Java Runtime errors in Windows (error=2,3,...)

Hello,
I had a Java progam that makes calls to external programs (of the type of question 2 in the FAQ), but for which I have no access to the code (it is intended for Unix). I have Java installed including the docs (except search API). My question is:
error=2, error=3, error=193 are IOEXceptions which mean something like file not found, not an executable file, the processe returned an exception, etc. Where can I find a translation of those cryptic numbers in plain English, within the docs?. Searching the Internet is not efficient ... TIA
LT

Just to add some perspective:
Almost all UNIX platforms provide a file called /usr/include/errno.h (or same name in a subdirectory /usr/include/*/*.h ) as part of the baseline OS. It is only about 100 error codes and is based on the UNIX system calls. This file is provided even for those UNIX platforms (like Solaris) that do not provide any form of C compiler with the OS software (you have to pay extra for the compiler, often a lot extra). Its pedigree goes back to the origins of UNIX.
While Microsoft has a web page with their error code info, they do not provide the file is as part of the baseline OS. I agree that Sun could attempt to provide pointers, maybe as part of a FAQ on their web site. Perhaps Sun does not want to get bogged down with the complexities introduced by a major competitor's legacy issues:
ERRNO.H (for the WIN32 version, about 40 codes, for the C Runtime Library)
ERROR.H (DOS error codes, derived from XENIX, OS/2)
WINERROR.H (12,000 line header file all Win32 codes know at that time, using fields la DEC's VMS, but includes codes of ERROR.H)
I expect that Sun's implementation of System.exec() calls the Win32 API routine CreateProcess and that probably the only codes you will see returned are defined in ERROR.H

  • ITunes no longer works on my Windows VISTA system.  Get error msg saying C runtime library incorrectly... Error 7, Windows error 1114..

iTunes no longer works on my Windows VISTA system.  Get error msg saying an application is attempting to access C runtime library incorrectly... Error 7, Windows error 1114.  Same msg, or one that says unable to install, when trying to update or reinstall iTunes.  iTunes worked well up until about a month ago when this error msg starting appearing.

Go to Control Panel > Add or Remove Programs (Win XP) or Programs and Features (later)
Remove all of these items in the following order:
    iTunes
    Apple Software Update
Apple Mobile Device Support (if this won't uninstall move on to the next item)
    Bonjour
    Apple Application Support
Reboot, download iTunes, then reinstall, either using an account with administrative rights, or right-clicking the downloaded installer and selecting Run as Administrator.
The uninstall and reinstall process will preserve your iTunes library and settings, but ideally you would back up the library and your other important personal documents and data on a regular basis. See this user tip for a suggested technique.
    Please note:

  • ITunes update shows runtime error R6034/iTunes error 7/Windows error 1114. iTunes tells me to reinstall but I've uninstalled/restalled and get same error messages.

After iTunes update I see this - Runtime error R6034 "application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly".  ThenUninstalled then I also get iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes error 7 (Windows error 1114).  I've tried fixes for runtime but computer says there are no errors.  I've uninstalled/reinstalled iTunes and get all the above messages.  Now when I start up my computer the runtime error pops up, but once it is closed computer works fine until I try to open iTunes.  I've even tried a system restore going back to November.  I use iTunes for audiobooks on iPod and I'm going to get desperate soon. Any suggestion?

  • Keep getting a Runtime Error  Program Files (x86)...  R6034  An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.  Also another pop up - Error 7 (Windows error 1114)

I updated itunes.  Now it doesn't run.  I keep getting -" Runtime error Program Files (x86)...itunes helper  R6034  An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly.  Please contact support team."
Well how do you do that without owning a MAC?  This error pops up every time I start my computer.  The other pop up says Error 7 (Windows error 1114)
I have uninstalled itunes and re-installed it (I still get the pop up after itunes was uninstalled.)
I can't find a restore point before the latest update.  And I can't run itunes on my Windows 7 computer.  Any advice out there?

    Do the following:
Uninstall from Windows the following five programs: iTunes, Apple Software Update, Apple Mobile Device Support, Bonjour and Apple Application Support. You do this from an applet in Control Panel called Programs & Features (in Windows 8, 7, or Vista) or Add or Remove Programs (in Windows XP).
Download the latest version of iTunes from Apple and note the location you're saving it to so you can find it once it's done.
Run the iTunes installation as an administrator, just Right click iTunes installer and Run as Administrator.

  • I tried downloading the new update for itunes I get these error messages: Visual C   runtime library R6034 an application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly Error 7 windows error 1114.  What should I do to correct this?

I tried downloading the new update for my desktop PC I get the following error messages:
    Visual C++ Runtime library
    R6034
an application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly Error 7 Windows Error 1114

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.

  • TS1424 Runtime Error! R6034 Error 7 (Windows error 1114)

Today (27/01/2014) I installed the latest available iTunes and iCloud Control Panel updates, restarted my laptop etc, now when I click to open the iTunes programme, a Windows dialogue box appears saying "Runtime Error! R6034 An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly. Please contact the application's support team for more information." When I click 'OK', another dialogue box appears saying "iTunes was not installed correctly. Please reinstall iTunes. Error 7 (Windows error 1114)"
I am reluctant to uninstall iTunes as I have a lot of music on there from CDs that I no longer own and with nearly 3000 songs in my library I do not want to have to try and get everything back on there. Can someone please give me some guidance as to whether this is a fault with my laptop or an error with Apple, and if all my music will be wiped by uninstalling and reinstalling iTunes. Thanks.
    Ally

    Hey there AllyBaxter,
It sounds like you have installed the latest iTunes update and now you cannot launch the program without this error message. First, before any troubleshooting is done you can use this article to find out the location of your iTunes library and back it up:
Where are my iTunes files located?
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1391
I would next use the troubleshooting from the following article to troubleshoot the iTunes error message you are getting:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows: Unable to install or open
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS5376
"Runtime Error: R6034 - An application has made an attempt to load the C runtime library incorrectly"
Follow these steps to resolve the issue:
    Check for .dll files
Go to C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes and C:\Program Files\iTunes and look for .dll files.
If you find QTMovie.DLL, or any other .dll files, move them to the desktop.
    Reboot your computer.
Note: Depending on your operating system, you may only have one of the listed paths.
    Uninstall and reinstall iTunes
Uninstall iTunes and all of its related components.
Reboot your computer. If you can't uninstall a piece of Apple software, try using the Microsoft Program Install and Uninstall Utility.
    Re-download and reinstall iTunes 11.1.4.
Uninstalling iTunes should not compromise your library, but having a back up of your library is always a good idea.
Thank you for using Apple Support Communities.
    All the very best,
    Sterling
