Java method to call LabView on remote computer

Greetings,
I am very new to LabView and have a Java programming background.
I have to put together a way to submit a String to a LabView vi on a remote computer. The Labview should then return another String to my Java program. I just need an example of calling this on the remote computer. I've seen many looping and circular references to doing it via JNI, but not much that shows a concrete example.
Does anyone have a working example of opening the socket (or datagramsocket or whatever), writing to the socket, receiving the response and then closing the socket?

JNI won't really help for remote invocation. With JNI you would normally create a DLL for the local computer that interfaces to whatever you want to call.
But considering your mentoining of remote calls, I think it would be easier to implement on the LabVIEW side some TCP/IP server and just call that from your Java program using socket calls.
LabVIEW comes with a few networking examples. Check in the example finder for them. Doing the Java part shouldn't really be to difficult either. The fact that both LabVIEW and Java use Network Byte order by default for their flattened data also comes in handy.

Assuming you are getting stack overflows (likely if you're unfamiliar with recursive calls), you need to put some sort of check condition inside the method so it doesn't call itself endlessly (AKA "infinite recursion").

Please ignore My previous response…I have found the reason why the “start()”was not functioning properly…. The application takes some time to get distributed …Before that “start()” should not be invoked…so Please put some Thread.sleep() there….

Remote Object - not able to get the returned value from java method

     Hi ,
I am developing one sample flex aplication that connects to the java code and displays the returned value from the
java method in flex client. Here I am able to invoke the java method but not able to collect the returned value.
lastResult is giving null . I am able to see the sysout messages in server console.
I am using flex 3.2 and blazeds server and java 1.5

You are not able to get the returned value because if you see the Remote object help you will realise you have to use result="resultfn()" and fault = "faultfn()"
In this you define what you wish to do.
More importantly in the remote object you need to define which method you wish to call using the method class like this

r2 is the function where you get the result back from java and can use it to send the alert.

Unable to call exported client methods of EJB session bean remote interface

I am unable to call client methods of a BC4J application module deployed as a Session EJB to Oracle 8i at the client side of my multi-tier application. There is no documentation, and I am unable to understand how I should do it.
A business components project has been created. For instance, its application module is called BestdataModule. A few custom methods have been added to BestdataModuleImpl.java file, for instance:

It doesnt cause any errors. However, how must I call methods? The public interface RemoteBestdataModule has no such methods:

However, I cannot call getPiggyback() function! It is a protected method, it is available to the class BestdataModuleEJBClient which extends EJBApplicationModuleImpl, but it is unavailable to my class BestClients which extends Object and is intended to extend oracle.jdeveloper.html.WebBeanImpl!
It seems to me that I mustnt use RemoteBestdataModule interface directly. Instead of that I must use the public class BestdataModuleEJBClient that extends EJBApplicationModuleImpl and implements BestdataModule interface. It contains all methods required without additional arguments (see just above). However, how must I create an object of BestdataModuleEJBClient class? That is a puzzle. Besides my custom methods the class has only two methods:

I have studied a lot of documents in vain. I have found only various senseless discourses:
"Use the Application Module Wizard to make the Application Module remotable and export the method. This will generate an interface for HrAppmodule (HrAppmodule.java in the Common package) which contains the signature for the exported method promoteAllEmps(). Then, deploy the Application Module. Once the Application Module has been deployed, you can use the promoteAllEmps() method in your client-side programs. Calls to the promoteAllEmps() method in client-side programs will result in calls to the promote() method in the application tier."
However, I have failed to find a single line of code explaining how it should be called.

Can I call a built in LabVIEW function remotely?

I would like to call a bunch of LabVIEW's built in GPIB functions on a
remote computer to talk to a device attached to that computer. I was
able to do this using VI server and by wrapping the GPIB function in a
custom vi (this vi was just GPIB Write with controls and indicators)
Is there a way to avoid making a "wrapper" VI for built in functions
such as GPIB Write? i.e Open a VI reference to built-in LabVIEW
functions remotely using VI server?

Before you buy.

That is one of the built-in functions and not a stand-alone VI and the best way to call it is to create a VI with it on the block diagram.

Any way (event) to call Java method after view created in JSF 2.0

I am using JSF 2.0 Mojarra's implementation.
I am interested to know if there is a way to call Java methods before and/or after view has been restored.
I wanted to initialize data for my page in this Java method.
I could see there is an event class PostRestoreStateEvent added in JSF 2.0. How to use it?
I tired to use f:event element as below, but it does not work. Can anyone share anyother idea to achieve this behaviour?

The problem is solved as below.

The above calls the Java method #{employeeViewEventListener.postRestoreState} whenever View has been restored.
It was not working when shortName of the event (ie., postRestoreState) is given and throwing ClassNotFound exception.

How to call a C function calling a Java Method from another C function ?

I'm just starting to learn JNI and my problem is that I don't know if it is possible to call a C function calling a Java Method (or doing anything else with JNI) from another C function.
In fact, after receiving datas in a socket made by a C function, I would like to create a class instance (and I don't know how to do it too ; ) ) and init this instance with the strings I received in the socket.
Is all that possible ?

Hard to understand the question, but by most interpretations the answer is going to be yes.
You do of course understand that JNI is the "API" that sits between Java and C and that every call between the two must go through that. You can't call it directly.

In the Backend Implementation class, in any method you can call multiple RFCs.
It will be the same way as you do for the single RFC call.
Following syntax is for your reference.
Get the JCO connection
JCoConnection connection = getDefaultJCoConnection();
JCO.Function func = connection.getJCoFunction("ZXXXXXXX");
set the import parameters
Execute it.
connection.execute(func);
get the data from export / table parameters
Now call the second RFC
func = connection.getJCoFunction("ZYYYYYYYYYY");
set the import parameters
Execute it.
get the data from export / table parameters
close the connection

Looks like it is a matter of not quite the same namespace for String object.
I can get it to work by the java source containing:

Addendum:
You do not need to put java.lang.String in the java source, String will do (java.lang is by default "imported"?)
But in the PL/SQL source java.lang namespace prefix is needed - java.lang is not "imported" here.

How to call a Java method in a C consoleapplication?

I can't make an object of that class..

This goes wrong...
The problem is that I have no jobject (obj) of the class, because I don't want one...I don't need one. How can I call that void method without an object and only using the classname..??

You have to make the java method a static method, and use CallStaticVoidMethod.
"static" means that the method belongs to the class, and not an object of that class.

Is there a tutorial on - how to call static java methods

I have defined external JAVA resource using a .jar file and have successfully catalogged the same. Now I need to pass variables to a static method in a class and also get the return variable mapped into a BPM variable.
Can someone share sample Java Invokation code, how to call methods in a class, how to instantiate a singleton or reference an existing instance of singleton class.
Any sample code or sample projects will be useful.
Also can I se ethe java system.out.println output in BPM Logviewer

Hi Arvind,
Sure you've done this, but the first step is to catalog the Jar file. Before an Oracle BPM project can use the Java component, the appropriate Java JAR files must be added to the project.
Add the Jar File(s) to the External Resources:
1. Right-click the External Resources item in the Project Navigator tab
2. From the pop-up menu, select New External Resource.
3. Name this new Java resource "MyNewJavaComponents" and ensure its type is Java Class Library.
4. Add the Java jar file(s)
Catalog and Expose the Java Components:
5. Add a new module in the Catalog called "IntegrationComponents".
6. Generate a Java integration component by right-clicking the IntegrationComponents module and select "Catalogue Component" -> "Java".
7. Using the Java configuration you just created called MyNewJavaComponents, click the Next button to automatically introspect the Java libraries.
8. Select the class where your method(s) are located and click the Next -> Finish buttons to have Oracle BPM generate the integration component for you.
9. If you expand the newly exposed Java component, you can see a method has been created for each public method (attributes would also be automatically created if this class had any public attributes). If you've included the appropriate BeanInfo class in the JAR, you'll note that the method parameters are appropriately named.
How to Invoke Public Java methods Exposed in the Catalog:
10. Open the method editor for an automatic activity in the process (or any BPM Object method with its "Server Side" property set to "Yes").
11. Drag one of the Java methods you just exposed inside your IntegrationComponents module into the automatic activity's method. Once you drag it in, here's what you might see if you're using the Java syntax in Oracle BPM's method editor:
(PdfGenerator).generate(outputFilename : "", contents : { }, logoImageURL : null, signatureImageURL : null);
Assuming you have "outputFilename", "sampleContent", "logoURL" and "signatureURL" variables already created in your process, change the method you just dragged in to:
IntegrationComponents.Pdfservice.PdfGenerator.generate(outputFilename : outputFilename, contents : sampleContent,
logoImageURL : logoURL, signatureImageURL : signatureURL);
