time.
    Thank you for your help.

    The problem is, even if you can discover the format used by the current version of word you can pretty much guarantee your code won't work with the next version.
    RTF is probably a better bet because the definition is public domain, and stable.

  • How to load word .doc-files into java applications?

    Hi,
    I want to load a word .doc-file (or any other type of document) into a java application, as part of the application.
    Is there any java special library to do it?
    Any solution or hint?
    Thank you.

    No, there is no existing Java library to do it that I am aware of. You could write your own, however, as the Word 97 binary file format is published. I am not sure that the Word 2000, or XP formats are as well, but since they put out the 97 presumably they'd do the same with the rest -- although I am suprised that Micro$$$oft even published the 97 format.
    A library such as this would take quite some time write, due to the extensive format, but here's a link to a copy of it just so you can see what it'd take: http://www.redbrick.dcu.ie/~bob/Tech/wword8.html
    Also keep in mind that Micro$$$oft has never remained binary compatable between versions. In short, this means that you'd have to parse each version's documents differently. Not a fun task.
    If a Java library to read Micro$$$oft file formats already does exist, I'm willing to bet that it costs $$$ mucho dinero $$$.
    Hey, aren't proprietary file formats just wonderful?

  • Java Library for MS Word (.doc) to PDF Conversion

    Hi,
    My customer would like to use BI Publisher's PDF Binding and Merging features to combine BIP PDF outputs with another documents in Solaris platform. However, currently those documents are all in Word .doc format only and the customer does not want to consider converting those into other formats like RTF.
    Does BI Publisher provide library for converting .doc format directly into PDF? If not, does anyone know a Java library on the market that can best do the job?

  • Printing a microsoft word doc using Java Print API

    Hi,
    I have to print a microsoft word doc.I am using Java Print API, but the code is printing only Hashcodes instead of the actual document.
    Here is the code. Please let me know whats wrong in it.
    CODE:::
    public String print() throws Exception {
    String realPath = getRealPath("/images/formLibrary/csaAddressContactRequestForm100.doc");
    PrintRequestAttributeSet pras1 = new HashPrintRequestAttributeSet();
    DocFlavor flavor1 = DocFlavor.INPUT_STREAM.AUTOSENSE;
    PrintService defaultService = PrintServiceLookup.lookupDefaultPrintService();
    DocPrintJob job = defaultService.createPrintJob();
    FileInputStream fis1 = new FileInputStream(realPath);
    DocAttributeSet das = new HashDocAttributeSet();
    Doc doc1 = new SimpleDoc(fis1, flavor1, das);
    job.print(doc1, pras1);
    Thread.sleep(10000);
    System.exit(0);
    return "";
    }

    By using an appropriate library. JText, whatever.
    Google, man.I think Rene meant iText!Whatever. :) Never used it, I just remembered there was something named like that. Thanks.

  • Does java print service support word docs or text files

    Can anyone tell me that java print service api allows to print word doc files or RTF files etc.

    no it doesn't.
    To print a Word Doc you need to be able to read it, and display it.
    Anything that can be displayed in, say a JPanel, can be printed, cos it's just a matter of displaying the
    image to a virtual component ( a print canvas ). Which then gets printed.
    So, because Java doesn't immediately support Ms Docs, neither does the print service.

  • Can Java be used to parse Microsoft Word(.doc) files?

    Hi guys ,
    I want to know whether Java can be used to parse Microsoft Word(.doc) files for searching a string or for checking for grammatical errors, etc
    Thanks in advance.
    Avichal

    Hey man, anything and every thing can be done these days.
    About ur question doc is like all other normal text files with some extra features and extra character supports and other stuffs.
    If u neglect those parts and if u consider it to be a normal text file then its a much simpler job.
    Here is a code that searches for the key word in all the doc files, txt files, pdf files and html files
    in the mentioned folder and sub folders. Any way its a servlet u can change it to a normal program.
    It first check the file to know whether they are doc, pdf, html or txt files if yes then it will read the file and
    store the contents in the vector and parse the vector for the search string and display the result.
    Along with the result the below code will also display the time taken and the number of search string found in the document
    import java.io.*;
    import java.util.*;
    import java.net.*;

  • How to Store word doc in java using oracle9i

    hi

    bye

    i whant a pice of code that will help me to store word doc in oracle9i please do > this for me Nope, imagine we are consultants who just provide you with a direction to your
    investigation.
    There's a few approachs...
    1. You store the entire word document ( or any arbitrary binary file ) in a BLOB
    field. ( binary large object ).
    Have a search for Oracle, JDBC and BLOB.
    2. You somehow extract the text from the Word document, losing all formating,
    and store the text in a database field. ( CLOB ) Character large object.

  • Open Word Doc from form in web setting not client/server

    Hello, I am new to form. I need to open a word doc (on client PC )from Oracle Form by a button click. I did some research online and looks like Client_Ole2 is the package I need. But when I looked into my Build-in Package (in forms builder), I only see OLE2, TEXT_IO etc. So when I try to declare a variable which is CLIENT_OLE2 like some post suggest, I got error message "identifier CLIENT_OLE2.OBJ_TYPE must be declared".
    So is that means that I need to install/setup WebUtil on my env to get this Client_Ole2 to show up on Form Builder?
    Thanks for help, please advise.

    I found the way to add webutil.pll to attached Libraries.This is the wrong way. Open the webutil.olb in the Forms Builder. Then open your form you want to add the Object Library too. In the Object Libraries node of the Object Navigator - double-click on the WEBUTIL node. This will open the Object Library properties window. Click on and drag the WEBUTIL entry to the Object Groups node of your Form. You will be prompted "Do you want to copy the object or subclass it?" Click on the Subclass button.
    Subclassing is a Forms method that allows you to share a single source of an object/code between multiple Forms. It is Forms' way of implementing inheritance.
    I also copied them to /forms/java directory too.This is not necessary. I recommend you delete the files you copied to the /forms/java directory. Forms will find the libraries if the .../forms directory is listed in your FORMS_PATH environment variable (see the default.env file). The /DevSuiteHome/forms directory should be the first directory listed in the FORMS_PATH variable.
    Remove path?". So I selected Yes. But when I run form, I got FRM_40039: Cannot attach library webutil while opening form ......".The fact that you are getting this error indicates that the /forms directory is NOT part of the FORMS_PATH.
    If I choose No to keep the hard code path, then if I deploy the form to testing server or production server, it will become problem! Right? How to solve this?Double-check to ensure it is listed. The variable entry should look something like:
    FORMS_PATH=D:\DevSuiteHome_1\forms;<any other directories you want to be part of your path seperated by ";">Hope this helps,

  • A font not used in an MS Word doc is showing up in the PDF properties and won't embed

    A friend needed a new manuscript uploaded to a publishing site. I retyped it in MS Word (2007) using NO formatting shortcuts and using only ONE font (Georgia)  for both body and headers/footers. Placed all the jpg illustrations on the pages. Then saved it in the required PDF format for the publisher's system to use. They also require that ALL fonts/symbols are embedded. Even ONE character that is not embedded will void the file. I'm now on attempt 17.
    When I checked the properties on this PDF file, the font I used, including italics, symbols and bolding, are noted as embedded. However, it also says that there is ARIEL font (which I did not use) that is NOT embedded. AARRGGHH.
    This gal wants her book ready in two weeks. HOW can I resolve this? Any ideas? I saved it once through MS Word using the PDF option, but also tried it through my Photoshop Elements. Same result. My PC uses Windows 8 (NOT 8.1) and the Adobe Reader XI.0.7. The Java files are the most current update as of yesterday.

    It seems to me to be a problem of MS Word, not Adobe Reader.
    Also, I don't know how you can convert a Word doc to PDF with Photoshop Elements.
