Javascript Setiing default to blank

I created a contract form in adobe acrobat pro x and I have been using simplified field notation. What it currently does is calculate 5% of the contract amount into several boxes in the form. This is the equation I am currently using.
Calc2_A * 0.05
When I leave box "Calc2_A" blank it sets the default value of the area its being calculated in as $0.00
I think what I need is a javascript conditional statement that says if box = blank then calculation should be blank, not $0.00.
I am very new to the program so maybe there is something I am missing.
Any help is greatly appreciated
Thank You

You could create a custom calculation script that looks like:
(function () {
    // Get the field value, as a string
    var s = getField("Calc2_A").valueAsString;
    // If the field is not blank, perform the calculation. Otherwise set this field to blank
    event.value = s ? 0.05 * s : "";
Since it's an area and not a dollar amount, set the formatting option of the fields to not include a currency symbol.

  • Javascript:showPrintPDF opens a blank window

    I use a courier site which opens a new window to view and print the labels for parcels, using "javascript:showPrintPDF". Firefox opens a blank window with no content.

    I'm not sure anyone can diagnose this for you without registering for the site, so here are some suggestions for self-help.
    Question: Did it work before and stop working recently? If so:

    When you have a problem with one particular site, a good "first thing to try" is clearing your Firefox cache and deleting your saved cookies for the site.
    1. Clear Firefox's Cache
    orange Firefox button ''or'' Tools menu > Options > Advanced
    On the Network mini-tab > Offline Storage : "Clear Now"
    2. If needed, delete the site's cookies here
    While viewing a page on the site, right-click and choose View Page Info > Security > "View Cookies"
    Then try reloading the page. Does that help?
    (B)
    To rule out the possibility that an add-on is interfering, can you test in Firefox's Safe Mode?
    First, I recommend backing up your Firefox settings in case something goes wrong. See [https://support.mozilla.com/en-US/kb/Backing+up+your+information Backing up your information]. (You can copy your entire Firefox profile folder somewhere outside of the Mozilla folder.)
    Next, restart Firefox in [http://support.mozilla.com/kb/Safe+Mode Safe Mode] using
    Help > Restart with Add-ons Disabled
    In the Safe Mode dialog, do not check any boxes, just click "Continue in Safe Mode."
    If the window populates correctly, this points to an add-on or custom setting or perhaps a saved password as the problem. A few things to work through.
    If the site doesn't load correctly, we would have to consider other factors.
    Any luck?

  • Make calculated fields default to blank - format with currency when filled

    Hi!
    I'm creating a standard invoice. quantity x price = subtotal...
    I don't want a column of zeros strewn across my page, so I found a simple bit of javascript online render the fields blank when valued at zero:
    if (event.value == 0) {
    event.value = ''
    My 'working' knowledge of javascript is limited at best... but that seems to do the job nicely. The next problem arises when I then try to format these fields as currency.
    The simplest way to do this is through the format tab in the field properties, but doing so seems to remove the formatting applied through scripts since that would be a different formatting option.
    So it would seem if I'm going to use a script to render the feilds blank, I'll also need to use a script to format the feilds as currency?
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks

    Ah ha! Always nice when the solution is simpler than expected.
    Working perfectly now, thanks!

  • Helpservice called with javascript leads to a blank page

    Dear Gurus!!!!!
    First of all thanks a lot for your future answers.
    I am desperatly trying to open a help service within a web template.
    I had a look to the following post
    Unable to Call Help Service Class
    and also to the "enhance web printing" how to document.
    Both documentation were really helpfull.
    The service I call works perfectly.
    The problem is that when I call the service, it leads to a session timeout.
    I do not know what I can do.
    Here is the javascript embended in my web template code:
    The objective is to write the selected date from the drop down box into the table TVARVC (this is what my service does).
    // I get the selected date from the drop down box
    selected_date=document.getElementsByName("FILTER_VALUE_1")[0].options[selectedindex].text;
    //I get the SAP_BW_URL
    BW_URL='<SAP_BW_URL>';
    // I fill the CMD part of the final url
    cmd="&CMD=PROCESS_HELP_WINDOW&help_service=ZTVARVC_INTERVAL&item=DROPDOWNBOX_1&TEXT="+selected_date;
    // I assign the new url calling the service to the document location
    location.href = BW_URL + cmd;
    <strike>When I execute the web template, the date is correctly set into the table TVARVC but the session always times out.
    "400 Session timed out - please log in again"
    </strike>h
    The html page result is a blank page and the web template result disappear.
    To sum up, I just would like to write the selected date from the dropdown box into the table TVARVC without affecting the template result html page.
    Can you please help me?
    Thanks a lot!
    regards,
    Cyril Naudes.
    PS: no need to ask for valuation... I will do it of course valuate the helpfull answers!

  • Distiller 'default settings' blank and doesn't show all job options

    We're experiencing a problem with Adobe Distiller 9.3.0 being blank next to "Default Settings" with the error, "Error in /Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PDF/Settings/PDFX4 2008.joboptions: /CheckCompliance out of range".
    I can delete that joboptions file, which removes the error message, but the Default Settings pulldown menu still is blank and doesn't show all of the joboptions files that it should.  Only 2 of them are showing up in the pulldown.
    How can I fix this?
    I've tried deleting all joboptions files and letting Adobe self repair them and have tried deleting a few com.adobe.distiller* preference files and nothing yet seems to work.
    Thanks!

    I am connected to a network but we don't share applications. CS5 Design Premium is installed on my machine.
    See screenshot below:
    What is the relevance of this? We seem to have the same location for the output module file.
    Why does mine not work?
    See screenshot below:
    The Adobe Output Module is in my Startup Scripts but it still doesn't work.

  • Execute Javascript, window.print(), prints blank page in Captivate 7

    Hello,
    I'm fairly new to Captivate, and am no Javascript expert.  I've been trying to figure out how to print the last slide in project, which has a custom certificate.  I initially tried the print widget that comes with Captivate 7, but the scaling is off when printed.  There are no options to change the scale of the printed slide on the widget properties, so that seemed to be a bust.  I then tried to create a button to execute javascript when clicked.  In the script window I put, window.print(); now this works to bring up the print box, but only prints a blank page.  I'm not sure if it's something I'm doing wrong with javascript.  I've been reading other forum posts, and this function seems to work for others using different versions of Captivate.
    I know there is a cool print widget that someone has made, but I'd actually prefer to just do this with javascript.  I haven't tried the buyable print widget yet, but I am trying not to use widgets so that the html can be scalable.
    I'm publishing my projects and uploading them to GoogleDrive, where I then preview the html output.
    I'd appreciate any help.  Thanks!
    Kailey

    Wow, thank you for such a speedy response Rick.  I've actually been using Firefox and Google Chrome, because IE isn't updated enough to work with Google Drive properly (and I don't want to go through the whole process to get privileges to update on work computer).  But I did check this box in Firefox.  Instead of printing the objects on my slide, it printed a big square light grey background.  It's almost like the the browser can't see the project.
    I would think this was a browser problem, but I had previously downloaded a trial of Articulate (trying to decide between the two), which has the same execute javascript function as Captivate.  Putting in window.print();, publishing, and uploading to Google Drive, printed just fine.  Not sure if something in the code in Captivate isn't coming through, but is in Articulate.  I'm not versed in html or javascript enough to compare the two html files.
    Back to the drawing board!  Thanks for your help.

  • Default the blank value for MessageChoice

    Hi,
    I have created a Message Choice Bean and I require to have a blank value as the first value followed by the original values. How to achieve this ?
    I have also tried setting through personalization 'Add Blank Value' to 'true' and also tried with the function 'setAllowBlankValue(true)' for the messagechoice bean. But its not working.
    Please help me by giving the valuable suggestions to achieve the above.
    With Thanks,
    Thiyagarajan

    The only possible case of this happening, is you might have made required property as true, which removes blank value because if value is required in messagechoiceebean, then blank alue can not be included.

  • Acrobat 9 Pro: Order Form, need SUM=blank? and not $0.00 (HELP!!!)

    I know this might be an easy question for people with javascript knowledge.... but I can't get this working... please help!
    I need Order Form total field (sum) to default to blank (instead of $0.00).
    *example: Under >calculate I am using "simplified field notation" and (Qty1)*7.95 -- sum appears in "total 1"
         The unit price is $7.95 - The value of Qty1 = total 1 (calculations are working fine)
         Currently all total boxes read as $0.00 --- I need SUM to be blank until a customer selects a quantity
    How can I make the SUM default to blank? and NOT $0.00 - Is it a validation script??? If so, please help with code!!!
    Help is appreciated - Thanks!
    PS - SUM fields can't be set as non-printing, because Shipping Dept./Accounting Dept. needs ability to print and view totals (if amount is selected - otherwise it could be blank).
    *** SUM fields need to be blank for customers who print form and manually enter data & totals...
    I am using a Mac, and Adobe Acrobat 9 Pro

    I appreciate the reply... (it's been many hours without one)
    I tried the validation script, and as you indicated, the only way the total field (with the validation script) appears blank is AFTER the Reset button is clicked. (However I have not checked this in a reader)
    I can't see how I can make it work in that manner. Customer inputs Billing & Delivery Addresses at top, then proceeds to select products. If the reset button has to be pressed, all the data (ie. addresses) are removed.
    If there was a way to apply the reset function automatically at the opening of the pdf doc. then it would achieve the result I need. I wonder if there isn't a way with a check box at the top that customer clicks which would apply the reset function.
    If you (or anyone) has any further tips or help I would appreciate it. This is the last item the client has requested for change.
    PS. In case anyone can think of a print script to use... The sum value, when =0 (no qty) needs to print blank sum fields (not $0.00) BUT if there is a sum value, the amount must print (for Ship/Acct Depts)
    *** I just thought of something... The only time where the sum value needs to be blank is when customer prints and inputs data by hand.... so, would there be a way to add a print button that can also clear the sum values at the same time with the "reset" function and the validation script???

  • Gregorian to hijri and viceversa javascript

    I have a Javascript for a Hijri / Gregorian calendar.
    I need to get it into Adobe Acrobat PDF.
    The business requirements for this are easy. Just take the script i give you and get it to work in Adobe Acrobat PDF.
    The technical side is tricky. I haven't been able to make it work. When I do it, the conversion works 1 time when you first open the document. then, it only works one way after that. (from gregorian to hijri, never the other way around.)
    1. This MUST be done in Acrobat XI, Not LiveCycle.
    2. I'm using Adobe Acrobat XI Pro. I can't use any other version right now. So this must be able to work on XI and then people need to be able to open and execute this in Reader.
    Here is the code I have written from a HTM file..

    Hi,
    Issue 1 - it doesn't convert to Hijri date, only Julian date for Hijri (doesn't show the Hijri date but does show two Gregorian dates).
    I am sorry I don't actually know how to convert between the dates, I only used the code that you provided in your initial post and called that from the Acrobat PDF form,
    The sample I provided is how to call the code above using Acrobat.
    Issue 2 -  I want to be able to have the dates default (if blank) to today's date
    That is easy enough to do in that you just use JavaScript to get the current date and time using the Date object.
    And it can convert dynamically as you could just attach the code to the change or exit events of the objects that you are using to select the date and run the code.
    I kept my sample simple and used buttons so it is easy for everyone to see how the code is called as you can look at the preferences of each button to see the JavaScript that is used.

  • Difficulty Automating Javascript Web Form

    I want to automate filling out a javascript form on a secure website.  I apologize but am not able to give the site url, and you couldn't access it if I did.  It is a form we fill out often at work.
    There is one "select" drop down box that has two options, first is blank, second is "General Reference" -default is blank and an "onchange" command then populates the form with several other elements, two text fields which also
    need to be filled out.
    Because the user must be signed into the website already (we are not allowed to automate logins), my code so far grabs the correct open web browser and sets it as an object shell.
    Although I can control the browser and have tested it by changing url locations, it seems as though I have no access to the document, innertext, or form elements.  I don't know what I'm doing wrong.  It's as though the IE.document is completely
    blank.  But I can clearly see it under "View Source."
    Although I attempt to "getElementsByTagName" it never works, regardless of which tag name I use.
    Here is the code I have so far:
    Sub testingThisWorksToGrabOpenWeb2()
    Set objShell = CreateObject("Shell.Application")
    IE_count = objShell.Windows.Count
    For x = 0 To (IE_count - 1)
    On Error Resume Next ' sometimes more web pages are counted than are open'
    my_url = objShell.Windows(x).document.Location
    my_title = objShell.Windows(x).document.Title
    If InStr(my_title, "ARCIS") Then
    Set IE = objShell.Windows(x)
    Set objCollection = IE.document.getElementsByTagName("select")
    MsgBox objCollection.Length
    '*** No matter what tagname is used it comes back as zero'
    '*** There should be 3 "select" drop down lists showing, but they don''t'
    Exit For
    Else
    End If
    Next
    'here is the tag I need to change from blank to "General Reference"'
    '<select name="s_2_1_43_0" onchange = ''SWESubmitForm(document.SWEForm2_0,s_7,"","1-E5BYAR")'
    ' style="height:24;width:140" id="s_2_1_43_0" tabindex=1997 >'
    '<option value="" >'
    '<option value="General Reference" >General Reference'
    End Sub

    Thank you Luna.  But the above code is VBA and I am attempting to automate a form in IE through EXCEL.  Probably should have mentioned that above though I'm pretty sure this was the right spot for this question.  Can you move it back to VBA
    please?
    With that said, I've solved this problem.  I had a frames issue and did not realize that.
    When I right clicked on the browser and selected "View Code" it brought up the document within that particular frame that I clicked on.  I haven't worked with IE in a while and did not know the young programmers at MS had made that change to the browser.
    Doing that in the past would have brought up the top document, which defined the frames and the VBA developer could easily see that he was dealing with frames and what their names were.  This time it took me two days to figure that out.  Good idea,
    just wish I had known about it.
    Anyone in the future with the same problem might print out your outtertext to see exactly what it is.  In my case I discovered it was nested frames.  I was beating myself in the head tryig to figure out why I couldn't find the elements I was looking
    for.  It was because my script was accessing the top frameset document.
    Here is the adjusted code showing how I found the frame documents I needed.  It was double nested:
    Sub getOpenBrowserAndFillFormInFrame()
    ' this script grabs open browser with specific url and '
    ' changes a drop down list item inside a nested frame '
    ' Then fires onchange event to repopulate form elements '
    ' Next step: Get names of new fields to fill out '
    Dim HTMLdoc As HTMLDocument
    Dim myString As String
    Dim resultClasses, resultClass, resultClasses1, resultClass1
    ' The section below locates correct browser and assigns it '
    ' to object IE'
    Set objShell = CreateObject("Shell.Application")
    IE_count = objShell.Windows.Count
    For x = 0 To (IE_count - 1)
    On Error Resume Next
    my_url = objShell.Windows(x).document.Location
    my_title = objShell.Windows(x).document.Title
    If InStr(my_title, "ARCIS") Then
    Set IE = objShell.Windows(x)
    Exit For
    End If
    Next x
    ' The section below sets variable to correct frame document, '
    ' sets variable to the correct "select" list,'
    ' and changes that list to show list item # 1'
    Set HTMLdoc = IE.document.frames("_sweclient").document.frames("_sweview").document
    Dim suffixSelect As HTMLSelectElement
    Set suffixSelect = HTMLdoc.getElementsByName("s_2_1_43_0")(0)
    If optionIndex >= 0 Then
    suffixSelect.selectedIndex = 1
    End If
    ' The above code changes the dropdown box but does not fire the '
    ' onchange event. The code below does that in order to place additional '
    ' text boxes and drop down lists to the form through the sites javascript '
    HTMLdoc.all("s_2_1_43_0").FireEvent ("onchange")
    End Sub

  • My iBook has a blank page at the beginning of each chapter. How do I delete?

    I have a blank page offset to the left at the beginning of each chapter. How do I delete them?

    The first selectable template is "Basic"...  the  template - and any others have placeholder text and images excepting pages "Default" and Blank.  The "Default" page accepts flowing text. "Blank" is just that with only any BG image and page numbering decided in the template.
    Nothing  you describe seems to be part of just opening a standard template.
    Below are screen shots from the  book tree and  the layouts - these are the "Basic" template pages without any modifications.
    Any of the pages  shown in the tree can be deleted. Chapter and Sections will also delete any pages added under them.

  • Defaulting Date Parameters

    Post Author: tegage
    CA Forum: Formula
    I have many reports that allow the user to specifiy a starting and ending date range.  I would like the reports to default to all dates.  I can do this by defaulting the start date to "01-01-2000" and the end date to "12-31-2099", but then the calendar tool is useless since there is no TODAY button on the calendar tool and it picks up the default date, i.e., the users will have to do a lot of scrolling through the calendar tool.
    The other way is to make the starting and ending date parameters strings and use values like Today, This Week, This Month,....  and reolve them in the record selection formula.   This would be nice, but then if the user wants a specific date range, they don't have the calendar tool to use.
    Is there a way to take advange of the user-friendliness of string values and still have the calendar tool to use?

    Thanks much for the response.
    I had done exactly what you described - I had a string parameter for Today, This Week, etc and a set of date parameters - Starting and Ending Date.  But, in order to use the Starting and Ending dates in a formula, I had to provide them a default value - leaving them blank causes the record selection formula to explode.  The issue here is that the calendar tool picks up the default value instead of showing today's date.
    I did more web surfing and found the answer on the Business Objects web site.  The solution let me do what you suggested AND keep the Starting and Ending date parameters as Date types and defaulted to blank by making them optional parameters.
    From the Business Objects web site (why isn't this stuff in the user's guide?):
    2.  Control over default values.
    3.  Request for an 'ALL' value.
    Both of requirements 2 and 3 are met with the new optional parameter feature of CR 2008.  When a parameter is flagged as 'optional', the report can execute without that value being set.  The trick here is that any formula that attempts to reference an optional parameters that doesn't have a value set will return an error.  So we've introduced the new HasValue() function which allows you to check and see if the parameter has a value.
    This is really powerful, because now you can reference your parameters indirectly through another formula (or custom function) that checks if the parameter has a value or not.  If it does, then the formula returns the parameter value.  If it doesn't, then it can return whatever default value you wish.  So if you want the default to be the day before, or last Friday, then you can code that logic into your formula that uses HasValue to check if the parameter has a value set or not.
    Optional parameters were also intended to solve the 'All' problem.  Basically, you want a parameter to participate in a record selection formula only if it has a value.  If it doesn't, then you want that filter to be disabled.  By using optional parameters and HasValue() in your record selection (and new saved data section) formulas, you can include conditions in your filter only if the parameters in those conditions have a value.

  • Default Values in IW73 Selection screen

    Hello Experts,
    SAP transaction IW73 has a default entry 100004731 for functional location.
    Please guide me how to remove this entry and defaulted to blank?
    Thanks!!!
    Br,

    Hi,
    Generally default values can be assigned to transaction by BADI implementation. So, search for the BADI of IW73 transaction and deactivate the implementation.
    Hope this will be helpful for you.
