JAVA API (javaDoc) Functionality

Hello all
I have come across the following idea after wasting some considerable time browsing the Java API (JavaDoc).
The API is a great tool in assisting programmers who are not so experienced and do not know the API so well. It also helps experienced programmers in browsing foreign packages.
However, something that is missing in the API is a function which allows you direct access to methods which return a specific object.
Example: I need an object X, and it is not possible to initialise or directly access this object (Iterator which is infact an Interface). How do I access methods in other classes that return object X ( Iterator I = (Hashmap.keySet()).iterator(); Therefore, the method iterator() from Interface Set, and subsequently the method keySet() from class Hashmap).
I am sure that such a functionality built in future javaDocs will help a lot of programmers browsing through the API.
Finally, I hope this is the right forum for such requests.
Faz

Do you mean you want to access a method on an object but the type of the object isn't known until runtime? If this is what you mean than you might want to take a look at the Reflection API:

    The Java Function Activity Agent is not certified for Oracle Workflow embedded in Oracle Applications. Installing standalone workflow should be a lot easier than what you have found, although it looks like you did hit a Pentium 4 issue with the Oracle Universal Installer. I suggest you contact Oracle Support or Oracle Consulting for assistance.

  • How to start to work on MDM JAVA API by using webdynpro for java

    Hi all
    I have basic idea on MDM business package thru portal by using standard iViews.
    now i am planning to work on MDM JAVA APIs by using Webdynpro for Java as UI.
    1) can you please share the required documents on the same. how to start working on this by using MDM JAVA APIs in webdynpro for java
    2) what are the JARs files are required and how to integrate those jar files into webdynpro for java application.
    3)  is there any SDN help on MDM JAVA API with webdynpro for java? . can you please send the link on the same.
    4) can you please help by providing sample code on how to use JAVA APIs for retrieving,deleting,inserting and Updating the data in the database.
    if anybody helps on the same then it is the great help to me.
    points are always rewardable...
    Regards
    Suresh babu

    Hi Suresh,
    You can have the MDM JAVA API javadocs from the link
    http://help.sap.com/javadocs/MDM/SP06P2/index.html
    There you can see a package named com.sap.mdm.examples.The classes in it contains some examples using which you can start understanding the code.
    You need to have MDM JAR files for it. And these JAR files to be used at build time can be added to the project thru :-
    Right click on project-> properties->Java Build Path - > Add external JARs
    At run time you can add them the reference in
    Right click on project-> properties->web dynpro references->library reference.
    Thanks

  • Any javadoc documentation available for Workflow Java API?

    Does anyone know if there is a "proper" Javadoc generated set of documentation for the Workflow Java API. The supplied html/pdf documentation describing the Java API has lots of omissions (eg, the getItemAttributes method returns an instance of WFTwoDDataSource - but where is the WFTwoDDataSource documented and how should I use the methods in that class?) I've tried loading some of the undocumented class definitions into a class browser, but the class methods have unhelpful parameter names like 'param1', which doesn't help in understanding how some of the classes and their methods should be used. I've tried searching technet and metalink for more specific documentation without success. If anyone can point me at a more useful set of documentation for the class hierarchies and their methods, it would be much appreciated.
    Thanks

    Hello,

  • Calling java APIs from a function module

    Hi,
    Can someone tell me whether it is possible to call Java APIs from a function module in SAP system?
    Thanks in advance,
    Vineetha

    Hi,
    I guess you have changed the properties of screen only.
    I assume you have made a Ztransaction Code.
    When you define a transaction code, you need to specify a screen number for radio option program and screen and you need to specify a screen and not subscreen.( I think so!!)
    You changed only the code without changing the transaction code properties.
    Therefore, i think u r getting a dump.
    If you want to call your subscreen, call it in some screen and then call that screen using your transaction code properties.
    To include a subscreen screen in the subscreen area of the main screen and call its PBO flow logic, use the following statement in the PBO event of the main screen:
    PROCESS BEFORE OUTPUT.
      CALL SUBSCREEN <area> INCLUDING <prog> <dynp>.
    To call the PAI flow logic of the subscreen screen, use the following statement in the PAI flow logic of the main screen:
    PROCESS AFTER INPUT.
    CALL SUBSCREEN <area>.

  • Extracting specific detial about class from the JAVA API created by Javadoc

    hi ,
    Bacialy I need to get detials of all classes from the Java packages for my project. So i thought getting detials from the Java API document might be one way of doing it. If any one tell me some package or software which can get particulat text from the API document that will be great.
    Thank you,
    Raj

    Hi,
    I think, much easier way would be to write a little doclet. That doclet would take the information you need directly from the Doclet API and generate by it a plain text with the content you wish (for instance, as an SQL script that loads everything into a certain database).
    Obtaining this from the generated HTML documentation just adds one extra step (and a lot more complicated, by the way).
    Also, you can avoid even writing a doclet.
    There is a tool called DocFlex/Javadoc:
    http://www.filigris.com/products/docflex_javadoc/
    It is a template-driven doclet, which can be easily programmed to do the job. (However, a license will be needed).

  • Java API - Urgent!!!!

    Expensive Friends,
    I am with some problems in the development of a solution to capture native events of a cellular telephone... Would like that somebody me of this a light, or same indicated a full bibliography (sites, books, codes of example) for use of a API in Java that can make called the telephony functions the cellular one, as to capture events of beginning and end of calls, events of reception of calls, capture of mobile contacts, etc....Eu knows that some devices GSM use the Symbian, but I would like to know exactly I have possibilities of J2ME MIDP 1,0 (and posterior) and CLDC 1,0 (and posterior) to work direct with them without that he needs to program direct in the Symbian.

    Hello
    We have read installation guide "SAP Netweaver MDM 5.5 SP05", page 22, we want install MDM Connector and MDM Java API, in "installation procedure", it is indicate
    1. Extract the files from the archives.
    The javadoc folders contain an HTMLbased
    collection of documents that
    describe the Java API. Make sure you
    retain the directory structure.
    2. Deploy the SDA files on Web AS
    Java using the Software Deployment
    Manager (SDM). MDM Connector uses
    the mdm4j library as a shared library to
    support generic connection.
    3. Store the JAR files at the standard
    location for the application that uses
    them.
    4. Include the path to the JAR files in
    the class path for the application that
    uses them. This may be an
    environment variable, a command line
    argument, or an application
    configuration parameter.
    Only we are clear point 2, but rest, we are not sure, please could you clear us it ???
    Thanks

  • Linking Java Api

    I wish to make my java documentation linked to the java 1.5.0 documentation.
    I am using Javadoc 1.5.0 I also use IE6.0
    The command line has this option:
    -link http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.5.0/docs/api
    This should make the Java Classes linked by reference to my javadocs for my code.
    When I click on one of these links I get an error: "Permision Denied..<the url of the Java Api Class Doc>" followed by a "access denied.. <the url of the Java Api Class Doc>"
    Looks like there is some javascript or something preventing this from functioning properly. I put http://java.sun.com/ in my trusted sites list. Lowered security to a min. No effect.
    I searched for a post on the forum like this. There doesn't appear to be one. If there is a post, I apologize in advance. Hopefully someone can help me.

    You may want to check your show() calls and see if
    they can be replaced with setVisible(). Forexample,
    in your Vowelm code, you have a static JFrame v.
    At
    the end of your main function, you use v.show().As
    of JDK1.1, this has been deprecated in favour of
    setVisible(boolean).hey show() in JFrame is from Window and in windowits
    not deprecated ..
    show is not decrecated thats for sure ... i dontknow
    y you said that ...
    you can look in docs as well..
    True - but this in turn overrides show() from
    java.awt.Component, which has been deprecated. My
    guess is that's where the problem comes from.
    Thanks for the Dukes!
    FlicAnd then again - perhaps not. After looking into this a bit more, I take back my last comment about the Component override. However, as I said in my original reply, compiling with -deprecation should tell you which show() call is flagging the error. There is definitely one somewhere that the JVM doesn't like - without seeing your complete code, it's hard to say exactly where. Based on what you've posted, my guess is that it is within the Vowelm class.
    Next time, I'll try to avoid 'shooting from the hip'.
    Again, thanks for the Dukes,
    Flic

  • Reg: Java API

    Hi all,
    I am implementing webdynpro with MDM. To start with it i need to include jar files only or anything else is needed.
    Regards,
    Jyothi
    Edited by: jyothi beera on Feb 12, 2009 11:58 AM

    Hi jyothi ,
    To work with Webdynpro java and MDM system you will need to MDM java api files .
    These MDM Java Apis contain all the functions and methods to work with the Master data in MDM.through your webdynpro screens.
    You will need to MDM Jar files to be deployed on your Web application server and NWDS to work with them.
    All you need to so is make sure that you are deploying the correct jar files matching with your mdm server version else you might face errors  laters.
    Uptill the SP05 version of MDM the apis were available as MDM4J.jar files but from the MDM SP06 version onwards they are the MDM JAVAP API.jar file.This file contains all the jars needed to work with MDM.
    To know the compatible java apis to work with kindly follow the belwo link:

  • Java API to read the Encrypted Values from Windows Registry settings

    Is there any Java API to read the Encrypted Values from Windows Registry settings ?
    My Java Application invokes a 3rd party Tool that writes the key/value to windows registry settings under : “HKLM\Software\<3rdparty>\dataValue”.
    This entry is in BINARY and encrypted with 3DES, using crypto API from Microsoft.
    3rd party software to encrypt the data stored in registry it
    either uses C++ code: and uses the call “CryptProtectData” and “CryptUnProtectData” or
    If it is a .NET (C#) it uses the call “Protect” or “UnProtect” from class “ProtectData” of WinCrypt.h from the library “Crypt32.lib.
    Note: The data is encrypted using auto-generated machinekey and there is no public key shared to decrypt the Encrypted data.
    Since the data is encrypted using auto-generated machinekey the same can be decrypted from a .Net / C++ application using CryptUnprotectData or UnProtect() API of WinCrypt.h from the library “Crypt32.lib.
    To know more about Auto-Generated MachineKey in Windows refer the links below
    http://aspnetresources.com/tools/machineKey
    http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms998288.aspx
    I need to find a way in Java to find the equivalent API to decrypt (CryptUnprotectData) and Microsoft will automatically use the correct key.
    But i couldn't find any informato related to Java APIs to enrypt or decrypt data using auto-generated machinekey.
    Is there a way to read the encrypted data from Windows regsitry settings that is encrypted using the Auto-Generated Machine Key ?
    Kindly let me know if Java provides any such API or mechanism for this.

    If the symmetric key is "auto-generated" and is not being stored anywhere on the machine, it implies that the key is being regenerated based on known values on the machine. This is the same principle in generating 3DES keys using PBE (password-based-encryption). I would review the documentation on the C# side, figure out the algorithm or "seed" values being used by the algorithm, and then attempt to use the JCE to derive the 3DES key using PBE; you will need to provide the known values as parameters to the PBE key-generation function in JCE. Once derived, it can be used to decrypt the ciphertext from the Regiistry in exactly the same way as the CAPI/CNG framework.
    An alternate way for Java to use this key, is to write a JNI library that will call the native Windows code to do the decryption; then the Java program does not need to know details about the key.
    That said, there is a risk that if your code can derive the key based on known seeds, then so can an attacker. I don't know what your applicatiion is doing, but if this is anything related to compliance for some data-security regulation like PCI-DSS, then you will fail the audit (for being unable to prove you have adequate controls on the symmetric key) if a knowledgable QSA probes this design.

  • Invalid Argument Exception on Java API's DB Close

    When closing the database via the Java API's close method, I am getting an invalid argument exception... how can this be fixed... subsequent access to the DB causes the JVM to crash??

    I had the same problem. I could fix it by carefully calling the delete() function on all those DBXML Xml..xyz objects that you create when you perform queries etc. It seems that those Java objects have some 'shadow' object in the underlying DLL and by calling delete() you free resources that remain otherwise assigned (maybe somebody with a C++ background who programmed this stuff?). Call delete() before the Java object gets out of scope. For instance:
    results = mgr.query(collection,context,null);
    XmlValue value;
    try {
    while ((value = results.next()) != null) {
    XmlValue c = value.getFirstChild();
    String ref = c.getNodeValue();
    c.delete(); c = null;
    value.delete(); value = null;
    catch (Exception e) {
    finally {
    if (results != null) {
    results.delete();
    results = null;
    Once i did this on all possible dbxml objects i used in my code, the java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Invalid argument disappeared.

  • How to find bpel instance in 11g based on the index values using Java APIs

    Hi ,
    In SOA10G we had option to find the instances based on the index value using Java APIs like below.
    WhereCondition criteria= new WhereCondition(SQLDefs.CX_index_1 + " = ?");
    criteria.setString(1, "indexValue");
    Locator mLoc = getLocator();
    IInstanceHandle[] foundInstances = mLoc.listInstancesByIndex(criteria);
    Please tell me how to achieve the same functionality in SOA 11G using Java APIs
    Regards,

    I have multiple bpel in my composite. I checked in ci_indexes table and it shows the instance number of the bpel process. But the em console is showing only the composite instance number. when I opened composite instance, I could see all the bpel process with instance number in the audit trail. How can I find the the actual composite instance number that I should search for in the em console ???

  • How can I create a new User with the Java API like OIDDAS do?

    Hello,
    I'm currently working on an BPEL based process. And i need to create an OCS user. So far I can create an user in the OID. But I cant find any documentation about given this user an email account,calendar and content function etc.
    Did anybody know if there are some OIDDAS Webservices? Or did anybody know how to do this using the Java APIs?

    You are asking about a Database User I hope.
    You can look into the Oracle 8i Documentation and find various privillages listed.
    In particular, you may find:
    Chapter 27 Privileges, Roles, and Security Policies
    an intresting chapter.
    You may want to do this with the various tools included with 8i - including the
    Oracle DBA Studio - expand the Security node and you can create USERS and ROLES.
    Or use SQL*Plus. To create a
    user / password named John / Smith, you would login to SQL*Plus as System/manager (or other) and type in:
    Create user John identified by Smith;
    Grant CONNECT to John;
    Grant SELECT ANY TABLE to John;
    commit;
    There is much more you can do
    depending on your needs.
    Please read the documentation.

    The IAS product contains two Java Virtual Machines (JVM) within it's
    architecture.
    They are called :
    1) APACHE JSERV servlet engine
    2) ORACLE ENTERPRISE JAVA ENGINE (EJE)
    APACHE JSERV servlet engine
    The APACHE JSERV servlet engine is an EXISTING product licensed from the
    apache group which supports the servlet api 2.0.ONLY.
    The APACHE JSERV product does not support ANY JSP's unless the customer
    installs a third party jsp engine.
    The IAS 8i/9i which has the APACHE JSERV product embedded in it, comes with
    Oracle's JSP engine (OJSP) already integrated into it. OJSP supports JSP's up
    to the specific JSP engine version documented in the Oracle Universal
    Installer (OUI) for the 8.1.7 RDBMS or the IAS products. It is also documented
    in the product's release notes.
    Oracle ENTERPRISE JAVA ENGINE (EJE)
    The EJE formerly known as :
    1) Oracle 8i Java Virtual Machine (JVM)
    2) JSERVER component,
    3) Aurora JVM
    was originally releas ed in the RDBMS 8.1.5 database with jdk 1.1.6 based java
    support.
    The currently supported versions of the Oracle 8i RDBMS, versions 2 and 3,
    also known as Version 8.1.6 and 8.1.7, respectively, provides a jdk 1.2.1
    based java virtual machine support.
    "EJE" Version 816
    This EJE, found in rdbms 8.1.6 and IAS 8i, contains support for the ejb
    api 1.0, corba, and java stored procedures.
    "EJE" Version 817
    This EJE, found in rdbms 8.1.7 and IAS 9i, contains support for the ejb,
    corba, and java stored procedures as well as the Oracle Servlet Engine (OSE)
    which provides support for the servlets 2.2 api and JSP 1.1 api.
    Note :
    EJB support in the "EJE" Version 817 has been upgraded to comply with the EJB
    1.1 api specification which includes "entity beans" support.
    What is the bottom line ??
    1) Servlets deployed to the APACHE JSERV must comply with servlet api 2.0.
    2) Servlets 2.1 or higher are only supported in EJE's OSE component found in
    the rdbms 817 or ias 9i products. Servlets api 2.0 can also run in the OSE.

    which jvm is used by jserv ?? EJE or a separate jdk ?
    The Jserv servlet engine is running in a separate jdk JVM external to the EJE jvm which is embedded within the "database" component of ias and the RDBMS.
    See the reference below for more details ...
    if jserv only support old apis, why it is in oracle's products ?
    i would assume that the oracle servlet engine was under development when ias 8i was released and became available in time for the ias 9i and rdbms 817 products.
    looking back in history leads me to believe ias 8i was a migration path to get to ias 9i or rdbms 817.
    Based upon the long history of new releases of every oracle product being upgraded with new features, it's reasonable to assume that these products will continue to evolve.
    when I deploy a jsp how to deploy in the right servlet container ("EJE") ?
    as documented in the reference below, you can deploy JSP's to either the apache jserv jvm or the EJE since the ORACLE JSP engine functionality is in both jvm's.
    there are many posts where you can see that people have deploy in jserv and they have problems because they don't use the right container (servlet 2.0 instead of
    servlet 2.2) http://technet.oracle.com:89/ubb/Forum2/HTML/006349.html
    when ias 8i came out this was clearly an issue since servlet support was at api 2.0, and the current servlet api was probably at 2.1.
    oracle clearly made every effort to get ias 9i released quickly to supply a servlet 2.1 and 2.2 capable engine to resolve this issue.
    since ias 9i and rdbms 8.1.7 are available this is no longer an issue.
    The reference below explains the architecture and understanding it would eliminate a lot of "deploy to the wrong ias 9i component" issues.
    so why jserv is bundled with oracle 8i/9ias since EJE support the right api version ?
    if in ias 9i release , oracle had removed the jserv component without any advance warning, many customers would have been very upset since oracle makes every attempt to give advance notice before removal of functionality.

I have referred to the earlier posting in this forum for the same problem I am not able to add images into Catalog thru java API. However I am working on SP3 version of MDM software and looks like the Images table structure changed a bit and the code in the earlier posting isn't working.
    I am getting an error code <b>-5586944</b> and the message that gets printed on the console is
    <i>a2i.core.StringException: AddRecord error
         at a2i.common.CatalogData.AddRecord(Unknown Source)
         at a2i.common.CatalogData.AddRecord(Unknown Source)</i>
    Here is the code that I am using to upload the image
    String filePath = "C:\temp\Sunset.jpg";
    File file = new File(filePath);
    byte[] bytes = new byte[(int) file.length()];
    try{
         //read byte from file, and set the large data
         FileInputStream inputStream = new FileInputStream(file);
         inputStream.read(bytes);
         mdmFields.Add(new A2iField("Data ID", new Value(bytes)));
    }catch(IOException ioex){
         ioex.printStackTrace();
    int dataGroupId = 0;//Hardcoded it to 0. There is one group already in the repository
    mdmFields.Add(new A2iField("Data Group ID", new Value(dataGroupId)));
    //adding the name
    mdmFields.Add(new A2iField("Name", new Value(file.getName())));
    mdmFields.Add(new A2iField("Original Name", new Value(file.getName())));
    //adding OrigLocationId
    int origLocationId =0;
    try{
         origLocationId = catalog.AddDataLocation(filePath, 0, DataLocationType.ComputerLocation);
         System.out.println("Location id generated is " +origLocationId);
    }catch(StringException ex){
         System.out.println("Error while generating the location id");
         ex.printStackTrace();
    mdmFields.Add(new A2iField("Original Location ID", new Value(origLocationId)));
    try {
         //adding the image to the "Images" table
         int newImageId = catalog.AddRecord("Images", mdmFields, 0, 0);
    } catch (StringException e) {
         // TODO Auto-generated catch block
         System.out.println("Error while adding the image record " + e.GetErrorCode() + "  " + e.GetRCMessage(e.GetErrorCode()));
         e.printStackTrace();
    I am not able to figure out what is causing the problem. Any ideas would be greatly helpful. Thanks in advance.
    Suman.

    Hi Mausam,
    Thanks for your help. However, the problem doesn't seem to be going.
    I printed the records in the <b>Data Groups</b> table using a program to find the record ids that are already existing. My Data Groups table has 3 records. Here are the values.
    ID :1 Value :MyGroup
    ID :2 Value :Group2
    ID :3 Value :Group3
    I tried passing all the above 3 values (1,2,3) as input to the <b>Data Group ID</b> field. However, this time, I am getting a different error code this time
    Error while adding the image record -2147483647  No message for RC (0x80000001)
    a2i.core.StringException: AddRecord error
         at a2i.common.CatalogData.AddRecord(Unknown Source)
         at a2i.common.CatalogData.AddRecord(Unknown Source)
         at images.MyImageUpload.uploadImage(MyImageUpload.java:82)
    The error code <b>2147483647</b>  from the javadocs says <b>RC_BADPARAM</b>. Not able to figure out what exactly is causing the problem with Data Group ID.
    Any ideas or pointers to solve this would be greatly helpful. Thanks in advance.
    Regards
    Suman
