Java Learning for the beginners

Hi All,
I have completed OCA exam (SQL and PL/SQL) and now i want to learn JAVA to develop front-end database application. I am quite new with JAVA and i have no experience with it.
would anyone pls. help me by providing the website/URL from where i may learn JAVA step by steps. better if i have the video clip to learn JAVA.
i don't know whether i am allowed to post this sort of layman type question in this community. i searched in the web to have those sort of resources, but failed.
Pls. advise me which java will suit my requirement to develop front end application for database in Oracle database (in back end). i would be grateful if you provide me the guidelines accordingly.
it would a great help if anyone helps me by providing the website addresses for online training material for the beginners like me from where i may have the resources to learn java step by step.
thank you in advance

  • Provide the java code for the following scenario.

    Hi Experts,
    I have tried with all the combinations for this scenario. As per my understanding i require java code for the following scenario
    so that it becomes easy........
    I require a Message mapping for this Logic.
    In the Source there are 4 fields and, the Target side, the fields should appear like this.
    Source Structure- File
    Record
    |-> Header
    Order_No
    Date
    |-> Item
    Mat_No
    Quantity
    Target Structure-IDoc
    IDoc
    |-> Header
    |-> Segment
    Delivery_Order_No
    Recv_Date
    |-> Item
    |-> Segment
    Delivery_Order_No
    Material_Num
    Recv_Quantity.
    The Logic is for every Order number an IDOC is generated.And if the Material num matches then the quantity should be added. and important note is that the material numbers are different for every order number. That means if a material number is 2 in the order number A. Then the material number can never be 2 in any of the order numbers.Here is the following with an example for the above scenario.
    For example:-
    we have
    Source Structure- File
    Order-no Date Mat_No Quantity
    1 01/02/2011 A 10
    1 01/02/2011 B 15
    1 01/02/2011 A 10
    2 01/02/2011 C 10
    2 01/02/2011 C 10
    3 01/02/2011 D 20
    3 01/02/2011 D 10
    3 01/02/2011 E 25
    Target Structure-IDoc
    Delivery_Order_No Recv_Date Material_Num Recv_Quantity
    1 01/02/2011 A 20
    1 01/02/2011 B 15
    2 01/02/2011 C 20
    3 01/02/2011 D 30
    3 01/02/2011 E 25
    So for this example total of 5-Idocs created. That means for this example if Order_No is 1 When the Mat_No is A the quantity gets added. For this Scenario 1 IDoc with four Fields 2 in Header(Delivery_Order_No, Recv_Date) and 2 in Item(Material_Num, Recv_Quantity) is generated by adding the quantity field in the Target Side. Similarly if Order_No is 1 when the Mat_No is B then separate IDoc is generated with four Fields 2 in Header(Delivery_Order_No, Recv_Date) and 2 in Item(Material_Num, Recv_Quantity) in the Target Side. Similarly, if Order_No is 2 when the Mat_No is C, an IDoc is generated with four Fields 2 in Header(Delivery_Order_No, Recv_Date) and 2 in Item(Material_Num, Recv_Quantity) by adding the quantity field in the Target Side. ike wise the process goes on upto 3.Kindly do the needy..
    Kindly provide the java code.
    Thanq very much in advance..

    what i have understood from ur example is that u want to generate an idoc for unique combination of  Order-no and Mat_No
    if yes then chk the below mapping..
    change the context of Order_No, Date, Mat_No and Quantity to Record (right click-> context)
    1)
    Order-no
    ----------------------concat[;]---sort----splitbyvalue(valuechanged)-----collapse context---IDoc
    Mat_No
    2)
    Order-no
    --------concat[;]---sort----splitbyvalue(value changed)---collapse context---UDF1--splitbyvalue(each value)--Delivery_Order_No
    Mat_No
    3)
    Order-no
    -----------concat[;]---sortbykey----------------------- \
    Mat_No                       /                            \
    Date--------------- /                                       \
    ----------------------------------------------------------FormatByExample-----collapsecontext---splitbyvalue(each value)----Recv_Date
    Order-no                                                 /
    -----------concat[;]---sort----splitbyvalue(value changed)
    Mat_No
    4)
    Order-no
    --------concat[;]---sort----splitbyvalue(value changed)---collapse context-UDF2--splitbyvalue(each value)--Material_Num
    Mat_No
    5)
    Order-no
    -----------concat[;]---sortbykey
    Mat_No                       /
    Quantity --------------- /
    ----------------------------------------------------------FormatByExample-----SUM(under statistic)----Recv_Quantity
    Order-no
    -----------concat[;]---sort----splitbyvalue(value changed)
    Mat_No
    UDF1:
    String [] temp= a.split(";");
    return temp[0];
    UDF2:
    String [] temp= a.split(";");
    return temp[1];

  • Creating Java code for the function module

    Hi Colleagues,
    I have a fuction module in ABAP system. Now I want to Generate java code for the FM.
    I cam to know that we can achive that using AXIS, By getting the XML file for the fuction module and generate Java
    Class file using that XML file.
    Can any one tell me how to achive it.
    Or any other way to do that?
    Please provide you valid suggestions.
    Regards,
    Sathya

    Hi,
    You can integrate axis2 in eclipse. I think you have to find the plugin for that.
    After that you can let axis generate the jave code (stubs and proxies) for your web service via the wsdl file.
    Kind Regards,

  • Explicity mapping between ActionScript and Java objects for the BlazeDS Messaging Service

    The BlazeDS documentation shows how to explicitly map between ActionScript and Java objects. For example, this works fine for RPC services, e.g.
    import flash.utils.IExternalizable;
    import flash.utils.IDataInput;
    import flash.utils.IDataOutput;
    [Bindable]
    [RemoteClass(alias="javaclass.User")]
    public class User implements IExternalizable {
            public var id : String;
            public var secret : String;
            public function User() {
            public function readExternal(input : IDataInput) : void {
                    id = input.readObject() as String;
            public function writeExternal(output : IDataOutput) : void {
                    output.writeObject(id);
    and
    import java.io.Externalizable;
    import java.io.IOException;
    import java.io.ObjectInput;
    import java.io.ObjectOutput;
    import java.util.HashSet;
    import java.util.Iterator;
    import java.util.Set;
    public class User implements Externalizable {
        protected String id;
        protected String secret;
        public String getId() {
            return id;
        public void setId(String id) {
            this.id = id;
        public String getSecret() {
            return secret;
        public void setSecret(String secret) {
            this.secret = secret;
        public void readExternal(ObjectInput in) throws IOException,
                    ClassNotFoundException {
            id = (String) in.readObject();
        public void writeExternal(ObjectOutput out) throws IOException {
            out.writeObject(id);
    If I called an RPC service that returns a User, the secret is not sent over the wire.  Is it also possible to do this for the messaging service? That is, if I create a custom messaging adapter and use the function below, can I also prevent secret from being sent?
    MessageBroker messageBroker = MessageBroker.getMessageBroker(null);
    AsyncMessage message = new AsyncMessage();
    message.setDestination("MyMessagingService");
    message.setClientId(UUIDUtils.createUUID());
    message.setMessageId(UUIDUtils.createUUID());
    User user = new User();
    user.setId("id");
    user.setSecret("secret");
    message.setBody(user);
    messageBroker.routeMessageToService(message, null);

    Hi Martin. The way that AMF serialization/deserialization works for BlazeDS is the same regardless of which service is being used, so yes that code will work for messaging as well. On the server, the serialization/deserialization of messages happens at the endpoint. For an incoming message for example, the endpoint deserializes the message and then hands it off to the MessageBroker which decides which service/destination to deliver the message to.
    That was a good question. Thanks for asking it. Lots of people are used to doing custom serialization/deserialization with the RPC services (RemoteObject/RemotingService) but I'm not sure everyone realizes they can do this for messaging as well.

  • Java Docs for the Module Process Classes

    Hi,
    I would like to start creating my own JDBC and file-based modules for interface development. I have found several  SDN contributions which step through the creation of these modules. These are very helpful.
    However, I have not yet found comprehensive documentation describing the classes used in module develpment. i.e.:
    - com.sap.aii.af.mp.module.Module
    - com.sap.aii.af.mp.module.ModuleContext
    - com.sap.aii.af.mp.module.ModuleData
    Does anyone know where to find the Java Docs for these classes? Or is there any other equivalent explanation of how to use these classes, their methods and fields?
    Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    This says that the java documentation is available in the example adapter/module that is there with XI.
    I vaguely remembering seeing the docu..it was long back though..right now i donot have access to a system...
    Get the rar(java archive) that i talked about in the above link...

    xfa.host.messageBox("First Name is a required field.","Required Field",1);

  • Why JMS if we can use JAVA classes for the same

    if we can communicate using the java classes which are protable and platform independent why do we have to use JMS for that. what is so specific about it and what is the benefit that makes it outstanding

    James/Steve,
    I feel that some of your points are misleading. The original authors point was a comparison against JMS and other means of achieving similar functionality with Java. Regarding your combined points:
    2) Scalability is something that can be achieved regardless of whether JMS is used. Clustering has nothing to do with JMS, each vendors clustering implementation is entirely proprietary.
    4) Aside from the inclusion of JNDI the JMS specification offers nothing for management. You only need to look through this forum at the amount of times a question like how do I make a topic programmatically? has been asked. All good JMS vendors offer management APIs and tools but all are vendor specific implementations.
    10) There is no JMS standard for load balancing. The generic round robin features of a JMS queue falls a long way short of true load balancing. Any vendor (ourselves included) that offers load balancing does so in an entirely proprietary manner.
    11) AgainJMS provides no standards for clustering of running one or more server. This is entirely down to implementation and functionality is vendor specific.
    12) Dead Message/Letter Queues are not defined in JMS
    14) What does serialization have to do with the original point? How one chooses to serialize their content ( XML, Object Serialization, Externalizable etc..) is equally applicable to both bespoke Java coding and JMS implementations.
    To birs1982:
    JMS is merely a collection of interfaces that define how one might read and write to a topic or queue. Vendors (both open source and commercial) recognize that these interfaces alone are not enough to offer an entire middleware messaging solution and complete the offering with sophisticated management, resilience, clustering, security and other value added features. These value added features require considerable effort to get right as do things like scalability and performance.
    Given JMS like messaging is almost commodity now (just look at the amount of JMS vendors that have leaped into the ESB space) and a common (perhaps essential) infrastructure component why produce it yourself? Surely your time is better spent serving your clients and business lines rather that writing what amounts to plumbing. All the hard work has been done and the price for this hard work (depending on your requirements) is anything from free to many thousands of pounds.

  • Scheidegger Course - Java Language For the Internet

    Hi,
    I am doing the course mentioned because basically I wanted to improve my job, prospects, etc.
    However I have been disapointed with the course and wondered if anyone out there has completed it? If so did it help you improve your career? What is your opinion of it?
    I am coming to an end of the study but feel that I do not have enough to offer to get a job involving Java.
    Thx.

    Hi,
    The course consists of 11 tutor marked tests (plus a few others they throw in for good measure) and 4 practical days.
    If you know nothing about Java (as I did) then the course eases you into it gently ----> and then bang it's get's very complicated. No worry, you have a tutor to phone except mine never seemed to be good at explaining over a phone. These forums are better. The practical tutor is brilliant and is there if you get stuck in class (only mine has a room of 15 pupils and is also teaching everything and anything > eg. Microsoft Word!).
    Although I have almost done the course I feel confused about some aspects of Java and know I have only touched the basics. Really all you are doing is reading a text book and sending work off. Practical day you read a html file in a web browser asking you to complete questions. You then code and compile the solution, testing it.
    To sum this up: You won't get a job in Java from the course (like they promise)... You won't earn anywhere near what they say. However it's a good way to ease you into the language but don't go expecting a career from it. I plan on buying some books after this is out of the way.
    Another option is to buy a book from Amazon.co.uk and teach yourself and ask questions on here. The Scheidegger course is meant to be accredited though....

  • Java Source for the tools.jar class files?

    Hi
    I'm writing custom taglets within an IDE. It would be great if I could find the source for files in tools.jar. Right now I'm a bit hindered by the lack of method specifications I would get if I had the source code.
    I'm especially interested by the Tag class methods
    Thanks

    Hi,
    Tag (and everything else in com.sun.javadoc) is an interface, so there are no class (static) methods.
    What was it you were wanting to do or to know?
