Java Applet not initiating
I'm new to Java and have been going through the SAMS "Teach Yourself Java 2" and have a problem will Applets. I am using the latest download of Java2SE (J2sdk1.4.2_09) and NetBeans IDE.
Creating Java programs works fine but when I do the exercise for Applets called "Palindrome" project, it fails. I embed the <APPLET> tag in my HTML a couple different ways laid out in the text but all fails. I doing this without the Internet. Is there something special that I need to do to get this to work with the generated palindrome.class on my hard drive.
I did make some changes to my computer's Internet settings based on an FAQ I saw on the Sun site - Proxy_Server - localhost. But this did not solve my problem.
I would appreciate any suggestions on how I might further investigate this - I'm sure I have something set wrong and just need some more test options to identify the problem.
Your assistance is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Don
I checked the Browser VM and it shows the same as the one in the Java Plug-in control panel but I continue to get the same error. Can anyone with some Java experience identify the problem from this error code:

Java Applet not Initializing (LMS)
Hello everyone,
I have a small problem when trying to access a Java applet screen. When I open the applet, there are two different portions of the screen, a left window and a right window. In the left window, there is a caption at the top that says "LMS Initializing". There is supposed to be a list of hyperlinks that populate in the window, but they never do. It hangs on the LMS.
What is LMS? Something is blocking it's initialization. I have checked the manage add-ons menu and verified that the Java is plugged into IE, but I cannot seem to figure out the issue.
I do know of the following issues as well, and I have verified that they are not the problem here:
*Popup blockers
*IE security settings under the "Security" tab in Internet Options
*Secure Socket Layers
If anyone else can give me a boost here, I would appreciate it. Thanks!did you restart the forms server with the command.

Chat applet not initialized???
OS X on iMac...try to log in yahoo Chat but I get an error message " applet not initialized " I check every HELP suggestion but none will do nor does it properly address the issue. How does one initialize applet? Some say uninstall Java then re-install but OS X doesn't allow me to uninstall JAVA which came preinstalled. The funny thing is that the bottom portion of the yahoo chat site works but the chat area is blank.
Can anyone help? .Mac support guys are useless they only want money! they will not offer any assistance until a payment is made. Even then they can't guarantee anything. can anyone help me? I want to CHAT ON YAHOO.
David no say in yahoo.Example settings for chat, based on Safari browser:
In Safari, select Preferences > Security > Web Content. Make sure the three check boxes pertaining to Java - "Enable Plugins", "Enable Java" and "Enable JavaScript" are active.
Some web chat providers also require that you install their client software.
Having never used such services, I do not know if this applies to Yahoo, or if they provide suitable client software for Mac OS X users. -

Java applet not working savevid keepvid
Hi all,
I'm sure I'm not the only one who has been confounded by Java applets not working in certain download web services; in my case, keepvid.com and savevid.com to download copies of youtube videos. It has been a huge headache and even debilitating in my case. I teach film and video to middle schoolers, and we often use youtube as a resource for our class projects.
I found a solution today, I think, and wanted to share it:
I installed the browser called "Torch" and it seems to work fine, so far.thanx 4 replying
using the browser to view Applet is not recomended that is because if u change the the source-code and recompile the applet then run it using the broswer it will run the old-version
Also i've found the solution here

Java Applets not running in Any browser
Hi,
I have JRE / JSE (1.6.17) installed on a windows 7, 32 bit Intel Machine.
I am able to do all the programming and stuff (in Java), but when i try to open a web page with a Java Applet, it just does not show.
The page gives a message saying that an additional plugin is required.
I tried, Google Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer...all have the same problem.
The environment variables are correctly set.
This is something completely new for me, so would appreciate some helpActually i think its more related to JRE.
I was actually referring to general applet loading.
I cannot open any applet in any browser. -
Java Applets not working using IE 6 after uninstalling software
I uninstalled some software on WinXP using Add/Remove, however the software still left remnants on my system. I tried to removing all the entries in the registry with RegEdit....I will confess I am a rookie with that tool, however now IE 6 will not launch Java Applets on the web sites I visit.
I also have Mozilla Firefox 8 installed and Java Applets work fine using that browser. Do I have to reinstall WinXP to correct IE 6, or is there an easier alternative?
Thanks for any suggestions
GerryPlease check out in the IE Explorer Tools--> Internet Options --> in this Advanced tab this will display you with the set of options and chceck boxes...
in that please check out that whether the Java(SUN) --- (USe Java....<applet> Requires reStart...
is existing or not if existing please check it and restart the system.
if it is not existing in your broser then you have to install the JRE in the system for your Applet to work..
That can be downloaded form...

Java Applets not working with Firefox 5 properly
Java Applets work sometime. But after sometime the Java icon at the bottom (near date & time) disappears. After this no matter what I do it does not work. Java Applets are used in this case to draw charts. The same charts come out properly in Internet Explorer. But I prefer using Firefox for its speed. What is the reason for this problem ?
-> Tap ALT key or press F10 to show the Menu Bar
-> go to Help Menu -> select "Restart with Add-ons Disabled"
Firefox will close then it will open up with just basic Firefox. Now do this:
-> Update ALL your Firefox Plug-ins https://www.mozilla.com/en-US/plugincheck/
-> go to View Menu -> Toolbars -> unselect All Unwanted toolbars
-> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Content -> place Checkmarks on:
1) Block Pop-up windows 2) Load images automatically 3) Enable JavaScript
-> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Privacy -> History section -> ''Firefox will: '''select "Remember History"'''''
-> go to Tools Menu -> Options -> Security -> place Checkmarks on:
1) Warn me when sites try to install add-ons 2) Block reported attack sites 3) Block reported web forgeries 4) Remember Passwords for sites
-> Click OK on Options window
-> click the Favicon (small drop down menu icon) on Firefox SearchBar (its position is on the Right side of the Address Bar) -> click "Manage Search Engines" -> select all Unwanted Search Engines and click Remove -> click OK
-> go to Tools Menu -> Add-ons -> Extensions section -> REMOVE All Unwanted/Suspicious Extensions (Add-ons) -> Restart Firefox
You can enable your Known & Trustworthy Add-ons later. Check and tell if its working. -

Java Applet not displaying in Internet Explorer Options
For some reason my Internet Explorer browser is refusing to use Java. I've installed IE 8 and reinstalled the Java application, yet when I go to check the IE Options, the Java Applet does not even display as a selectable option. It works just fine in Firefox, which is what baffles me. As a direct result of this, my Java Desktop applications aren't working properly either. I have one that creates custom playing cards and I can change the backgrounds and view all my cards, but it will not save the information, an error of which I believe to be related to how Java isn't working with IE 8.
Any ideas? I've made sure that my virus protection is up to date. I'm at my wits end.I'm having this exact or a very similar issue on Windows 7 Home Premium (64 bit) laptop with JRE 1.6.0_17

And, in the Java control panel advanced default browser for Java, the IE is checked but greyed out. Same thing here
Only thing I can think of is that I've installed both the 32 bit and 64 bit JRE on this machine so I can have Java on both IE 32 bit an IE 64 bit.
Mght that come into play here? -
