Javascript issues for a PDF form

Hi everyone,
I hope someone can help me, i posted a few days ago but managed to find a script somewhere online to do half of what i needed.
//-----------------Do not edit the XML tags--------------------
//<Document-Level>
//<ACRO_source>Numbering</ACRO_source>
//<ACRO_script>
/*********** belongs to: Document-Level:Numbering ***********/
var f = this.getField("Tracking Number");
if (f.value=="") f.value = "0001001";
else f.value = util.printf("%04d", (Number(f.value)+1));
//</ACRO_script>
//</Document-Level>
Problem I have now is that it will only update the Tracking Number field (field is after the A) when i save the original document, not when i save as a copy. This will be accessed by multiple people and what i want is the number to update each time it is saved as a copy (so there will never be two documents with the same number, VERY IMPORTANT). This document is essentially a digital carbon copy form then sales reps use.
I was also hoping there can be a script written to update the file name with the tracking number, so it rules out human error - the script will Save a copy, in a designated folder, with a set file name (Booking_form_#customername_#trackingnumber.pdf)
Am i just hoping for too much?

Regarding the server, I was referring to setting up a web server with a script that the form could sumit a request to whenever it needed an new number, not a file server where the PDF resides. The server would check a database and reserve a new number and return it to the form for use. This would require some server programming, but it's the best way to do it. The problem is it won't work with Adobe Reader on mobile devices.
This type of thing is indeed a common thing to want, but it's hard to do from within the document itself since there's no way of knowing what other users are doing. With a physical book or invoice pad, it's not possible to use a number more than once like it is with a multi-user e-form that's not controlled by a server.

  • Best web browser for submitting PDF forms

    Is there a preferred web browser for submitting PDF forms, or can recipients submit the form via any of the common browers like Explorer, Firefox, Chrome, etc.?

    We support all of the major browsers: Internet Explorer, Firefox and Chrome.

    I don't know that is a huge number of alternatives for Fractal plugins.  You'll no doubt come across links for Fractalius and Genuine Fractals, but the first produces interesting strand like effects (after a very long wait) and the second is an image resize plugine which now belongs to On One, and is sold as Perfect Resize.  And even that has been made irrelevant by the Preserve Details upres option in CC.
    You are alos wize to be careful.  Previous trusable sites like cnet on softonic are a nightmare nowdays, and too many of the free apps you find on them come loaded with malware.  Some of it _serious_ malware DAMHIKIJKOK
    But have a look at Fractal Explorer.  I don't have experience with it, but it comes with the Pixel Bender name behind it, which is like a badge of excellence.

  • Issue when opening PDF forms in Acrobat X

    First, pardon me if this is the incorrect forum for this post.  I did not locate any general technical support board for Acrobat X but I could have missed it.
    I have a user who has Adobe Acrobat X Standard (10.1.6) installed on his computer system.  He is able to generate PDF files and open regular PDF files without issues.  However, if he opens up any PDF which is a form, Acrobat immediately crashes.  His computer is a Windows 7 Professional x64 system.  Antivirus on the system is GFI Vipre Business.
    Here is what I have tried:
    Update Acrobat with the latest patches/updates.
    Different Windows profile with administrator rights.
    Removed Acrobat and reinstall through normal convential means.
    Removed Acrobat via tool at http://labs.adobe.com/downloads/acrobatcleaner.html.
    Remove Acrobat and then do a manual clean of the registry and Windows Explorer.
    Cleaned up fonts on the system.  This might not have been done right but based on the error, perhaps you all can offer suggestions on if this error is related to font issues.
    I would perform a system restore, but this user is unsure of when this issue started happening exactly.  So, we'd be in the dark on this.  The only thing that I can think I haven't tried is a wipe of the computer.
    Here are the specific errors:
    This error is received when trying to directly open a form PDF on the system:
    Title: Font Capture: Acrobat.exe - Bad Image
    Message: C:\Windows\system32\ATMLIB.dll is either not designed to run on Windows or it contains an error.  Try installing the program again using the original installation media or contact your system administrator or the software vendor for support.

    Anyone have any other suggestions?  I'd appreciate any advice.
    Thank you!

    Hi, I am having the same problem as your user when I try to open a pdf form in acrobat. I also have had a similar problem, still unresolved, described here: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5146964.
    I can't find any solutions. I even tried uninstalling Acrobat X pro and instead gong back to installing Acrobat 9. Same problems persist. Don't know what to do.

  • Issues with a PDF Form

    I have a few concerns regarding the attached image.  I created a form in LC ES2 and saved as a PDF.
    When I click in the "Hours" and "Notes" column, it displays a drop-down list box. I would like to eliminate the drop-down list box from both columns.
    I set the fields in this column as a decimal.  However, it will not allow me to type $150.00 in it but will allow me to type other currency.  How can I fix this issue?
    Once I save the document into a PDF form.  I would like to protect or keep a user from changing the numbers in the "Hours" and "Rate" column.  How can do this?
    Please provide some suggestions, and thanks in advance.

    Hi Patrick,
    For creating Multilevel Approval workflow,  you can  implement it using SharePoint designer 2010.
    Please refer to the following blogs:

    Also you can customize a state machine workflow using Visual Studio:

    For Digital Signatures: Adobe has changed the behavior around digital signatures and SharePoint-hosted PDF files. when digitally signing a SharePoint-hosted PDF file, it will be saved directly to SharePoint if that PDF file is already checked out.

  • Javascript window on submitting PDF form

    Hi,
    I have a form designed in Livecycle ES3. When I go to submit the PDF form using Adobe Reader 8.0 to the specified email address I get the following javascript window:
    To:
    Subject:
    Attachment:
    From:

    When I select Send I then get another javascript window:
    Please indicate the option which best describes how you send mail:
    Desktop Email Application
    Internet Email
    When I click ok it works fine and attaches to an outlook email. However I don't want these windows to appear at all but for it just to send the pdf.
    Is there some setting I need to change when designing the form in Livecycle or a setting in Adobe Reader?
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Deep.

    any ideas? still can't get rid of this window?

  • Automate Save as, Reader Extended for 160 .pdf forms using a script or macro?

    I have 167 pdf forms made using Adobe Acrobat Pro X. when I sent out a test it could not be saved using Adobe reader. I know how to Save As; Reader Exended pdf; Enable additional features.  this also forces me to create yet another document called something different like mydoc-2.pdf. Since you can't save these feature in the existing one?
    Is there a way to automate this using javascript or something so I don't have to do each one.
    1. open each pdf documewnt
    2. set the Save As; Reader Exended pdf; Enable additional features.
    3. save as name -2
    repeat 1-3 for 167 files in folder A

    There is no Adobe supported means for automating the application of usage rights, apart from their LiveCycle Reader Extensions server-based product. This is a very intentional restriction.

  • Submit button for online PDF form doesn't work for some users

    Two online forms I've created in LiveCycle Designer 8.2 work fine for me. But when some of my site's users click on the Submit button in either form, it simply flashes and then does nothing. It's a standard Submit button with a Mailto link. The documents are PDF Version 1.7, and I'm using Acrobat Pro 9.4.5 and Reader 9.4. Any suggestions on troubleshooting would be great.

    Has this form been enabled with Form Rights for Reader.  If the entire PDF is submitted, then the PDF must be Reader enabled to operate on Reader.
    Another issue is that an email submit is entirely dependant on the user's system.  There must be a local email client installed and registered with the system.  Internet email will not work.  This is the most likely issue.  Althougth there are other things that could be wrong.  You might want to consider using the Acrobat.com to distribute your forms.  This method gets around the email issue for most users.
    Other issues that could cause this problem are the users' version of Acrobat/Reader as well as any kind of funky system/security setup.

  • Including a JavaScript library in Acrobat PDF Forms

    Hi, I'm new to making PDF Forms. Is it possible to include a JavaScript library (for example jQuery or node.js) in a PDF Form? How would I go about doing this?
    Thanks

    In principle it's possible, but it wouldn't make much sense because these
    libraries are written to work with JS in HTML pages, not PDF files, and the
    objects, events and methods of the two are completely different (except for
    core JS commands).
    So yeah, you can load jQuery in Acrobat but you probably won't be able to
    use any of it.

  • Can I make a web link for Imported PDF forms?

    I imported a PDF form onto formscentral.  When I click the distribute tab I do not get the same options as if I created the form on formscentral.  Can I create a web link for my imported PDF form?

    Hi;
    No, the Import PDF feature allows you to save a new version of your PDF form that has a "Submit" button that submits the data back to FormsCentral which is available for you to view, analyze and manage on the View Responses tab.  It does not provide a "web" version of the form.
    In order to make the PDF form available online you will want to create a link to download the PDF and instruct users to fill it out using the free Adobe Reader (or Acrobat), you do not want to allow the PDF to be opened inside of a web browser as that will not work for most users.  The FormsCentral PDFs must be filled out using Adobe Reader/Acrobat.  Here is an FAQ on PDF in a web browser: http://forums.adobe.com/docs/DOC-4142

  • Show scrollbar for whole PDF form

    Hi,
    At the moment, on preview or when the form is embedded in a webpage, the scrollbar is not showing. I reckon this is because this PDF form only has 1 page. However, as user is allowed to zoom in/out for embedded PDFs on webpages, a scrollbar is needed. Is there a way to force the scrollbar of a PDF form to appear?
    Thanks,
    Bernard

    Hi guys,
    Found the solution.
    There is a property that disables panes(which include scrollbars), i.e.
    event.target.viewState = {overViewMode:5};
    Hence, removing this line of code will fix this issue.

    this is no adobe specific error, it's from your application. You've some entries in your customizing so that specific texts are expected by the form.
    go to the context, search your text there and check wheter the checkbox "no error when text is missing" is activated or not...
    if the textbox is not activated but the text is missing --> thats the behaviour you have

    After installation of the patch 11.0.09 of Adobe Reader some certificates are no longer accepted for signing (not enlisted in list of certificates) when clicking the sign fields of PDF forms. The forms were created using LiveCycle Designer.
    Is it by design or is it a bug? If it is by design, what is the change, which caused this behavior? We are facing the problem, when our users are no more able to sign the request forms using their client certificates.
