Java Heap Space with aRFC Call

Hi,
I got an issue here.
My scenario is : RFC --> PI --> SOAP
PI Version : 7.0
I want to send my material catalog to PI. I have broadly 66 000 Materials. When I send it via RFC call here is my error (SM58 into the SAP HR system):
Java heap space
When I send only one material everything is good
So here is how I send my material :
CALL FUNCTION 'Z3P_MATERIAL_GETLIST'
  TABLES
    return = it_return
    RESULT = it_RESULT.
IF p_send = 'X'.
  CALL FUNCTION 'Z3P_MATERIAL_GETLIST'
    IN BACKGROUND TASK AS SEPARATE UNIT DESTINATION p_rfc
    TABLES
      return = it_return
      RESULT = it_RESULT.
  COMMIT WORK.
ENDIF.
Do I reach the limit of RFC call ? What should I do ?
Thanks

For processing a message you are allocated some space and i think that processing 66000 materials at a time you are overshooting this space-limit....however when you are processing only one material it is well within the limit.....
Check these two discussions...it will give you a good insight of what you need to do...

  • OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space, with lots of heap space left

    Hello. I've been seeing my web app (running on Linux) start to throw OutOfMemoryError(s) after a few days of running time. The following is the output of jstat -gc every 10 seconds. From the last 8 lines or so, it seems that the eden space is full, but both survivor spaces and the old gen space have plenty of room - it's like garbage collection has stopped, and no memory is getting freed in eden - hence the OutOfMemory errors.
    Am I misinterpreting the log output? What could be going on?
    thanks.

    Which java-version are you using - and if its an old one does the problem also happen with the latest jdk5 or 6 update releases.
    There have been some bugs which stop the collector for some time but allow allocation, which have been fixed now.

  • Trouble with  "java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space"

    Hello,
    I use a Java-based modeling tool that very few out there are probably familiar with. This tool allows me to run models (program) from within the development environment, to create Applets or create jar files that can be executed in a stand-alone fashion.
    I am using a database on my local harddrive to read in some data using JDBC, so am not using the Applet option with certificates. The development environment is expensive, so can't be distributed. That leaves the stand-alone option.
    The model (program) I've written runs perfectly fine in the development environment and, previously, has worked fine as a stand-alone program. However, the stand-alone option isn't working anymore, because I keep getting this error.
    I am not much of a Java programmer; I'm learning as I go along. If anyone can help me solve this, I'll be most appreciative
    From my cmd prompt:

    Hi I am ancountering the same problem with the 'heap space'.
    Is there any way I can find out what it is set to for my system? I dont believe its 32Mb and dont want to increase it randomly to too large a size if theres no need for it.
    Thanks,
    Bobby

  • Recon task fails with Java heap space error

    Hi All,
    I have this annoying issue at the moment where a custom recon task will start, process a few users, and then end up with a java heap space error. The app server will then restart after a few minutes and run into the same problem and bomb out while continuing to fill the log file.
    This has only just started and nothing has changed in our environment so it baffles me as to why it has started. The recon task uses some code to do a lookup and then adds the users to certain groups.
    Error from log:

    Error is just related to memory. Why don't you increase memory in your environment ?

    pretty obvious to me "java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space"
    Read,
    https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/sdn/wiki?path=/display/jsts/(Kernel)OOM
    or
    java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
    those links should give you a fairly good idea on how to solve the issue.

  • JVM Java heap space Error || even with -Xms- and -Xmx commands

    hi all, i got a problem by allocating a very great boolean array.
    first of all, here is my testcode:
    public static void main(String[] args) {
              boolean[] testfield = new boolean[70000000];
              while(true){
              //NOP
         }as you see, i try to allocate an array with 70.000.000 boolean values - as 1 boolean may be represented as at least one physical bit we calculate the total amount of needed RAM-Space:
    70.000.000 bit / 8 = 8750000 byte
    8.750.000 byte = 8.75 MByte
    My System ist WinVista Ultimate 64-bit running on a Quadcore T2200 with 2GB-DDR3 RAM
    Looking in my Vista Ressourcemanager shows, that eclipse.exe reserves about 1.023 Mbyte....
    As IDE I use eclipse
    my eclipse.ini looks as follows:
    -showsplash
    org.eclipse.platform
    --launcher.XXMaxPermSize
    256M
    -vmargs
    -Dosgi.requiredJavaVersion=1.5
    -Xms512m
    -Xmx1024m
    -XX:PermSize=512mby using following VMCommand "-XX:+PrintGCDetails" and running the above code the output displays:
    [GC [DefNew: 180K->63K(960K), 0.0008311 secs][Tenured: 43K->107K(4096K), 0.0060371 secs] 180K->107K(5056K), 0.0069249 secs] [Times: user=0.00 sys=0.00, real=0.01 secs]

    Originally i was thinking like that way: Integer.MAXVALUE = (2^32)-1
    => biggest index an array can have
    => biggest allocation possible with ints weights (((2^32)-^1)/8)/1000*1000 = (round) 537 MByte < 2GByte => everything fine .... but it seems like not :-(
    When i try to allocate 60.0000.000 it works fine....but that is far not enough :-&
    thank you very much for your helping answers!

    The Sun Java virtual machine stores booleans as bytes, not bits, so for an array of 70 million booleans you need 70 million bytes, plus 8 bytes for the object header, and 4 bytes for the array length.
    I suspect that your eclipse.ini controls the JVM running the Eclipse IDE, not the JVM running your application. Note that in the -XX:+PrintGCDetails output at the end, it shows you running out of memory with 4MB of young generation and 60MB of old generation. That's the default configuration, as if you hadn't specified -Xms and -Xmx.
    The array of 60 million booleans only requires 60 million bytes (plus overhead), which fits in the default old generation.
    I think you need to put the -Xms and -Xmx in the same place you put the -XX:+PrintGCDetails, since that does seem to display information about the JVM running your application, not the JVM running Eclipse.

    A)
    1)update FND_CP_SERVICES set DEVELOPER_PARAMETERS =

    where SERVICE_ID = (select MANAGER_TYPE from FND_CONCURRENT_QUEUES
    where CONCURRENT_QUEUE_NAME = 'FNDCPOPP');
    2)As XML Publisher Administrator navigate to Administration->Configuration.
    Under Temporary Directory pick a temporary file location on your concurrent processing node. This should be at least 5GB or 20x larger than largest XML data file you generate
    Under FO Processing, set:
    Use XML Publisher's XSLT processor set to True
    Enable scalable feature of XSLT processor set to False (see #4 below),
    Enable XSLT runtime optimization set to True
    3)We also have tried to to apply the workaround mentioned in the document 747750.1
    In to Concurrent -> Program -> Define, in the 'Executable' group, there is a field named 'Options'.
    Enter the value '-ms1024m -mx1024m' as the value for this field.
    None of these seem to have worked.
    Also refered to the the previous forum entries on these. But did not find anything specific to EBS. Most of them were related to Standalone installations.
    CAn anyone help me.

    My frien google tells me that you use
    >
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space
    This can have two reasons:
    * Your Java application has a memory leak. There are tools like YourKit Java Profiler that help you to identify such leaks.
    * Your Java application really needs a lot of memory (more than 128 MB by default!). In this case the Java heap size can be increased using the following runtime parameters:
    java -Xms<initial heap size> -Xmx<maximum heap size>

  • How do I stop "Exception in thread "main" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError.java heap space

    I'm trying to rebuild my iPhone app, with hires graphics etc, using CS6 Flash Pro. However, I get this now,
    Exception in thread "main" java.lang.OutOfMemoryError.java heap space .....  followed by a lot of location information related to the error.
    Now, how do I increase the java memory allowances if that's the problem. I've already upp the jvm.ini file from 128 to 512. No difference.
    I'm based on
    Win8, 8GB RAM, x64
    I'm obviously asking it to load a lot of resources - but hey, Flahs should be able to handle it right?
    thanks if anyone can help

    Hmmm. Maybe I was doing something wrong with images, and icons. I'm not sure, as it's not at all clear really.
    This is the Icons screen from CS6, can't see the files above 512x512unless scrolling up - 29x29,57x57,114x114.  no matter.
    So - after reading and rereading the Apple specs and directions, I removed the 512x512 and the 1024x1024 images from the Icons list that get pulled in during build.
    Next, I again re-read the Apple directives, and put the required files for the build into the base directory of the build, as per this image.
    In actual fact - I can probably leave out the last two. iTunesArtwork.xxx But I don't know, because it is entirely unclear on that point. I can find no directive regarding this at all.
    Do I upload them myself? Probably? I don't know.
    HOWEVER.
    The build now completes. Java, or something, was very confused about finding that file called 1024x1024.png in the build list, and would not do it.
    Take it out of icons, built fine. Put it in the icons directory, and crash...
    Now - with the setup I am using, it all builds fine for ipad and iphone, in all resolutions.
    I don't know what the problem is with what Java is seeing, but this fixes it it seems.
    Hope that helps anyone else.
    cheers

  • Exception in thread "AWT-Event Queue 0" Mem Out of Bounds. Java Heap Space

    Hello,
    I'm not sure how to resolve this Java Heap Space Memory Out of Bounds error. Could someone please assist me with this error?
    A SCENARIO:
    I am reading in tons of data from 5 separate text files. The files have tons of rows (up to 64,220 in one). The data must be read into the program and assembled. When I have all of the files populated, I receive the OOM Error. If I remove the data from one of the 5 files the program runs successfully. If I add the data back into the file and then remove the data from some other file, the program runs successfully.
    Thanks
    RodneyM

    ff.skip(18);
    i = ff.read();
    i = ((ff.read() << 8) | i);
    i = ((ff.read() << 16) | i);
    i = ((ff.read() << 24) | i);
    xsize = i;
    System.out.println("width=" + xsize);
    i = 0;
    i = ff.read();
    i = ((ff.read() << 8) | i);
    i = ((ff.read() << 16) | i);
    i = ((ff.read() << 24) | i);
    ysize = i;
    System.out.println("Height=" + ysize);
    ff.skip(38);//62-(2+16+4+4=26)=36, actually total=62 Bytes header This is completely wrong. First an foremost you should not have this code in the paint(Graphics g) method. This is a GUI thing. The paint method may be called for any reason and you do not+ want to open a file stream, read it, and do the distance transformation every single time the method is called. There's also the issue that you have overridden the paint method as opposed to subclassing a component, overriding the paintComponent method, and adding it to the frame. But that can be ignored for right now (it will come back later and cause complications).
    Next, you've said that the header is 62 bytes. This is incorrect for a png file. The code you have posted assumes (very specifically) that you have inputted a BMP version 3 with 2-color entry palette. In other words you can only open a very specific type of image with that code. Definitely not a png. This is what was causing the out of memory error since it interprets the width and height wrong when reading the bytes and you end up trying to create a 2-D int array that will take up several hundred megabytes in size
    //xsize and ysize are interpreted wrongly
    pix=new int[xsize][ysize];
    mat1=new int[xsize][ysize]; Now granted, BMP v3 is the most common type you will encounter but you must admit that the code is not very robust at all (since it requires a very specific input).

  • XMLReader :  java.lang.OutOfMemoryError: Java heap space

    I'm using a XMLReader object to Parse XML files. About 20000 XML documents need to be parsed, so the parse(...) method is called about 20000 times in a loop.
    The XML string to be parsed are all about 2500 bytes long. Java 1.5 is used.
    import java.io.StringReader;
    import org.xml.sax.XMLReader;
    private final XMLReader parser;
    private StringReader stringReader;
    public void myParseMethod(final String xml) {
    try {
    stringReader = new StringReader(xml);
    parser.parse(new InputSource(stringReader));
    stringReader.close();
    } catch (final SAXParseException e) {
    } catch (final SAXException e) {
    } catch (final IOException e) {
    Calling the method myParseMethod(final String xml) goes well till about 2000 times. Then the following exception is thrown:

    Badly written code? Look into the Xerces API and you'll find out that I'm using the XML parser the normal way.Not at all. Those APIs deal with any stream. You have gone to a whole lot of extra and unnecessary trouble and expense to read the entire file, probably accumulate it into a StringBuffer, convert that to a String, and create a StringReader around it. Or else you have read the entire file into a char[] array and created a String directly from that. This strategy creates not one but two copies of the entire file in memory, and also wastes time. The normal way is to wrap an InputSource around a FileReader or InputStreamReader, probably with a BufferedReader in between. End of all that pointless and badly written code, end of the two copies of the file in memory, end of the wasting of time, and end of your memory problems too.
    Full stop.

    The volume of data, even for one day, is huge; almost 70M, 100M. Do you mean this many records? or this many MB. either way they are not that big for Java. If you have collections of up to 2 billion entries, you won't have a problem.

    I have tried to use Thread to split the comparison process in 10 threads. Each thread is fetching portion of data from both tables (for example 7M each) and processing portion them. The issue that I am facing is, I am getting following exception after running:I would suggest you get the program working with one thread first. You will find this is simpler and possibly even faster. Having 10 threads isn't guarenteed to be faster.

    To compare the data, I am fetching data from tableA and add it into List<MyDataObject> listA (the MyDataObject represent a one row data. It is a java bean) and then I am fetching data from tableB and add it into List<MyDataObject> listB
    And then I compare the lists.
    It seems there is limitation in size of List and I cannot add many elements to a List object, it’ll throws Out of Memory exception. The limit is 2^31-1. However an Out of Memory error means what it says. You are out of heap space, so you need to either increase it, or use less memory.

    This method works for small volume, but for large one I get that exceptionIs there any reason you cannot divide the problem so you can process a small volume at a time?
