Javascript needed - need checkbox to check automatically based on selected item from dropdown list

I am building a fillable form.  In this form, I have created items in a dropdown list.  Based on the item picked from the dropdown list, I need a corresponding checkbox to be checked.  I am certain there is an easy javascript to resolve my current problem.  Please assist.
For example: dropdown list field (SubSupplier1) -   Demolition                            export value 2
                                                                                Rough Carpentry Labor       export value 4
                                                                                Rough Carpentry Material    export value 3
I need the corresponding checkbox (SalesTax1) to automatically be checked when Demolition (export value 2) or Rough Carpentry Material (export value 3) is selected.

Hi Jennifer,
This should help you do what you need. Place it in the Custom Calculation property of the dropbox and select "commit selected value immediately" in the fields options:

check.checkThisBox(0,true);
else {
check.checkThisBox(0,false);
The code is asking if the export value of the field is either '2' or '3' and if so, check the box.
Otherwise uncheck the box.
If you don't want it to uncheck on other selections, remove the 'else' section of code.

  • How to create a report  based on selected item from Select list?

    I have created a tables_LOV based on:
    select table_name d, table_name r from user_tab_cols
    where column_name like '%_type%'
    Then I created a page item ListOfTables,  Display as select list and pointing to tables_LOV.
    I run the page, and i can select the table i want from the drop down list.
    How to create a report  based on the selected item? (ex: select * from selected_table)

    I think that simulates what you're trying to accomplish. I've set up the simplest method I could think of.
    The report is based on an apex collection. If you are not familiar with that, you should study the documentation: APEX_COLLECTION
    To recreate my example you should:
    1) create an (interactive) report on your collection
    SELECT *
       FROM APEX_collections
    WHERE collection_name = 'MY_COLLECTION'
    2) create a page_item select list for the tables you want to display (in my case this is called "P38_TABLES" )
    3) create a dynamic action that triggers on change of your select list page_item. The dynamic action must be a PL/SQL procedure perfoming the following code:

    So get the value what i tried is ,bind the list item of the select one choice ,
    and then i used the method something like this

    but it returns me something like this

  • Unable to add items to dropdown list using javascript

    Hi,
    I'm trying to add additional items to a dropdown list at runtime using javascript.
    I'm doing this by invoking the addItem method on the dropdown list field during its initialize event.
    However when I run the generated pdf in Acrobat Pro, I get the following error in the console -
    GeneralError: Operation failed.
    XFAObject.addItem:3:XFA:form1[0]:#subform[0]:field0[0]:initialize
    Method: 'addItem' cannot be called because doing so would violate this document's permissions settings.
    The pdf form has no signatures or any other stuff in it.
    What additional permissions do I need to add and how ?

    Is there a reason to use the code you did? It looks like the problem is with the variable's permissions when going through the template.
    This code works just fine in that same event:
    this.addItem("new item");
    As does:
    var f = xfa.resolveNode("form1.#subform1[0].field0");
    f.additem("new item");

    This may sound like a simple question to most, but… It has had me frustrated trying to figure out.
    I am trying to populate a dropdown based on what is selected in another dropdown.
    Let me explain what I have done so far.
    LifeCycle Designer 8.05.2
    When I had both dropdowns in the same table, I did not have a problem. The code I used is
    Table name is “Table1”

    I was asked to move things around and now “division” is located in “Table2”
    I know I need to reference “Table1” but I am running into a Syntax error. I have tried the following code;

    if(Table1.Row1.directorate.rawValue == "1")

    You're missing a semicolon at the end of the addItem line, and on the second code sample you've got no periods in the SOM reference (Table1 Row1 directorate). 
    The easiest way to get the path to another field is to ctrl-click on the field while you are in the script editor.

  • Display a value based on Text value selected in the dropdown list

    I am newbie in creating PDF forms.. I recently created a form patterned with Purchase Order Form sample that came along with the LiveCycle installation.. I can say I am doing good as I was able to create a functioning form with hours of triasl and errors.  Now, I got stucked with my table calculations.. The first column is a dropdownlist with refreshment Items, the 2nd is the quantity column, 3rd is the unit price column and last is the amount column.  After so many days and hours of trying to make the unit price display automatically after you select an item.  I am not an expert in scripts or in PDFs for that matter.. Can somone please help me with my problem.. My dropdownlist is populated by script but by the object pallete in LiveCycle.

    myPhrase is the loop index, but instead of a numerical index
    (like n in your sample), myPhrase is set equal to each item in the
    phrases list, first item to last. So, on the first iteration
    myPhrase = “test1”, on the second iteration myPhrase =
    “test2”. The loop automatically exits when the end of
    the list is reached. The Director help docs have more information
    on this syntax under “repeat”
    BTW: if you're more comfortable using a numerical index, the
    syntax for getting at the n-th item in a list is list[n], or in
    your sample phrases[n]

    I really admire the batch process feature that lets me automate functions. The problem is, I want to do something with a single page PDF that is not on the list; Save as TIFF. This is very common in my work environment, and time consuming. Any way to automate this that does not involve a feature request?

    and then click on Specify Settings and select "Export files to alternate

    Thank you for your help so far. I must not be asking the right question. Here is the whole breakdown. I am writing this page to collect the users information, Name, Title, Company, and technologies they are familiar with. I then want that information emailed to me upon submission. The point I am running into a problem (even with your last post) is how to write the action part of it that will email the checked items to me. I cannot figure out if I need to use CFLOOP (if so, how) or what the best method is. I am a very visual lerner and can understand how code works easily, but I have not found any examples for my situation. Again, I really appriciate all of your help thus far.

    We have a parent data source "P" containing all the record types. Further we have two child data sources each having filters on exclusive record types(for ex. child1 containing record types X, Y, Z and child2 containing record types A, B).
    In our page we have a result list associated with data source child1(record types X, Y, Z) and result table associated with data source child2(record types A, B). There exists common attributes among the attributes present in result list and in the result table.
    Rest of the containers in the page namely search, breadcrumbs, guided navigation point to the parent data source("P") containing all the record types.
    Whenever we select a value from the guided navigation using the common attributes both the result list and result table are getting filtered.
    What we require is that, whenever an attribute(common attribute) is clicked in the result list, the data in the result table needs to get filtered based on the value of the attribute that is clicked.
    Is this possible? If so, pl. suggest how.
