Java Connector Server - run as service on Windows

Hi
For whatever reason, I'm not able to install the java Connector Server as a service on my Windows server.
It does give a successful message upon connectorserver.bat /install, but it does not show up.
I can run and use it fine with the command connectorserver.bat /run
Also, the .Net version installs fine as a service.
Any ideas out there?
- Lars

Update in this one.
I got it installed as a service (it was a user rights problem). Now the problem is that it won't start.
It gives me the error:
+[173 javajni.c] [error] %1 is not a valid Win32 application.+
+[898 prunsrv.c] [error] Failed creating java c:\Oracle\Java\jdk1.7.0_10\jre\bin\server\jvm.dll+
+[1132 prunsrv.c] [error] ServiceStart returned 1+
In dire need of help, as it would be impossible to keep running this connectorserver with the /run parameter. :)
Some additional information:
OS: MS Win Server 2008 R2
System: 64-bit
Java-version: JDK1.7.0_10

  • Windows Server Essentials Storage Service and Windows Server Essentials Email Service eating memory

    Hi
I have Windows Server 2012 R2 with Essentials Role installed. I have integrated server with Azure AD, Office 365 and Intune using the Essentials Dashboard integration tools.
I can see that Windows Server Essentials Storage Service and Windows Server Essentials Email Service are eating much of server memory. What are these services for and why they use a lot of memory? Specially I am wondering about the Email Service. What is
it for? Server dont handle email in any way so what is this service for? I tried to google it but found nothing.

    Hi
    I have 6GB of memory.
When I check from Resource Monitor, for Essentials Storage Service, Commit Set is 4G and Working Set is 1,8G.
Email Service Commit is about 1,8G and Working Set is just below 1G.
So these two services are reserving almost all the memory.
Memory is about 85-90% in use all the time, whether it be night or day.
Server have about 12 users and at the office there is about 2-6 person at the time. Link between server and office is 100M. There are no other services installed but the basic ones. We use server for AD (O365 integration) and file shares. Traffic in File
Shares are not big. They are more kind of an warehouse that in busy day-to-day use.
This server is about couple of months old and it has been like this since it was fired up.
I dont know what to look for from Event Logs and Process Monitor dont give me anything useful.

  • Server failing to run multiple services after Windows Update ran last night.

SBS 2011 Server was restarted to complete installation of 8 critical security updates last night. A number of services all dependent on RPC Service will not run today. I uninstalled all the updates and restarted Server but still have the same problem.
This is a real estate law office and they have no printers or E-mail today.  RPC Service reports as started but all services that depend on it fail to start.  I've attempted to troubleshoot the problem but I am not getting
anywhere.  Any suggestions on best way to resolve the problem?

    Hi,
What is the status of RPCSs Service , is it started , Automatic and running on NT AUTHORITY\NetworkService ?
Find Default SBS 2011 Services status here:
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/sbs/archive/2011/07/13/default-services-and-their-status-in-sbs-2011.aspx
Open Registry HKLM\System\CCS\Services\RPCss , could you please share the DependOnService values ?
Make sure there is only NIC card enabled on the server with DNS pointing to itself.
Disconnect the Network Cable and reboot the server once.
Do an MSCONFIG , clean boot the server , including Exchange Services.
Try to boot the server in Safe Mode also try Last known Good configuration, just for troubleshooting.
We might have to try changing the Logon As in service for RPCss to Local System as a test. (BUT THAT WOULD BE LATER)

  • Http server run as services on win2k?

    Hi,
I have installed oracle 9i to my win2k and would like to setup the http server to run as services, but can't found any document about it.
This is command line how I start OC4J from report 9i (startinst.bat):
    C:\work\programs\oracle\developer\jdk\bin\java -Dorg.omg.CORBA.ORBClass=com.inprise.vbroker.orb.ORB -Dorg.omg.CORBA.ORBSingletonClass=com.inprise.vbroker.orb.ORB -Doracle.security.jazn.config=C:\work\programs\oracle\developer\j2ee\Oracle9iDS\config\jazn.xml -Doracle.home=C:\work\programs\oracle\developer -DORACLE_HOME=C:\work\programs\oracle\developer -jar C:\work\programs\oracle\developer\j2ee\home\oc4j.jar -userThreads -config C:\work\programs\oracle\developer\j2ee\Oracle9iDS\config\server.xml
How can I setup a auto. start service for this command?
    Thanks.
    David

Hi David -- OPMN is key component of Oracle9iAS and is installed with the product. Based on what you wrote, did you install Oracle9iAS Release 2 (the app server), or Oracle9i Release 2 (the database)?
If you installed the oracle9iAS Release 2 product, then you should see the opmn directory directly under the ORACLE_HOME directory.
On my W2000 laptop, I have the following under the ORACLE_HOME directory.

  • Services.msc window not opening in Windows Server 2012

    Hi,
I have installed Windows Server 2012 on my laptop, when I am typing services.msc in run, the services management window opens and closes immediately and no logs in event viewer.
Same thing happens with Task Manager. I am not able to diagnose this issue.
    Kindly suggest.

  • Secure service in Java Web server 2.0

Hi all, I have installed a Java Web Server 2.0 without the secure service running, and everything works just fine.
Then I make a self-signed certificate with authstore, using key size 1024, MD5withRSA, hostname: <my computer> (testing on local net (maybe this is what fails?)), and all the other stuff. All looks good and certificate info looks like this:
    Subject Information: CN=yodopc1, OU=SW dept, O=Yodoba, L=Z?rich, ST=Z?ric, C=CH
    Issuer Information: CN=yodopc1, OU=SW dept, O=Yodoba, L=Z?rich, ST=Z?ric, C=CH
    Dates Valid: Thu Jun 28 10:19:35 CEST 2001 --> Wed Sep 26 10:19:35 CEST 2001
    Algorithm: MD5withRSA
    Serial Number: 993716375
Then I exit, and restart (even tried rebooting machine).
Start webserver, type inn key password, and login to the Server admin applet. There it says:
Service -------------- Status ------ Port -- Network Address
    Java web server ------ Terminated - -------
    - Web service -------- Unknown --- 80 ----
    - Secure Web service - Unknown --- 7070 --
If I try to start the server, it runs for about ten seconds before it is back to the same state again. Of course trying to access server through http(s)://localhost(:7070) results in a "Cannot find server..." If I delete the keys file in <JWS-root>, everything is back to where it was before I started creating the certificate.
I have seen that there are a lot of old (1-2 years old) Posts with similar and perhaps related issues, but none of witch have any replies that finds a solution. Hopefully someone can help my now...
All help and suggestion are Greatly appriciated.

    Hi Sjurba,
    Please follow this URL:
    http://www.sun.com/software/jwebserver/faq/faq.html#f6
    http://docs.iplanet.com/docs/manuals/messaging/sims35/install/postwa.doc6.html
    Also read the below.
Client side workaround: Use Netscape Communicator 4.x instead of Netscape Navigator 3.x.
Java Web Server workaround: Use the VeriSign root certificate that is shipped in Java Web Server 1.1. Follow these instructions:
1.Copy or save the file named keys, located in the top level directory of your Java Web Server installation, to a secure place (for example, a floppy disk).
2.Locate the secure server certificate that VeriSign sent you.
3.Install Java Web Server 1.1 in a temporary directory. You don't need to run this server--you only need to run AuthStore to regenerate the keys file. (The install of
Java Web Server 1.1 does need not be on the same machine as the install of the Java Web Server 1.1.x that has the problem).
For the remainder of these instructions, 1.1.x server root is the installation directory of the Java Web Server 1.1.x that shows the problem. 1.1 server root is the
installation directory of Java Web Server 1.1
    4.Copy the keys file from 1.1.x server root/ to 1.1 server root/.
5.Run AuthStore under 1.1 server root. AuthStore is in the bin directory. You will need to type in the server passphrase to launch AuthStore.
6.From the scrolling list, select the key that corresponds to the secure server certificate from VeriSign.
7.Click Import and type the full path of the certificate that you received from VeriSign.
8.Click Save to write a new keys file under 1.1 server root.
    9.Click Exit.
10.Copy the new keys file from 1.1 server root/ to 1.1.x server root/.
11.Restart the Java Web Server 1.1.x under 1.1.x server root.
I hope this will help you.

  • Sun Java Application Server 9.0 and 9.1 - High CPU PROCENTAGE 100%

    Hi,
I have problem with sun java application Server running after few days during watching a logs from web admin suddenly the application server takes 100% cpu and keeps this procentage - I have to manually close the server process.
The server running on Windows Server 2003.
Anyone have any idea to sovle the problem?

    Hi Kedar,
Thanks for the reply. Yes, I finally figured it out.
The custom MBeans seem to work well for the most part though I don't know for sure if I'm using them in the way they were really intended.
Basically, I want to run 'services' on my application server for the lifetime of the server. I want these 'services' to maintain things like runtime caching of information over time that is not persisted in a DB but needs to be kept around in active memory to be used at a later time, but only while the application server is up and running.
Another thing I would like to do is have them receive JMS notifications directly, but I seem to be having trouble when subscribing as a consumer within my custom MBean. The topic thread on that is here:

  • MARS - NFS on Unix Services for Windows and deleting files

    Hello !
I've prepared NFS server on W2k3 server with Unix Services for Windows installed. It works OK, the only problem is moveing/deleting files and folders. It seems like a problem with permissions for anonymous user. Does anybody have similar experience ?

If you receive the following error message "Error ./pnarchiver Thread 2051:PN-0102:SQL error: ORA-01005: null password given; logon denied" then there is a Problem with archiving to NFS server. The directories for the archiving are properly created on the server but those directories remain empty. The workaround is that an inter operability issue exists between MARS and CygWin NFS server running on Windows 2003 server. To work around such inter operability issues, replace the NFS server with Microsoft Windows Services for Unix.

  • Problem running DAC Server as Service on Windows

I have used JavaService to setup the DAC server as a service on my Windows 2003 server. It seems to install and then start fine. The DAC client sees the server as running. But as soon as I try to execute an ETL the run fails immediately with " Unable to ping :'srn_integration_service', that being the name of my Informatica server as defined. I can then shutdown the service, start the server using the BAT file and the ETL runs as expected. I am creating the JavaService command line with the following BAT file which uses the same configuration as the startserver BAT file:
    cd C:\OracleBi\DAC\bifoundation\dac
    call config.bat
javaservice -install "DAC Server Service" "%JAVA_HOME%\jre\bin\client\jvm.dll" -Xms256m -Xmx1024m "-Djava.class.path=%DACCLASSPATH%" "-Duser.dir=%DAC_HOME%" -start com.siebel.etl.net.QServer -current "C:\OracleBI\DAC\bifoundation\dac" -description "Oracle BI DAC Server Service"
The DAC version from the console is "Dac Build AN 10.1.3.4.1.20090415.0146, Build date: April 15 2009"
I know people are doing this successfully so I am probably overlooking something simple (I'm a DAC novice.) Any ideas?

I create the service with this command:

  • RMI Connector Server not running in java 1.4

I have an application using sun JDMK implementation which is running fine in java 1.3 As I go to java 1.4, the RMI connector server is not running, the state goes to OFFLINE. I don't see any exception except that the server doesn't stay alive. Any idea on the problem ?

If you have the possibility of changing your application so that it uses the RMI connector defined by the JMX Remote API, then I would strongly encourage you to do so. You can get an implementation from http://java.sun.com/javase/technologies/core/mntr-mgmt/javamanagement/download.jsp (look for JMX Remote API Reference Implementation).
If you don't have the option of doing this in the short term, then you could try turning on JDMK traces by calling com.sun.jdmk.TraceManager.parseTraceProperties() in the main method of your application, and specifying -DLEVEL_DEBUG on the command-line. You will probably see some logging information that will help you diagnose your problem.

  • ADS+Terminal Services on a Single Physical Server running Windows Server 2008 R2

We have a Dual Processor Server (2 x Intel Xeon E5-2620v2 + 32GB RAM) running on Windows Server 2008 R2. This has ADS configured. We now wish to add a VDI Setup with NComputing Zero-Clients. We have to run Terminal Services with User RDS CAL + User
    CAL for all VDI Clients.
Please confirm if we can have both the ADS & Terminal Services running on the same physical server ? Are there known issues or crashes due to this ? Or should both these run on two different servers ? Customer does not want to invest in one more server
& OS. Hence, we have to run both the services on a single physical server. Customer has just upgraded his server to a Dual Processor with 32GB RAM to accommodate both the services.
Please advice, if we can run both the ADS & TS on the same server. What is the best practice for this Solution ?
    Thanks & Regards,
    VR
    ([email protected])

    Hi,
After referring your comment I can say that, you can able to use ADS and Terminal service on same physical server with server 2008 R2. But installing a terminal server on an Active Directory domain controller is not recommended. I suggest that it’s not a good
practice to manage the environment in that way. If possible, then try to run on two different machines for better result and to avoid any problem. Allowing users to run programs on a domain controller could create security risks and performance issues.
If the Terminal Server role service is installed on a domain controller, the security settings of the domain controller will need to be adjusted to allow user’s remote access to the server. This remote access is controlled by the "Allow log on through Terminal
Services" user rights assignment, which can be configured by using the Group Policy Management Console (GPMC).
You can refer below link for more information.
    1.  Installing RD Session Host on a Domain Controller
    2.  Best practices for setting up Remote Desktop Licensing (Terminal Server Licensing) across Active Directory Domains/Forests or Workgroup

    Hello Sim085
    thanks for your reply.
Perhaps it would be easier for us to continue the programming with any kind of VisualStudio Produkt ;-), although we dont't had to think about OOP yet!
Because of our new Network-Technology (Terminal-Server) we have to discuss serveral possibilities.
I've read about JSP and ASP.NET, and I want to know if JSP or any kind of JAVA Program will run on a Terminal-Server.
Are there any special aspects I have to know when running JSP on a terminal server from Microsoft? Is it better to program applications in JAVA or in JSP? ...
