Javaw name in Windows

Hello,
I have created a number of small java programs that I am running in windows using the javaw command so it doesnt display a command prompt. These programs have no interface and just sit in the background going about there jobs. However, if i look in the windows task manager I have several entries for "javaw.exe" corresponding to each program. What i need to be able to do is distinguish between these entries, for example instead of displaying "javaw.exe" it would be good to see the name of the program instead. I realise that this may defeat the idea of platform independance, but is there anyway that this can be done?
Thanks
Neil

Note that if you go down the route of using services,
the service name only shows up in the "service
manager" application, looking at the Windows Task
Manager will still report on the underlying executable
name, so if you need to determine which
application/service is, for example, hogging the CPU,
using service names won't really help you, renaming
the underlying executable is the only real way to go.hm.. In my case, they all named differently. I don't see my java processes in task manager. We need to ship that to the customers.
We used a tool to install the service, that tool is creating a wrapper excutable to host a command as service. You know, a service needs to provide some APIs to Windows' service manager to query its status.
Come to think about it, the wrapper may have done some renaming business internally, I am not sure.

I bought a new laptop with Windows 7. My computer name in Windows has changed, and now, my Ipad can't find Itunes, and Itunes can't find my Ipad. [email protected]

Ok, if reinstalling iTunes as suggested above does not resolve the issue of iTunes recognising the iPad then try this -
Firstly, make sure that your device is not hidden (left hand pane). If it just reads device then toggle between SHOW and HIDE.
Secondly, try all the other ports on your computer, even a number of times.
Thirdly, make sure your lead /connections are no faulty.
Fourthly, if you have another computer try plugging your device into it without taking any action, give it a moment, remove it and try it back in your other computer again.
Failing all that, see here - http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1538
And failing all that put the device into Recovery mode. See here and note the paragraph 'If you restore from a different computer.... ' down near the bottom of the page -
    http://www.apple.com/support/ipad/assistant/itunes/
As for making your new laptop your 'home computer' follow these instructions -
    1. Without connecting your iPad to your computer -
    A) Install iTunes / make sure the latest version of iTunes is installed.
    B) Go to the Store tab and click on "Authorise This Computer".
    C) Go to Edit, click on Preferences [iTunes and Preferences on Macs] and click on Devices. Put a check mark in the box next to "Prevent  iPods/iPhones/iPads from syncing automatically". Click OK and close iTunes.
    2.  Connect your iPad to your computer -
    A) Start iTunes (it will not start automatically because of the action at 1(C) above).
    B) Right click on your iPad under Devices in the left column. Select "Transfer purchases".
    C) When the transfer has completed, right click on your iPad again and select "Backup".
    D) When the backup has completed, left click on your iPad, click on the Apps tab, and put a check mark in the box next to "Sync Apps", and then click on "Apply" (bottom right).
    E) Unless you want to always do a manual sync (as I do), go back to Edit, Preferences [iTunes and Preferences on Macs] and uncheck the box next to "Prevent your iPod.....".
    F) Finally, on your iPad, check that everything is syncing properly. If not, go back to iTunes and check all settings.
NB You should not lose any apps. However, any 'purchased' missing apps can be downloaded again FOC. As with updates, this must be done with the Apple ID under which they were originally 'purchased'.

  • Extremely annoying problem with user folder name in windows 8.1

    Here is the thing:
Friend of mine bought the laptop (very strong and expensive asus - republic of gamers) with installed windows 8.1 on it, but after a few days only I bought that computer from him because he didn't need it and he didn't use it at all!
But, his name stayed in the windows. I changed all user accounts names and everything which was possible to be changed, but when i go to C/users his name is still there on folder!
I can say it is very annoying because that laptop cost almost 3.000  USD and I still need to look at someone else's  name in my user folder!
I tried to change "ProfileImagePath" in: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\ .... but after that windows logged in as a temporary profile and I spend another hour to figure out
    how to reverse the thing!
How is possible that some so basic and simple things can't be changed at all in newest windows??? Only because some name was entered first it's not possible to be changed ever again???? Seriously?
Not only this problem, there is too many problems with this windows 8.1! Too many! You definitely made  the worst thing ever!
I am extremely unhappy and upset with this operative system! I,m cursing the day when i gave so much money for computer with crap called windows 8.1!!!!
    Very very angry!!!
(P.S English is not my native language)

    Hi,
According to your description, it seems that you have resolve that issue.
Not only this problem, there is too many problems with this windows 8.1! Too many! You definitely made  the worst thing ever!
Please let us know what problem did you encounter? Please give us more detailed information in order to provide the further help.
Here is a overall guide for you to know well the Windows 8.1
    Windows 8.1: frequently asked questions
No Karen, I didn't resolve the issue.
I asked very simple question how to change something so basic like user folder name in Windows 8.1
    You know:  "C:/Users/"user name"
All the links you are giving to me doesn't provide any concrete answer to this question. I spent hours and hours googling and researching about this question and only solution which i found is that i need to create completely new user account and delete completely
the old one, just to be able to remove an old name of user folder! Are you kidding me?
How is possible that such a basic thing is so complicated?
Is there any way to change folder user name in any other way because i don't want to create a new user account!
Simple question, but, like always, no any concrete answers - just some empty talks, and totally useless links and SPINNING IN THE CIRCLE all the time without the CONCRETE solution.
As for part of my post which you quoted, and your request for more informations in order to provide me further help, i just gave it to you again. I want to change user folder name. What you don't understand in that question?
    UPDATE:
Ok, i came back to edit this post because i have a feeling that maybe you don't understand the question and giving me this link because maybe you simply don't know that when you go to:
Control panel/user accounts/change your account name... and change the name, and after that, when you go to C:/users, the folder with the user name still have an old user name. Which means that any changes in control panel or anywhere else doesn't make any
    changes on C:/users/  folder itself!!!!!
In previous windows versions was possible to change it by editing "ProfileImagePath" in:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\ProfileList\ ....
But when I try to do that in Windows 8.1, when I reboot computer it logs in with some temporary account, so i need to reverse everything to be able to use computer with the real account!
So basically it seems that is absolutely impossible to change user folder name in Windows 8.1, which is simply unbelievable!
I really think i explained very good now.

  • How I can saving visa resource name in windows registery and load it again?

I use visa functions in my program for serial communication , I want to save selected resource name in windows registery and next time that i run my program, i want to read it from registery and assign it to my visa resource name control.
example:         My visa resource name control value = COM2
I close my program with this value (how i can easily save COM2 to windows registry key ?)
I open my program again (how i can load COM2 in my resource name control from registry Key?)
How i can access to visa resource name list? example: COM1     COM2      LPT1     COM56     COM255
    Thanks.
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

I guess I don't understand your problem. All you have to do is ready the key containing the desired resource name and wire the resulting value to the appropriate terminal on the open VI. That's as hard as it gets...

  • UI font name in Windows? I disabled mine.

I need to know the name of the UI font for Photoshop CS2. Upon startup I keep receiving the "UI font not found" error. I have over 1000 ttf and ps fonts and occasionally disable some of them; to keep that piece of Windows XP stuff working corectly. Must have disabled the font. Don't really want to enable all the fonts. The system would crash.

Thanks R_Kelly for your reply. I found the ADMUI3.fon in my G:\ttl folder; which is where I keep all my non postscript fonts.
Now, all I have to do is to remember how to get ATMfn4 to reactivate that font - it doesn't show it as available - and I'll be ok. Or may be I'll just move it into K:\ps9; which is where psCS2 is installed, or may be into C:\windows\fonts. I've forgotten how to install fonts on Win XP. May be they just need to be moved, but then again this is a .fon file and I'm only really used to .pfb's or .ttf's or .otf's.
Would you care to comment on the previous paragraph?

I believe the ui font for cs2 is ADMUI3.fon. If you look in C:\Program Files\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS2\Required is that font in the folder.

  • Information about logon name pre-windows 2000

    Hi,
In active directory while creating users we have two fields like logon name and logon name (pre-windows 2000). In windows2008R2 server I created new user (Test user) and 1 new group. I mapped new user to the group. While creating user I have given 123456789
for logon name field and user.test for logon name pre-windows 2000.
But with this user while doing LDAP search user is not listing from the server and also getting error as No groups found for the new user. So can you please let me know whether we need to give same name for logon name and logon name pre-windows 2000 fields?
If possible brief me about those fields.
    Appreciate your earlier response.
    Thanks & Regards,

  • Update Folder Name in Itunes after altering Folder Name in Windows Explorer

I changed the names of Album folders using Windows Explorer. How can I make the new folder names appear in the Album list within Itunes?

iTunes doesn't display the folder names, it displays imnformation in the library database which it takes from the tags. If you want to chamge what iTunes displays, use Get Info to edit the information.
But if you change folder names in Windows explorer, iTunes will no longer be able to find the files as the path has changed and iTunes doesn't do folder watching.

  • User Logon Name (pre-Windows 2000) and Domain Name Don't have the same Value

    Hi
is it possible to have User Logon Name (pre-Windows 2000) and Domain Name with different value?
    Exemple:
    domain name domain1.com
    and User Logon Name (pre-Windows 2000) Domain2\user

If you have trust in place, then also you can use trusted domain name to login from trustee domain. Also, UPN suffix can be added.

Name: Dark Knight, The.jpeg       Comment: (2008) Genre: Action...             <- copy comment

Edit "PicDir" and "MovDir" to the location of your Folders

System.getProperty("os.name") will return Windows Vista instead of Windows Server 2008 when running on Windows Server 2008 SP1. Is it a bug of this jdk?
