Java Task Bar always on Top

I need to be able to create my own task bar which is a Frame that will be positioned
always above the Windows task bar and will never be obscured by the windows of other
appications (Task Manager accepted).
I have seen many postings on tis group what explain how to have a frame always on top
but how can I state where on top with reference to the task bar?
TIA
Steve

I dont want to get rid of the task bar but to be able to create an own window which isn in effect
an own task bar that sits directly above the existing Task Bar if it is visable or if not, then it sits along
the bottom of the screen mimicing a task bar but with the controls that I want to provide fo rmy specific
application.

You see the orange (on Linux gray) Firefox button if the Menu Bar is hidden, so you need to hide the Menu bar to get the new appearance.<br />
If you need to access the hidden Menu bar then press F10 or hold down the Alt key to make the Menu Bar appear temporarily.<br />
You can place the Tab Bar on top.
    * View > Toolbars : [ ] Menu Bar
    * View > Toolbars : [X] Tabs on Top
The Tab bar only appears on the title bar if the Firefox window is maximized.

  • In OS 10.10 Yosemite can we get App Task Bar always

In the new OS when running an apps like Pages or Numbers the Task bar ( File, edit view, etc) is not showing until you mouse up to the top of the screen. Is there an option setting anywhere to make it work the way it did in the older systems so the task bar is there all the time?

I loved it!!  Now, after some repairs necessitating a clean system install and, thus, upgrading to

From your description, I think you simply have been using Dashboard all along. Open System Preferences -> Mission Control and click on 'Hot Corners'. Click on the lower right menu and select Dashboard.
If Dashboard doesn't show up as a transparent layer for you, also in Mission Control preferences deselect the option 'Show Dashboard as a Space',

  • When I updated my graphics driver to version 7.15.10.1666, as suggested in troubleshooting info, it effect the way everything including my task bar and desk top icons were displayed, what can be done to correct this ?

Everything became smaller. Page displays had wide borders, print was far too small.

I seem to have fixed it by putting <div  class="clearfloat"></div> after the navigation bar?

  • Windows 8 taskbar always on top?

    Hi,
Taskbar appears to be on top in Windows 8 whenever I got into full screen - pdf., movies, presentation.
My display is on 'Larger - 150%'.
However, this happens only recently and I have no clue why. It used to be working even the display was on 150%.
    I hate the auto-hide option..
    Please help!

I have this problem too. It is not a graphics driver issue. In previous versions of windows, this was a selectable option for the task bar. Now it is default with no visible option to change it. Even with the task bar set to autohide on, it just retreats
to the edge and if you bring your mouse cursor too close to the edge, the task bar pops up. What we want is to know how to set the task bar so that all other applications are on top of it, unless the task bar is what we have selected as the active focus object.
It has absolutely nothing to do with the task bar position and everything to do with it's disposition. Please help. I often have applications running in full screen borderless window mode and with the task bar always floating on top, it gets annoying when
I need to use buttons at the bottom of the screen in the application I have as the active focus only to find the task bar has popped back up and is in the way, often causing me to lose focus with application I am trying to use. For people who don't use autohide,
it's even worse, because the task bar is always there. We want it to stay UNDER our focused apps until we alt-tab out and select the taskbar. I tried modding the reg file, but the structure for this "feature" has changed since windows 7 and earlier
versions. It is just one more feature Microsoft removed from windows, that we the users want restored.

  • Windows 7. Task Bar

I have my Task Bar set to Auto Hide.
When I run iTunes it makes the Task Bar always visible. After iTunes is closed the Task Bar is still always visible.
I can set the properties of the Task Bar to Auto Hide until I am blue in the face and it won't change.
The only way to fix the problem seems to reboot. Anyone have any ideas. It annoys me!

Additional observation:  The Taskbar disappears when the computer goes to sleep or hibernates.  Upon waking it , the desktop reappears minus the Taskbar.  No known methods to reinstate theTaskbar seems to work.  As a workaround, I have lengthened the time  before the computer turns off the display or goes to sleep to avoid the inadvertent loss of the Taskbar.
Is this a power management issue?  Or is something causing the Taskbar to move to the background behind the screen wallpaper?  Suggestions please.

  • Grey ghost balls in task bar

Today I have seen something new and strange.  In the center of my task bar at the top of the screen about 1 inch apart are two pale gray ghost like circles or balls.  They are about 1/2 the height of the task bar.  They just sit there and do nothing and if yoiu put your pointer on them nothing happens but they are just there.  Does anyone have any idea what or where these came from?  Never seen them or anything like this on any of my mac products till today.  It is on my 15" MBP.   Thanks for any help with this puzzle!

Here is a screen shot of what I am seeing.

  • Why can I only see the iTunes Task Bar on my Mac?

I am a new Mac user.
I tried to sync the music on my iTunes on my iPhone 4 with my Apple Macbook Pro last night and got some error messages.
Today when I click on the iTunes icon on the Mac I can only see the iTunes task bar accross the top of the screen.
What has happened and what can I do about it?

If you mean that you see only the iTunes bar and nothing else, not even the normal menus, you probably have iTunes in full-screen mode. Press the Escape key or move your cursor to the very top of the screen, then click the blue double-arrow icon at the very upper-right corner:
    Regards.

  • Task bar on top = bugs

Ok, this is a bug that goes back to Windows95.  Yes you heard me.
Little background, I was always a Mac/Amiga guy.  The first time someone showed me Win95 I went "why is the menu bar at the bottom that makes NO sense" and the guy demo'ing it said "well you can put it at the top" - sweet problem solved.
I have always used Windows95+ with the taskbar on top, where it belongs.
Problem is, many programs open up with their window all the way at the top of the screen.  Guess what this does?  Yep, it hides the menu/drag bar, the "close" buttons, etc..  You can't even drag the window down lower because YOU CAN'T SEE THE TOP which is what you have to grab to drag it!
The ONLY solution is to "unlock" the task bar, drag it to the bottom/side, move the offending window, and then replace the taskbar at the top.
W7 is no different.  It doesn't "reserve" the top of the screen for the taskbar, it happily lets programs open their windows "under" the taskbar where you can't get at their drag/close/minimize/etc buttons.
    PLEASE FIX.

    Hi,
The behaviors you encountered occur if you set Taskbar to always on top of all the windows.
Right-click on Taskbar, choose Properties, and uncheck "Keep the Taskbar on top of other windows".
Then, if part of your window is covered by Taskbar, just click on the window and it will on the top.

  • Docking Java Application like task bar

    Hi,
does anybody know if it's possible to dock a Java Application like a task bar on the desktop (Windows).
I Have a flat CTI Application which I want to anchor on the top of the Desktop so that no other Application can overlay my application. I think when it is possible it can be only a native solution???
    Thanks

I'm not sure I understand the question. By default when you create a JFrame it is added to the windows task bar.
Maybe you are using a JDialog. In this case I don't think it can be added to the task bar.

  • Firefox always opens a new window when i click the icon on my task bar...this is new and I would like it to say in the same window How?

I have a firefox icon on my task bar. Before this latest install, I would click the icon and Firefox would come up directly. Now it opens another firefox window. I don't want this. How can I change it back?

Click on the spotlight icon in the top right of your screen (looks like a magnifying glass), type
    Terminal
    and press 'return'.
In the window that opens up, paste or type this exactly into the window
    killall Finder; killall Dock
(that's case sensitive) and press 'return'.
You'll notice the Dock disappear for a second or two then return, as do any open Finder windows.
Test using Finder as normal. Same problem?

  • Firefox is running in lower task bar but will not open on desk top.

I click on the desk top short cut and the fire fox symbol shows up in the lower task bar and task manager shows firefox running but it isn't running on the desk top.

In the Task Manager, make sure to check both the Applications tab and the Processes tab. On the Processes tab, Firefox may have two different components running: firefox.exe and plugin-container.exe. Well, in 3.5.11, it would be only the first one.

How can I start or open Firefox?

    HI SBPARK,
When you installed Firefox, did you uncheck the option to create a short cut?
In order to pin to the toolbar, when you have Firefox open, right click on the icon in the bar and select "Pin to task bar".
