Javahelp 2.0 and external links

I have created a simple JavaHelp (2.0) help system and I have tried putting in some links to various sites (say http://java.sun.com) I have put a hyperlink tag into one of the htm ( Hey this is a java site
WHen I click on the link in the Javahelkp viewer, it loads the page in the main window instead of launching the default system browser.
Please help this java newb out.

Hi Jagraj,
Q1: You have to define the Meta Property as Indexable than you can use TREX for searching for documents with the specific value of this property. Of cause you can as well filter the documents when displaying the content of the folder. In this case you have to implement a resource list filter.
Q2: TREX is able to index links as well.
The question is it you really mean External Links for referencing documents in KM folders because normaly you do this by an internal link. A external link in most cases is a reference outside the portal. Nevertheless see http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw70/helpdata/en/73/66c090acf611d5993700508b6b8b11/frameset.htm so you can see you can define a parameter indexContentOfExternalLink and you can define a parameter IndexInternalLinks. In this case the index will contain as well the content of the links.

My Links and External Links wont work on my page. Using Dreamweaver CS4

I have followed all the instructions for adding external links to my website using Dreamweaver CS 4. I cannot click on any of the links in the body of my pages, even on my sitemap page my internal links dont work. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated as I have looked online for a resolution to this problem and not finding any new information.

How to force external links to open in new browser window/tab?

Greetings. I'm here because searching elsewhere kept coming up with references to javascript. I've created an interactive PDF with both internal and external links. It works just fine when viewed in either Acrobat or Reader. However, it is being downloaded to users' browsers and when they access the external URLs, the new sites replace the existing page in the same window.
Is there a simple way for me to include an action in the PDF prior to distribution that will force it to open external URLs in a new browser window or tab?
And for the record, I barely know how to spell Javascript, much less how to write or implement it. So if there is a simple solution, I hope you can also help walk me through the steps to implement it.

There are two issues here:
- How to do it using JS
- How to do it in a non-Adobe browser plugin
The first is pretty straight forward. You use a code like this, replacing the dummy URL with your own:
app.launchURL("http://www.example.com", true);
The second issue is more problematic, and in fact there isn't really a solution to it. If the plugin used supports this method then it will work, if not, then you're out of luck. Unfortunately, outside of the Adobe software I don't think that any other plugin supports it.

When you create a link, you can specify whether it is internal or external. You create a link as follows:

Identifying the Link Type
It is useful to know the link type because it gives an indication of the operations that are possible on the link target. The repository framework distinguishes between internal and external links. Internal links refer to resources that are integrated in the repository framework, whereas external links refer to objects that are not integrated in the repository framework, for example, documents stored on a web site. If a link is internal, you can access the target as a resource that offers the operations associated with repository framework resources. If a link is external, you can only access the target as a URL and not as a resource object. As a consequence, most of the operations associated with resources are not available.
Determining the link type is therefore often a prerequisite for handling a link target effectively.
The code extract shows how you can find out what type of link is involved.

Incorrect call to external link

Hello experts,
Business is requiring and external link in a development, so users will click on it and it should take them to a web page in their intranet site. Even when our developer is assigning the correct link, SRM is changing the URL.
example:
The URL we want to access http://www.mycompany.com/sites/intranet.htm
but when we click on it, the system send us to: http://<SRM server web address>/sites/intranet.htm
Complete error says:
Service cannot be reached
What has happened?
URL http://<SRM server web address>/sites/intranet.htm call was terminated because the corresponding service is not available.
Please advice on how to solve this issue. Thanks!

What is this development where the URL is changed, you mention that SRM changes the URL when it is accessed.
Is this custom development using standard SRM functions to read the text/URL contents?
Perhaps you can explain some more about the Development and it's use in your SRM client?

Cant open external links and multiple instances of the same profile.

I have multiple firefox profiles.
I constantly have two profiles running at the same time.
I use microsoft outlook and see an external link, I click it wishing firefox to open it in the default or new browser. It does not and says "FIrefox is already running, but is not responding. To open a new window, you must first close the existing Firefox process, or restart your system."
Firefox is running fine.
How can I open external links with a profile based setup?
Also, how can I open multiple instances of the same profile? I find that if I click and drag a tab to another monitor, it opens a new "instance" or browser window.

So you will have discovered ''-no-remote'' Note NOT to use that on the default browser; profile, only on secondary profiles.

If you are trying to run multiple Webmail accounts in one profile then you may well find the webmail is identifying and setting the user account that is opened. Use a Private Browsing window to get round that and open a second account.

I've migrated FF settings to a new PC and no external link opens now

Couple days ago I've received my new PC and migrated all important data from the old one using a special W8 tool. I've also installed Thunderbird and FF anew, and migrated their setting using tools recommended here (FF Sync + MozBackup). And suddenly I've lost a possibility to open any external link in FF now no matter the source (Thunderbird or any other piece of software). Now I have to copy and paste URLs manually. It's not the best solution. Old PC OS: Vista Business, new PC OS: W8.1. Thanks in advance.

Good Morning!
I need help! I am trying to write a code for dreamweaver, so
that anybody who clicks on an external link gets a pop up message
with the option to continue or cancel. I have a behavior on click
for each individual external link, however, I would love to do a
code and put it on the template so that everytime I add an external
link to the site, I dont have to worry about remembering to add the
behavior!
Please help, :) I am still a new web designer and I am
learning.

How to: Add Internal anchors to a PDF and then link from an external webpage?

I work in email marketing and create html emails that we send through our own web based system. I am just wondering if it is possible at all to create internal anchors with unique urls that I can then link to from my html email as a hyperlink?
The client has created the PDF and I am wondering if I can create the anchors and when linking to these anchors from my email, it downloads the file and opens to that specific anchor location?

I seem to having a new issue with this task. Thanks to Bernd I have managed to create named destinations within the PDF document. From there I have then created the email and linked the pdf url with the destination tag to open to that location. However what we're finding now is that once the PDF has been downloaded once, if you go back to the email and select another link it opens the PDF in the last viewed state.
This client has created one PDF containing many different articles. In the email she has created a table of contents and wants to link from each listed article to that destination in the PDF. But once you have clicked on one link, shut down browser, go back to the email and select another link it just opens what you were viewing last. Is this a cache issues? Are we using the named destination method in the correct manner?
We tried suggesting, linking once to the PDF and then from the PDF creating a table of contents with internal anchors however the client doesn't want this.
Suggestions?

Export external links and store them through the package function

Is possibile to export external links (like www.xxxxxxxxx.com) like images, fonts, source files in general trough package function.
Or are there other ways to do it? We need to collect all links that we inserted in our application.

How to display URL images and URL link (html) from Smartforms?

Hi Gurus,
I'm having difficulty on how to display targeted URL images and URL link from the smartforms, after i sending it out as html mail. The mail i sent just can be preview as a plain text, which can't execute the html code that i put inside the smartforms itself. I follow a few step from this very useful blog.. 1- put your images in a directory under the web app directory. Example: app/images/
2- in your jsp, use: String file = application.getRealPath("/images/"); to get the images directory. See http://java.sun.com/j2ee/sdk_1.3/techdocs/api/javax/servlet/ServletContext.html#getRealPath(java.lang.String)

In FF 34.0.5 I use to be able to click on a link within an e-mail and the link would open in a new tab; it now opens in the same tab; how can i change it back?

I'm using FF 34.0.5 (I like it). I use to be able to right click on a link, within an e-mail, and the link would open in a new tab. Now when I click on the link it opens in the same tab replacing my e-mail.
Example - a friend sends me an e-mail containing a link to a web site he thinks I'd like. I click on the link and go to the web site and then go back to the e-mail tab and reply to him. Now, when clicking that link, my e-mail disappears and is replaced by the new site.
How can I fix this? When this happened once before I was told to change the 'value' for a specific 'preference name' through the about:config page.
Can anyone help jog my memory?

You can check this pref on the about:config page for external links.
* browser.link.open_newwindow.override.external (-1)
If this pref has the default value -1 then browser.link.open_newwindow is used.

You can open the about:config page via the location/address bar.

External links suddenly open in a new window instead of a tab

I am using Nightly (20.0a1) on WIndows 8, I use the program Teamspeak 3 and it used to be that whenever I clicked on a link it would just open in a new tab in the Nightly window that was open, but now it opens a completely new Nightly window. I have the box ticked in settings, I've gone through all of the about:config things I've seen online and nothing works, I really have no idea what to do. I just did something with envoirenmental variables which didn't help (meant that it opened a whole new instance of Nightly whenever I clicked on an external link) so I deleted the variable. Anyone got any suggestions? If it is relevant, before this problem started I dragged a tab from one window of Nightly to another (think it might've been the cause of this), and yes, I've tried dragging tabs around from window to window to fix this and it didn't work.

Thanks, but I already had it set to that, I've heard of many people with this problem and tried literally all fo the about:config fixes that I could find but none worked, I think it is some sort of assosiation problem with hyperlinked text with windows but I really don't know. Anyone who can help me please do, this is getting annoying. Keep in mind that I have Windows 8 when making suggestions also.
