Javascript Onclick event on INSERT button - Kind of urgent

I PUT THE FOLLOWING CODE ON THE JAVASCRIPT EVENT "Onclick" FOR THE INSERT BUTTON.
onClick:
var x=window.confirm('Are you sure ?')
if (x)
do_event(this.form,this.name,1,'ON_CLICK','');
else
return false
IF I CLICK "OK", THEN THE FORM VALIDATION FIELDS JAVASCRIPTS STARTS TO COME UP (like NULL fields, etc...) AND ALSO THE INSERT PL/SQL CODE IS STARTED.
THEREFORE, I RECEIVED THE ERRORS FROM THE JAVASCRIPT VALIDATION FORMS BUT I ALSO RECEIVE THE ORACLE DATABASE INSERT ERROR .
WHY IS THE PROGRAM EXECUTING THE PL/SQL INSERT EVENT HANDLER IF I HAVE PRIOR ERRORS ?
I AM DOING SOMETHING WRONG?
ANY HELP WILL BE MUCH APPRECIATED..
TKS!

Hi,
I think that your Javascript code is calling the do-event code for the form, where all that you need to do is stop if there is a problem, as the event has already started and the form validation will run if your onclick code returns true.
if (window.confirm("Are you sure?")) return true;
else return false;

  • JavaScript - OnClick-Event - WAD

    Hi Folks,
    here is my problem.
    I have created a BSP, which embeds an iframe with a BW-WebTemplate. Its a rather simple one, only a Data-Table is shown. When the user left-clicks on one characteristic of the Table, a new WebTemplate should open up in the iframe with detail-information.
    With a redefined render-class I have bound a JavaScript-function to the onclick-event of the characteristic.
    In the start-method of the class I have submitted the JavaScript-function.
    This function creates a URL and calls SAPBWOpenURL(URL). With alert-functions I have secured, that the function is called with the proper values. But, under no circumstances, the URL opens up.
    Then I have thought about a wrong URL and created a button, which can be clicked and calls the same function. With this button the URL opens without any hassle.
    So, it seems, that everything is fine, the function is properly set up, the values are transferred, but on clicking a characteristic in the table, the URL is not working.
    What I am missing?
    Best regards
    Frank

    Frank,
    Can you explain me where you put the necessary javascript? We want to do the same but do not know where to put the code? Is it in the Webtemplate itself or on one of the java directories on the portal?
    Kind regards,
    Jeroen

  • OnClick event for a button

    hi! i did up a form using the wizard and added an extra button besides the usual update,reset etc.
    i need the onClick event of the extra button to call up a pl/sql procedure, pass in a parameter and ideally open up the report/chart in a new window and without the toolbars etc.
    i tried the following:
    phang.aresulttally?qid_p='QUESTION_RESULT.MASTER_BLOCK.QID.01.value'
    where QUESTION_RESULT.MASTER_BLOCK.QID.01.value is a text box value from the form.
    It gives me some scripting error when i run the form.
    but if i use the following:
    phang.aresulttally?qid_p=2
    it works and opens in a new window?!
    pls advise.
    thx

    For the onClick javascript event of the new button, call your own javascript function as:-
    myFunc(this);return;
    Then, you need to generate this javascript function using pl/sql in the Additional pl/sql Section - ... before displaying the page or ... after displaying the page.
    The code to get the value of a field and to open a new window would look something like :-
    htp.p('
    <script>
    function myFunc(ele)
    var l_form = ele.form;
    var win;
    var val;
    var l_url = "<url>?";
    for (var i = 0; i < l_form.length ; i++){
    if (l_form.elements.name == "QUESTION_RESULT.MASTER_BLOCK.QID.01"){
    val = l_form.elements[i].value;
    l_url = l_url+val;
    win=window.open(l_url);
    </script>

  • How to access the controller method from javascript onclick event?

    Hi All,
       I am totally new to development. And I got struck in calling a controller method from javascript function.
       I have no idea about ajax and all those things. Please can anyone help me to solve this issue!
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    As I know, you can use jQuery to do this, here is an example.
    Example of your Controller Method.
    [HttpPost] // can be HttpGet
    public ActionResult Test(string id)
    bool isValid = yourcheckmethod(); //.. check
    var obj = new {
    valid = isValid
    return Json(obj);
    and this would be your javascript function.
    function checkValidId(checkId)
    $.ajax({
    url: 'controllerName/Test',
    type: 'POST',
    contentType: 'application/json;',
    data: JSON.stringify({ id: checkId }),
    success: function (valid)
    if(valid) { //show that id is valid }
    else { //show that id is not valid }
    If you have further issues, I would suggest you move to MVC forum, it is appropriate and more experts will assist you.

  • Javascript click events to my UIWebView stop firing after evalJS

    I have a Dashcode developed webapp that I ported to a UIWebView object in Xcode. I have a menu in native obj-C that the user can touch, to send messages via evalJS to the webapp. The webapp responds accordingly and changes the view of my stackLayout with setCurrentView. But it usually then stops responding to user clicks. I can still scroll up and down. I can still navigate with the native obj-C nav bar, but nothing from my javascript onClick events. I confirmed as best I can that the events are no longer firing and that its not a javascript code error on my part. It even still works briefly, but then stops working again after a few seconds. I suspect that's just lag in whatever disabled it.
    Does the UIWebView disable user interaction with the javascript engine? Or is the javascript engine disabling events? Either way, why is it disabled and what do I do to reenable it? Debugging is very difficult since the two tools don't work well together.

    I monitored the isUserActionEnabled property from the UIWebView, and it does not change when the error occurs. When the user touches a button on the native code side, it sends an evalJS command to execute a javascript function called navigationHomeCall(). When I debug this in Dashcode, and call the function in the Evaluator Window, it does the same thing. It stops the javascript from receiving anymore events. However, if I keep calling my navigationHomeCall, navigationBackCall, and navigationForwardCall functions from in the Evaluator Window, the events will eventually start working again. Sometimes it takes 1 or 2 calls before it works. Sometimes more. But once it starts working, another call will stop it working again.
    It seems that evalJS can randomly enable or disable javascript events. I looked through the javascript object model to see if what, if any, properties change to cause this but the model is huge, I can only see maybe 20 properties on the screen at a time, and Dashcode keeps changing the window to the Run Log everytime I make the call to invoke the error. It makes troubleshooting very slow.
    Has anybody successfully used evalJS and javascript events without any problems? I'm not the first one to try this, am I?

  • Unable to capture onClick event of htmlb:image in a controller

    Hi,
    I am trying to capture onClick event of an htmlb:image (which is present in my view) in DO_HANDLE_EVENT method of my controller.
    Surprisingly, when I click the image, page does refreshes. But the event in not captured in do_handle_event method. Control never reaches that method. Whereas if I put onClick event of a button, it is easily captured in do_handle_event method.
    Ex. code in my view is:
    <%@page language="abap"%>
    <%@extension name="bsp" prefix="bsp" %>
    <%@extension name="htmlb" prefix="htmlb"%>
        <htmlb:image id      = "searchimg"
                     src     = "consvalue.jpg"
                     onClick = "search"  />
        <htmlb:button id="searchbutton" onClick="search"
                                     text="Event Test"/>
    Now, the button event is captured, but not the image event.
    Any idea why this might be happening?
    Regards,
    Kaushal

    Hi Kaushal,
    are image and button enclosed by <htmlb:form> ?
    Please post your of do_handle_event, where you look for the event.

  • Javascript Submit button onclick event handler

    Hi,
    I am having trouble getting the onclick event handler of a form to execute when the button is pressed. I am trying to open a page in a new window depending on if the user selects that option in a checkbox.
    There is one form(id='graphform') and 2 submit buttons, each with a checkbox before it. I want the new window to open only iuf the right checkbox and matching submit button has been checked.
    One of the checkbox/button pair: The onclick="checkWindow('w1','graphform');" is never getting called.
    <input type="checkbox" id="w1" name="win1" style="margin-right: 10px" value="window"  onclick="javascript:document.gform.win1[0].checked = true;"><a style="margin-right: 10px">Graph in new window</a>
    <input type="submit" value="Create graph" onmouseover="this.form.cumulat.value='0';this.form.graphGroup.value='Consumption'; document.getElementById('hintSubmitStop').value='1';" onclick="checkWindow('w1','graphform');" onmouseout="document.getElementById('hintSubmitStop').value='0';" /></td></tr>Javascript window opener:
    function checkWindow(win1, str){
              var formObj = document.getElementById(str);
         var checkBoxObj = document.getElementById(win1);
         if(checkBoxObj1.checked == true){
                   formObj.target = "_blank";
                   formObj.action = "graphDisplayFrame.jsp";
         else if(checkBoxObj1.checked == false){
                   formObj.target = "_self";
                   formObj.action = "graphDisplay.jsp";
    }Any suggestions?
    J

    You're storing the value in "checkBoxObj" and in the next line you use different variable name as "checkBoxObj1".
         var checkBoxObj = document.getElementById(win1);
         if(checkBoxObj1.checked == true){
    instead of "true', try      if(checkBoxObj.checked == 1){

  • Associating two events with submit button using  javascript in jsp

    Hi
    How can i Associate two events with submit button using javascript in jsp. Firstly it should insert the data to database and secondly it should close the same pop-up window

    Have something like :
    <input type="submit" name="submitbtn" value="Click me" onClick="function1(); function2(); " />
    You just call both functions sequentially, it's that simple. Although using javascript to work with a database, that seems a bit tricky.

  • Htmlb:button  onClick event

    Hi experts I'm using follwoing code  for htmlb :button
              <htmlb:button       id            = "myButton2"
                                text          = "<%= v_save %>"
                               tooltip       = "<%= v_save %>"
                               onClick       = "approveClick"
                               design        = "emphasized"
           />
    and in
    do_handle_event  I'm using followin code
    DATA : button_event TYPE REF TO cl_htmlb_event_button,
             event1 TYPE REF TO cl_htmlb_event.
      event1 = cl_htmlb_manager=>get_event(  runtime->server->request ).
      CASE event1->server_event.
        WHEN 'approveClick'.
          button_event  ?= event1 .
    <   some code >
    ENDCASE.
    when i clicked the button it is not going into do_handle_event
    I'm unable to capture onclick event of button .I tried it by keeping some break points .But couldn't be ableto capture it
    Here I'm using MVC pattern .When one check box clicked in view of another controller  the page which contains this button will be displayed.Do i need to write any additional code for it

    There are 2 kind of break-points.
    1. Session break-points - This will wok only to debug normal ABAP codes.
    2. External break-points - This will help you to debug BSP/Webdynpro application.
    Set the external-break point to figure out whether its triggering the events or not.
    <b>
    To set the external Break-points:</b>
    Before settings the external-break-point, you need to Active External break-point for HTTP. YOu can find this option in
    SE80, in
    Utilites--> Break-point/External break-point or Utilites--> External break-point --> Set External break-point
    or if you dont find, then
    utilities-->setttings -> ABAP Workbench -> look at the debugger tab
    & find the external Debugging check box or External Debugging user ID. Give SAP User ID
    Also have a look at this..

  • Capture onclick event on flash object using javascript

    May the admins forgive me if this is in the wrong forum.
    How to capture the onclick event on a web page when the click
    happens on an embedded flash object?
    You can't. At least not in IE. For some arcane reason either
    microsofts developers or the flash guys decided to overrule the DOM
    in IE.
    So the onclick event is never fired, in any browsers, when
    the user clicks an embedded flash object like this:
    However there's a workaround. Add the wmode="transparent"
    parameter. This make the onclick event okay in Firefox, but still
    not IE - where the flash movie is transparent the click event
    fires, but only those places.
    Instead use the onmousedown and onmouseup events which fires
    anywhere on the flash.

    >
    I tried each of the following in the the Element HTML Form Element Attributes for the File Browse item:
    onClick=javascript:alert(this.value);
    onClick=javascript:popupURL('http://www.google.com');
    onFocus=javascript:alert(this.value);
    onChange=javascript:alert(this.value);And what happened?
    [A few points on good practice:
    1. In the XHTML normally used in APEX 4.0 mark-up, all XHTML, including attribute/event handler names, should be in lower case: <tt>onclick</tt>, <tt>onfocus</tt>, <tt>onchange</tt>...
    2. Attribute values should always be quoted.
    3. The <a href="http://crisp.tweakblogs.net/blog/313/the-useless-javascript-pseudo-protocol.html">"javascript:" pseudo-protocol is evil</a>. There are a few places in APEX where we may have to resort to using it as URL is all we're offered to work with, but it's always better to use an event handler of some kind, either inline or (better) registered dynamically at runtime following the principles of <a href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Unobtrusive_JavaScript">unobtrusive JavaScript</a>. +It absolutely should not be used in inline event handlers.+
    So:
    {code}
    onclick="alert(this.value);"
    etc

  • Using javascript to detect the onclick event over a datatable row

    Hi all,
    I'm working with JSF 1.2 R.I. and I would like to add some javascript to my datatable to be able to control the onclick event on a row.
    At the moment I have just added a checkbox to be able to know which row the user wants to select but I'm not satisfied with this solution.
    <h:dataTable
    value="#{person_iupopulations_Observation.customer}" var="customer"
    rowClasses="evenRow,oddRow"
    cellspacing="0">
    <h:column>
    <f:facet name="header">
    <h:outputText value="Select" />
    </f:facet>
    <h:selectBooleanCheckbox value="" onclick="getRow(this)">
    </h:selectBooleanCheckbox>
    </h:column>
    <h:column>
    <f:facet name="header">
    <h:outputText value="Name" />
    </f:facet>
    <h:outputText value="#{customer.Name}"></h:outputText>
    </h:column>
    </h:dataTable>
    What I would like to achieve is:
    When the user clicks the row (wherever, not only the checkbox) the checkbox changes to the new value depending, off course, on the user's selection.
    For this purpose I would need to add the onclick event to every row and associate it to a javascript function to update the checkbox.
    Can anybody help me please.
    I appreciate any suggestion.
    Thanks in advance!

    I am looking for answers on how to use javascript to detect the onclick event over a datatable row . I have a selectBooleanCheckBox in one of the columns in the every row in the table. On click of the checkbox in any row of the table, I want to get some values from the selected row and also verify that the rest of the checkboxes in all the other columns are unchecked. I want to do this using javascript. If any of you have answers, please repsond. Thanks.

  • Javascript attach onClick event

    I have some Flash 3rd party objects on my website that are
    used for various reasons. I'd like to know when a user clicks on
    them, but I don't have access to the source.
    Is it possible to attach OnClick events to a Flash object via
    javascript? Or is there a recommended way to receive notification
    when a click occurs on the Flash object?
    In Javascript I can get the object in question, but I haven't
    found a way to attach onClick events. Please help.

    You can set up systems to catch click-throughs, but they
    require the correct line of code to be put into the Flash movie
    (which you've said you can't do)
    I take it you've tried adding an onClick="..." attribute to
    the object tag?
    e.g. just test it with:
    <object onClick="alert('This works!');" etc
    >...</object>
    Then try clicking on the movie and see if an alert box pops
    up... I can't say I've tried it though, it's quite likely when the
    Flash is active it handles all mouse responses so the javascript
    might not detect them

  • Another Javascript issue (CheckBox onClick event)

    Hello All,
    I am using NWDS04s Adobe Designer 7.1.
    I created a IF with a TextField on it and a CheckBox. What i would like to do is, when the checkbox is checked, the TextField should disappear (TextField1.Presence = "hidden").
    I wrote this script in the OnClick event of the Checkbox:
    if (CheckBox1.rawValue == "1") {
                TextField1.presence = "hidden";
    }else {
                 TextField1.presence = "visible";
    When i deploy my WD you could guess, it's not working ;-((
    Is there something i am doing wrong??
    When i place this code in the Initialize event of the CheckBox and change the If statement to CheckBox1.rawValue == "0" it works as expected.
    Hope somebody can help me or try it on there machines. Maybe it's a bug.
    Thx in advance.

    Currently, if the radio button is clicked then text box is

    thanks
    YES
    i will be submitting data to a field in the database.
    First the vlaue of the radio Button
    For example if the first radio button
    then the value of the first radio button value =1
    goes to the field in the database
    also
    the text box that will show. will have data entered in the
    tesx box and the value will be submitted
    to a field.
    thanks
    shall i still use your code????
    thanks
    also, instead of having 2 javascripts controlling the show
    hide, just join them and assume that at each click the div is
    visible.
    the first part of the if statement in the js just makes sure
    the div's display is none. then it displays the one you are
    calling.
    the else allows you to close the divs without having any
    open.
    i'm doing this from home, so i cant really test it, but, it
    looks like it should work.
