Javax.naming.PartialResultException (ConnectionException) problem with MSAD

Hi,
I have BPM 10gR3 installation connected to Microsoft Active Directory (both on the same VMWare host) and get the following intermittent errors being reported.
"Exception [javax.naming.PartialResultException [Root exception is javax.naming.CommunicationException: migrations.com.au:389
\[Root exception is java.net.ConnectException: connect: Address is invalid on local machine, or port is not valid on remote machine\]]]"
Has anyone run into this problem before or know of a fix?
I've trolled through some other forums and have found other applications reporting similar problems. I think this has something to do with my AD or DNS settings.
It's intermittent because I'm able to run my project from time to time but when it hits this condition the engine reports unexpected error has occurred (during an interaction with an instance) or when attempting to login. When things are working I'm able to access the User/participant information. I've created my AD users in an Org Unit called "al" and the users are not listed in the default Users container.
TP

Looks like it was a problem with DNS. Built the DNS (and used it) server first and then AD separately (pointing to this DNS) instead of allowing Win 2K3 Server to build AD and DNS the same time.

  • Handlling exception: javax.naming.PartialResultException: Unprocessed Conti

    I am running the following Java Code (in an agent in Lotus Notes, hence some of the odd bits). I've searched long and hard. I know I'm getting my error because I am searching the from the base DN in AD.
    It also appears you can't get around this with referrals settings as AD doesn't support them. I having trouble with the whole global catalog thing too.
    However, my code is working and returning the field I need. I would like to handle the error and get on with things.
    Now I am not a java programmer. Is it possible to handle the error and return to the code that generated it, or am I finished with the 'try' stuff as soon as my first exception is thrown?
    Sorry if this is a stupid question.

    Ok, managed to work this out. Needed a baby try/catch around a bit of my code so the error can be ignored - once this is done the notes agent doesn't have any problems taking out the garbage at the end.

  • Javax.xml.stream.XMLInputFactory problems with &

    Hi all
    I am using javax.xml.stream.XMLInputFactory to create an XMLStreamReader, which reads XML in from a database.
    The problem is that when it encounters & entities, it is replacing them simply with &. When I then go to transform the XML with an XSL stylesheet, it fails with a parser error due to the presence of unescaped & characters.
    Looking at the API documentation, I thought that setting the property javax.xml.stream.isReplacingEntityReferences to false would solve the problem, but it isn't. The line of code I am using is as follows: -
    inputFactory.setProperty("javax.xml.stream.isReplacingEntityReferences", new Boolean(false));
    Any further ideas as to what I am doing wrong or what else I should be doing?
    Many thanks for reading and considering my post.
    Kind Regards
    Jon

    Thanks for your continued posts guys...
    Quote from DrClap: "So if you consider this to be a problem, you are most likely misunderstanding. Or is there a reason why you feel you have to know how the text was represented in the document it came from?"
    Right, just to clarify, this is what I'm trying to do...
    1. XML, complete with properly escaped characters (&, etc) is sitting in the database.
    2. Next, I am attempting to read the XML into memory character for character via an XMLInputStream and so I still want &, etc, not just &.
    3. Finally, I apply stylesheet to XML Now I do want the parser to decode the & into &. The problem is that it has already been done in 2 (above) so the parser in 3 falls over.
    Thanks for pointing out that javax.xml.stream.XMLInputFactory is not a standard class DrClap - looks like it's back to the drawing board for me!!
    Thanks

  • Javax.crypto.* and javax.crypto.spec.* problem with MHP receiver

    Hello to everyone, I started to program in MHP 1.0.2 on a MHP receiver and now i'm practicing in encrypting and decrypting. I load from the smart card in the MHP receiver an X509Certificate object (I have it both in byte[] form, called certArray, and X509Certificate object, called "certificate"). What i'd like to do is to :
    1)calculate digest of the certificate (line 1 and 2 of the following code)
    2) encrypt the digest using the same algorithm of the certificate (see line 3 and 4)
    The problem is generated at line 3 : the receiver, probably, doesn't find the class of the algorithm of encrypting. It is important to notice that the instruments to encrypt/decrypt are included in javax.crypto and javax.crypto.spec packages.
    MessageDigest md = MessageDigest.getInstance("SHA");
    byte[] digest = md.digest(certArray);
    Cipher encrypt = Cipher.getInstance(certificate.getSigAlgName());
    encrypt.init(Cipher.ENCRYPT_MODE, certificate.getPublicKey());

  • Re: javax.naming.PartialResultException: Unprocessed Continuation Reference(s)

    Without seeing your real code, it's difficult to state exactly what is wrong with it.
    However it looks like there are at least two you should look at.
    1. Have a good read of http://java.sun.com/products/jndi/tutorial/ldap/search/search.html.
    Your are using a search of the form:
    search(Name name, Attributes matchingAttrs)
    which doesn't allow you to specify search controls, one of which is setting the search scope. In your case because you are issuing your search at the base of your Active Directory dc=zentrale,dc=local and the group you are interested in is located at ou=j2ee,dc=zentrale,dc=local you need to perform a subtree search (searchControls.SUBTREE_SCOPE)
    You may want to use the following form for your search:
    search(Name name, String filter, SearchControls ctls)
    2. I assume that immediately after issuing your search you call uenum.next();
    Your code assumes that the query will always return a result, which is an incorrect assumption. Your should actually check that some results are actually returned, with something like:
    //Loop through the search results
    while (uenum.hasMoreElements()) {
    SearchResult sr = (SearchResult)answer.next();
    good luck.

    This may be related to the problem in yoru previous post.
    If you refer to the error message, the continuation reference is being thrown when a referral is generated and you have not specified whether to follow, ignore or throw the referral.
    In anycase, if it is indeed related to your previous post, the referral will be moot, as the referral is being returned because you have incorrectly specified either base distinguished name in your ldapurl or in the relative distinguished name of the user object.

  • Classpath problems with JMF

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to develop a simple application using JMF; I've problems importing classes from javax.media package. Problem with my application is that when I explicitly specify classpath as a command line argument to javac my application compiles; but if I use CLASSPATH environment variable it doesn't. Here's the output:
    situ@situ-desktop:~/myjava/media$ cat First.java
    import javax.media.*;
    public class First{
    situ@situ-desktop:~/myjava/media$ echo $CLASSPATH
    /home/situ/jmf/JMF-2.1.1e/lib/jmf.jar:/home/situ/jmf/JMF-2.1.1e/lib/sound.jar:.:
    situ@situ-desktop:~/myjava/media$ javac First.java
    First.java:1: package javax.media does not exist
    import javax.media.*;
    ^
    1 error
    situ@situ-desktop:~/myjava/media$ javac -classpath /home/situ/jmf/JMF-2.1.1e/lib/jmf.jar First.java
    situ@situ-desktop:~/myjava/media$
    Thanks.

    According to the documentation, it wants you to set two environmental variables, JMFHOME and CLASSPATH. And it wants the CLASSPATH to be relative to that JMFHOME variable.
    Try this.
    setenv JMFHOME /home/someuser/JMF2.1.1
    setenv CLASSPATH $JMFHOME/lib/jmf.jar:.:${CLASSPATH}

  • Rather odd problem with package naming...

    Background info:
    I'm working on a web-based application, on a Tomcat server. Classes (and packages) must be in a subfolder of WEB-INF/classes of the app's root. So the packages are in WEB-INF/classes/com/<package>.
    The older packages are in com/gestion (for the package com.gestion ) and the newer ones are in com/incsolution/<various> where <various> can be either chart, util or pgm - following convention more closely.
    OK! We have a class called SqlBean in com.gestion, which starts off like so:package com.gestion;
    import java.sql.*;
    import javax.sql.*;// stock pour pooled connection c'est dans javax.sql
    import javax.naming.*;
    import java.io.*;
    public abstract class SqlBean
        ...rest of code...
    }and is used in several other objects, like TransferQBean.java, which is in the same package:
    package com.gestion;
    import java.sql.*;
    public class TransfertQBean extends SqlBean
       ...rest of code...
    }Now, i've been working (with others) on this project for 2 years now, and up until last week, there was no problem with the way things were called. Come Monday (April 11), the classes won't compile any more - gives me this error:
    classes/com/gestion/TransferQBean.java [5.1] cannot resolve symbol
    symbol : class SqlBean
    location: class com.geastion.TransferQBean
    public class TransferQBean extends SqlBean
    ....................................................................^
    Now if i add classes to com.gestion to get...
    package classes.com.gestion;
    import java.sql.*;
    public class TransfertQBean extends SqlBean
       rest of code...
    }and same for SqlBean...
    package classes.com.gestion;
    import java.sql.*;
    import javax.sql.*;// stock pour pooled connection c'est dans javax.sql
    import javax.naming.*;
    import java.io.*;
    public abstract class SqlBean
       ...rest of code...
    }...it works, but that's not how it's supposed to be. What puzzles me the most is how this came about suddenly.
    Anyone have an idea what might be causing this? AFAIK, it's abnormal...
    JH

    classes/com/gestion/TransferQBean.java [5.1] cannot resolve symbol
    symbol : class SqlBean
    location: class com.geastion.TransferQBean
    public class TransferQBean extends SqlBean
    ....................................................................^The solution to your problem is simply that your classpath is incorrect at compile-time. How you fix that depends on how you compile (from an IDE, from the command-line javac tool, etc). But whatever you do, don't make your solution depend on a system environment CLASSPATH variable.

  • Jboss problem: javax.naming.ServiceUnavailableException

    I successfully created and deployed the 'Interest' example bean with Jboss 2.2.2 (JDK 1.3). Although when I come to execute the client I get this error:

    This example definitely works, because it has been tried before. I am running this on a NT machine, which possibly could make the difference.
    Anyone else had this problem? Any solutions?
    Thanks in advance!

    java.naming.factory.initial=org.jnp.interfaces.NamingContextFactory
    #java.naming.provider.url=localhost
    java.naming.factory.url.pkgs=org.jboss.naming
    This all matches up! I'm going to try checking through all the other properties files.

    Greetings,
    javax.naming.NameNotFoundException. Root exception is
    org.omg.CosNaming.NamingContextPackage.NotFound
    =================
    Below is the line of my LoginServlet class which is
    referred to in the stack trace - Object object =
    context.lookup
                        ( "java:comp/env/ejb/WarehouseClerk" );The root of the naming context is 'java:comp/env' and this is where lookup automatically begins for EJBs and resources. IOW, by specifying "java:comp/env/ejb/WarehouseClerk" as the EJB lookup name the server is actually treating this as "java:comp/env/java:comp/env/ejb/WarehouseClerk". Specify only the ejb context ("ejb/WarehouseClerk") in your lookup and you should be fine.
    Any help would be most appreciated.
    SeanRegards,
    Tony "Vee Schade" Cook

  • Problem with naming certain people in Faces

    When I am using the Faces feature of Aperture 3, I have a problem with naming certain people. In particular, if I want to name someone "Tommy", I type a "T" but instead a "D" appears. If I type a "T" again then the correct letter will appear but the first letter will always be a "D" if I press "T". So when I type "Tommy" on my keyboard I see "Dommy" instead. Does anybody else have this problem?

    Yes. I thought it was because I had originally changed someone's name (Tave to Dave) and it still picked up old first letter. Workaround is typing two T's then erasing the first incorrect one. But appears we have a bu.
    I have other issues too. I have many Dave's and Jim's and I can't figure how to tell which one is.
    Maybe someone can remind us how post a bug report.

  • 10g: problem with similar named listeners

    Hi,
    env:
    2 node OEL cluster (not rac, a linux cluster)
    11.2.0.3 GI
    11.2.0.3 and 10.2.0.5 DB's
    The problem seems to be that lsnrctl in 10g is only using the first 12-13 characters of the listener name.
    I have a listener configured with the name listener_prodXXX, when I configure another listener named listener_prodYYY and want to start ist:
    lsnrctl start listener_prodYYY
    TNS-01106: Listener using listener name listener_prodXXX has already been started.
    ps -ef |grep -i listener_prod
    oracle 2784 1 0 13:03 ? 00:00:00 /oracle/product/10.2.0/XXX/bin/tnslsnr listener_prodXXX -inherit
    is there a rule for naming the listeners?
    confused greetings
    Daniel

    Of course I was searching docs/metalink before but couldn't find anything there, so I was asking here.No sign of searching exists in your posts
    If you have only one listener with multiple db's and want to do some maintenance on one of them, how do you avoid user connecting to it?Put the database in restricted session mode
    I don't think its forbidden to use multiple listeners, so if I'm having a problem with the configuration the forum should be the place to ask, isn't it?It is not forbidden to use multiple listeners, but in 999 out of 1000 cases it is not required, and people 'think' they need multiple listeners for the wrong reasons.
    Your post is no exception.
    So, yes, if you want to setup multiple listeners, without apparent and/or sound reasons, I will explain you don't need them/.
    There is nothing wrong about that, isn't it? Many people here 'think' they know Oracle, few have experience and know they do.
