Java tools and frameworks for BEA WL6.1

Hi,
Are there any additional developer frameworks that ship
with BEA WL 6.1 Enterprise Server? For example, are
there frameworks for handling logging, performing
exception handling etc.?

No even if I don't add anything it doesn't uninstall bea home. It
leaves it and apparrently any associated bea home directory registry
entries. As to the second problem, I will try increasing my java heap
size. I don't think that I have tried that yet, but the brain isn't
as sharp as it was....

The installation keeps track of all files installed. When you uninstall
it only removes files from the original installation that are not in use.
If you have new files (like log files or application files) uninstalling
won't remove them. This is probably what you are seeing. You will have
to remove these files manually after the uninstall.
I haven't tried editing the registry lately, but it looks like the bea
home list is kept in HKEY_LOCALMACHINE\SOFTWARE\Bea Systems\BEAHOMELIST
I don't know that deleting this will gain you anything.
As for your OutOfMemory exceptions, did you try increasing your java heap?

Upgrading from Endeca IAP 2.1.0 to Tools and Frameworks 3.1.1

We are using Merchndizing workbench 2.1.0 and planning to migrate to Tools & frameworks 3.1.1
Tools and Frameworks migration document is saying that it is not supporting the migration.
Did anybody tried this migration?

Hi Kishore,
I have done a couple of upgrades, first I suggest you upgrade to 3.1.2 instead of 3.1.1. 3.1.2 fixes a few issues, didn't impact APIs (thus any coding efforts underway), and also includes sample migration scripts for Page Builder/Experience Manager. 3.1.1 did not have those.
These scripts are samples only as every deployment can be so different and with varying complexity. Thus this is your starting point. You mention IAP - that probably means you don't have Experience Manager and only Rule Manager so this won't be as interesting to you.
Next, both 3.1.1 and 3.1.2 include out-of-the-box migration scripts for Rule Manager rules, thesaurus, and keyword redirects. This script has worked well in my opinion. There are a few gotchas that you will encounter - the cartridge templates it creates are not always clean or model the rules the way you would like.
Yes, they don't explicitly support the 2.1.0 to 3.1.1 migration, so you need to upgrade to 2.1.2 first. This is trivial and I would just include this step as part of your overall migration plan. Most likely you will be upgrading Platform Services at the same time and you have to upgrade MDEX (you are probably running 6.2.2 or lower). Upgrading MDEX alone gave us 10% faster query responses when running in backwards compat mode - so we upgraded both of those components almost immediately and then worked on the Workbench migration.
There are lots of details to work through for this migration - even if you are not using rule manager or page builder/experience manager.

Framework provide you with extension points where you can get or use its underline infrastructure. Basically you built your application on top of frameworks (eg: struts), while you use tools for specific services/help (eg: build tools)

Need Toshiba tools and utilities for my Satellite A660-149

Tools and Drivers for Sun Fire x2200 M2

Does any one have an extra Tools and Drivers Disc for a Sun Fire x2200 M2? Or have the ability to give me an iso for it.
Oracle has locked down the ability to download a copy unless your under support which I highly doubt is legal considering that you can't do several things without the disc.

Cretaing my own profile and framework for ICWebclient.

I have created my own profile X by cpoying default profile and also copied the framework into my own framework called Y.
Assign the my framework Y to the profile X.
i assigned X(profile) to the position.
When im testing the ICWebclient am getting the following exception.

i could not understand where am wrong. Can anybody tell me the steps to create my own default profile and framework assign it to the position or is there changes to be done in the framework Y.
i have tested the icwebclient by assigning the default framework to my profile X then its working fine without any exception but if i assign my framework Y to the profile X then its throwing the above error.
Could anybody please suggest me....

The QuickTime Player is not fully compatible with all Levels. It's not even documented what it does support. But it's even more complicated than that. Java tools or toolkit for Contract-first Web services development

I have just started on Web Services and during my internship I was encouraged to develop Contract-First web services inspite of the fact that the Java implementation is available in place. I was trying to search internet for any tools that have the facility to generate the WSDL given the XML schema in Java, but in vain.
So I have come here to the place of Java experts to guide me if there are any such tools for generation of WSDL from the xsd schema.
PS: I cannot use Code-first even though the Java implementation is already available to me even though it is more wide-spread and has tools available.

Problem with Java Dates and UPDATE for SQL2000

I am having problems with the date formats for Java. I am trying to put the current date time into a SQL table, here it the code I am using:

Please tell us where the Java part of this comes in. I see that you are using JavaScript to load up data via an ADO connection (presumably on an IIS platform) - but I do not see where you are using Java

Stress test tool and guidelines for tuning ADF 11g

Hi all,
I am working our ADF 11g application on load & stress testing. The load test works fine with some millions of full dummy rows (this generated data tool is easily written by ourself). The tunning only was done with only indexing. But with stress I'm concerning with RAM and other tunning parameters such IO and share pool from OS to DB and to WL servers and how to tune it for around 200-300 concurrent connections. I'm studying Jmeter for this purpose but still not get the answer. I have tested with Oracle Openscript but it worked very heavily slow :(.
The question here is that do you have any experiences on tuning parameters for such requirements and what is the best automatic test tool for testing multi-connections, please advise me.

Tools and Script for stopping and starting SAP instances in the landscape

Hi All,
All our SAP system are on Windows 2003 and very few on Windows 2000.
Is there any possiblity for having a script which will stop and start SAP on all the instances in the Landscape from a central system?
Lets say we have some 200 SAP instances and we need to down all the instances for Windows patching.
In this case, we need to manually take remote desktop to stop and start all the instances one by one.
Also, do we have any 3rd party automated tools for this purpose?

Photoshop slice tool and Save for Web image quality. Will it affect prints?

I want to slice a large photo into multiple smaller (4x6) printable photos to arrange in a 12x12 inch scrapbook binder pocket (made of of 4x6 pockets). I need to order separate 4x6s online so tiling in the print options is not what I need.
The slow way I know to do this involves cropping and saving each section (maybe even recording this action to do batch processing). However, another way is to use the slice tool to quickly divide up the sections then "Save for Web...". I can adjust some parameters, but I'm afraid there are other automatic adjustments that I don't want. For example, all images are converted to 96 dpi instead of the original 300 dpi. The number of pixels remains the same so I don't think there will be problems printing the picture.
My question is: does the Save for Web function reduce image quality in any way when printing (it is obviously intended to be used to optimize images for websites)? Are there settings in "Save for Web" that would optimize for high quality prints? Is there a better way to tile an image?
I have not yet compared any prints.

If you understand that something will do something you do not want like convert to 96 DPI as long as it does not resample you can always convert back to 300 DPI. If you want 6 4x6 to form a 12x12 you must start with an square 1:1 aspect ratio image. That you resample to 12"x 12" at 300 dpi if you want 6 4x6 300 dpi images.
If the original images vary in size and aspect ratio you need to crop them square or add two borders to make them square. The rest is easy to do with an action.
The square crop or border can be automated with a little scripting. If crop a center crop would be the route to go. My crafting actions package contains more the a dozen scripts to be used within action. One is a plug-in script that would make center cropping a snap two steps menu File>Automat>AspectsRatioSelection followed menu Image>Crop. Add a menu Image>Size set side to 12" and resolution 300 DPI and you have your starting 12"x12" 300 dpi image.
Flatten the image make your first 4"x6" selection copy past to add it as a layer. Select the background select the next 4x6 area copy and paste repeat that process till you have added the 6 4"X6" layers. Then delete the background, Select all, target all layers and use layer>Align layers to selection>Top edge then repeat align to left edge. the Image>Trim you have your 6 4x6 in a stack. You can the use Adobe Photoshop Script Export Layer to file. All automated in an action however the last step Export layers to files is interactive for its not a plug-in script. So if you batch it you keen to hang around to interact with the last step for each image.
You could also write you own export script that would not need human intervention to use instead of Adobe interactive script.

No Oracle Developer Tools and Datasources for VS2012 Update 3

Hi all
I am using VS2012 Update 3 and I have installed Oracle 11.2.0.3.20 32 bit successfully. Unfortunately, the tools are not showing up in the VS About Dialog, nor do I have the Oracle Datasources in VS.
Any help appreciated.

Thanks for reply. Yes I did install this exact version. The funny thing is that I can open a project in VS2012 (created in VS2010 with the 11.2.0.3 version on an other box) on my machine and the VS2012 EF designer opens correctly when double clicking on the .edmx file. The Oracle Client data providers however do not show up ( and therefore I cannot recreate the model from the database). Also the About dialog does not contain the VS Oracle tools. Build and run however works, as well deployment to an IIS/R2008 server where 11.2.0.3 is installed.
The ifile is a parameter in the tnsnames.ora file to reference other tnsnames.ora. That is the way we reference the company wide tnsnames.ora on a shared drive. This does not work in the 12.1 ODT version.

IMHO the uninstalling of the 12.1 and reinstalling 11.2.0.3 somehow screwed up the registry or whatever. I am quite familiar with VS and also the command line switches, I did all I could (/resetsettings, etc), but nothing helped. Also a repair of VS2012 did not help. After the not working 11.2.0.3 I tried to reinstall 12.1, but with no success. I always did an uninstall and a reboot in between each installation/uninstallation.
Another question, this installer looks a bit outdated, did Oracle ever think about using newer ways of providing such an installer ( NuGet, and/or vsix) ?
