    try{
    DecimalFormat dfp = new DecimalFormat( "0.00" );
    if(!Price.equals("")) {
    float MyFloat = Float.parseFloat(Price);
    Price = dfp.format(MyFloat);

    thx for your suggestion ..but i did try to skip my code..but i am sure if u guy understand what i am trying to ask ..so i try to show my all program for u guy better undrstand my problem ...the first three paragraph of code i hope u guy could focus on it ....i try ask the user to input the cd`s title to our insert list by using a function call readString( ) and i use this method to ask the user what cd they want to be delete from the list ...but it doesn`t work when i try to perform the delete cd funtion. At first, i think it should be my deleteCd( ) problem ..but i do some testing on it..it works fine if i pass a String directly to my function instead of using readString() function to perform ...therefore, i am sure my delete function working fine....i am thinking if it is my readString() problem make my deletion does not perform well...thx for u guy help

  • Java.lang.Float

    Is the function "public int compareTo(java.lang.Float)" defined in java.lang.Float overloaded with
    "public int compareTo(java.lang.Object)"?
    A javap of java.lang.Float shows that it is so,while the compiler has a different answer.With java version "1.4.2_08",the compareTo function accepts Object as an argument, but with java version "1.5.0_06" it throws the following warning:
    LangTest.java:5: compareTo(java.lang.String) in java.lang.String cannot be applied to (java.lang.Object)This problem seems to exist for the compareTo function in all wrapper classes..

  • Using java.lang.Float.class causing Cannot format given Object as a Number

    hi,
    I have table and its model is default table model.
    model = new javax.swing.table.DefaultTableModel(data,col) {Class[] types = new Class [] {
                    java.lang.Object.class, java.lang.Object.class, java.lang.Object.class, java.lang.Float.class,  java.lang.Integer.class
                }; public Class getColumnClass(int columnIndex) {
                    return types [columnIndex];
                }};I want to force the user to enter float number to fourth column and integer number to fifth column. but I am gettin an error "Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.IllegalArgumentException: Cannot format given Object as a Number" like this. cause of this error is "java.lang.Float.class". and when I use Integer instead of Float the is no problem. Could you please help ?

    It depends on model data.

  • Printing in java? Does anyone know how?

    Um ......cant seem to find any tuorials on printing in java.
    Does anyone know how. I have a bit of text in a JTextArea that i just wanna print directly to the printer. No hassles.

    If you're trying to print in JDK 1.2 or 1.3 there is an online tutorial here:
    http://java.sun.com/products/java-media/2D/forDevelopers/sdk12print.html
    Things have drastically changed for Java 2, JDK 1.4, and the new printing API/User guide can be found here:
    http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4/docs/guide/jps/
    I have been having trouble with the locating printservices with the jdk 1.4, but it is still in BETA, so that could be the problem.

  • Java Progrramming HELP, Needed Urgently, T hanks

    hey guys,
    I have this lab I need to be done tomorrow, its been weeks lol of thinking and figuring things out can someone make it work ? Pleaseeeee !
    I feel like going out and yelling for help lol I have been trying to figure this out for weeks now.
    I am pasting my Lab and My Codes I did so far, And Please I really need this done today at any rate, all help would be kindly appreciated.
    A Java program is required that will produce a number of reports based on the data from the Product file. This file contains the product name, cost, quantity and UPC. The file name must be input. Valid data from the file will be loaded into an array.
    A menu will provide the following options: (Note there are changes from previous assignment.)
    1     Display of all valid product information including extended price and GST including totals sorted by name.
    2     Display of all invalid records sorted by name.
    3     Search and display a certain product by name.
    4     Sort by UPC and use a binary search and display a certain product by UPC. (valid records)
    9 Exit.
    Processing requirements:
    Input the data from a file and load the records into an object array. Use this object array to produce the above reports.
    Code a class definition exactly as given in the following UML.
    (For specific students: you may code the UPC as an integer but if not numeric throw an exception that is handled in main. Document your choice in your submission).
    Product
    ? Name : String
    ? UPC : String
    ? Cost : Real
    ? Quantity : Integer
    + Product (Name : String, UPC : String, Cost : Real, Quantity : Integer)
    + Calculate Extended Cost() : Real
    + Calculate GST(): Real
    Input Record:
    Product name: String
    UPC: String
    Cost: real
    Quantity: integer
    Output Reports
    1. Display of all product information including extended cost and GST including totals of these 3 fields.
    Following is a sample of the output required:
    ************************ Product Cost REPORT ****************************
    Product                    Cost Quantity Extended Cost     GST     Total Cost
    Diamond Necklace 12345678901x 54,321.99 188 10,212,534.12 510,626.71 10,723,160.83
    Tissues 98989898989x 1.99 2 3.98      0.20     4.18
    TOTALS                         10,212,538.10 510,626.91 10,723,165.01
    2. Display of all invalid records and the count.
    Following is a sample of the output required:
    Invalid UPC Records = 1
    Count Record
    1          Tiara Diamond, 12345678901x, 36020.00, 2
    3. Search and display a certain product by name. Display appropriate message if not found.
    Following is a sample of the output required:
    Enter product name: CrownJewels
    CrownJewels 99999999991x     100,000.00 1 100,000.00 5,000.00 $105,000.00
    6. Display the product information sorted by name
    Following is a sample of the output required:
    ************************ Product Cost REPORT ****************************
    Product                    Cost Quantity Extended Cost     GST     Total Cost
    CrownJewels 99999999991x 100,000.00 1 100,000.00 5,000.00 $105,000.00
    Diamond Necklace 12345678901x 54,321.99 188 10,212,534.12 510,626.71 $10,723,160.83
    Pearls      88888888881x 10,000.00 1 10,000.00 500.00 $10,500.00
    RubyRing      77777777771x 10,000.00 1 10,000.00 500.00 $10,500.00
    Tissues      98989898989x 1.99 2 3.98 0.20     $4.18
    TOTALS          (complete these values)           xxx           xxx      xxx
    Java coding requirements for this assignment
    Main methods required
    1.     Load array with all records. Display exception messages only for records that have invalid data in any of the fields. Return array of valid records and logical size.
    2.     Validate the UPC. Display each report when requested from the menu.
    3.     Justify the data in the columns. Right justify numeric fields; left justify the alpha fields.
    4.     A method for each report required in the menu.
    Class methods
    5.     Use the object method for the extended cost.
    6.     Use the object method for the GST.
    You may use additional methods in the main program but do not add any methods in the class definition.
    Use DecimalFormat for rounding.
    Create an array to hold the objects. Assume that we only need to process a file of a maximum of 500 records but the file may be larger than 500 records.
    A Universal Product Code consists of 12 digits. The first digit (from the left) is the UPC type. The next five digits are the Manufacturer code. The next five digits are the product code which is assigned by the manufacturer. The final digit is the check digit. A person can determine the check digit of a Universal Product Code by doing the following:
    Step 1: Sum all of the digits in the odd positions together.
    0+4+0+1+5+9 = 19
    Step 2: Multiply the sum from Step 1 by 3.
    3 * 19 = 57
    Step 3: Sum all of the digits in the even positions together.
    6+2+0+1+8 = 17
    Step 4: Sum together the results from Step 2 and Step 3.
    17 + 57 = 74
    Step 5: Subtract the sum from the next highest multiple of 10.
    80 - 74 = 6 [check digit]
    TEST DATA:
    Step 1: Create 5 or MORE additional records that will test all conditions. Include these in your documentation. Identify what field is tested in your test data. (Example: error in each field of the record, rounding up, rounding down, valid UPC, invalid UPC, formatting of report, file too large
    Step 2: Use the file attached.

    1) It's your problem that you waited until the last minute before you went for help...not ours. We'll give your problem the same attention as anyone elses...therefore your problem isn't any more urgent than any other problem here.
    2) I don't intend on doing your entire assignment. Nor do I intend on reading all of it. If you need help with a specific requirement, then post the information/code relevant to that requirement. I don't know how to help you when you bury the problem inside a 9 mile long essay.
    3) Post code in tags so it's formatted and readable. • How to do letter/report generation in Java....URGENT!!

    Java has been choosen to do my project, but one of my sub-part is letter/report generating. i have the letters(templete) in Microsoft Word and Word has the 'merge' document function which means that i can generate the letters by choosing the item from a specified table in Access database. e.g. the Name, Address, Date, and so on in the letter can be choosed from the database to fill in. Thus, i can generate more letters by just choosing to who i would like to send rather than typing all this same letter in routine. my problem is how to do such thing in Java. Please do not ask me to transfer to other programming language because i have do the other part in Java. Or maybe is there any suggestion for me to auto-generate letters??....Please help....is urgent!!!! i am kindly waiting for your reply. i got 1 reply that asking me to choose Word macro, may i know how??

    You need not use an applet to write an HTML file, any application file will do fine, actually applications may be prefered due to system security and file creation. Basically the html files are just text files using HTML. Look at any book on HTML and you will be able to get the style and form down along with the syntax.
    As for calling MS word, do a search on the web for a product called JPrint. It is done by a company called Neva and they also have a product called "coroutine". It is coroutine that you want. Coroutine is a native level interface for Java to Comm. The docs that come with coroutine should be saficient to get you going on the project.

  • How does Java store floating point numbers?

    Hello
    I'm writing a paper about floating point numbers in which I compare an IEEE-754 compatible language [c] with Java. I read that Java can do a conversion decimal->binary->decimal and retain the same value whereas c can't. I found several documents discussing the pros and cons of that but I can't find any information about how it is implemented.
    I hope someone can explain it to me, or post a link to a site explaining it.
    Cheers
    Huttu

    So it is a myth.
    I still ask because I observed a oddity: When I store 1.4 in c and printf( %2.20f\n",a); it I get 1.39999999999999991118. If I do the same in Java with System.out.printf( %2.20f\n",a); I get 1.4. If I multiply the variable with itself I get 1.95999999999999970000:
    double a=1.4;
    a=a*a;
    System.out.printf( %2.20f\n",a);
    {code}
    Does this happen because of the rounding in Java?

    hi,

    anyone had success. This is one of my "must have" applications
    thanks for your help

    I just started playing Warcraft quite a bit on my MBP 2008 15". I customized my MBP pretty nice with 4GB RAM, etc.
    I have generally had no problems. In fact, my MBP performs better than the rather nicely spec'd PC I used to run Warcraft on. I can set the Warcraft video settings pretty high and still get at least decent framerates. Crowded cities the FR goes down to maybe around 20 which is no biggie - where you want your FR's good is in instances/raids. My FR's in those go way up to 50-70...smooth, even with effect settings pretty high and max resolution on my external monitor I'm running the game on.
    My MBP will indeed get hot, fans whir, etc. Especially in cities. I ordered one of those Zephr's or whatever their called - a fan/heatsink built for MBP's to sit on to keep them a bit cooler. That should arrive soon.
    In the meantime I've been propping up my MPB off the desk service so that it gets plenty of air circulation underneath it...that seems to help with the heat actually quite a bit.

  • JAVA  File handling. ( Urgent  Response Appreciated)

    Hi I'm pretty new to Java. I would appreciate if any one could write programme for me for the below scenario:
    Write a Java program which accepts the name of a text file, reads in that file, and prints out the following information about the file:
    1. a list of all letters (A through Z) in that file, disregarding case (e.g. count ?a? and ?A? as two occurrences of the letter A), ordered with the most frequently used letter first and the least frequently used letter last, along with the number of times each letter was used,
    2. an alphabetized list of all distinct words in that file with the number of times each word was used,
    3. the average number of letters in a word, and
    4. the average number of words in a sentence.
    Use the following example paragraph to set up your test input text file:
    Any experienced programmer engaged in writing programs for use by others knows that, once his program is working correctly, good output is a must. Few people really care how much time and trouble a programmer has spent in designing and debugging a program. Most people see only the results. Often, by the time a programmer has finished tackling a difficult problem, any output may look great. The programmer knows what it means and how to interpret it. However, the same cannot be said for others, or even for the programmer himself six months hence.

    Hi that's not assignment question.Please do not lie. It is very not good. It is painfully obvious that that is an assignment question.
    I tried to frame
    my problem as questions so that its easy to
    understand. I cannot provide the programm becuase I
    deleted my whole programe This is another lie. That makes you zero for two thus far.
    solution. Please provide me with solution. I'm need
    of it .Stop begging like a dog.
    Start learning.
    Start here http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/java/index.html
    and don't come back until you have some basic code written.

  • KM images retrieving in Applications   ----Java gurus please help -- URGENT

    Hi,
    I am retrieving images from KM in the webdynpro application and then displaying Adobe Interactive Form with the help of the blog :
    /people/bobu.georgeputheeckal/blog/2006/12/22/getting-an-image-from-km-documents-to-be-used-in-web-dynpro
    But the images i could retreive are atmost  20kb , if the size of the image is more eg : 70kb , the image is not displaying . In the code of the blog :
    //Reading the image file……
    BufferedInputStream bufIn =
    new BufferedInputStream(resourceimg.getContent().getInputStream()); *
    byte[] imagebyte = new byte[bufIn.available()];
    bufIn.read(imagebyte);
    Wile  getting BufferedInputStream object from resource object ,,,,,,,if the size is say 70KB ,,,,it is giving problem .But if the size is less say 10KB it is ok .
    Pls anyone provide me to overcome this problem and can get byte[] ,,, and can proceed further for larger images .
    Thanks and Regards,
    Srini
    Edited by: srinivasa rao on Feb 20, 2008 6:39 PM

    Srinivas,
    I think that's because the default filesize for BufferedInputStream class is 2048 bytes.
    Change your code as follows and check if it resolves your issue:-
    BufferedInputStream bufIn =
      new BufferedInputStream(resourceimg.getContent().getInputStream(), Integer.MAX_VALUE);
    byte[] imagebyte = new byte[bufIn.available()];

  • Bat files from java application..its urgent pls help me

    hi
    My java application tries to execute the bat file, the code followes
    Runtime runs = Runtime.getRuntime();
              runs.exec("e:/customisation/test.bat");
    The bat file contains commands to copy files from one folder to another
    and some dos commands, but the commands are not executing. If i tried the bat file with some exe's like notepad its working well, but not working with dos commands.
    thanks in advance
    nisam

    Hi
    Your batch file will be working actually. But no output will be seen in the console window.
    For example I had created a batch file with the folowing code
    echo This is test
    copy test.bat test1.bat
    pause
    Even though I can't see the messages in the console, it executed when called using
    Runtime runs = Runtime.getRuntime();
    runs.exec("hi.bat");
    where hi.bat contains the above code.
    If you want to see the output messages also in the console, you have to redirect the outputstream to the current console. One such class this does is available somewhere in Java(I don't exactly remember :-( ). I think it is StreamPluginThread.java

  • Using a vector in Java IDL...URGENT!

    How can I use a vector in Java IDL? I am trying to have a function return a vector.
    From what I have read, I should use a sequence. Therefore I tried the following code:
         struct ItemDB {
              long ItemNumber;
              long Quantity;
              double Price;
    typedef sequence <ItemDB> ItemList;
         interface ProductOperations{
              ItemList listItems();
    When the equivalent Java is generated for the interface I am forced to return an array instead. This is what is generated:
    public interface ProductOperationsOperations
    ItemDB[] listProducts ();
    However, this is an array, which is bounded. I want to use an unbounded storage device.
    Can someone please please assist me. I appreciate it.
    Thanks
    RG

    This is already an unbounded sequence
    typedef sequence <ItemDB> ItemList;
    Checkout the read/write methods in the Helper class and you can see that the above list is unbounded.
