Javascript in Java Browser

Hi!
I would like to create a Java Browser who is able to deal with the Javascript.
(Right now I see error messages).
Is this possible?
Please help.

Thanks! What do you mean with " then hammer it into
your HTML display component"? How would you proceed?Depends on what HTML Display (JEditorPane, FS, custom) componet you are using.
What would you consider as the simplest solutions?
None. It would be hard. I'd cheat, and go with JDIC Browser component.

  • Check if client browser supports javascript and java

    Hi everybody,
    I would like to know if there is any means by which we could check on the server side, if the client's browser supports Javascript and java.
    bye
    Praveen

    It would be a bit of a hack, but you could embed a Javascript snippit in the actual HTML that would use document.write() to output a hidden tag. If your server recieved the hidden tag on a GET or POST request, you would know that Javascript was enabled.

  • Making a java browser component for Mac platform(Urgent)

    I was trying to make a simple java browser component from scratch for running on Mac platform. I was using JFrame/JEditorPane. Although JEditorPane can open web pages but it can't support Javascript, flash and other interactive features of many websites. Does anyone know any way to make JEditorPane support javascript?
    I also researched on JDIC java web browser, but unfortunately they don't support for Mac yet. Is there any free third party tool available which I can use?
    Any quick help is appreciated. Thanks.

  • How do i show javascript in java application?

    hi.......
    how do i show javascript in java application? ( run javascript in java application )
    thank you...
    ( i love java developer)

    From java you can run any program. You can run javascript in a browser.
    So you need to open a browser in java to run the javascript.
    This is unlikely to have the desired effect however. Why do you want to this?

  • Keep getting a message from Javascript (not Java)- "Uninstall Set", help it will not go away

    Each time I use Firefox, the message "Uninstall Set" keep popping up from Javascript (not Java). I can not use Firefox because this keeps popping up.

    That would be from an extension, anything similar from Firefox would have been cleaned up. If you'd been on 4.0.1 for a while and it just started happening, then I'd try Tools > Add-ons > Extensions then on the gear wheel choose "View Recent Updates" the date will appear the list small and the. The "last updated" button near top right does something mysterious.
    To see list in normal fashion again choose "Appearances" then return to "Extensions".
    If you dislike the formatting of the Add-ons list during normal viewing you can improve it tremendously with a custom style:
    * [https://addons.mozilla.org/firefox/addon/stylish/ Stylish :: Add-ons for Firefox]
    * [http://userstyles.org/styles/42112/firefox-4-compact-addons-manager Firefox 4 - Compact Addons Manager - Themes and Skins for browser - userstyles.org]
    From the wording the message could possible be referring to a Collection of Extensions. I avoid collection sets like the plague.

  • DOMNotSupportedException in com.sun.java.browser.dom.* classes

    I'd like to enable an applet to modify the DOM in a browser window directly (ie. by using org.w3c.dom.* stuff). I'm using the latest 1.5.
    I'm using a small class that I've pasted below to attempt to facilitate this. It evidently works in MSIE, where I receive the "Got document" message indicating a non-null value for 'page', but in Mozilla or Netscape, I get the following exception thrown:
    netscape.javascript.JSException
         at netscape.javascript.JSObject.getWindow(Unknown Source)
         at sun.plugin.dom.DOMServiceProvider.getDocument(Unknown Source)
         at sun.plugin.dom.DOMAccessor.getDocument(Unknown Source)
         at econ.ClientLink.run(ClientLink.java:35)
         at sun.plugin.dom.DOMService.invokeLater(Unknown Source)
         at econ.ClientLink.start(ClientLink.java:25)
         at sun.applet.AppletPanel.run(Unknown Source)
         at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)
    com.sun.java.browser.dom.DOMUnsupportedException
         at sun.plugin.dom.DOMServiceProvider.getDocument(Unknown Source)
         at sun.plugin.dom.DOMAccessor.getDocument(Unknown Source)
         at econ.ClientLink.run(ClientLink.java:35)
         at sun.plugin.dom.DOMService.invokeLater(Unknown Source)
         at econ.ClientLink.start(ClientLink.java:25)
         at sun.applet.AppletPanel.run(Unknown Source)
         at java.lang.Thread.run(Unknown Source)
    Got document: null
    Is this just simply only supported for MSIE? This seems highly unlikely.
    I suspect it might have something to do with permissions in Mozilla, as these lines also appear in the log:
    liveconnect: the url of the applet is http://word and the permission is = false
    liveconnect: JavaScript: calling Java system code
    liveconnect: JavaScript: default security policy = http://word
    I haven't yet found anyone who could explain them. I'd like to try playing with permissions, buy I don't know how to do so. Any suggestions?
    --- code follows ---
    import javax.swing.*;
    import java.applet.*;
    import org.w3c.dom.*;
    import com.sun.java.browser.dom.*;
    public class ClientLink extends JApplet implements DOMAction {
    DOMService service;
    Document page;
    public void start() {
    try {
    service = DOMService.getService(this);
    System.out.println("Got service.");
    service.invokeLater(this);
    catch (Exception e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    public Object run(DOMAccessor doma) {
    System.out.println("Entry successful.");
    try {
    page = doma.getDocument(this);
    System.out.println("Got document: "+page);
    catch (Exception e) {
    e.printStackTrace();
    System.out.println("Error: "+e.toString());
    return null;
    }

    A couple of things I've found with DOMService and/or LiveConnect and the more recent java and browser releases :
    1) You probably need to edit your java.policy file to grant permissions since the security in Java is now managed independently from the browser
    2) You need to remember to have mayscript="true" in your applet tag
    3) JSObject's dont work unless you've called JSObject.getWindow(...) first.
    4) Many legitimate java exceptions will appear misleadingly as security exceptions

  • JavaScript to Java with the Java Plugin, anyone?

    The java.sun.com web site seems to be teeming with docs on how to access JavaScript from Java, and the Netscape site seems to have plenty of docs on how to access Java methods from JavaScript using the browser's own JRE.
    But can one use JavaScript to access methods of a Java applet running under the Java Plugin? And if so, how?

    all the public methods and fields of an applet are exposed to javascript. In the <applet> tag, set...
    <applet ...otherinfo... mayscript></applet>, or
    <applet ...otherinfo... mayscript="true"></applet>
    I think the latter version is safer to use, as I think IE has issues if you just use the mayscript tag without the "true" value.
    So if that is set, in javascript all you have to do is address the applet, and call any of its public fields/methods. (Actually, I know you can call all public methods and I think you can call all the public fields as well...)
    var applet = self.document.applets[0];So now you can call all the public members, such as...
    applet.start();
    applet.stop();
    applet.myPublicFn1();
    applet.myPublicFn2(arg1, arg2);
    var val = applet.pubField1;etc.
    Note that if you're using Java2 (swing) thru the object/embed tags rather than just using the applet tag, things don't work that smoothly. I tried once and the applet wasn't actually found in the applets collection of the document. I tried finding the 'applet' object but had no such luck...
    Hope that helps.
    Good luck.

  • COMMUNICATION BETWEEN JAVASCRIPT AND JAVA APPLET: US$20 AWARD FOR SOLUTION!

    COMMUNICATION BETWEEN JAVASCRIPT AND JAVA APPLET PROBLEM (Easy Filter Java Applet) -
    US$20 TO ANYONE WHO CAN RESOLVE THE PROBLEM
    To forum visitors:
    I am prepared to pay a standard shareware fee of US$20 to a user who can resolve this technical problem.
    If your advice resolves the problem, I'll forward the payment to your postal address (include your
    address with your reply, and also your email address)
    I am attempting to enable a HTML button (using Javascript's onClick command) to directly input a number into one of the parameter text boxes in the Easy Filter Java applet (ie, enter a new color value number in the text field of the standard Colors Multiplicator Filter interface).
    The applet is Freeware and can be downloaded at: http://www.javazoom.net/applets/easyfilter10/EasyFilter10.html
    (It is a very effective bitmap display and editing utility)
    To achieve this, I am trying to access the part of the applet that defines and sets the textbox. The text box is defined in the .class file by accessing the parameter details in the genericfilter.txt file (accompanies the .class files). I need to access 'private String appletInitialize()' and then one of the 'textFieldParameters' which sets the textbox.
    I understand the basic syntax for referencing the applet:
    document.appletname.setString("An example"). However, accessing the text fields in this applet is more complex!!
    Please can you recommend the correct Javascript syntax to achieve communication with the applet.
    Thank you for your kind assistance.

    You can't.  Why do you want to do this?

    I think what this means is "I want to check to see how much hard disk space is available.  Also, I need to check the pixel dimensions of an image."
    Is that right?
    There is no way in the Flash Player (as far as I know) that you can determine the amount of free disk space.  However, in AIR you can use air.File.applicationStorageDirectory.spaceAvailable to determine the storage space available in the application storage directory.
    As far as determining the dimensions of an image, there are plenty of good resources out there on that.  Maybe this one will be helpful to you?

  • Java Browser

    I am looking for a Java browser for a pJava platform - any pointers?

    I was recently looking for the same...
    Here is what I found:
    JavaBrowser: http://www.ii.uib.no/~jeremy/sw/TheBrowser/ - This is open source and was release a long time ago (like 1996)
    Ice Storm
    http://www.windriver.com/products/html/icebrowser.html - This is commercial, ran so-so for me.
    Espial Escape
    http://www.espial.com/main/page?view=escape_48_about_web - Commercial and quite expensive. Sample apps ran so-so.
    Net Clue
    http://www.netcluesoft.com/ - Didn't run well for. It's commerical but not terribly expensive.
    HTML browser
    http://www.xs4all.nl/~griffel/java/html.html
    This one's free but runs slower than JavaBrowser
    JEditorPane in Swing
    Swing just runs too darn slow for me and that .jar file is huge.
    For my testing, I'm using a Compaq Ipaq 3635 and Jeode VM. In the end, JavaBrowser far outperformed anything else because it renders html pages incrementally, but it lacks support for many features, most importantly html tables. It was also written using Java 1.0 event models so it contains quite a bit of deprecated code.
    Hope this helps,
    -Brad

  • Issues in Java Browser. Urgent !

    I developed a simple Java browser using JEditorPane+HyperlinkListener,but it can't support HTML scripting languages.
    Are there some buildin API or other supportive packages developed by third party which can do HTML scripting translating?
    I will very appreciate your help if you can help me out.

    Hi,buddy! I have no idea how to embed Gecko, could you
    give me some details. Thanks a million.I haven't tried to do it (it takes too much time for me , and there's no point in doing it, since the HTML 3.2 and limited CSS stuff is enough... I do hope they will move the HTML support to a higher level, i.e. full HTML4.1/CSS2 compliant)
    Read the FAQ:
    http://www.mozilla.org/projects/embedding/faq.html
    There also some projects around using an embedded gecko.

  • JavaScript: calling Java system code message...

    When I try and call an applet function from Javascript, I get the following message in the output window:
    JavaScript: calling Java system code
    JavaScript: default security policy = file://
    ... and the method isn't called.
    Can someone tell me what I need to do please?

    Research pointers:

  • How to call javascript from java application

    How can we call a function written in javascript from java application (core java not applet)? How will java identify javascript?
    Is there any such options ?

    Try creating a page called launcher.html (for example). That does this:
    <html>
    <head>
    <script language="javascript">
    windowHandle=window.open("http://www.javasoft.com", "", "height=700,width=1000,status=no,scrollbars=yes,resizable=yes,toolbar=no,menubar=no,location=no,top=5,left=5");
    </script>
    </head>
    </html>Now you launch IE (or whatever) with this page using the Runtime class. After x seconds (after the second window has been launched) try killing the process. Hopefully it will kill the original window you opened and not the window you popup (the one without toolbars etc)
    It might kill both windows but I can't be bothered to test it. If it does you'll have to try and find a workaround.
