Javac - exception Privileged instruction

Hi,
I just installed jdk1.1.6 on my computer.
The examples work fine but I can't compile.
I get 2 different errors:
1) When I try the 1.1 example:
D:\dev\jdk1.1.6\demo\demo\Animator\1.1>d:\dev\jdk1.1.6\bin\javac animator.java
=>
The exception Privileged instruction.
(0x0000096) occured in the application at location 0x00010104
Click Ok to terminate, Cancel to debug.
The debug doesn't help...
2)When I try the 1.0.2 example:
D:\dev\jdk1.1.6\demo\demo\Animator\1.0.2>d:\dev\jdk1.1.6\bin\javac *.java
=>

  • Why do I get "The exception Privileged instruction (0xc0000096) occured in the application" error message when exiting LabVIEW 6.1?

I have created a vi that uses the LV-GPIB and database connectivity vis. The program runs fine and it ends execution by running the "Close Database Connection.vi".
After closing out my front panel windows and exiting LabVIEW 6.1, I get an error dialog box that reads the message "The exception Privileged instruction (0xc0000096) occured in the application". What does this error mean and how do I resolve it?
    Thanks,
    Taf

    Hi Taf,
Given the broad scope of your application, it may be best to try and isolate the problem down by taking out parts of your application and simplifying it down as much as possible until you can get a consistent version that throws this exception. I would first try to take out either the GPIB or database connectivity portions of the application to narrow down our problem. This error generally occurs when accessing DLLs and external applications, so I wouldn't be surprised if it's the GPIB or database. Let's try to see exactly which one it is and then we can dig deeper into that part of the code. Thanks for your cooperation!

  • The exception Privileged instruction. (0xc0000096)

    Hey All,
I don't normally post but this problem frustrated me. I'm running Windows 2003 Server (SP1 with most recent patches). Everything was running fine until I installed the newest Itunes version (6.0.5). Got an error message when Quicktime finished it's installation. When I tried to open Itunes, I received this message:
The exception Privileged instruction. (0xc0000096) occurred in the application at location 0x7ca2af84.
The problem lies in the new version of Quicktime. Apple support wouldn't help me because win 2k3 server is not a supported OS. So, after reading some posts and playing around with some things, I came across the simple solution. Itunes 6.0.5 requires the same version (or greater) of Quick time as did 6.0.4. So...rollback to the previous version of Quicktime and your problems should be solved. Here are the quick and easy steps:
1- Install new version of Itunes and Quicktime
2- Uninstall Quicktime. If the usual Uninstall methods don't work, use the following method (DO NOT UNISTALL ITUNES OR ANY IPOD RELATED FILES) (thanks to b noir in a previous post).
a- download and install the MS Windows Installer Cleanup util (http://support.microsoft.com/kb/290301/). Remove Quicktime Component.
b- follow steps in this article to remove the remaining files (http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=93976)
    3- download and install Quicktime 7.0.3 (http://appldnld.m7z.net/qtinstall.info.apple.com/tramper/us/win/QuickTimeInstall er.exe)
Everything should be working from this point forward.

  • The exception Privileged instruction.

    Hello,

    I have installed giveio driver.
I am not getting where am I geeting wrong. Can somebody help me out.
    Regards,
    Maithili

    Maithili,
It very much sounds like the error is in the DLL that you built. I assume that you have tested it outside of LabVIEW?
Do you know exactly where the error is happening? You should set a breakpoint on the Call Library Function node and if the error happens before then, then the error is in LabVIEW. If the error happens during the Call Library Function, then the error is in the DLL itself. From there, you can print information from your DLL as you go to see where the crash is happening or use the information in the "Using External Code in LabVIEW" manual that is on your PC in the manuals directory under your LabVIEW directory.
With no files (and no hardware to test if I had), I cannot offer any more advice. If you can do a little more digging or post a
more detailed explaination of your issue, then the community can take another look.

  • 0xC0000096: Privileged instruction error

    Hi,
I am developing an application in 'Visual C++ 2005 Express' that controls a DAQCard 6715 board. I am making use of the 'Config_DAQ_Event_Message' to update the voltage values in the board every half buffer. My application is able to go through the callback function that raises the event once, but then gives the following error:
Unhandled exception at 0x0520ffb4 in HRDCP Modulator.exe: 0xC0000096: Privileged instruction.
I have used this functionality in the past with Visual C++ 6.0, but I had to move to the .NET environment in order to incorporate some libraries.
Any idea how to solve this exception?
    Thanks in advance,

  • "privileged instruction" error when starting iTunes 6.0.5

    Greetings.
After upgrading to iUtnes 6.0.5 on a Windows 2003 Server machine I get a " The execption Privileged instruction..." error message in a windows message box with a title that has garbage characters and "iTunes.exe Applicatin error." iTunes 6.0.5 won't run. After removing iTunes 6.0.5, version 6.0.4 won't run either. Any suggestions on how to fix this would be appreciated.
    Thanks.
    alan

alan, the Server 2003 problem is usually caused by a conflict between QT and Windows Update KB908531.
for a bit more information and background on troubleshooting this one, see:
b noir: Re: Windows XP 64, trouble after install of itunes update
(it hits QT 7 installs on XP x64 installs too.)
if you decide to go the "uninstall KB908531" route with this, strongly consider implementing one of the three (last time i checked) workarounds listed in the "vulnerability details" section of the following security bulletin:
Microsoft Security Bulletin MS06-015: Vulnerability in Windows Explorer Could Allow Remote Code Execution (908531)

  • On leaving Firefox I get an error message, instruction could not be read or could not be written or privileged instruction

This error started when I had problems with >NET Frameworks It is annoying, not critical. When I close Firefox I get an error message, 1 of 3. Instruction could not be written, or could not be read, or Privileged Instruction. The location of the error varies each time. I have tried IE and it does not generate the same problem.

See [[Firefox crashes when you exit it]].
Does it send crash reports to Mozilla? If it does can you post some of the crash report IDs as this may help identify the cause of the crashes. For details on getting them see the [[Firefox crashes]] article.

  • Need Help for Itunes and quicktime

    Hi there,
I just formated my computer and my os is windows 2003 server. When I installed itunes, everything is fine however when I installed quicktime I got an error code : -3. What's going on? and after I done with the installation, I couldn't open an itunes as well I got an error message said : The exception Privileged instruction. (0xc0000096) occurred in the application at location 0x7ca2af84. I don't know what happened I did install itunes and quick time under windows 2003 before and it works fine, but now I got an error. I appreciate the answer, Thanks in advance.

by any chance, did you try downloading the QT Player
from the "QuickTime 7.1 with iTunes 6 for Windows
2000/XP" link on the QT download page? that one
actually leads to an itunes/QT installer bundle.
    I did it this way
let's try a careful standalone QT 7.1 reinstall.
download and save a copy of the QT 7.1 standalone
installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install
from there rather than online.) switch off
antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the
    install.
    Quicktime 7.1 Standalone Installer
if that install goes through okay, does your itunes
    launch properly again?
I did like you said and I can not even uninstall quicktime from my computer. When I double click the installation package: It shows
    Unhandled Exception
    Error Number : 0x80040707
Description : DLL function call crashed : QTInstallCode.QuickTimeUninstallProc
    Setup will now terminate
Also, itunes does not launch properly. I think there is something wrong because when I install the windows from the cd I can install and run these two programs(itunes and quicktime). They work fine and no problem at all. However, after I update windows by using windows update web site, I couldn't use these programs since then. I have no idea what is going on? Before I reinstall my os, I also use windows server 2003 with sp1 and I could run these two programs. I think may be the new version of itunes and quicktime that they put on the web site have some issues with the windows server 2003, not sure about that.
    Thanks.
(if you get an error message on the QT standalone
reinstall, let us know what it says. include error
message numbers if you're getting any.)

I'm running Windows 2003 (i know, not officially supported...) and I upgraded itunes to 6.0.5. itunes no longer runs. I uninstalled, rebooted, reinstalled a few times now with no luck. I have never had a problem running itunes on Windows 2003 before. Any ideas? Can I go back to a previous version of itunes?

Hi. I am getting the same error:
    The exception Privileged instruction.

I did not save a copy of iTunes 6.0.4

  • Trying to access Music Store and iTunes shuts down...

I've been trying to open the Music Store for days with no luck. I get an error message "The exception Privileged instruction 0xc0000096 occurred in the application at location 0x1003527a" and when I click "ok" iTunes closes abruptly. Sometimes I don't even get the error message and iTunes just closes during the "Accessing Music Store" screen. This is very frustrating as I have done all the posted fixes from Apple. (disabled Norton, unistalled/reinstalled iTunes 6) It's not my ISP because another computer can access it from my wireless network. This came on suddenly with no apparent changes in my hardware/software configuration.(been working fine for 1 year)
    Please Help!
Dell Dimension 5100   Windows XP Pro

    hiya!
you've got a standard 32-bit version. the x64 version has an "x64" mentioned in that screen. for a little more info on that, see:
    http://www.ittvis.com/services/techtip.asp?ttid=4040
i was checking, because the error message you were getting was very similar to one folks can get if they've got a problem with their QuickTime on an x64 PC. itunes needs a functioning QT to work correctly, and a broken QT can cause problems with viewing the Music Store too.
try to open your QuickTime. does it launch properly, or do you get an error message?
if you get an error message, the first thing we'll try is a careful standalone QT 7.1 reinstall.
download and save a copy of the QT 7.1 standalone installer to your hard drive. (we'll run the install from there rather than online.) switch off antivirus and antispyware applications prior to the install.
    Quicktime 7.1 Standalone Installer
if that install goes through okay, does your itunes launch properly again?
