  • Which is the Affordable Java Web Hosting Services?

    Hi,
    I am Indie Game Developer and have just developed my first game. It is in Java and is a client - server based game.
    I need to buy a good but affordable Java Web Hosting Plan but I could not find much to my liking. I don't need too much space (like 5GB), a couple of hundred MB's would be fine.
    Does anybody know about an affordable, good Java Web Hosting service? Please let me know if you know.
    Thanks.
    Niteen Hatle

    SoulTech,
    Thank, for replying. I think the couple of hundred MB's I've mentioned is too much. I have searched the internet for more Java web hosting services.
    It seems Java web hosting is costlier than the normal web hosting services. So I have to separate the company website from the game server site.
    Let's see what comes up in my search. If someone has any suggestion about a web hosting service with java support, if they have used it, then please let me know.
    Thanks.

  • Wanted: Recommendations for Oracle/Java Web Hosting

    I'd like to make some Java/JSTL servlets that access an oracle database.
    Can someone recommend a hosting service?
    I'm most familiar with the open source products like JBoss and Jetty and tomcat.
    Thanks
    Siegfried

    You know Oracle is wickedly expensive, right? Expect a yearly license fee of 5000 or even 80000 dollars just to be allowed to use it for commercial purposes, price depending on what you're going to do with it and on what kind of hardware it is going to run on.
    Other than that: nobody can recommend you where you should be throwing your money at. Perform research yourself and if you're stuck choosing between different options provide them here and perhaps someone will have an opinion on it (likely not though).

  • Java Web Services and hosting companies

    Hi
    At this moment I am looking for a web hosting companies.
    I will be developing website in Java and I will also develop Web Services.
    Can you tell if I am able to host Web Services with any hosting company that supports Java. Or is there any special requirement on the behalf of the hosting companies to support Web Services written in Java
    regardas

    No Problem at all
    Nomally the Web Service is big different between Web application. or you can build your Web service structure like web application structure. It depends on the web server:
    If the Web Server of hosting company has WEB Service framework, you just need know how to deploy your Web service to Web Service framework and How to deploy to Web Server. In this case, you need deploy it two time, one is for Web Server framework and one is for Web Service framework
    If the Web Server of hosting company doesn't has WEB Service framework, you need build your own Web Service framework into a web application, then you just need know how to deploy your web application with Web service into Web Server framework

  • Java applet UK web host suggestion?

    I have made my Java applet and just about got it to working my webpage, but I am finding it difficult to find a web host who supports Java applets - they say that they are "resource heavy" and have "problems with Linux servers", great! Well, I need something none the less, a small website about 3MB in total, I don't know how much bandwidth and it has to support a .co.uk domain name I already own --and not cost much per month.
    Of course I have done a lot of Googling on this but I'm not very good at it. Any suggestions...

    Either you've communicated something wrong or they are talking crap.
    Java Applets in their own right don't tax the server any more than static web sites do, as they are executed entirely on the client computer.
    If you want to run some Java server for the applet to communicate with, then it's a different story.

  • Web hosting for ColdFusion, ROR, Java, PHP, MySQL

    The company I currently use to host my web site supports PHP, MySQL, Ruby on Rails, but I don't think it supports ColdFusion, and I would imagine there are other things I could not put on my web site, such as EJB based Java apps.
    My point is that does anyone know of a web hosting company that supports PHP, MySQL, Ruby on Rails, AND ColdFusion, AND anything else I might need to be able to practice using Flex to connect to data on the server using various technologies, like RemoteObject, WebService, etc.
    The web hosting company must be reliable and stable as well.

    I'd recommend you to get a dedicated server and setup there everything you need.

  • Calling normal java web service from bpel

    hi,
    i want to call a normal java web service (which has been deployed in an application server) and not a bpel process from my .bpel file.
    i see that while creating a partner link , i have to specify the wsdl file location.
    there are two options.
    from local bpel server and
    from local file system.
    since the web service is not a bpel prcess, it can not be deployed in the bpel process manager and i have to choose the wsdl file location from local file system.
    now there are some major differences in the two type of wsdl file, i.e., that of a java web service and a bpel process.
    let me give u all a concrete example.
    let i have a hello world web service which takes a name as input , concatenates the name with "hello" and outputs.
    i created a partner link to this web service.
    after creating the partner link, a local copy of the wsdl file is added into my bpel project which only contains definition import and partnerlink statements.
    but i can not progress any further.
    can any one help me out of this problem.
    also i will be helpful if any one can suggest a tutorial where bpel is used to orchestarate between normal java web services deployed in some other application server and not mere bpel processes.
    thanks & regards.
    sudipto

    Hi Sudipto,
    Just to add to the options. There are three options.
    1 and 2 as mentioned by you.
    3 you can give the hosted wsdl location directly in the text box. (i.e. somthing like http://ws.strikeiron.com/CensusData?WSDL)
    This in turn will create a local wsdl which has partnerLink info and an import of the original wsdl.
    once you have this select the appropreate Partner Link Type and Partner Role.

  • Help me choose a Java Web Server?

    I'm using Ubuntu 9.x and looking for a Java Web Server. I'm really lost as there are far too many out there and there seems none is the de-facto standard used by large corporations.
    My criteria are:
    - FREE for commercial use (requirement)
    - ease of use for installation and configuration (I'm a beginner)
    - good support from the commercial book industry is a huge plus
    - well integrated with eclipse is a huge plus
    - plenty of documentation and free community support
    - one of the major releases such as Apache Geronimo, GlassFish, JBoss, WebSphere and etc.
    I'm not concerned about major performance issues, but less hardware resource demand is better. I'm on a VPS with 256-512MB RAM.
    Any suggestions? What is the most popular one?
    I'm really lost so any suggestions would be much appreciated.

    Frankly, I'm not clear on differences between application and web server although I read this article. It sounds more like I will need an application server for my intended website with will have similar functionality as Facebook.
    Things I am likely to need are DB connection pooling and clustering since I'm hosting in the cloud.
    However, I have limited experience with a Tomcat and Java EE so I frankly don't know what I need although I have built a web site hosted on Tomcat. I figured with an Application Server I have the option of scaling to my needs without having to migrate. Then again, am I planning too far ahead and that migration isn't really that difficult?
    With that said, are there any case studies of large web sites using Tomcat strictly successfully?

  • How to call Xcelsius in Java Web application without OpenDoc

    Hi,
    We require to call Xcelsius Dashboard from a Java Web application. We cann't use OpenDoc function as result of some client preferences/restrictions
    Please let me know, what would be the other method to call the Xcelsius Dashboard from a Web application.
    Regards,
    Sachin

    Xcelsius docs are in swf format.  You could probably just host them without security and view with flash.

  • N1 system manager installation faied (newer version of Java web console)

    Hi,
    I am trying to install Sun N1 system manager on Solaris x86 U3 + all patches. Once I run the installer I got:
    N1SM Installer (version 1.3.2 on SunOS)
    1. Install OS packages. [Completed]
    2. Install Expect. [Completed]
    3. Install IPMI tool. [Completed]
    4. Install JDK 1.5. [Completed]
    5. Install service provisioning components. [Completed]
    6. Install OS provisioning components. [Completed]
    7. Copy DHCP configuration file. [Completed]
    8. Install user interface components. [Partially Run]
    9. Install service container components. [Not Completed]
    10. Install N1 System Manager. [Not Completed]
    Failed Step: Install user interface components.
    The following is a portion of the installer
    log which may indicate the cause of the error.
    If this does not indicate the cause of the
    error, you will need to view the full log
    file. More information on how to do that is
    available below.
    The Sun Java(TM) Web Console software already installed (version 3.0.2)
    is newer than the version (3.0) you are attempting to install.
    Downgrading is not supported. If you wish to run the older version,
    you can install it after unintalling the currently installed version.
    Error running lockhart setup: 1792
    Please fix the problem and then try this step again.
    For a full log of the failed install see the file: /var/tmp/installer.log.9327.
    t. Try this step again (correct the failure before proceeding)
    x. Exit
    Enter selection: (t/x) x
    Is there any way to continue my installation and using currently installed version of Java Web Console?

    Tried removing the currently installed Java Web Console as described at http://docs.sun.com/app/docs/doc/817-1985/6mhm8o5l4?a=view
    It says to simply run /usr/share/webconsole/bin/setup -u, however there is no setup binary in the listed dir.
    # ls -l /usr/share/webconsole/bin/
    total 396

    -r-xr-xr-x 1 root sys 6571 Oct 9 08:17 smloginmodule
    -r-xr-xr-x 1 root sys 171907 Oct 9 08:17 smreg

    -r-xr-xr-x 1 root sys 2917 Oct 9 08:17 wcadmin
    # uname -a
    SunOS host 5.10 Generic_118855-33 i86pc i386 i86pc
    It seems the docs are wrong?

  • Automatically Logging out of my web hosting service

    I am using my web hosting service with Firefox 3.6.13 and I keep getting automatically logged out of the web hosting service. I contacted tech support for the web hosting service and they said it was a problem with the browser - cookies/settings/etc - I couldn't find any solution. I need to be able to set Firefox so I can stay logged into my web hosting indefinitely. Thank You.

  • Java Web Start and DNS Service Provider

    I have an implementation of a DNS Service Provider that works fine as an Application. But when deployed as an applet or application through Java Web Start, it is not picking up the DNS provider override
    It is like this. I have a Simple Test Program
    dabba#cat Test.java
    import java.net.*;
    import sun.net.spi.nameservice.NameService;
    import sun.net.spi.nameservice.dns.DNSNameService;
    public class Test {
    public static void main(String args[]) throws Exception{
    try {
    System.setProperty("sun.net.spi.nameservice.provider.1", "dns,mine");
    InetAddress ia = InetAddress.getByName(args[0]);
    System.out.println(ia);
    catch(Exception e) {
    System.out.println("in exception handler" + e);
    dabba# cat MyNameService.java
    import sun.net.spi.nameservice.NameService;
    import sun.net.spi.nameservice.dns.DNSNameService;
    import java.net.UnknownHostException;
    public class MyNameService implements NameService {
    static {
    //System.setProperty("sun.net.spi.nameservice.nameservers", "localhost"); // ETL
    NameService ns;
    public MyNameService() throws Exception {
    ns = new DNSNameService();
    public byte[][] lookupAllHostAddr(String host) throws UnknownHostException {
    System.out.println("*** lookup host = " + host);
    byte[][] a = new byte[1][4];
    a[0][0]=(byte)127;
    a[0][1]=0;
    a[0][2]=0;
    a[0][3]=(byte)1;
    System.out.println("return a.length = " + a.length);
    return a;
    public String getHostByAddr(byte[] addr) throws UnknownHostException {
    throw new Error("not implemented");
    dabba#cat MyNameServiceDescriptor.java
    import sun.net.spi.nameservice.*;
    public final class MyNameServiceDescriptor implements NameServiceDescriptor {
    public NameService createNameService() throws Exception {
    return new MyNameService();
    public String getProviderName() {
    return "mine";
    public String getType() {
    return "dns";
    dabba#cat META-INF/services/sun.net.spi.nameservice.NameServiceDescriptor
    # dns service provider descriptor
    MyNameServiceDescriptor
    dabba# java -cp . Test www.sun.com
    *** lookup host = www.sun.com
    return a.length = 1
    www.sun.com/127.0.0.1
    So the above program works as intended as an application. Whatever hostname I specify, it returns localhost. Now, I'm not able to get this to work when I embed this in an Applet or Application launced through Java Web Start. Am I missing something
    thanks,
    Balaji

    We are trying to do the same thing for a different purpose. You need to set the override sooner than WebStart lets you... It has to be on the command line.
    We are trying to overide the default nameservice because it uses reverse dns which is slow at some of our sites. We need to set the parameter
    sun.net.spi.nameservice.provider.1=dns,sun before the VM starts using webstart. The only way we can do this is by setting the environment variable
    JAVAWS_VM_ARGS=-Dsun.net.spi.nameservice.provider.1=dns,sun on the client. This is not real easy from the server side.
    Is there any way we can make the client default to this nameservice provider? There must be some file somewhere on the client I can put this property in...
