Java connection - no application name in sp_iqshowpsexe

We have Java connection to IQ 15.4.
sp_iqshowpsexe 13386, under application column, it has
HOST=appdb1p.nam.nsroot.net
Is there a proper way put logic to Java Code, so we can identify the Java application name?
For example, with Windows dbisql; it is reported back.
HOST=VDI;EXE=C:\sybase\iq154\...\dbisql.exe;

You can use the APPLICATIONNAME property on the JDBC connection URL to set the value.  This property is documented at:
SyBooks Online
For example:  jdbc:sybase:Tds:myhostname:portnum/mydb?APPLICATIONNAME=OurJavaAppName

  • CR for VS, MSSQL, ConnectionInfo and "Application Name" in connection string

    I'm using Crystal Reports for Visual Studio 2013, latest version. I'm using the web CrystalReportViewer component. I'm setting the connection information, something like this:
    var tables = rpt.Database.Tables;
    foreach (Table table in tables)
        var tableLogonInfo = table.LogOnInfo;
        tableLogonInfo.ConnectionInfo = connectionInfo;
        table.ApplyLogOnInfo(tableLogonInfo);
    When the connection to the database is opened, the "Application Name" (which you can see with sp_who2 in MS SQL Server) is "Internet Information Services". I'd like it to be something else, like the name of my website or something similar. If I could specify the exact connection string, I could do this by including "Application Name=MyWebSite" in the connection string, but of course that isn't possible (right?).
    Does anyone know of a way to set the CrystalReportViewer's connection's Application Name?
    Thanks.
    Dan

    The name of the physical executable that created the connection is (generally) automatically used to populate the PROGRAM column of the V$SESSION table.
    If you want a more human-readable application name or if you have multiple applications in the same application server, you can use the DBMS_APPLICATION_INFO package to set the CLIENT_INFO, MODULE, and ACTION columns of V$SESSION for this particular session once you've created your connection.

  • Why is my application name not showing up in the SQL Server connection properties?

    If I understand correctly I should be able to have the application name from application.cfc show up in my SQL Server connection string (i.e. in the program_name column of sp_who2) if I go in to the DSN advanced settings and check "Application Name" under Client Settings.
    However having done that I still don't see anything in the program name columns of the sp_who2 result set. Any ideas?
    Thanks!

    I drew my shape, then went to the GRADIENT panel and clicked in the default gradient box to apply the default white to black gradient.  Normally you can click on either color to change it using the ways I described in my original post but those are not available to me.  The only way I could add a color was to drag it from the SWATCHES panel into the gradient colors slider.
    This means that I cannot make changes to colors directly in the gradient panel like before.  I have to make changes to the individual colors but clicking on the color in the gradient slider then going to the COLOR panel and adjusting the color there. Or by dragging in a whole new color from the COLOR or SWATCHES panels.  This is really killing my work flow.

  • Change application name in itunes connect

    Sir
    How can i change application name in itunes connect without using add version option.

    Keeping in mush-mind that rumors here get squashed like slugs on an expressway - and that visibility in the app store is key...
    Apple has supposedly been looking at redoing categories in the app store in an effort to better help customers browse titles/topics more logically...and to help large commercial clients with more of the general spotlight. As things stand now, it is supposedly less likely for prominent commercial apps to be spotted while floating in a sea of non-commercial (read potentially frivolous) apps.
    Another motive may be that some devs/sellers intentionally mis-categorize an app just to be able to participate (read 'sell') in a group where the outright competition is lower and general visibility can be easier to attain.
    Also, with the recent change that now provides for content rating by the author, Apple may be ready to apply those ratings as part of an overall category change as well...an example would be where 'Honda Civic Summer Beach Girls Slideshow' is part of the general 'Photography' category, it may instead be moved to a viewer restricted 'Entertainment' category.

  • Identifying connection/datasource by application name, machine and user

    Hi,
    I am implementing a Java app to gather few connection related statistics. As part of this, in the JDBC layer, I want to identify the connection by app name, os/app user and client's machine name. I searched for all the ways an oracle app would set these attributes. I have some queries around them, will be grateful if somone can respond and clarify them. Here are my findings/observations
    *1. DataSource.setConnectionProperties() with v$session param and values for program, osuser, machine*
    It appears setting the v$session.program, v$session.osuser and v$session.machine on datasource is a preferred way to set the client information for v10.2 and higher. Is my assumption that this is the predominant/preferred way oracle apps would set the client information valid ?
         Properties props = new Properties();
         props.put("v$session.program", "OracleApp");
         props.put("v$session.osuser", "human");
         props.put("v$session.machine", "dale");
         ds.setConnectionProperties(props);*2. OracleConnection.setClientData() with key-value*
    There is a method setClientData but available only with OracleConnection as class referrence (needs cast). It seems to be a deprecated in 10g. Does anyone know why is this deprecated and replaced by what ? Hope it is not deprecated due to JDBC 4.0 spec, which is not supported by Oracle
         OracleConnection conn_ = (OracleConnection) con;
         conn_.setClientData("ApplicationName", "OracleApp");
         conn_.setClientData("ClientHostname", "dale");
         conn_.setClientData("ClientUser", "human");*3. Connection.setClientInfo() with ApplicationName, ClientHostname, ClientUser*
    Apparently, JDBC 4.0 has exposed api-s to set/get clientInfo values that I am looking for. But surprisingly, oracle doesn't seem to have correctly implemented these methods. I get SQLClientInfoException for the above values and when I do DatabaseMetaData.getClientInfoProperties I get empty Properties object. Does this indicate 0 keys are supported ? Or is there any special setting/configuration I have to executed to allow setting of keys?
         ResultSet clientInfoProperties = con.getMetaData().getClientInfoProperties();
         while (clientInfoProperties.next()) { // next() returns false
              System.out.println(clientInfoProperties.getString(1));
         Properties properties = new Properties();
         properties.put("ApplicationName", "OracleApp");
         properties.put("ClientHostname", "dale");
         properties.put("ClientUser", "human");
         con.setClientInfo(properties);
         // throws java.sql.SQLClientInfoException and e.getFailedProperties() returns
         // {ClientUser=REASON_UNKNOWN, ApplicationName=REASON_UNKNOWN, ClientHostname=REASON_UNKNOWN}
         // and e.getMessage() returns Invalid or unsupported name for clientInfo.*4. Other ways to set/get client info using connection or datasource ?*
    Apart from the above, are there other ways to set/get client info on connection or datasource objects ? how do oracle apps in general handle this kind of need.
    If someone has some insight on my queries, will appreciate if you can spare some time replying to this thread.
    Thanks
    Rajesh

    bumping it up. Can anyone help ?

  • What is the application name when CMS connects to SQL server 2005

    Hi, We are BOXI R2 SP3. We have 3 servers with CMS installed on each. We have 3 separate web servers. When I monitor sessions in SQL server 2005 then I see 6 process. 2 process are from each processing servers but the application name for 2 servers ( 4 processes) are WIndows Installer-unicode and for third server its Business Objects Enterprise.
    I think all the env should be same in a cluster so not sure how to correct this issue.

  • SAP Java Connectivity Builder -NoClassDefFoundError com.sap.aii...Reference

    Hi there,
    I'm trying to generate Java Proxies for SAPJCO using the SAP Java Connectivity Builder (JCB). I got it from the NetWeaver 6.20 Release. The tool installs and runs properly but after putting in the connection properties and klicking "next", the application hangs. When activating System output, I get the error shown below.
    I already tried to put all jar files contained in the C:\JBuilder5\lib\ext directiry into the classpath (but none of them contains the class mentioned).
    Which is the right (standalone) tool for generating Java Proxies for a standalone Java application?
    If it is JCB, is there a bug on the version I use (NetWeaver Release 6.20)?
    Any help would be apreciated.

  • SSO Deployment-specific login - howto display application name

    I am deploying 4 forms applications using a single SSO server/OID for authentication. The problem is, I want to display the application name on login.jsp, depending on which application was requested.
    For example:
    If the URL is http://localhost/forms/frmservlet?config=app1, then login.jsp should display "App1".
    If the URL is http://localhost/forms/frmservlet?config=app2, then login.jsp should display "App2".
    ...... and so on. Has anyone ever done it before? I am using Oracle 10g Release 2.
    Thanks,
    Sanjay Gulabani

    Thanks to timktaylor's earlier post (messageid=1184036), I was able to solve this problem. I am using Oracle 10g (10.1.2.0.2) Single Sign On and Forms Services.
    For anyone who is facing a similar problem, I am pasting the code - just use it as it is in login.jsp - of course, you will need to change app1 and "APP 1" etc to suit your application names.

  • Oracle java connection

    Hi,
    I've a problem in the connection between a
    Oracle DBMS 7.3.3 to a java application. The
    Oracle DBMS is working on AX 4.3 (Unix) machines and my java 1.1 application in working on a linux machines. I look for a jdbc driver for oracle 7.3.3 but I find only one for oracle 7.3.4 for solaris system. It is useful?
    Ciao
    Michele
    null

    Make sure the class12.zip file is there in the classpath (Assuming you are using JDK 1.2.X)..
    And try the conection as
    DriverManager.registerDriver(new oracle.jdbc.driver.OracleDriver());
    // Connect to the database
    // You must put a database name after the @ sign in the connection URL.
    // You can use either the fully specified SQL*net syntax or a short cut
    // syntax as <host>:<port>:<sid>. The example uses the short cut syntax.
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection ("jdbc:oracle:thin:@dlsun511:1721:dbms733",
    "scott", "tiger");
    For the Personal Oracle and JDBC connection you need to start the listener.ora and try connecting. or
    you can use the connect string as
    Connection conn = DriverManager.getConnection ("jdbc:oracle:oci8:@",
    "scott", "tiger");

    Hello,
    this issue is related with database connection. Please, create the database connection again (with dbconfig.cmd), restart your app server and try to log into P6 again.
    Check that your port number, instance (or database name) , users are correct.

  • Java Web Start Application surprisedly does not start anymore based on new JRE1.7.0_45

    Hi everyone,
    we have to maintain a self-developed Java Application which is running based on JRE1.5.0_51 (x64). Our recent client machines have JRE1.7.0_40 (x64 too) installed in addition to the mentioned (and needed) JRE1.5.0_51 (x64).
    Everything was fine up to the point where we tried to install the newest JRE1.7.0_45 (x64) as the new version for doing the web start magic. The result is that our application (which is/was unchanged!) does not launch anymore. The strange thing is that we do not get any StackTrace, Exception or something else like this.
    The startup process simply hangs :-(
    Nothing has changed (application itself, firewall, network settings, hardware) apart from the new JRE version. It's reproducible at will. If I install JRE1.7.0_40 (x64) the application starts, if I install JRE1.7.0_45 (x64) the application hangs.
    I can say for sure, that in both cases (*_40 AND *_45) Web Start is able to do the synchronizing job and to launch the application base on the correct JRE1.5.0_51 (x64).
    My guess is that in case of an installed JRE1.7.0_45 (x64), the application hangs when it tries to connect to the database (Oracle 11g) via JDBC.
    I found a little hint in the Web Start Console. Therefore I had to switch the trace level of the console to 3 (which includes security, network and basic)
    In case of an installed JRE1.7.0_40 (x64) - which leads to a running application - I will receive the following output:
    Java Web Start 10.40.2.43

    These last "network:" log entries will never stop. This will lead to an infinite loop which results in a great memory leak. I have to kill the process via windows task manager in order to get rid of it.
    Does someone out there has the same problem? Are there any new additional security issues which prevent my client to establish the database connection on port 1521?
    Any other ideas?
    Thanks in advance for any hint on this issue!
    Regards,
    Alex

    Resolution: We still were not able to solve this issue! The only way to get out of this is to install the JRE1.5 as the x64 variant. In this case no switching from 64-bit to 32-bit is needed and everything is on track again.
    But this is still strange and unexplainable :-(
