Java Script displaying wrong only in Firefox/3.6.13

Reference this site: http://holidayisland-ar-weather.us/
The date box is mis-aligned and the year is screwy! Works fine in IE and html editor view.

The site uses getYear() instead of getFullYear(). getYear() will count years from 1900 and thus 2000 shows as 100.
<pre><nowiki>if (amonth < 10)
date += "-0" + amonth + "-" + adate.getYear();
else date += "-" + amonth + "-" + adate.getYear();
</nowiki></pre>

  • Java Script doesn't work on Firefox 8?

I have noticed that (some) Java Script does not work on Firefox 8.0. Is there a correction for this?

Yep, go back to what works, appears to be the only real solution. But then you'd hardly be able to use Firefox as nothing is going to get fixed there only get broken.
    What does not work is
    # move, and resize of main window not allowed
    # that include wiping out a lot of keyword shortcuts that do that
    # various additional collateral damage
The solutions (work arounds) that I can best offer are clumsy but can be found in

  • Java Script not workring in Mozilla Firefox 3.0 but working in IE.

    Hi All,
In my project we have few java script code which is working fine with Internet Explorer but not working in Mozilla Firefox 3.0. I have checked and found that it's not able to recognize option tag(used for getting index in Select control). Is there any alternate way to use this tag? Please help on this which would work fine in both browsers.
    Thanks in Advance.........

Javascript is not the same as Java. Only the first four letters are the same and the syntax is somewhat simliar, but there is certainly nothing more the same.
Try a Javascript forum. There are ones at webdeveloper.com and dynamicdrive.com. Good luck.

You can try these steps in case of issues with web pages:
Reload web page(s) and bypass the cache to refresh possibly outdated or corrupted files.
*Hold down the Shift key and left-click the Reload button
    *Press "Ctrl + F5" or press "Ctrl + Shift + R" (Windows,Linux)
    *Press "Command + Shift + R" (Mac)
Clear the cache and cookies only from websites that cause problems.
    "Clear the Cache":
*Firefox/Tools > Options > Advanced > Network > Cached Web Content: "Clear Now"
"Remove Cookies" from sites causing problems:
    *Firefox/Tools > Options > Privacy > Cookies: "Show Cookies"
Start Firefox in <u>[[Safe Mode|Safe Mode]]</u> to check if one of the extensions (Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Extensions) or if hardware acceleration is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox/Tools > Add-ons > Appearance).
*Do NOT click the Reset button on the Safe Mode start window.

  • Mozilla is lying when it says Java Script is unnecessary for the avcrage user.Java script is not working in Firefox 7.01

I want to roll back to an earlier version Firefox that works with Java Script how can I do this. Where I can download an earlier version? You know what the problems are. I am NOT going to list them. Own up to your errors. You made an incorrect conscious decision to break with Java compatibility.

Mozilla is not lying about average users, but it shows contempt for experienced users, or those that want to be able to get the more out of their browser, or use it for work or school.
Java and JavaScript are not the same thing. I trust you are referring to JavaScript problems and a lot of collateral damage associated with the mess.
    # Prohibition on Webpages being able to resize or move windows with JavaScript
    # Prohibition on Users being able to move or resize windows with JavaScript
    # Ignoring the fact that there were already user controls in Tools > Options > Content > Javascript > Advanced
    # Making JavaScript inoperable from Location bar as a command, or in a keyword shortcut that involves moving resizing windows
    # Destroying use of AwesomeBar search, Bookmark searching for bookmarks containing JavaScript, making internal searches very unreliable
Firefox 8 comes out November the 8th and it nor later versions show any reversal of this mess.
Firefox 3.6.* should remain safe to use for some time, as corporate users will not put up with nonsense when they support thousands of users.
For those that really need an older version of Firefox [ftp://ftp.mozilla.org/pub/firefox/releases releases] (all releases, including 4.0.1 and 5.0) or with the latest of [http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html Firefox 3]. Mac OSX 10.4 users can't upgrade to 4.0.1
When you reinstall a different version, at the end of the install, don't let the install start Firefox for you, rather exit, and then start Firefox in the normal manner to avoid inadvertently creating and using a new profile without your bookmarks, etc.
What would be better would be to use multiple versions / profiles at the same time, which is certainly beyond average users, particularly when Mozilla has historically and purposely made such things difficult. But if interested see [http://kb.mozillazine.org/Using_multiple_profiles_-_Firefox Using multiple profiles - Firefox - MozillaZine Knowledge Base]

  • Java.lang.NullPointerException? only on firefox? HELP

ok, so while running any java applets, i get this error
    java.lang.NullPointerException
    at com.sun.deploy.net.proxy.DynamicProxyManager.reset(Unknown Source)
    at com.sun.deploy.net.proxy.DeployProxySelector.reset(Unknown Source)
    at sun.plugin.AppletViewer.initEnvironment(Unknown Source)
i am not a java coder, i am just trying to use java applets created by people.
the strange thing is, this only happens on mozzila firefox, and only on my one desktop, someone else who has a desktop on my computer can run java perfectly! PLEASE HELP! how can i fix this so i can use java applets?

I had exactly this same problem appear from out of the blue a week ago.
The solution for me was to reset the general.useragent.override config parameter.
To be precise, I opened the about:config page, searched for and found the general.useragent.override parameter, right-clicked it and selected the "reset" option. The value was thereby replaced with an empty string, like "", and after I closed and re-opened firefox even the base entry for general.useragent.override was gone.
Considerable time was spent on this problem, and none of the following made any difference: un/reinstalling the JRE, un/reinstalling firefox, deleted various java directories from c:\ such as in program files, temp, windows, application data, etc.
Curiously, using the Java control panel config tool to change Network Settings did have some effect. Selecting Direct Connection for proxy settings would eliminate the nullpointerexception, but also disable the java plugin. the error could be recreated simply by opening the Java Console from within firefox, and typing the "P" command, which reloads the proxy configuration.
For those who may care to research this further, my exact useragent override string was, between the quotes: "Mozilla/4.0 (Macromedia Flash Player 8/8;compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.1; (R1 1.5); .NET CLR 1.1.4322) " Now, that parameter was set months ago, and java applets had been working fine until just recently, so clearly there is some odd combination of problems at work. I can't help but suspect some automatic update, perhaps to firefox 2.0.0.7, was responsible?

  • Authentication on Display Templates only in FIreFox

I have an issue right now where I'm building a public facing SP 2013 solution. All visitors on this site will be anonymous. Hence we only have anonymous access enabled in IIS. I've of course made all anonymous settings on the SP site and enabled anonymous
access to the master page gallery.
But I'm struggling with FireFox. All is working fine with IE and Chrome. But in FireFox I get an authentication required when it tries to download the js display templates in the master page gallery.
I've tried every possible solution I could think of, so I'd be very grateful for any suggestions or ideas.
    Thank you.

    Hi,
I can suggest you do as follows:
    1. Enable NTLM authentication with Firefox core configuration.
    http://yalla.itgroove.net/2011/12/firefox-friday-3-sharepoint-login-prompts-on-firefox/
    2. Change the disable loopback check in the registry.
    http://blogs.technet.com/b/sharepoint_foxhole/archive/2010/06/21/disableloopbackcheck-lets-do-it-the-right-way.aspx
For a better user experience, I recommend to use IE to access the SharePoint site.
    Best Regards

    For JavaScript
: Tools > Options > Content > (turn on) JavaScript
For Java, verify if you have Java:

  • Not only does Adobe flashplayer continue to crash on my operating system (windows 7) but now java script is having issues .... what is wrong with firefox????

for months I have checked the forums, and seen the same issues with Adobe Flash Player ... I have uninstalled and reinstalled too many times now and am totally frustrated with Firefox,. I just get it working again and Firefox updates and then I have the same issues ... and now my java script is screwing up and it never did before .... this all came after the latest update .... is anyone else having these issues or is my operating system under attack???

Recent crashes of certain multimedia contents (this includes Youtube videos, certain flash games and other applications) in conjunction with Firefox are most probably caused by a recent Flash 11.3 update and/or a malfunctioning Real Player browser plugin.
In order to remedy the problem, please perform the steps mentioned in these Knowledge Base articles:
[[Flash Plugin - Keep it up to date and troubleshoot problems]]

  • Internet explorer allows me to open certain information/tabs which are somehow connected to java script but Firefox won't. This just started happening a few days agoyet my javca script is enabled. what is the problem/fix. I'm a novice with computers

I am not sophisticated at understanding computer language. What I know is that 3 things have happened in the last 2 weeks.
1.My yahoo account which I go to from Mozilla firefox 4.0.1 now requires me to click on a link that says it disables updates. Then my homepage seems to be ok/normal except:
2.One of the email links tries to open a site called Ok Cupid and that site is really distorted and unreadable
    3. another website www.texastrails.org has a tab called 'docs' which can be reached from "member portal". There should be documents in Word and adobe reader on the left side of the screen which can be opened normally. These do not exist now and the texas trails webmaster says it has to do with Java Script. (it does open in Internet Explorer)
Why would these two sites open in IE but not firefox?
Note that I went to "My Computer" and found I have environment 5.0 Java6 update 24 and J2SE Runtime environment 5.0update 6 on different lines. I have no clue what these mean:-)
I also click on Firefox "tools" and see that java is checked/enabled.

This is not an answer. I have the same problem, what gives? None of the "solutions" have worked. The only thing left I haven't tried is resetting my IP an disabling my routers firewall, which is dangerous. Guess I might just keep on using IE instead, sure it's annoying, but hey it works.

  • I just downloaded and instaled firefox 4. Now, everytime I institute a command I get a po[p-up from Java script that tells me to uninstal set. I cannot go on untin I press ok and then I am good for one more command and it starts with the pop-up again.

I'm not even sure if this is an extension or plug-in and all I can tell you is what I have already stated. I can only make one command at a time and after each one I get a pop-up from Java script that says uninstal set. I must depress ok to move on, but only for one more command and it starts over again. This also happened when I tried to instal firefox 4 a couple months ago and I deleted the program and went back to an earlier version.

  • I downloaded Firefox Optimized for Yahoo on my PC and get an error message about every 15 seconds: Java Script/ Uninstall set. I deleted Firefox and did a new download/installation and am getting the same problem.

:I went to Mozilla's website and downloaded the Firefox Optimized for Yahoo, following the directions. The download installed easily, but when it opened my Yahoo web page (I already had an account with them), the Java Script error message "Uninstall set!" immediately began alerts, and kept repeating the alert about every 15 seconds. I got the same result even after uninstalling Firefox and downloading a fresh installation. I am only getting this alert via Firefox; I do not get it when using my Yahoo page with Google. Thanks.

I'm having a problem with firefox playing background music on some sites, it works with IE and other browsers but not with fire fox, what html or java script do I need to add to the pages so that they play the music?
I develop my pages in Front Page and I know that the music only works in IE, so if someone can tell me how to correct this problem as it is important as I use fire fox as my main browser.
    I thank you in advance

If a website uses BGSOUND then it will only work in IE.
BGSOUND is not compatible with other browsers like Firefox.
