Java Middle Tire and Oracle Form

Hi
can I call some methods from Middle tire based on java/j2ee from Oracle form 10g or oracle form 9i?

Suhaib,
check the online help or otn.oracle.com/products/forms --> collateral for the JavaImporter feature. There also exist demos on OTN that show how to use this feature.
Yes, it works.

  • J2EE and Oracle Forms

    Hi,
I'm going to develop a Web Application, one of the requirements is to use a the Java Programming Language and Oracle Database Engine.
I have read a lot of OTN Documentation about the Oracle Forms Web capabilities, and I read about the collaboration between Oracle Forms and J2EE Applicatons.
Does anybody have a link (from a Third-Party Vendor different from Oracle) containing the pros and cons of Oracle Forms (Web enabled) and a really J2EE application?
    Any comment is appreciated.

  • Error : java.lang.VerifyError: (class: oracle/forms/fd/JCalendarJinit$1,..

    Hi,
    How to solve this error:
java.lang.VerifyError: (class: oracle/forms/fd/JCalendarJinit$1, method: <init> signature: (Loracle/forms/fd/JCalendarJinit;)V) Expecting to find object/array on stack
         at oracle.forms.fd.JCalendarJinit.<init>(JCalendarJinit.java:66) ............
I edited the JCalendarJinit.java file for the JCalendar control for the Oracle Forms, I created the jar file, and when using in the forms, i am getting this error when running the oracle form,
I read, it may be version problem, How can I set the Java version to 1.3 for this java file.
    Thanks in advance,

    Jacob,
I have received complaints from users, that have got this error on some beans while migrating to Forms 10.1.2.3, even with Sun 1.6 plug-in.
The beans worked fine with 10.1.2

  • Oracle Spatial and Oracle Forms

    Hi,
Does anyone have experience with Oracle Spatial and Oracle Forms?
I have generated a form, which is based on a view. The view uses the mdsys.sdo_relate operator. Somehow I am unable to get the form to perform (to get one record it takes over 20 minutes). While useing sql-navigator to process the same statement it seems no problem. The query that also uses the view, is then processed in 10 seconds.
I also noticed that when text-functions like ' lower' of ' upper' are used to query the view, the query is processed within 15 seconds. If I don't use ' lower' or ' upper' it takes a long time (> 20 minutes) to process the query. Is it possible that this causes the bad performance of the form?
On metalink I have found that forms and spatial do not cooperate because of the pl/sql version that
forms6 uses. There is no solution presented, does anyone know of a work around?
    My configuration is:
    Oracle 8.1.7 on WIN2K @ PIII-800Mhz 256 Mb memory.
    Formsbuilder 6
If requested I can post the queries that I have made.

  • Java-style buttons in Oracle Forms 6i

    Hey there,
Does anyone know how to create buttons with curved edges in Oracle Forms 6i? Something like those Swing components in Java?
    Thanks
    Al

    Alex,
for Forms on the web you can use PJCs. The Forms 10g demos (http://download.oracle.com/otn/other/general/forms10gdemos9_0_4_2.zip) and the Forms 9i demos have a sample Java class for this. The same solution should work in 6i as well.

  • How to embed excel in java bean area on oracle forms 9i?

    Hi,

If any body knows the solution please reply.
    Best regrads,

    Hi
Is it possible to create a java bean, with a click event which populates data from database table to an excel sheet.
The data(can be obtained in a string format with delimiters, but can anyone help me in exporting this into an excel sheet). and also to provide user to take prints of the data in the excel sheet.
If Print of the JTable could be done(by settin printable as this), but this involves unwanted buttons to be printed, and entire table is not available in the spread sheet format.
    Thanks in Advance

You cannot use Internet Explorer on Windows Vista to run Web Forms.
<p>But you CAN run web forms through Netscape or Firefox. But you first need to disable Java in the browser.
<p>And to run OC4J on Vista, you need to set its compatibility mode to Windows XP.

  • Doubt with Windows and Oracle Forms 10G and 11g

    Hi
I have some doubts in installing Oracle Client on Windows.
a)Can we install Oracle Forms 10g and Reports 10g client on Windows 7?
b)Can we install Oracle Forms 11g and Reports 11g client on Windows XP?
c)If we have an Oracle Forms 11g and Reports 11g, can it connect to a 10g Server?
d)If we have an Oracle Forms 10g and Reports 10g Client, can it connect to an 11g Server?
Please, Can any one help me in this????

a)yes it can be installed on win7, may have some issues on 64bit systems but they're solvable
b)11g had some problems with windows 2000, but didn't see mention of any problems on XP
c)if you mean a database server then yes - i managed to connect 11g to an 8i database, so v10 should not be a problem. If you mean a forms/reports server..well newer forms/reports builder might not want to run old forms/reports and vice versa, but I don't see the point of operating on the same files from different versions. You can still load old form/report source files with a newer builder and recompile them to run on the new server.
    d) the "client" is effectively your web browser with a java plugin, unless I misunderstood your question. What version was a form/report compiled with should not be an issue.

  • Accesing Java Sever Page from Oracle forms 9i

    hello,
i implemented a form with one button, one bean area..
after pressing that button, i have display one jsp file in that bean area...
can anyone give me what r the requirements....
if possible give one example... very urgent..
    Naresh

    Hi ,
Thanks for replying. Let me explain the issue again.
I have my Forms application in Oracle Forms 10g using Forms builder 10.1.2 and deployed on the Oracle Application Server 10.1.2
I have got this java utility that is a bunch of jsp/html files and jar files and basically what this utilty does calls the scanner and transfer scanned image to the DB. This is an indepent java project I got from outsource and not deployed to an EAR or anything.
Now from one of my Forms, I want to call this utility and I think to get this independent utility to run I have to call its index.jsp. So I think we do this using web.show_document. Also I have to make sure the security is maintained. So the user who logs in should only use this jsp.
If I get this utility to work in a seperate browser then I can do the necessary actions and close it and return back to my form.
But my questions, the utility is a bunch of loose jsps and jar files so where do I place these files in the Application server so that my Form can call it using a url.
    2) How do I achieve the secure access to the jsp as well
    3) How do I pass the parameters to this jsp.
I have not run the jsp from my desktop so don't know that either. This utility has to be placed on the Application Server itself becauseits going to be used by many users.
    Please help.
    Thanks

  • Difference between Oracle Application Express and Oracle Forms/Reports

    hi guys,
i have just use oracle apex to create some report generation tools through the web. know that this is what is known as html db in the past.
however, i have not really touch oracle forms and reports before, neither have i really seen how they work.. but soemhow i feel oracle report/forms seems to be more.. then this oracle apex.
it includes integration with web services, java and pl/sql .
but i still cant really figure out what is the actual general main difference ?
is it that for oracle forms there can be some programming logic inside , whereas for apex , it is just using what is available from what oracle provides ..
i am read oracle form white paper, but seriously, i am not a very web guy. it has alot of components that i am not familiar with.
so i hope you guys can just give me a more general rough idea.
    regards,
    Noob.

    Hi, my .05$
... most Forms & Reports users will tend to be old installed base customers using applications developed many years ago in F&R such as insurance company cores and even banking cores. Going from client/server F&R6 to "web" F&R10g is costly as you have to license an application server and most likely need to migrate to recent versions of the DB in case the customer is still on oracle 8 (common occurrence). So many customers opt. to not migrate or to simply invest in new web enabled solutions.
Using the migration tool f&r installed base will have an easier job of migrating and at a price of whatever DB edition they are using and probably be able to do it with the same people who maintain their f&r systems provided they learn a bit about web technologies.
what might be interesting to see is performance perception of users on f&r vs. apex...

  • Can't find VBean, IView and oracle.forms.* classes

I posted this on the JDeveloper's forum, with no luck obviously.
What settings need to be changed to be able to browse through oracle.forms.* classes?. I cannot extend VBean neither implement IView; when I try to recompile the demos from OTN I get errors telling me the directory oracle\forms\handler and others alike cannot be found.
Something curious is I can compile the source in JD 3.2 version and I cannot in version 9i.
Other thing is, when I create a new project in version 3.2 I can no longer see classes in the oracle.forms package.

To get the "Javadoc" for the iview interface check the online help of Forms for iView.
You didn't mention which version of oracle forms are you using. Are you using the Oracle9iDS install?
The oracle.forms.* classes are usually under the Java directory of a Forms installation.
If you are using Oracle9i JDeveloper you should be using Oracle9i Forms as well.

    OpenScript server port is 44444
    Now then points to note:
    1) Openscript does not ship with the complete forms jars. Hence the download failure from the server (I think?).
    2) The NoClassDefFoundError java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: oracle/apps/fnd/ui/ChoiceBox makes sure the app does not appear (although outside of Openscript everything is cool!!). After an age, I found that this particular class is located is EBS11i_CrackedClass.jar which is a jar file in one of the lib directories of Openscript. On my install G:\oracleATS9\OpenScript\openscript_configuration\org.eclipse.osgi\bundles\49\1\.cp\lib\formsClient\EBS11i_CrackedClass.jar to be precise.
Question: Does this file need to be referenced by the app config?? I'm sure I'm very close to getting this working but ClassNotFoundErrors do not help.
Any input woudl be GREATLY appreciated.
    Regards
    Wayne.

    Who's a clever boy then :)
Okay, so the way I solved this was
    1) Take the frmall_jinit.jar and extract the contents which in my install contained another jar file called forms.jar.
I then ran jar cvf forms.jar to extract the contents to a directory called oracle (first part of the package name).
I them ran the same for all the jars list above which extracted the classes into the oracle directory.
    I then ran jar cvf frmall_jinit.jar .\oracle
Which (obviously) creates a new jar file with all classes. I then copied this to the g:\oracle\devsuitehome\forms\java directory.
I then ran openscript and and recorded a simple interaction with one of the form demos. (With Jinitiator set to open java console) and I got this output:

Question: I did not think you can have a jar file which contains other jar files....Openscript could not resolve the classes properly. Are nested jar's supported in Java??
    Thanks Alex et al.

  • Problem with java.sql.Clob and oracle.sql.CLOB

    Hi,
I am using oracle9i and SAP web application server. I am getClob method and storing that in java.sql.Clob and using the getClass().getName() I am getting the class name as oracle.sql.CLOB. But when I am trying to cast this to oracle.sql.CLOB i am getting ClassCastException. The code is given below
    java.sql.Clob lOracleClob = lResultSet.getClob(lColIndex + 1);
    lPrintWriter = new PrintWriter(new BufferedWriter (((oracle.sql.CLOB) lOracleClob).getCharacterOutputStream()));
    lResourceStatus = true;
can anybody please tell me the what is the problem with this and solution.
    thanks,
    Ashok.

    Hi Ashok
You can get a "ClassCastException" when the JVM doesn't have access to the specific class (in your case, "oracle.sql.CLOB").
Just check your classpath and see if you are referring to the correct jar files.
    cheers

  • How to add a new font into Report Builder and Oracle Forms/Reports Server?

    Hi,
I've searched the forum and can't find this being discussed.
My developers run Report Builder 10.1.2.0.2 on their XP laptops.
Their reports run (in production) on Oracle Forms/Reports Server 10.1.2.0.2.
This server runs on MS Windows 2003, SP2.
They've got a client who wants reports using the "Garamond Western" font.
So....how do I get this font onto the developer's Report Builder laptops, and onto the Oracle Forms/Reports Server?
I've moved various 'Garamond' fonts into C:\WINDOWS\FONTS on both the laptops and the server, but neither seem to recognize it.
    Thanks for your help.

    Thanks.
This answers 1/2 of my question.
The developer can now use Report Builder on his laptop, with the new fonts.
But when he moves this new Report to the Oracle Application Server/Forms-Reports Server, it fails to use the new fonts.
The Oracle App Server/Forms-Report Server is Version 10.1.2.0.2. It runs on MS Windows 2003, SP2.
I have installed the exact same fonts on this server, into C:\WINDOWS\Fonts.
I have used REGEDIT to change REPORTS_PATH....and placed C:\WINDOWS\Fonts; as the first value in this field.
I have then stopped and restarted the Forms-Reports Server.
