Java update issues

I've been noticing many systems not properly reporting java updates.
My system (win7 pro xp64) has java 1.6.0_25 (32bit) installed, but ZCC patch tab doesn't show that I have any java installed. if I search Java, and have all options chosen I see the following:
Package is not cached Sun Java JRE 1.5.0_18 for Windows (64Bit) (All Languages) Software Installer No
Package is not cached Sun Java JRE 1.5.0_18 for Windows (All Languages) Software Installer No
Package is cached Sun Java JRE 1.6.0_16 for Windows (64Bit) (All Languages) (Rev 2) Software Installer No
Package is cached Sun Java JRE 1.6.0_21 for Windows (64Bit) (All Languages) (See Note) (Rev 2) Software Installer No
Package is cached Sun Java JRE 1.6.0_21 for Windows (All Languages) (See Note) (Rev 2) Software Installer No
Package is not cached Sun Java JRE 1.6.0_23 for Windows (Update) (All Languages) (See Notes) (Rev 2) Recommended No
Package is cached Sun Java JRE 1.6.0_24 for Windows (Update) (All Languages) (See Notes) Critical No
I have updates 25 and 26 all versions cached.
Have another w7pro x64 system with update 26 installed, and it shows all versions required, including 26.
Another system (xp 32bit) has 1.6.0_22 installed, and shows that 21, 23,24 are unpatched. doesn't show any listing for 25 or 26.
On the XP system, here are the Java entries from the zpm debug log:

  • View object programmatic Java update issue!

    hi all,
    i have a problem with my code this code use to work like a month or 2 ago but now there is something wrong if someone can clear it out for me or just give me someinsight on some possible solutions I would be really happy.
    here is the part of the code that does not function:
    String amDef = "database_view.AppModule";
    String config = "AppModuleLocal";
    ApplicationModule am = Configuration.createRootApplicationModule(amDef, config);
    ViewObject peopleView = am.findViewObject("MANUAL_People_Query1");
    Key personKey = new Key(new Object[] { personid });
    Row[] personFound = peopleView.findByKey(personKey, 1);
    //HERE IS THE PROBLEM the personid is an int and the record number exist but it does not find. why it never goes inside the if statement???
    if (personFound != null && personFound.length > 0)
    System.out.println("inside");
    Row person = personFound[0];
    person.setAttribute(1, testname);
    //commit and connection close
    am.getTransaction().commit();
    Configuration.releaseRootApplicationModule(am, true);
    any help would be appreciate

    Hi,
    in ADF BC number is of type oracle.jbo.domain.Number , not int
    See: http://download-uk.oracle.com/docs/html/B25947_01/bcadvvo001.htm#sthref2579
    e.g. Key k = new Key(new Object[]{new Number(200), new Number(118)});

    There is a lot of talk about the Java security issues and the ability to download an apple patch fix, do i need to do this or will software update pick this up for me?

    Thanks for that, how do I establish if I have Java installed as on Safari preferences it indicates the following

  • Permissions Issues after java update...

    So, I noticed after I got the java update awhile back that the permissions associated with it are wrong.
    disk utility tries to repair it, claims it does, but still needs to be repaired afterwards. anybody else have this issue, so would it be normal?
    I can post the output from disk utility if you guys need it.

    It's normal. Not all permissions issues are ever resolved with any update. Unfortunately ever since 10.1.5 had permissions repair features, it never has 100% eradicated permissions issues. Though repairing permissions before and after each update helps, you'll never see a message that all permissions are repaired. As long as there aren't any other issues, I wouldn't worry about it.

  • Matlab font issues after installing Java Update 2

    Hey everyone,
    I am a scientist and I use the program Matlab to prepare plots for papers, presentations, etc. I am already a little annoyed that when running matlab on mac there are issues of text content cut off in the figures. More importantly after the java update 2 the matlab font looks HUGE. If you change the font setting, it will look normal, but sometimes shift the text. Does anyone know how to fix this? Matlab provided a fix for the R2008 version, but nothing for the R2007 version. This program is so important to me and my work, I may have to move back to Microsoft or Linux in order to have MatLab produce the plots I need.
    Please let me know if there is an efficient way to fix this problem.
    Thanks,

    I have the same problem on my dual quad-core MacPro after updating Java to Java Update 3. All of my font settings were reset. However when I change the font from 12 pt to say 10pt the cursor moves as if the 12 pt font is still used so it does not line up with any characters once a few characters into the line.
    I have tried removing all of my preferences and global matlab preferences, but no luck. I have not applied the Java Update 3 to my 17" MacBookPro as to avoid this problem. What version of Matlab are you using? I have R2007b.
    As for text being cut-off from your plots, I have found a small but important note to do with the '-r' option for the print command. On the Mac OS X platform, for some unknown reason you should always set the resolution to '-r72'. This has fixed the problem for me. I had the same problem when saving figures as png's that were to be used later to make an animation. All of the scaling was funny until I set the resolution to 72.
    I am hoping that I can find as solution. Maybe clearing the Java preferences, where ever they may be.
    Regards ...

  • Applet is not working properly on windows 7 with java update 23

    I am using applet in web application to serve as Image Viewer.
    Problem Description :
    1.Client machine configuration: Windows 7, java update 23 , IE8
    2.When my web application is not secure (i.e. accessible via HTTP), applet is
    able to download image from server.
    3.But when my web application is secure (i.e. accessible via HTTPS), applet
    is unable to download image from server.
    4.When applet try to download image using HTTPS, somehow it takes it as
    crossdomain access.
    5.When Client machine has Windows vista or Windows xp OS no such problem
    is there, applet works fine.
    Note : Applet method to download image is called from javascript.

  • Is there a consensus on how to solve security update issues?

    hi,
    i'm writing to you from a PPC G4 (AGP graphics) that will self-destruct by the time i switch off and (attempt) to re-start tomorrow. i will then need to do a re-install, just to see if i have gotten any replies (grinds teeth to the root). it will probably be my 8 th re-install in the past month. i just can'st takes no mores, Cap'n
    <exasperation>deep breath... each time i have done a clean install, zero-ed all data when erasing (7 times over, on this occasion), repaired permissions before and after each software update, and followed every advice i could find via google to pre-empt another "Error: underlying task reported failure on exit" and the inevitable hanging grey screen; i have earned nothing but another Disk Utility report of the same problem. my HD seems to be OK - Disk Utility and Disk Warrior both say it's "verified" by SMART (although i've read this could be no assurance...). it's 40 GB, nothing else installed but NetBarrier; nothing saved on it (just 3GB of OS).
    i've searched this forum over the last weekend and come across a diverse range of methods in resolving software update issues. i have tried downloading the security update and safari 3.2 directly from the site and bypassing Software Update- to no avail (but noticed that they are quite larger in MB than via Software Update??).
    the one suggestion the intrigued me was installing the update via Terminal. why would this be any different? the worst thing about this is that there is no universal way that'll work for all, just individual solutions for different macs??? could my problem be exacerbated by using the double layer (double the permissions to fix?) of a Panther OS with Tiger Upgrade disk?
    when i last tried to resolve the "error" with safe mode, fsck and DU Repair Disk/Permissions, which initially failed, i resorted to Disk Warrior, which re-built the directory, and "fixed" the HD. when i re-tried fsck it said the HD was "ok", but i still had the "error: underlying task..." on DU?
    is there an issue with the Security Update oo8 because it's PRIMARILY for 10.5 and not Tiger? why have some encountered this problem and others escaped any seeming conflicts ? is this problem also caused by JAVA updates (there are, after all, 4 updates!)
    more importantly, WHAT CAN I DOOOOOOOO?
    thank you

    looking at your suggestion to check /Library/Startup items in the concurrent thread ("Help needed after installing Security Update 2008-008"), i recalled that the only thing i have in this file system is 3 folders concerning Intego, NetBarrier and Virus Barrier. one of these contains the NetBarrier x4 daemon which has no image, just the apple "pencil, ruler, pen on paper" "A" image. i don't think it correctly downloaded, but this the case in every instance.
    i'm running netbarrier x4 10.4.5 updated and downloaded on installation. intego Support says that there should be nothing in my "Startup/Login items". i thought they meant Login items (users>login items) because when i take the folders out of my "/Library/Startup items", NetBarrier fails to "initialize".
    intego is now on newtbarrier x5, but they say x4 is fully compatible with Tiger???
    my baby maybe getting on, but it's strong enough, i just need to know what's bugging it!

    Do you use Glimmerblocker, or any other advert/content/security blocking/filtering software ?
    Yes, I use Sophos.  But, recall that with another browser (Chrome), video plays fine.  So the issue is not with Sophos per se.
    Safari-Preferences-Extensions is set to OFF ?
    I just turned Safari-Preferences-Extensions to OFF.  Video will sill not play.
    Regarding;"
    check System Preferences - Flash Player - Storage tab to see that 'allow sites to save information..." is on.
    In the Advanced tab -  click 'delete all'  ?"
    I did this, but, I an unable to delete all the Site Data; I get an error box:  "Flash Player was unable to delete all local storage. The files may be locked by another program. Close all browsers or restart your computer, and try again."
    I get this error even with all the browsers are closed.
    I think this points to our bug:  Only in my Mac OS user profile and only in Safari there seems to be some Flash Player file which is either 'open' or 'locked' to deleting.
    Where could that pesky file be????

  • Some pages don't render properly after Java update for OSX 10.6.8

    I can't seem to get T-mobile.com's website pages to render properly anymore. So far, this is the only website I'm having this issue with, though there could be more I'm not aware of.
    I go to www.t-mobile.com and this is what I get:
    I think I might be missing a plug-in, but not sure; if so, I don't know which one or how to get it.
    This only started happening after the latest Java update for OSX 10.6.8, which I installed on Feb. 24, 2013. All of T-mobile's pages look like this, except if I go to www.my.t-mobile.com's home page. Then I get a normal page, but after I log in, I get more wierd rendering issues again. So here's the page that appeared normal today:
    And after I log in successfully, I'm back to the wierd rendering issues again:
    I was so lost but then I decided to try a work around to get my online bill and managed to get it, but I don't want to see the pages like this. So help please?

    So, here's more on my point...
    I put in the 3 captured screen shots in my original post above. I used Grab to copy the web pages, saved them to my desktop as .tiff files and dropped them in for others to view. This morning, I went to look at my post and instead of seeing the screen shots, I see 3 tiny blue boxes with question marks. When I left click on the boxes, nothing happens. When I right click on them, I get options that are not helpful:
    Open Image in New Window
    Open Image in New Tab
    Download Image
    Copy Image Address
    Import Image
    Capture Selection from Screen
    Convert Selected Traditional Chinese Text (why the frack is this an option?)
    Convert Selected Simplified Chinese Text (or this an option?)
    I checked my Safari Preferences and I see I have checked, under Security, Enable plug-ins, Enable Java, Enable JavaScript.I have to have Java enabled to run a few things.
    Did something get corrupted in Safari?
    Am I'm missing some plug-ins?
    How do I get them back?
    I'm going to search the internet. Well, after doing the search, I still don't think I've got what I need. Thinking I might need to reinstall Safari. If this is the case, will I loose all my Bookmarks?

  • Java Update 5 (1.0) breaks Java for Volano based chats

    I installed the Java Update 5 (1.0) for Leopard on my Intel based Mac mini and then was unable to enter Volano (Java applet) based chat rooms. I was forced to reinstall my system to revert to my prior version of System 10.5.8 in oder to be able to continue use the Java based Volano chats. The update that will NOT work states: "This release updates Java SE 6 to to version 1.6.0_1.5, J2SE 5.0 to version 1.5.0_20, and J2SE 1.4.2 to 1.4.2_22."
    According to Volano developers -
    Note that Apple calls Java 5 (version 1.5) "J2SE 5.0", while it calls Java 6 (version 1.6) "Java SE 6". I think I finally have the following chart correct:
    J2SE 5.0 = Java 5 (version 1.5)
    - Available as 32-bit and 64-bit packages in Leopard
    - Removed in Snow Leopard
    Java SE 6 = Java 6 (version 1.6)
    - Available only as 64-bit packages in Leopard
    - Available as 32-bit & 64-bit packages in Snow Leopard
    In Leopard, the 32-bit Safari can run Java applets only with the 32-bit
    J2SE 5.0 support. To run applets using Java SE 6, you need to bypass
    Safari using the "appletviewer" Terminal command in Leopard, or upgrade
    to Snow Leopard where Safari can run Java SE 6.
    Volano says the possible work arounds for Leopard users (10.5.8( are:
    According to what I've read, if you have a 64-bit capable Intel processor (i.e., an Intel Core 2 Duo), the software update that you removed should have given you 64-bit Java SE 6 even on Mac OS X Leopard (10.5). Java SE 6 works fine with the VOLANO applets, but unfortunately the Safari browser that runs the applets is only 32-bit on Leopard, so applets in Safari still run with the 32-bit Java SE 5 instead of the 64-bit Java SE 6.
    So you have three options to solve the problem -- two free options (one rather easy, one more difficult), and one easy non-free option.
    (1) The Free and Relatively Easy Option
    If you have an Intel Core 2 Duo processor (not a Core Solo or Core Duo), you can install all the software updates from Apple so that you'll have the 64-bit Java SE 6.
    About Java for Mac OS X 10.5 Update 2 http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2733 "Java SE 6 is available on 64-bit, Intel-based Macs only."
    You would then modify your Java Preferences so that Java SE 6 is chosen first for the Java Application Runtime settings. You can verify the modified setting by running the following "java -version" command from the Terminal application (Finder > Applications > Utilities > Terminal):
    $ java -version
    java version "1.6.0_20"
    Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_20-b02-279-10M3065)
    Java HotSpot(TM) 64-Bit Server VM (build 16.3-b01-279, mixed mode)
    There are some more detailed instructions here:
    Install Java 6 on Mac OS X Leopard
    http://gephi.org/users/install-java-6-mac-os-x-leopard/
    Then you can bypass Safari and run the applet directly in the 64-bit Java SE 6 using the "appletviewer" command in Terminal. For example:
    $ appletviewer http://www.actionchat.com/chat/english.shtml
    You just put the URL of the page containing the VOLANO chat applet you want to load. I just tried it on my system, and it works fine. You bypass Java SE 5, which is broken for the VOLANO applets, and you bypass Safari, which cannot run the 64-bit Java SE 6. Instead, you run the VOLANO applet using your Java SE 6 directly!
    (2) The Free and Not-So-Easy Option
    You can download and install SoyLatte as an alternative to the Apple Java VM for your Mac OS X Leopard system.
    SoyLatte: Java 6 Port for Mac OS X 10.4 and 10.5 (Intel)
    http://landonf.bikemonkey.org/static/soylatte/
    I have not tried SoyLatte on my iMac, though.
    (3) The Best but Non-Free Option
    For only $29, you can upgrade your system to the latest Snow Leopard and get both the 32-bit and 64-bit Java SE 6 along with a Safari Web browser that works with Java SE 6 for running applets!
    Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard
    http://store.apple.com/us/product/MACOS_XSNGL
    I hope this information is of help to any Leopard users having trouble with the latest Java update.

    Thanks for the suggestion.
    Please bear in mind that this issue, presumably introduced by Apple's own update, affects not only the command line java interpreter but any other app that depends on Java (including some GUI apps). So it perhaps fits the larger scope of Leopard instead of the Unix area.

  • I cannot find a Java update, or my software update is not working... Running Mac OS X 10.5.8 keep getting need Java 1.0.6_11 with no luck...?

    I am running 10.5.8, I can find no software update as recommended by Ziplogix for Java which keep saying that I am missing 1.0.6_11
    Where do I go to download and install this so I may work... lol?

    This was the last Java update for Leopard:

  • I'm not able to install the new Java update

    I have a MacPro 2.8 Intel Core Duo 8GB 500GB HD with Mac OS 10.6.8 installed and every time that I try to install the sugested update from my mchine I receive an error message as: " The update could not be expanded, and may have been corrupted during downloading. The update will be downloaded and checked again the next time the Software Update runs"
    I already restarted more than three times and cleaned all system with Onyx but continue to receive the same message.
    Is there anybody there with the same issue that I'm having? Any help?
    Thank you in advance for any light on this issue!

    Check out all software you have that uses Java, like software that that uses database connections (using JDBC).
    Several people are reporting that the latest Java update (_29) breaks their critical software.
    The solution for at least one was to re-install a "combo updater" from and earlier age (earlier than the _29 update) to re-instate the previous Java.

    Thanks!

    Simple drag-and-drop does not normally involve Java at all. How is the external HD formatted?

  • Java update

    In this thread here http://www.adobeforums.com/webx?128@@.59b82baf the OP appears to lay the blame for a corrupted Preferences file firmly at the Java updates door.
    Now I know less than nothing about Java let alone what it does but this morning I received a pop-up advising me that an application was trying to use Java and that an update was available (or words to that effect). As I had no applications running at the time I can only assume that it was tied to something within the startup programmes (Windows). Could someone kindly tell me what exactly is Java, what it's used for and is there a way to find out what application is requesting the update?
    Having finally got CS4 and Lightroom to run in the way that they were designed following numerous graphic card updates (three in the last month I think) etc etc I am reluctant to download/update something that (a) I might not require and (b) run the risk of upsetting what appears to be a temperamental Photoshop from what I read in other posts. Thanks.

    ElliR,
    I am the OP of the article that you refer to. My comments were just an observation of what was happening on my system, at the time that my prefs file became corrupted. Since I had never experienced a corrupted prefs file in decades, it struck me as odd, and could well have been totally coincidental - I encountered my first corruption of the prefs file at the same time that Java wished to update. I had NOT actually launched the Java updater yet, as PS was launching. After I noticed the "hang" in the launch, I allowed Java to update. When the hang occurred, I was only being given notification that an update was avaiable. It was just the message, not the process of updating. Sorry if I was not clear on that. I did finally let Java update, cleared my pref file, and all was right for the entire day.
    It could well be possible that the fault was with MS's messaging system, or maybe something totally behind the scenes. I do not know. I only observed. In other fora, several have rung in with their thoughts that the updater message had nothing to do with my prefs file's corruption. They could be right. Maybe it was Java's bad luck to be popping up, at the exact wrong time and its totally innocent?
    Now to updates. Yes, I have them turned OFF (except for Java, obviously). I do update frequently, though totally manually. Sometimes, I'll wait for a bit, and read the various fora, to see if anyone is having an issue with any program's updates. I'll let them be the "point guy" for me. Going back a bit, the QuickTime 7.4.x update really played badly with Adobe Premiere. I just kept my QT at 7.3.8, IIRC, and waited until 7.5.5 came out. No one seemed to have trouble with that one and Adobe programs on XP.
    I think that John's suggestion, above, is a good one. I did not do that, but then after 20+ years of PS, never had experienced one issue. In my case, it was just the main prefs file, and it was a piece-o-cake to set things back up again. Workspaces was not affected, luckily. Now, I know that IT can happen, even to me. I've adopted John's suggestion - just in case...
    Good luck,
    Hunt
