Javadoc - for other languages
I recommended use of javadoc for documenting code in a new project; then heard the whole system will be constructed in a variety of languages, including C++ and possibly some C# (and Java ... I wrote as though that was assumed).
So now I'm asked to find a tool that produces javadoc results automatically from comments in all source code, regardless of language. And, one more thing ... javadoc is free ... so nothing was added to the budget for a documentation tool.
Thanks if you can tip me off to a solution.
Thanks for the tip. Doxygen seems to be popular from what I can gather. Let me also share something I discovered from my research. This could be helpful to many others.

Specifying alphabetic sort order for other languages.
The alphabetic sort order differs slightly for other languages then the English one. I rewrite the alphabetics in the special text flow of the Reference Page of the index file, regenerate the index file, but the result is wrong. The special Group Title characters for greek, hungarian, czech, russian etc. languages are combined among latin Group Title characters.
We work in FM 8 to create 3000 pages technical documentation in 14 languages. The output will be pdf file and help system. Our main problem now the index Group Titles sort order. Could you help me to solve this problem?
Thank you so much
EvaMichael,
Thank you so much for your answer. It works great. I have a promlem only one letter, which is in the Czech alphabetics: "Ch". This letter would be after the "H". I have edited the sort order like this:
Symbols[\ ];Numerics[0];A;B;C;Č;D;E;F;G;H;Chch;I;J;K;L;M;N;O;P;Q;R;Ř;S;Š;T;U;Ú;V;W;X;Y;Z
<$symbols><$numerics>Aa Bb Cc *Čč* Dd Ee Ff Gg Hh Chch Ii Jj Kk Ll Mm Nn Oo Pp Qq Rr Řř Ss Šš Tt Uu Úú Vv Ww Xx Zz
The result in the generated index is, that the index entries beginning with Ch comes on below "C" and the GroupTitle "Ch" is disappearing. Take a look at the result in the generated index file, what I am talking about: -
Dictionaries for other languages?
I have found only American English dictionary in my OS. I would like to add dictionaries for other languages (not translating dictionaries). Does anyone know where I can find more?
Thanks.I have found only American English dictionary in my OS.
For spell checking, 10.4 already includes dictionaries for Australian, British, and Canadian English, German, Spanish, French, Italian, Dutch, Portuguese, and Swedish.
If you are talking about Dictionary.app, it's possible to add dictionaries if you upgrade to 10.5:

Hi,
are the gif's available for other languages? I mean I have now english installed and this will give for the GO button a image on the button named go.gif. Is the go.gif also available in other languages or should I change the gif file myself?
Thanks
Herald ten DamThere are a number of so-called translation memory tools that can translate MIF files. There's a Wikipedia article on translation memory tools: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Translation_memory
We use Star Transit, but SDL Trados can do the job as well and there are a number of other tools. These tools separate text from formatted. Then the text is segemented. This allows you to reuse previous translations when the source documents is modified. Only new and modified segements will have to be translated then. These tools are very useful, but most of them are very expensive. A pretty new tool which is more affordable is memoQ (which I have never used myself). It is available from http://en.kilgray.com/.
As for screenshots, I think the most important thing is to make sure that they are imported by reference.

Auto_lexer (stemming) not working for other languages(other than english)
Hi All,
We are planning to use AUTO_LEXER instead of MULTI_LEXER and observed that stemming is not working for German where as it is working for English when I use AUTO_LEXER. I even used query templates but of no use.
But when i use MULTI_LEXER, creating sub lexers for German and Enlgish, Stemming is working for German also after changing the session language and setting stemmer of wod list to German (Which is expected).
Following is the code for AUTO_LEXER creation:
CREATE TABLE test_auto_lexer(pkey NUMBER(5,0),
lang_index VARCHAR2(3),
content_text CLOB,
CONSTRAINT test_auto_lexer_pk primary key (pkey))
INSERT INTO test_auto_lexer(pkey,lang_index,content_text)

this doesnt work even after changing the session language. My default Sesson language is AMERICAN.
Could any one help me with this, in case I am missing something here. I would be really thankful.
Edited by: Nagendra Prasad on Jan 23, 2010 12:05 AMIn the future, please begin a new thread for a new question and provide a link to a related question.
According to the online documentation, Oracle only supports stemming for English, Dutch, French, German, Italian, Spanish, and Japanese. Oracle does not support Russian stemming, although you may have gotten some accidental results, due to identifying it as a different language and applying stemming rules for that language. The following manual sections show the languages available for the index_stems attribute of the basic_lexer and stemmer attribute of the basic_wordlist:
Basic_lexer attributes:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/text.112/e24436/cdatadic.htm#CIHHBAAD
Basic_wordlist attributes:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/text.112/e24436/cdatadic.htm#g1019326
Also, please see the following note:
Features not available in 11.2.0.3:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/readmes.112/e22488/toc.htm#BABDGGDB
"Certain Oracle Text functionality based on third-party technologies, including AUTO_LEXER and CTX_ENTITY, have been disabled in this release (reference Bug 12618046). For BASIC_LEXER, the usage of the INDEX_STEMS attribute values that depend on third-party technologies, is also affected. If this impacts an existing application, contact Oracle Support Services for guidance."
Also, the auto_lexer has been replaced by the world_lexer, which only has one attribute:
http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E11882_01/text.112/e24436/cdatadic.htm#BHCJEGFJ
I don't work for Oracle, so I don't know why they do things the way they do.
So, you need to stick with the basic_wordlist for stemming, not the lexers. However, you may get better performance by combining the multi_lexer with the basic_wordlist, as the multi_lexer eliminates time spent on automatic language detection. But, you need to remember not to use the index_stems with your lexer, since it will conflict with the wordlist. I am not experiencing any time problems as you have. Please see the demo below. I have provided the whole script below that, so that you can reproduce it on your system. If you still have problems, then it may be due to differences in versions.

PLD Invoice localization for other languages in SBO 8.8
Hello,
We are installing SBO 8.8 in our client.
After we have designed the standard layouts (Invoice, Purchase Order, etc) in Portuguese langua, our client wants to create them also in English language.
Is there any way to translate them automatically?
Do I have to create a new layout for each language or is there any way to simpligy the layout translation?
I tried to find info in the PLD manual (How to Customize Printing Templates with the PLD) but found no help on it.
Thanks,
Manuel DiasThanks Bala,
It that's true, then the field "Language" in the business partner master data is unusefull.
When I open the SBO business partner documentation from SAP, related to this field it says:
"Language: If the business partner is located abroad and you want to print documents in his local language, specify the required language. By default, the company language is displayed.
Note 1: Before you print documents for foreign business partners, ensure that the foreign language fields have been translated.
Note 2: The field is only displayed if you have selected Multi-Language Support on the Company Details: Basic Initialization tab.
It seems that there is a way to translate the foreign language fields, base on note 2 statement.
Am I correct?
Thanks again,
Manuel Dias -

Locale.getDefault() for other language OS
I have a Swedish operating system and would like to get Swedish as the default locale. However, looking into the Locale API there seems to be no constant for Swedish. It seems to be limited to 10 or 11 languages in total. How can I detect OSs that is based on other languages than those 10 or 11 mentioned in Locale?
Yes, spell check in OS X is totally separate from the choice of input source. It can also be set in system prefs/language & text/text/spelling, but that is even less convenient. I don't know of any easier way than what you have already discovered.
However there is at least one app, Nisus Writer, where the app preferences can be set so as to link the keyboard, spellcheck, and font for any given language, with the whole set choosable via a single keyboard shortcut. -
Anyone Using iWeb for Other LANGUAGE content?
Hi,
Do any iWeb user create their website with other language such as Chinese,Japanese,Korean...??Hi Tom,
Thanks for the kindness!
OK.I've create some entries of blog and name it with English and Chinese..while click on it when published it shown at the URL as www.xxx.com/blog/iloveuxxxx(with chinese words)...
When i try to email the similiar address above to others...the link will not complete because of the Chinese words...means,the link will only highlight as www.xxx.com/blog/iloveu and the xxx(chinese words) can't be highlighting...at last, friends unable to log on the full address...
Because of that issue..i've decided to changed the entries' title to English Only...now i publishing the iWeb and visit my website after published and click on the entries of blog as i said above..and the URL shown the same address as before i changed...however i publish and even publish all to MME..i doesn't work...
Do anyone know what's happen to the issue above?shall i delete the chinese words in every html of the entries' blog?
Thanks and Appreciate!! -
Itunes 10.6.1 crash for other language
Before I installed 10.6 and it just crashed continusly, would restore and I kept reinstalling. finaly I decided to go to an older version, what ended up been the perfect solution. Waited for next version where all bugs should be at the most fixed, but for a spanish configured mac, it just doesn't work. It keeps showing the message "this itunes version was unable tu update language, please use de english version" and... WHAM! it just closes on you and wont open at all... justo got to the previous version again... must I raise my expectations on a 10.6.2 o just pray for a 10.7 or 11???
does anybody know if there would be any problems keeping 10.5.2 on my snow leopard macbook and runinng the lateset 10 on my Lion macbook.? It seems like new OS's often kill old models so I've kept SL on the. macbook.
Match doesn't seem to be updating.

I am working on a design project in Illustrator where I need to use Dari text which is the Afghani written language. Is there a plug in I would need to install to make it work?
There's a keyboard layout for dari;
System Preferences > Language and Text > Input Sources;
Check the options for keyboard & Character Viewer (top) and Show Input Menu in Menu bar (bottom).
Click on the flag in the menu bar and switch between keyboards at will.
The keyboard viewer will show you where all the characters are relative to your own.
More characters and diacritics can be seen with the alt (opt), shift and shift+alt keys.
This won't make sense of course, but;

CVP Language change (English and option for other Language)
Hi,
Currently in our IP IVR we give our callers the option to switch to spanish. I want to do the same in CVP but I'm not sure how.
I guess I could create an English page and a Spanish page so that if the callers enter the option for Spanish it would "move" the call to the Spanish page in which all prompts are Spanish.
Currently, using IP IVR, our English and Spanish prompts are name the same so we can just send the call back to the beginning and change the Language.
Any ideas are appreciated.
thanksI see three methods:
1. Set the default audio path to something like: http:// address>/
Create a session variable say Lang - Intial value "en-us"
Prompt for Spanish. If they want that, reset Lang="es-es"
All prompts in the application would be set as {Session.data.Lang}/app/my_application/foobar.wav
2. In CVP7 you can start off with Default Audio Path = http:// address>/en-us/my_application/ and use the Application Modifier node to reset the default audio path for Spanish. All prompts would be a WAV file name like foobar.wav
3. make the language selection a microapp - I always use microapps for such simple things - and pass the language in as a session variable which then flows through to the VXML application.
I think what is holding you back is that you did not realize that what goes into an audio element as the WAV file can be a complete URL, or part of a URL that is appended to the Default Audio Path, and you can include Session Variables in this. There is a lot of flexibility here.

Is there a way to have Greek spelling in Mavericks natively like for other languages
Γραφο Ελινηκα
Tom, Thank you for showing me how to find Home/Library/Spelling.
I copied the .dic and .aff files (that I had download from Open Office Extensions) into spelling folder.
Unfortunately they did not work in Greek and also disabled the English spellcheck. I have removed them to restore English spellcheck. The problem remains: no Greek spellcheck in Mac Pages. -

I think the ID3 tags may need to be converted to Unicode. There is a program called ConvertZ which some people use to do this for Chinese.
