Java application in websites

Hello,
I have a simple standalone java application, i would like to present it as a website i.e. I want my application in a website.
I have done some web designing a few years ago, but I havent embed java in a web page. What are different ways of doing this? what do developers normally use to put their java application on to a website?
I am a beginner to this so I will need something very simple.
Thanks

The only way to embed Java in a website is to write an applet. This whole "put your app on a website" thing is a bit of an oddity - what do you mean, exactly? I can't remember ever writing an app, and then deciding to "put it on a website".

  • Closing the IE browser thro' Java application

    Hi,
    I have a requirement wherein I have to close the applications launched like (Internet exploer window) thro my java application.
    Can anyone help me on this?
    I tried using Runtime class Process.destroy( ) method. But still not able to find the exact one.
    Thanks.

    maybe this is because the code did not create the process directly, ao destory() method doesn't work as expected.
    Process ps = Runtime.getRuntime().exec("rundll32 url.dll,FileProtocolHandler " + "my website open here")
    maybe ps not reference to the process create by rundll32
    then there is no way to close a browser directly from java application?

    How do i Hyperlink to a web page from a java application using internet explorer as my default web browser?

    It's very simple.You can start any Application with the class Runtime. The command is an array consisting of the path of .exe and the file to be open.
    String [] cmd={path of IE+Filename.exe,"URL of your website"}
    try
    Runtime.getRuntime().exec(cmd);
    catch (Exception e)
    System.err.println(e.toString());
    }

  • To launch a java application in Windows environment

    hello,
    I need to distribute one stand alone application, that I made using NetBeans, for sale it.
    I know that this is not a so simple problem, because delivering the program to one client you cannot simlpy say him to launch the jar file....
    I saw that, in the Windows environment, program like eclipse or netBeans run thruogth an .exe file, that I think is a program that its purpose is to define the java environment for the application in the particular host operative environment .
    Perhaps they are corporations like InstallShield (now Macrovision) that sale programs to solve this type of problems..., and I already used this type of programs to install some my
    applications that I coded in languages different than java.
    But before to look for one of them, I should like have more informations how this problem fits in java language, knowing that java is different to other languages because use JRE and have proper tools, how JWS and JNPL, that concern with this problem.
    ...Looking in the forum I had not much help..., but I saw that someone uses to write launchers program in different language, like C, as well I had not so much detailled instructions about how to do it.
    In order to solve my problem I should like have, from some one that already made it, some general information about how he realized the commercial installation of java applications in the most used Operatve Systems (particullary Windows), and possibly to have links to web sites for good explanations, including advantages to buy apposite commercials installation programs too.
    thank you very much
    tonyMrsangelo

    You can distribute it as an executable JAR so users will run it by double clicking. The would be required to have JRE installed.
    You can distribute it online via WebStart. Users need JRE but it's easier to manage updates and distribution of new versions.
    You can distribute it with AjaxSwing, a product that deploys Swing applications as AJAX websites so you don't need JRE at all.
    You can create EXE files using many of the products available. Google for it and you'll get lots of hits.

  • How to open JSP session from a java application or an applet?

    Hi,
    My problem is a bit challenging (at least for me) and its not about JSP but it is about a web application..
    I couldnt find a better place to post this question I am sorry if this is not the right place to post it..
    I need to enable users log into my website by checking username and password and reading and checking the data from a usb device located in client computer.
    I can read from the device thorough JNI using the third party DLL file for the device... I have no problem with that..
    Since I need to make native calls I am planning to develop a java application so I let the users open the application using web start.. Once my application is running on client side after reading the device and getting login password information (assuming login information correct), How can I open a web session for the that spesific user and a web browser and let the user browse the web site on his/her own session?
    I would appreciate any guidance..
    Thanks..

    What error indications do you get? You have to enable error logging in the Java Control Panel to see the details.

  • Tool for building a java application's installer

    I'm searching for a tool for creating an installer for a java application. Just found InstallAnywhere... It looks very attractive, but it costs... was wondering if is there anything free.

    Well to be brutally honest, I think you'd be better off sticking with Flash if this is a critical project... it would be a great exercise for learning Java, but would probably take w-a-y-y-y-y-y more effort than doing a similar multimedia presentation in flash.
    (I haven't used Director, so can only talk about Flash here) - as you know, Flash is really a very powerful authoring tool that allows the user to do very complex animations very easily, whereas Java is a lower-level programming language that is infinitely more flexible, but comparatively more developer-intensive when it comes to producing user interface stuff. Java might be a viable option if you have to do stuff that flash can't, like very complex interactivity, or pulling info from a database etc (although maybe Flash 5 can even talk to databases now??? I don't know)
    You can get tools to help you build Java user interfaces using "drag & drop" methods, and these tools will automatically generate the code for you, but (a) this means you're not really learning java, and (b) flash would still be less labor-intensive (and probably more impressive to your end users)
    In summary - I'm not knocking Java or Flash - I love 'em both; it's just that Flash is better suited for certain things, and Java is better suited for others...
    PS - nice website, but Portfolios shouldn't have an apostrophe before the "s" ;-)

    The best place to ask your question is at the JSMS website, forum or mailing list since this is no error that directly comes from a class belonging to the core Java classes.

  • SENDING RINGTONES VIA JAVA APPLICATIONS

    Greetings,
    I am developing a Java application which would send ringtones to any mobile phone anywhere in the world. I composed the ringtones using an application called NokRing and have them stored in my hard disk in .wav format.
    How do I go about the whole process? What all would I be needing for the whole sending process to work? Where can I get more info about this?
    I am currently based in New Delhi- India and hold an Essar card (Essar is one of the mobile service providers in New Delhi).
    By the way this second question might seem out of place here but I dont know of any other forum where this question would be appropriate. WHAT IS AN SMS SERVER? Would I be required to buy an SMS server for my aforementioned Java application?
    If it helps I have a Windows 2000 professional edition and Apache and Cocoon (latest) installed and configured.
    Eagerly waiting for an early response.
    SNODX
    [email protected]
    NOTE: I first tried to locate a website that would send ringtones free of cost, to atleast get an experience on sending ringtones. But I couldnt find any site that offers free ringtones for New Delhi- India

    OK then atleast tell me how do I send a ringtone to my own mobile (the ones which I have stored in my local hard disk in .wav format)?As far I knowt here is three ways to transfer ring tones to ur cell phone
    *directly from a Cell phones related web sites,which is approved by your Service provider.
    * from your friends cell phone to yours via SMS
    *or you must be having a SIM card reader thru which you may be able to store ring tones in ur SIM card.
    There is a SIM card reader available for $199.
    For more details ,visit this link:

    Also I would like to know what exactly is an SMS server *Sorry I dont have any idea about SMS Server.

  • Error while running Java application using Crystal Reports 2011

    Hello,
    I would like to ask for your help.
    Environment details:
    Java based standalone application in Development environment.
    Crystal Reports 2011 (no SP applied)
    Oracle 11g ( 32 bit client installed)
    Win7 64 bit OS.
    Workflow:
    While running the java application, which will display the reports I am getting the below mentioned error. I guess that is because I am missing the Crystal runtimes (Correct me if I am wrong).
    I know that CR2011 do not have any sdks/ jar available for deployment. In this case, which runtimes should I be using? Does installing CR2011 be enough in the development box?
    Please provide me the link from which I can download the same.
    Let me know if I need to provide more details on this. Any suggestions are most welcome.
    Thank You.
