Sorry dont have strong knowledge on unixEither you can run as
$cd
$. .bash_profile
or
exit the user session and re login, then automatically it will run bash profile internally.

  • How do i find the location of Oracle password file in the HDD

we giv the location of the password file while we use the orapwd command to create one.
later if we forget the location of the password file (incase it is not at the default location) then is there a way to find it or do we just create a new password file?
secondly, for oracle to use the password file we giv the remote_login_passwordfile='EXCLUSIVE' in the parameter file. wat tells oracle the location of the exact password file??

The default location are OS dependant.
On Unix/Linus it is under $ORACLE_HOME/dbs
On Windows, it is under %ORACLE_HOME%/database
To change the default location, nothing inside database, but :
On Unix/Linux, you have to create a symbolic link for that file to the target location
On Windows, you have to change env variable (regedit) ORA_PWFILE and ORA_SID_PWFILE
So, you have to check this setting for the real password file location.

  • How to locate my Oracle home in windows

    Dear Friends,
I have installed Oracle 10g database on windows but i dont know where my oracle home is present.
I also want to know how to go to Enterprise Manager console through my browser.
    Thanks

    Check registry entries for Oracle
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHIN\SOFTWARE\ORACLE - There, you'll find ORACLE_HOME environment variable
In order to start EM, start it from Windows Services or from cmd by runningn "emctl start dbconsole" command

  • Oracle Installed Files locations

    Guys,
Please explain me why Oracle stores some files (always) in C:\programFile\oracle, though we specifiy different drive/location for Oracle Home.
And whats the significance of that particualr folder and is dere any way to avoid having any oracle fiels in SYSTEM Drive...??
    Regards,
    www.techietraits.blogspot.com

On windows platforms it stores generic used files, such as those used by the Oracle Inventory and JInitiator and its own jre environment.
    - bin
    - Inventory
    - JInitiator 1.3.1.22
    - jre
    - oraconfig
    - oui
What you see installed on other directories, explicitly declared are the Oracle Home related directories.

  • Remove / Reuse Oracle Home

An installation of Oracle 10gR2 failed in silent mode. So, I ran the deinstallation script and now want to rerun the installation but I'm getting the error: "Oracle Home with name already exists at location...Please specify another location for Oracle Home." The directory where we want to install the software is empty. What is it that we are missing in order to install the software in the directory? How do we remove the Oracle_home that was not successfully used in the failed installation?
The server is a solaris server. I know how to accomplish this on a Windows platform server.
    Thanks.

There are no eroneous entries in the oratab file. At this point we are just looking to install the 10gr2 software. Here is the error that we are receiving:
SEVERE:OUI-10136:An Oracle Home with name OraDbHome2 already exists at location /u01/oracle/product/10.2.0. Please specify another location for Oracle Home.
All we are looking to do is remove any references to the directory where we want to install the software and re-run the installation.

The problem started when I turned on the computer this morning. I tried to install Mozilla 4 from your website and that installed but I still have nothing on the top.

It may be due to Firebug. Seeing as how you're a web developer, it's very possible you have this installed. The latest version, 1.7X a10, appears to cause everything you described. I downgraded to "a8" and that seems to have fixed everything.
I also recreated a profile from scratch before trying this out, so I can't guarantee it's definitely Firebug.

  • What are the Oracle Home and GRID home directory locations for Oracle 12c (12.1.0.5) release

    Hello All,
I plan to install and configure Oracle 12c Cloud Control console on a single standalone server and the version is Oracle 12.1.0.5. All the databases which are installed across in the entire farm/landscape are these versions:
    Oracle 10.2.0.3 Enterprise Edition
    Oracle 10.2.0.4 Enterprise Edition
Oracle 10.2.0.4 Active DataGuard Enterprise Edition
    Oracle 10.2.0.5 Enterprise Edition
    Oracle 11.2.0.1 Enterprise Edition
Oracle 11.2.0.1 Active DataGuard Enterprise Edition
    Oracle 11.2.0.3 RAC Enterprise Edition
All Oracle databases across these versions will use the same version of Oracle Grid since ASM is used for all the Oracle database across Production/Test/Development databases. The OS is RHEL 5.8, RHEL 6.3, OEL 6.3 versions.
When installing the Oracle 12c Cloud Control what is the Oracle and Grid Home directory location need to set to. Please let me know if there are any other additional configurations needed?
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.
    Regards,
    Abhijit

First off, the only EM CC release out right now is 12.1.0.2, not sure where you got 12.1.0.5 (DB Plugin maybe?).
Second, you're confusing EM CC homes with DB/Grid homes.
EM CC will need it's own Oracle Home (i.e. /opt/oracle/product/em_12.1.0.2).   You will need to provide repository database connection information, but EM does not care what home the db or grid is installed in.
I would recommend reviewing the documentation as well as the references on OTN -

  • Oracle reading binary files from other oracle home.

    Hi all,
I have two oracle db installed on the same server but on different oracle home.
It seems to me that the second oracle is reading the binaries from the other installation.
I can start this database and the sap instance and it starts on the correct oracle home but I see that it is reading files on the first oracle home.
for example, it saves the spfile under the first oracle_home\database directory. I started it using pfile=<the_correct_ora-home>\database\initSID.ora and set on this  init.ora file the correct path for  spfile.
But even after this if i change any parameter, it stills change the spfile on the wrong <oracle_home>\database.
Is there a way to fix this ? I mean to make the second oracle to see files under its own oracle home ?
It is oracle 11g under windows 2008.
Remember that all the environment variables is pointing to the correct oracle home and I can start SAP and Oracle as well on this oracle_home.
    Thanks in advance,
    Joao.

    Hi Orkun,
No, we don't have anything else installed yet.
Please see what I found out:
Checking those binary errors I found out that the oracle service
OracleServiceDPC (the second instance on this server) is being started from the wrong oracle_home path. Please
see the path to the executables on that service properties:
    g:\oracle\dnc\11202\bin\ORACLE.EXE DPC
It is pointing to the other oracle home DNC but starting instance DPC. How can I change that ?
Please see that the oracle home, the listener, etc is correct pointing
    to oracle home G:\oracle\DPC\11202.
I would like to disable this service and create the correct one.
    Is that possible ?
    thanks and regards,
    Joao

  • How to change trace file location in Oracle Fusion Middleware

    Hi all,
I would like to know how to change the location of the trace file in Oracle Fusion Middleware - Report Server 11g ?
I notice there is logging.xml file in $ORACLE_HOME/config/ReportServerComponenent/logging.xml. In the xml file, it did specify the location of the diagnostic file and other log files.
Is it the correct way to reconfigure the location of the log file? I havent try it though. :D
    Thanks.

    Hi Fleix,
For additional instructions for Release 11i, see Note.167635.1 and Note.150168.1.
For additional instructions for Release 11.0.3 and 10.7, see Note.148982.1 and Note.135715.1.
    a. Append the following to the end of the URL used to login to the Oracle Applications:
    ?play=&record=collect&log=/tmp/oracle.FRD.log
** Note: The self service login URL will not work for creating FRD trace files. You may need to talk to your technical team to get the URL that accesses the forms server directly.
    b. If the URL to logon to 11i applications is:
    http://machine:9603/dev60cgi/f60cgi
Then the following label needs to be included:
    ?play=&record=collect&log=/tmp/'file_name'.frd
For example to create frd for above url log in to application as
    http://machine:9603/dev60cgi/f60cgi?play=&record=collect&log=/tmp/4764802.992.frd
    c. Now log into the application and go directly to the form with the problem and perform the actions which generate the error.
Once the error has been generated and cleared, immediately log out of the application so no additional diagnostics are captured.
    d. The diagnostics will be written to the file specifed after "log=". In the example, this would be /tmp/4764802.992.frd
    e. After reproducing the issue, log on the server side of the instance and go to the directory to /tmp (cd tmp)
    f. Retrieve the frd file: /tmp/4764802.992.frd
This file contains all the details about built-in programs, triggers, procedures in a FORM
    Thanks,
    Anchorage :)

  • Locating Oracle Home

This is more of a Best Practices question
    Environment:
    Oracle 8i on Solaris
    Clariion storage array disks
    10G physical Memory
To ensure high availability and decrease the coupling with the server, we have place the oracle home not on the local scsi disks but on the storage array connected by a fiber channel.
1.Does oracle need to read binaries from Oracle home directory on a ongoing basis or is it just read and cached when the database is started?
2.Should we consider housing the udump, bdump and cdump folders out of the Oracle Home to avoid any contention?
    3. Is it always recommended to have the Oracle Home on the local drive of the server?

    Referencing your questions
3- You can place the Oracle home anywhere you want it on your disk farm. The Oracle binaries are not hit that heavily.
2- I would move bdump, cdump, and udump to their own file system to prevent their filling Oracle home with dump files.
1- Mostly the binaries are read on startup but some DLL objects may be read when needed.
Most of the Oracle related activity will be on the database datafiles. The Oracle binary is relatively unimportant from an IO point of view.

  • Oracle.prm file locations

We have changed our oracle.prm file date parameters to fix an issue similar to the error reported in message 1952314 ORA-01843 http://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1952314.  We made changes to two lines in the file under the <business object install>\dataaccess\connectionserver\oracle\extension\qt.  The changes we made were
            <Parameter Name="USER_INPUT_DATE_FORMAT">'MM-dd-yyyy HH:mm:ss'</Parameter>
            <Parameter Name="DATABASE_DATE_FORMAT">MM-DD-YYYY HH24:MI:SS</Parameter>
Question1.  What is the definition of the directory structure under oracle extensions e.g. qt?  There are multiple copies or oracle.prm containing different parameters.
Question2.  Where are these file stored for use by the WEBI rich client server install?  We need to have the user receive this custom content when they install the rich client from our server.

    Hi Roger,
The PRM files actually state the functions that are normally available in a database, including the standard format.
They are what drives the list of functions available when you build the SELECT definition or CONDITION definitions in Information designer... The fact that a function needs aggregation or/not is also determined in there.
For more info please refer the guide.

  • File locations / Oracle Managed Files / raw

    Hi,
looking into installing 10g on a multidisk Linux box and I'm trying to understand the best way to lay out the box for best resilience, performance etc.
What I'm trying to understand is whether I should use raw devices for datafiles, or Oracle Managed Files? I'm guessing for performance reasons that the ideal is to run the database server on a different drive from the OS (both of which use hardware RAID1) but can OMF sit on top of hardware RAID - what about raw device on top of hardware RAID?
If we had RAM to play with (we do) would there be a significant performance gain in having the database server run from a ramdisk, or is it better to devote the RAM to, say, a larger SGA or PGA ?
    Thanks in advance,
    Andy

    I found it:
    ALTER DATABASE ADD LOGFILE SIZE 51200K;
I had a little trouble finding it so if anyone needs it.
