Java RunTime

Question

I am trying to use the following command to launch a particular file from a user interface with java.
Runtime.getRuntime().exec("...Command...")
This works fine as long as I have a string literal inside the brackets.
eg. exec("C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE" + "File to display")
The problem I have is that the program creates the file to be displayed so I cannot use a string literal.
I am trying to do something like -
String fileName = " Filename to be displayed"
exec("C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE" + fileName);
but for some reason this won't work - does anyone have any ideas on how to get around this

I think you should / instead of \ which is the escape char.Dont forget the last "/" on the path.
I tried this code snippet, and it worked. Try it.
try
{String filename = "Textpad.exe";
       Runtime.getRuntime().exec("c:/Program Files/TextPad 4/" +   filename);
catch (IOException ex)
{}
