Javax.servlet could not be found

I know that error is because j2ee is not installed or found. I did install it, but it still didn't work. I do have 1.5 installed with it, so how do you set the environment variables for something like that?
Here is my previous:
.;%classpath%.; C\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0\lib\tools.jar
Here is what I thought would work:
.;%classpath%.; C\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0\lib\tools.jar;C\Sun\AppServer2\jdk\lib\tools.jar
Of course it didn't work.
Any help/suggestions?

Hi,
Also u need to set your CLASSPATH to the location of servlet.jar .
Its supposed to be in the ""C:\%j2sdk1.4.1_06%\jre\lib\ext
try this out may be it will help.

  • Javax.servlet.* Not Found Error - Please help

    I am having a great deal deal of trouble trying to compile a program using javax.servlet and javax.servlet.hhtp.*. I have setup the JAVA_HOME and the CLASSPATH variables as per the Installation instructions. I appear to have hit a brick wall and I am absolutely desperate to get this working. I have installed the J2EE SDK as well as the Servletapi2.1. Please Help.
    Variables:
    CLASSPATH=c:\jdk1.3\lib\tools.jar;c:\j2sdkee1.3.1\lib\j2ee.jar;c:\jdk1.3\jre\bin;c:\jdk1.3\jre\lib;c:\mm.mysql-2.0.14\org;c:\jdk1.3\lib\servlet.jar;
    JAVA_HOME=c:\jdk1.3;
    J2EE_HOME=c:\j2sdkee1.3.1;
    PATH=%PATH%;c:\jdk1.3\bin;c:\j2sdkee1.3.1\bin;
    Error message from compiler:
    L:\PROGRA~1\allaire\jrun\servers\default\loanstest\web-inf\classes\PasswordServlet.java:27: package javax.servlet does not exist

    I can only think of three suggestions.
    One, use your mouse to "cut-n-paste" the value of CLASSPATH and verify that those files are exactly where you think they are, and are spelled right.
    E.g.
    CD C:\JDK1.3\LIB
    DIR SERVLET.JAR
    Two, if they're spelled right, run "jar tvf" on the files to make sure they aren't corrupted or something.
    E.g.:
    JAR TVF SERVLET.JAR
    Three, since you're working in Windoze, try putting the value inside double quotes. E.g.:
    SET CLASSPATH="c:\jdk1.3\lib\tools.jar;c:\j2sdkee1 ... etc ... "
    If you haven't tried the above, give it a go, see what happens.

  • The persistent store record 6,810 could not be found

    Under heavy load, we get an exception stack trace in the log, that says that an expired message could not be deleted. This message is repeated every 15-30 minutes for other records. 5 hours later, it says that a thread is stuck and the server is blocked.
              What to do?
              We use Weblogic 9.2 MP2
              Thanks, Peter

    Is the system 6.40 release ? Have you referred to SAP Note 923694  ?
    Search in SAP Notes for 'Importing A Web Dynpro Hot Fix', find the one relevant for your SP level and make sure you have implemented those fixes if you find one for the SP.
    Hope this helps

  • ANT script genrated error: package javax.servlet does not exist

    Hi there,
    I am running ANT and confronted this message:
        [javac] Compiling 1 source file to C:\eclipseProjects\tomcat_test
        [javac] C:\eclipseProjects\tomcat_test\WEB-INF\src\WebTest.java:4: package javax.servlet does not exist
        [javac] import javax.servlet.ServletException;
        [javac] ^I googled around and found this solution:
    servlet-api.jar is the jarfile that contains javax.servlet.ServletException and javax.servlet.http.* which are imported by WebTest.java and must therefore be found in the classpath. If javac doesn't find this jar (or the javax.servlet packages), it will say (or shout, depending on my and javac's mood): [the error message]
    well...I set in the classpath the location of the servlet-api.jar
    (found at: C:\Tomcat\common\lib)
    I set it with the environment variable (windows xp)
    Just as it's shown here: http://www.cs.usask.ca/~wew036/latex/env-env.jpg
    NOTHING :-(
    could anyone assist, thanks

    Hi..seems u r new to J2ee.. dont worry its a very small problem:
    Here is the solution.. yes u have to edit the environment variables:..
    I am using J2EE sdk 1.4 and running on xp
    This is the classpath setting:
    C:\Sun\AppServer\lib\j2ee.jar;
    This is the PATH setting
    C:\Sun\AppServer\bin;
    Good Luck :)

    You most likely have the j2ee.jar in your classpath somewhere. Remove it.

    Hi,
    Reproducing this issue is very easy.....
    1). Just Create a Admin and Managed Server
    2). Start AdminServer then from Admin Console Disable the normal listen-port for admin Server (suppose it was 7001 disable it)....AND enable only the SSL port for Admin Server (example 7002).
    Managed Server (Listen Port=7003 and SSL ListenPort=7004)
    3). Now Try Start Managed Server.
    you wil get the Exact same exception
    <Jan 20, 2010 6:03:19 PM CST> <Error> <Configuration Management> <BEA-150000> <An error occurred while establishing a connection back to the adminstration server t3://140.126.24.25:6001 during startup. Since bootstrap succeeded check that t3://140.126.24.25:6001 uniquely identifies the administration server.
    javax.naming.ServiceUnavailableException [Root exception is java.rmi.NoSuchObjectException: The object identified by: '31' could not be found. Either it was has not been exported or it has been collected by the distributed garbage collector.]
    And
    <Emergency> <Management> <BEA-141151> <The admin server could not be reached at http://140.126.24.25:6001.>
    Now it will be easy for us to find out where is the issue actually.
    Thanks

  • Package javax.servlet does not exist, package javax.servlet.http does not

    Dear All,
    I am a newbie to JAVA.
    I installed JDK1.6.0_04, then NetBeans IDE 6.0
    I tried compiling an example servlet, but got this error message:
    package javax.servlet does not exist, package javax.servlet.http does not exist
    I tried locating these packages, but in vain. I also tried setting the CLASSPATH to many values, still it did not work.
    Can anyone, please, help me with this.
    Should I be able to see/locate these packages, do I have to download them?
    Thank you very much.

    What servlet/JSP engine do you plan to deploy to? Tomcat, perhaps?I think it's Tomcat (C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache Tomcat 6.0.14). Are there other engines that come with NetBeans IDE 6.0 (when I downloaded NetBeans, I chose ALL)
    >
    If so, you'll need to put the servlet JAR in your CLASSPATH. (servlet-api.jar for Tomcat 5.5 and earlier, servlet.jar for 6.0 >and later.)
    I tried locating these packages, but in vain.
    You won't find them until you realize that you have to deploy that servlet someplace.How to deploy?
    I also tried setting the CLASSPATH to many values, still it did not work.
    See above. What were you planning to set CLASSPATH to?First I set to:
    C:\Program Files\Apache Software Foundation\Apache Tomcat 6.0.14\lib (because I found jar named servlet-api.jar in this folder)
    Later I added this:
    C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.6.0_04\lib (out of trial-and-fail)
    Finally I added some paths that lead to a library such as
    C:\Program Files\glassfish-v2\lib
    C:\Program Files\glassfish-v2\lib\ant\lib
    Can anyone, please, help me with this.
    Should I be able to see/locate these packages, do I have to download them?
    You have to get a servlet/JSP engine. Step 1.Thank you for your help

  • Package javax.servlet does not exists ?

    Hello,
    I am using JDK 1.3.1.06 and trying to compile a simple Servlet. But getting errors as javax package classes does not exits and cannot resolve symobol.
    The following is the program I am trying to compile:
    import javax.servlet.*;
    import javax.servlet.http.*;
    import java.io.*;
    public class TestServlet extends HttpServlet
         public void doGet(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException
              process(request, response);
         public void doPost(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException
              process(request, response);
         private void process(HttpServletRequest request, HttpServletResponse response) throws ServletException, IOException
              PrintWriter out = response.getWriter();
              out.println("Hello World !");
    I am getting errors such as :
    Package javax.servlet does not exists.
    cannot resolve symbol
    symbol : class HttpServlet
    Please advice me of any solution asap. Deep trouble.
    Thanking you,
    Forumans.

    Just a guess...
    JDK 1.3.1.06 This represents the Java language in the form of a JVM and the Java API (like java.lang.String.)
    ServletThis is in J2EE, which if you look above was not mentioned.
    If you look in the java docs for the JDK you will also find that javax.servlet does not exist.
    I would guess however that you could start here - http://java.sun.com/j2ee/
    However, keep in mind that your servlet still needs to run in something, so you better make sure that you are compiling against the correct J2EE server for what you are doing.

    (user properties)
    CLASSPATH = C:\Program Files\Oracle\Berkeley DB XML 2.4.16\jar\dbxmlexamples.jar;C:\Program Files\Oracle\Berkeley DB XML 2.4.16\jar\dbxml.jar;C:\Program Files\Oracle\Berkeley DB XML 2.4.16\jar\db.jar

    For good measure I also tried moving these into the 'system variables' section of the environment variables, and also tried adding -Djava.library.path="C:\Program Files\Oracle\Berkeley DB XML 2.4.16\bin"
    FYI, removing the dbxml path variable changes the error message to Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no libdb_java46 in java.library.path
    Any thoughts? I'm looking at using DBXML for my honours thesis, so it's pretty important to me to get this working, any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I am pretty sure that the path and classpaths are set up properly:
    (user properties)
    CLASSPATH = C:\Program Files\Oracle\Berkeley DB XML 2.4.16\jar\dbxmlexamples.jar;C:\Program Files\Oracle\Berkeley DB XML 2.4.16\jar\dbxml.jar;C:\Program Files\Oracle\Berkeley DB XML 2.4.16\jar\db.jar
    PATH = C:\Program Files\Delta3D_REL-2.3.0\build_VS2008\bin;C:\Program Files\Oracle\Berkeley DB XML 2.4.16\binThis reduces the PATH to just those two directories. Not very good. What about C:\WINDOWS\system32 and others? Instead, use:
    set Path=%Path%;C:\My\Extra\Path
    For good measure I also tried moving these into the 'system variables' section of the environment variables, and also tried adding -Djava.library.path="C:\Program Files\Oracle\Berkeley DB XML 2.4.16\bin"
    FYI, removing the dbxml path variable changes the error message to Exception in thread "AWT-EventQueue-0" java.lang.UnsatisfiedLinkError: no libdb_java46 in java.library.pathThe directory has to be in the PATH as well, because the DBXML libraries is linked to Xerces and XQilla and needs to be able to load these. Set the PATH globally (for all users), and restart the machine. Then it'll also work for the Local System Account in case you're using that.

    Hi,
    Previously, i tried to extend weblogic domain "oim_domain" that only configured for OIM, and integrate the OIM with OAM 11g.
    The integration was failed, because all users cannot login to OAM login page (using Active Directory authentication), so i rolled back all configuration by copying MW_HOME i've backed-up before extend the weblogic domain.
    When i start the OIM after rolled back, i've found an error message as follow :
