Javascript : Object Expected error.

Hi,
I have used a javascript in my sharepoint portal. Whenever I open the page in IE, it shows me "Object Expected" error at Line:1 Char:1.
Here is the code snippet that I have used:

we have Java Struts 1.1...
I am getting "Object Expected" error while processing jsp page.
I want to modify the text field so that only number and one dot(.) should be entered.
I have one function and i am calling it as "onkeypress" event.
Below is the function....

Why? This is not a javascript forum.
In any case, run it in firefox which has decent Javascript error handling functionality, then do some Google searches on Javascript event handling to try and figure out what you're doing wrong. It might be something browser specific and I suggest you look into using something like JQuery for standardized and proven ways to do things like event handling logic in stead of rolling your own Javascript stuff.

Object Expected error in Struts JSP file

it's a Javascript error, cuz it's calling these 2 methods when the page loads...
onLoad="getSessionData();disableFieldsLocale();"
Where are these methods defined? Cuz I don't see any inline Javascript, nor a linked script.
I hope you don't think that those onload functions are going to call Java code defined in the JSP page or something, cuz... well, they aren't.

2 issues:
First is:

I am unsure of the <a> tag. It appears to be part of

would happen if I delete it.

IE8 Portal 10.1.2.0.2 buildUIembed.html Object Expected error

After upgrade IE to IE8, Web admins are unable to switch to WYIWYG mode,
Issues with IE8:
Webpage error details
Status Bar shows following error:
Message: Object expected

After talking to Oracle support, they said IE8 is not supported with Portal 10.1.2.0.2 version so only option is to upgrade to 10.1.4.x version.
This issue can be fixed by simple replacing some lines in buildUIembed.html

Make a copy of buildUIembed.html.
Replace these lines (Line# 819 and 1292 ) :

1. Bounce portal
2. cleanup modplsql cache ( $ORACLE_HOME/Apache/modplsql/cache), delete all files & dir from cache.
3. clear IE8 browser cache (Tools->Delete Browser History) and also try Tools->Developer Tools->Cache->Clear Browser Cache), exit from Browser & start it again to test.

Will this workaround, or something similar, work in Portal 9.0.4.0.99?
We are planning to implement IE8 throughout the enterprise and ran into a similar error in the RTE. We are making plans to upgrade/re-engineer our Portal, but that will be a project that won't be finished until after the IE8 implementation, so we are looking for short-term solutions that will still enable our content contributors the ability to use an RTE within Portal 9.0.4.0.99.

"missing" because I made the navigation bar with the Dreamweaver
Menu Tool.

you are missing the JavaScript for the navigation bar.
Click any of the images in the navigation bar and look in the
Behaviors Panel.
Double-click on of the Set Nav Bar Images behaviors there and
then click OK in the Set Nav Bar Image window.
This will write the necessary JavaScript to the page.
You will need to do this on all of the pages.

EP IAC iview javascript object required error

Hi,
We have installed EP 6.0 SR1 and ITS 6.20 with service pack 19(with hotfix) in one domain. We have created IAC iviews in Enterprise portal. We are accessing the enterprise portal from different domain and we are getting javascript error <i>object required</i> sometimes. This error comes while loading the IAC iview and it comes randomly. But when we access the portal from the domain where we installed the portal & ITS we are not getting this javascript error.
Did anyone encountered this type of error before???.

I am assuming this is happening after you have deployed your app and that the app works as expected on your development computer(?). Please confirm...
I need you to tell me the following:
1) how was the app compiled; any cpu, 32 bit, 64 bit?
2) how was the CR runtime deployed (what MSI / MSM did you use?)?
3) if this app is installed under custom app pool see the following:
Deploy the CrystalReportViewers13 virtual directory as a sub-directory of your application.
Copy the Crystalreportviewers13 folder to be a sub-folder at the root of your application. You can configure where your application looks for this folder by using the following Help file [SAP Crystal Reports .NET SDK Developer Guide
|http://help.sap.com/businessobject/product_guides/sapCRVS2010/en/crnet_dg_2010_en.zip] and search the document for ("web.config";). In the section "Configuring your web.config file" follow the instructions specified for setting the resourceURI attribute. This way you can control updates to the viewers when deploying your application.
Note the resourceURI value is the name of the viewers directory and should be preceded with a Tilde
ie value="~/crystalreportviewers13"
Also, have a look at the following two articles. Both are pre CRVS2010, however the ideas re. deploying to a custom app pool still apply. All that changes is the folder name.

Javascript - Object required error for visual studio 2010

Hi - I have downloaded the crystal report RTM for visual studio 2010.
My App server is windows 2008.
We are using crystal reports as part of CRM application
I am getting javascript error 'Object Required' at the following line:
The debugger after the error message refers to this:
bobj.crv.stateManager.setComponentState('ctl00_ContentPlaceHolder2_CrystalReportViewer1__UI',eval('('document.getElementById('__CRYSTALSTATEctl00$ContentPlaceHolder2$CrystalReportViewer1').value')'));
The website has all the required aspnet_client files and have made sure the application is able to load them.
When tried with a new sample solution the reports work.
Please help. I need to make the crystal reports work with the CRM solution...

Help, I continue to get a 'object expected' error from DW CS3 SWF video insert?

I am trying to use DW CS3 to place video into my website. Seems simple enough, 'insert media', 'flash video', etc. However, I have been unable to get it to play or even show up. The source file is an FLV file in the same directory as the index pages that should be showing it. Here is the link, http://www.fishart.us the error line begins with 'AC_FL_Runcontent'.

any one with ideas???
i've been doing some more research... and found a possible solution... where i could send the video thru a server proxy... but the only thing is doing that might slow down my process... i was wondering if there was any other solution to this problem??

Javascript error: object expected

hai..
i used two javascript show(),hide(id) methods for particular page items... i had called those methods from the templates bcoz im passing some id from the template that is needed in the page level javascripts...
now my problem is for some i didnt not implemented those methods hide(id) & show() bcoz it is not needed for me in that page , but its showing me error saying 'Object Expected' .. how can i overcome this problem...
do i need to override the method in each n every page... is there any alternate solution for this...

Another option is to condition these show/hide functions. You can use something like this:
if ($x(‘id’)){
hide(‘id’);
}That will prevent the functions from running if the element ID ‘id’ is not rendered on the page.

"Object expected" JavaScript error in IE7/IE8 using AC_RunActiveContent v1.7

So this is a low-priority but annoying problem I seem to be having on a site with the AC_RunActiveContent embedding script that Flash CS3 automatically generates (v1.7, according to the comments). In IE7 and IE8, I keep getting these alerts when the page first come up:
Line: 39
Char: 1
Error: Object expected
Code: 0
URL: etc.
What's weird is that Line 39 of the file seems to be in the midst of a try-catch thing, so I don't see why that error should even be showing up. Mind you, the site is working fine - the Flash shows up fine - like I said, not high-priority. I'd just like to try and get rid of that error if I can. Anyone else have any idea what's going on here, and how I might be able to fix it?

Bump. Also, additional details: Yes, I did upload the script to the server. Yes, it's being found and read properly by the browsers, including IE7 and IE8; I've confirmed this using the Developer's Toolbar. So it's not the same problem that everyone who's asked about this before has had; yes, I did dig up those posts via Google before I came here, and yes, I have made sure. So any other thoughts?

Error: object expected in WAD-javascript

hi all,
i have written a .js file which i am using in WAD templates.
there are certain functions which , when i move to the .js file i get the error: object expected.
if i keep those functions in the template i do not get ne error.
i just can't figure out why it is happening.
please help

i guess after moving to file in the MIME repository, you have properly linked it. if you still get this error it may be that server cache is causing problem.
you can invalidate the server cache from SMICM transaction. (this you may have to do it every time you change the .js file and reload it to MIME repository)
