Java.util.ResourceBundle VS java.util.Properties

I want to keep some key values pair outside program in a properties file and use that in my program. There is no requirement of localization. Should i use ResourceBundle or Properties class? Previously I have used Properties class for this purpose but in my current project ResourceBundle is being used. Is there any benefits in using ResourceBundle? will it be faster to read properties using ResourceBundle?

ResourceBundles support internationalization. If you know that don't need it and Properties suffice, okay then.
Forget about "fast", both will have to read from the disk (slow) and both will use hashmaps (fast look-up). And both will probably do it in the same way.

    I have reviewed the following article which contains the exact issue:
    http://cn.forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?threadID=1129729&tstart=59
    however, do not know if what I have done is correct.
    I right click on the view controller > Deployments > Edit > Web Inf / Lib and have ensured that ADF Faces Runtime 11 and ADF DVT Faces Runtime are ticked (these weren't initially). ADF DVT Faces Databinding Runtime was already ticked by default.
    I have also attempted this through the EAR via Application > Application Properties, but when I include these in the EAR I receive a deployment error.
    Any help with directions or more specific instructions would be much appreciated.

    Also -
    THe deployment in this instance completes sucessfully, and takes a little longer to deploy, so I do know that something is happenning. However, I still experience the same issue. Is there something that I need to do on the remote server?

    Can I also add, that when I check the WAR file in my deployments folder, I can see the appropriate java classes.
    They are not however included in the EAR.
    Do they need to be in the EAR as well?
    Again, to reiterate, when I try doing this, the deployment fails.

    hi,
    thanks for the replies.
    well i guess that(user authentication) is not the problem.
    Coz that happens even before i start the web service.
    i guess the problem is that the appl. is not finding the TaskMonitor class ( see the last 10 lines of the log).
    does anyone have a solution for that.
    thanks

  • Why not Deprecate java.util.Date and java.util.Calendar

    With the introduction of java.time, why did you not flag java.util.Date and java.util.Calendar. These classes have been a bane to every Java developer and should never be used again with the introduction of Java 1.8.

    Adding the @Deprecated annotation would only just provide a warning about an old API and recommendation to the developer(s) to no longer use it. Doing so would not break any existing library out there; in fact quite a number of constructors and methods on the Date class have already been flagged deprecated.
    The new java.time package is far superior to Date/Calendar.

    The classes you are referring to are part of the Java API. Third party jars have no impact on that. And you can't change to the order because java.sql.Data is derived from java.util.Date. So the second must load before the first.
    And if you have two jar files with those classes in them (and not classes that use them) then you either should already know how to use them or you should stop trying to do whatever you are doing because it isn't going to work.

    Shows up following error msg:
    Type mismatch: cannot convert from java.util.Date to java.sql.Date
    I don't think this exception is thrown from the portion of code you have shown. As clearly specified in exception message, you cannot cast an instance of java.util.Date to java.sql.Date. you will need to do something like this
    java.util.Date today = new java.util.Date();
    long t = today.getTime();
    java.sql.Date dt = new java.sql.Date(t);

  • Java.util.Date and java.sql.Date

    when i am trying to displaying date in my jsp page errors occurs saying that java.util.date and java.sql.date are matching..
    i have some sql statements which i need to execute in the page.so i cant delete that import sql statement.
    so what is the solution for this.
    i want to display the date as 19th april 2003....in the jsp page.
    thank u

    You should use full names.
    java.util.Date date;
    java.sql.Date sdate;
    ..And it may be a good idea to delete one of the two "import" declaration of packages.

  • Convert java.sql.Date to java.util.Date

    How do i convert a java.sql.Date to java.util.Date ?
    SimpleDateFormat formatter = new SimpleDateFormat ("dd/MM/yy HH:mm");
    Date received=myresultset.getDate(1);
    String utildate = formatter.format(received);
    <%=utildate%>
    Result : doesn't keep the HH:mm format
    14/03/04 00:00
    Ideas ?

    There is simple way to do this job...
    java.util.Date utilDate = new java.util.Date();
    java.sql.Data sqlDate = new java.sql.Date(utilDate.getTime())
    Enjoy Coding ! ! ! ! !

  • Convert java.sql.Timestamp to java.util.Calendar?

    What's the best way to convert java.sql.Timestamp to java.util.Calendar?

    Use Calendar's setTime(Date date) method.
    java.sql.Timestamp extends java.util.Date.

  • Java.io.NotSerializableException: com.tangosol.util.internal.ConcurrentCoun

    Hi,
    I am working on a small prototyep project trying to understand how coherence works.
    I have a object that creates an instance of entry processor and invokes the cache. I get following error. Entry processor is serializable - the app can write an instance of EP into a file.
    Using same setup if I merely call put() it works fine for me.
    Any idea what coherence is doing here ?
    Thanks

    The problem is fixed.
    In my EP, process() was returning "entry" instead of modified object. Comparing my code with some other samples helped me.
    So it is all down to my mistake.
    Thanks
